I totally get the concept of size shifting under duress- whether it’s stress, high heart rate, negative emotions (exquisite concept)-

but what do we think of size shifting because of joy? Elation? Relief?

ALRIGHT so Sizeshifters right? We all know em we all love them! I mean who wouldn’t?!? They can be a giant or a tiny whenever you need them to be. BUT WAIT! What about the emotional ones? The ones whose shift based on their emotions? Yeah they’re classic too and we love them just as much. But what if there were other reasons that cause sizeshifters to shift?

Hear me out, a sizeshifter whose size fully depends on what they ate the other day. I don’t mean in the basic sense of if they ate a lot they big and if they ate a little they small, no no. I mean like some foods make them shrink and other foods make the grow. Like You just find them eating a whole bunch of nuts and they just go “nuts make me shrink and I’m trying to avoid going to work tomorrow cause I just don’t want to man” or they start chugging water cause “water it the only thing that balances my size to normal and if I’m not normal sized tomorrow I’m sooooo fucked” etc etc. They try to eat the things they have before cause they know how it effects them the next day, but everyday they are tempted to try that new restaurant but they really don’t want to roll the dice on their height the next day man.

Or what about a sizeshifter whose size is affected by weather? Sunny day? Oh nice normal height! Clouds start rolling in? Uh oh now they’re shrinking. Rain? They’re smaller! Thunderstorm?!? Whelp they’re hella small, and they’re hoping a tornado doesn’t form because that would be actually more terrifying than anything. Snow though? Oh look they get bigger? More snow?!? Even bigger! Full on blizzard?!? People start leaving their cold homes to hide in the now giant’s pockets cause they are way warmer and very spacious at this point. My dude probably has his heads in the clouds…literally!! People eventually just keep tabs on the shifter to see what the weather is like. Clouds forming ahead? Alright are they shrinking or growing cause then they’ll know if it’s rain or snow.

What about a sizeshifter whose size depends on the animal they last seen/interacted with. Yeah usually they’re human sized cause that’s the one they usually see but suddenly touching a dog? Boom now they the height of that dog. A spider decides to crawl onto their back? Boom! They got the same spider problem but now it’s way more serious. They go out to sea and get to touch a whale? Whelp looks like they’re swimming back to shore with a rope tethered to them just in case they bump into a smaller fish and they can’t fit on the boat at the moment.

We always go to emotion for sizeshifter who can’t control their ability and it’s a beautiful classic but just what if there were sizeshifter who had the same problem but just different reason? I think it’d be neat to have so many variations!

I love fluff. I LOVE gentle giants. Would I be the most gentle giant in the universe? Of course. Do I LIVE for those friendships? Heck yeah! Would I DIE for the gt family relationships? Obviously. GT fluff is just..

But do I still love angst and fearplay more? Do I enjoy the feeling of fear I feel as I read the tinies perspective?

★okay okay, you know what time it is, random g/t concept time erhhhh. I kinda wanna see a giant butting the tip of their nose against a tiny or something. Maybe it is a sign of a affection as they gently tap on their torso with their nose. Maybe they do it teasingly, to see just how little effort it'll take to knock the tiny over. Maybe they rub the tip of their nose on them just a bit, almost like a gentle nuzzle, just to give em a few butterflies to swarm around in their stomach.★

I fucking hate being into GT sometimes, I just wanted to think about my OCs drinking coffee together, which led to me thinking "Oh could the tiny even drink the coffee or would that amount of caffeine kill them?" Which has forced me to learn math i did not want to learn in the first place and also about cubes and shit? Somehow also velocity????? This is bullshit I've decided they can drink the coffee I'm not learning all that

Can we talk about how wholesome romance is in gt?

The giant is just looking down at the tiny lovingly with so much love and appreciation, gently sweeping them off their feet as they hold their entire being in their hands.

They exchange glances, both craving the affection and enjoying the touch, the giant just gently leaning in and pepperminting their tiny love in kisses because their lips are too big to kiss them on the lips.

And when the tiny wants to return the kiss they can just lean forward, softly kissing the giant's lips lovingly as it is now the giant's turn to be unable to return the kiss of their love.

The thought alone of being held close to a heart and feeling it beat for you, the thought alone of feeling the one person you love most in your hands... it's just so heartwarming...

And just being able to be so close together despite the huge size difference....

I don't know about you guys, but I want this.

Thinking About Giant Languages

I don't know what others think of this, but here's my two cents:

I like to think that most giants would be able to speak multiple languages. Giants would be fluent in the language of the humans around them (e.g. English), but they'd also use their own language to talk with other giants. It'd allow them to have private conversations with each other in the presence of other humans (especially since their voices carry easily, imagine an entire neighborhood hearing about your issues because you were having a polite conversation nearby).

I also like to think that some communities of giants would have their own sign language. This would be used when they want to converse but not disturb humans with the volume of their voices. The sign language would be either a secret the giants keep to themselves or something they share freely with humans. If shared with humans, it could decrease the demand for noise-protecting headphones (something I think would be common in places with very loud and disruptive giants).

Random GT Thoughts

Something I LOVE about GT that I don't see talked enough about is the giant doing something completely innocuous, but it scaring the SHIT out of the tiny. Like they don't even have to try to threaten the tiny, the fact that they can pick up a WHOLE apple. Or maybe tiny has been scared of giants eating them, so when Tol gets tired and yawns they just freak the fuck out, whole seeing their life flash before their eyes type shit.

Bonus points if they don't bring it up immediately, but the giant knows SOMETHING is off, but not what, 'my tiny friend is looking at me like I'm death again, what did I do?' and when they find out they immediately halt all doing of that action. Hard stop, no scaring tinies in this household

★random ahh g/t trope where a farmer goes to feed the animals at the barn only to get shook by the sight of giant legs sticking out of the barns entrance. Turns out that the legs belong to a giant who found shelter in the farmers barn and decided to take a little nap there or something. Oh and, the giant may or may have not destroyed the farmers agriculture work with their footsteps or something.★

I have had like so many, but one I keep thinking about is a borrower getting discovered by a grandma, gets how pictures of her grandkids, sent of with a cookie ( I keep thinking what if grandchild has partner that is borrower so grandma is just all sweet and talking about her grandchilds partner who is also a borrower)

Aww that’s adorbs

But also, what if granny keeps telling her kids about the borrower she saw and they keep thinking she’s seeing things that aren’t there, and are like “sure mom whatever”

Then one day she introduces the borrower to the grandkids and now everyone’s talking about tiny ppl and the parents start thinking they’re the crazy ones
