my experience at yyz as a gtaa team member
I was introduced to the concept of customer service when I first started working at the airport. My first and second shifts were at the airport's Terminal 1. My favorite aspect of my job was meeting new individuals and making them feel at ease. That was quite instructive; I learned about the airport and its services, the boarding and de-boarding procedures, and so forth. My second shift didn't have nearly as much work as my first, but there were still a lot of inquiries from passengers. I had several interesting conversations regarding them that contributed to me feeling good about myself as well as everything I did. The third shift at Terminal 3 was even more engaging than the previous ones as it included numerous problems like taking a wrong turn in the airport, working late hours, and more and more, which made this shift both thrilling and demanding for me personally! I was never bored due to the abundance of various things to do, such as answering phones, assisting tourists, and filing taxes. We also learn about their tales as they tell you about their travels or what they plan to do when they return home. I've * gained considerable knowledge about dealing with customers and how to offer assistance to others. The exercise highlighted to me the significance of being patient, kind, and helpful while dealing with other people's concerns and inquiries. Everyone were really helpful and polite to me, and they complimented me for the support they received.

Cathay Pacific Internship - 12th Official Shift
[02/20/23]
I am working at the SSBD for this shift, so I turned on the main belt and called GTAA to open the bag drop at Zone 5 as usual to get ready. Together with the Bingo Sheet for the mini tags, I also prepared the batteries and dangerous goods signs.
At SSBD, Kelvin and Mia helped me assist passengers, and I'm grateful that they were there to support me and answer my questions. I was successful in persuading people to check ten carry-on bags for tonight's trip!
In addition, I believe that this was my best shift to date! Finally, tonight was the night that I had the opportunity to enter the aircraft. I'm grateful to Claire for taking us there and showing us around the plane, letting us enjoy and take pictures inside! It was such a surreal experience to see everything inside, including the cockpit, business class, premium economy class, galleys, and the place where the cabin crew could rest and sleep.
I also had the opportunity to witness the pushback tonight, and it is simply incredible! Getting a close-up look at the A350-1000 just gave me butterflies and made me realize how much I love aviation!
Overall, it was a night filled with new learnings and new experiences! We had the opportunity to learn from Claire about what to do and prepare for passengers on inbound flights. I just want to express my gratitude to all of our Cathay staff for a truly outstanding shift tonight! 🫶🏼

My first day as Volunteer with GTAA
I started volunteering with the GTAA for my co op course at college .Earlier I was very nervous as I'm introvert person and before starting with training I was thinking how will I face so many people? how will I start a conversation with people ? But when I completed the training , I got familiar with the airport and built up confidence in conversing with people with my buddy up shifts . All thanks to Shannon as she was so helpful and shoed me all the Terminal 3 and tricks to remember the gates . Also Ashwini helped me in showing the entire terminal 1 as she was knowledgeable with the airport . Everyday I learn new things at the airport gain knowledge regarding the tackling issues .This Tuesday I'll be getting my uniform!! Until now so far so good !

Microsoft to forge AI partnerships with South Korean tech leaders
.pp-multiple-authors-boxes-wrapper display:none; img width:100%;
Microsoft is set to host top executives from South Korea’s leading technology firms next month to strengthen its AI partnerships.
The high-level meeting, dubbed the MS CEO Summit 2024, will be held on 14 May 2024 and feature Microsoft’s founder Bill Gates and Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella. They will engage in closed-door discussions with Kyung Kye-hyun of Samsung, Kwak Noh-jung of SK Hynix, Cho Joo-wan of LG Electronics, and Ryu Young-sang of SK Telecom.
Sources for The Korea Economic Daily suggest that Microsoft plans to explore joint ventures in AI technology across various sectors. Discussions with Samsung and SK Hynix will likely centre on the joint development and supply of AI chips.
Samsung and SK Hynix are recognised as being among the world’s leading memory chipmakers and can enhance Microsoft’s server capabilities with next-generation technologies such as High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM) AI chips and solid-state drives (SSDs).
Collaboration topics with LG Electronics will include integrating AI technologies into home appliances, a move that will boost Microsoft’s competitive edge against rivals like Google and Meta. With SK Telecom, Microsoft is expected to delve further into cloud and 5G services.
These meetings are timely, as the global tech landscape sees an increased focus on AI development. By potentially integrating Microsoft’s AI services into products like Samsung’s smartphones and LG’s home appliances, Microsoft could significantly elevate its market standing.
Kyung of Samsung’s Device Solutions indicated last month that their new AI accelerators, Mach-1 and Mach-2, will soon move into mass production. These accelerators are designed to optimise the synergy between GPUs and HBM chips, promising a revolution in processing speeds. Earlier this month, the company unveiled the industry’s first LPDDR5X DRAM which aims to boost on-device AI.
SK Telecom, under CEO Ryu, spearheads the Global Telco AI Alliance (GTAA). This consortium, including major global players like Deutsche Telekom and SingTel, aims to develop AI infrastructure and generative AI services across a customer base exceeding 1.3 billion globally.
Last year, SK Telecom invested $100 million in AI startup Anthropic to develop a large language model (LLM) specifically for telcos. The collaborative endeavour extends to the Telco AI Platform, an ongoing project initiated by the GTAA.
The MS CEO Summit 2024 presents an opportunity for enhanced AI cooperation and technological advancement, securing Microsoft’s position as a pivotal player in the industry.

February 2024
I went to GTAA pass office to get my RAIC. I was scared because I thought the test is hard so I was studying while waiting for them to call my name but then I was worrying about nothing because that 5 question is easy and I got a 100% yay. They were nice in the pass office especially that person who keeps on asking we are ok and if we want to go inside already because my friends are having issues with their paper.

I had a great shift and had my RAIC appointment afterwards. I was super excited to get my RAIC and the lady that was taking care of me at the Gtaa pass office was very nice! She tried to do everything quickly but yet done correctly as she was aware the shift time I just completed and wanted me to get home to get some rest!!! I love working at the airport as everyone is really nice and caring!!

Cathay Pacific Internship - 10th Official Shift
[02/16/23]
I finally received my yellow RAIC, making this shift a great one. I was eventually able to receive my RAIC that day at the GTAA Pass Office after a month of waiting and after completing all the paperwork.
I was given the task of working the kiosks first during this shift, so I just went about my regular routine of assisting people with check-in and printing boarding passes and luggage tags. After that, our Cathay staff asked me to go to the queue so I could persuade passengers who weren't in a rush to go on the following day's trip and explain to them all the perks and compensations of volunteering for the next flight.
Then, for the first time ever, I went to the airside. I'm extremely grateful to my friends Zella and Am.J for helping me find our boarding gate because they've already been there before.
When I arrived, Miss Fanny gave me instructions on what to do, how to perform the document checks, and how to stamp the passengers' boarding passes in accordance with their classes of service. I'm grateful to Mia, David, and Miss Fanny for their assistance and for explaining what I should do and watch out for once boarding starts. Finally, I was able to see the A350-1000 up close, and I hope that on my next shift, I will be able to get inside.
Overall, I feel like I learned a lot throughout this shift. I honestly think I like working on the airside, and I can't wait to do it again soon!
