𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗗 𝗢𝗙 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗢𝗡 𝗗𝗘𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗦 𝗔 𝗗𝗢𝗚 𝗢𝗙 𝗙𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗪𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗥? NASCAR Director, Jay Fabian; charged with animal cruelty. Jay Fabian has been in the motor racing industry for many years, but his reputation was shattered as he was arrested on three animal cruelty charges for purposefully starving, and withholding water from his dogs Jasper, Roscoe, and Aubrey. His callous actions resulted in the death of Jasper, and unthinkable suffering for all three. Charges have been filed by the Mecklenburg County Police Department, citing two counts of felony animal cruelty, and one misdemeanor of the same. The first felony charge states that on July 21st, Fabian "did intentionally and with malice, deprive his dog, Jasper, of all necessary sustenance in which to live, causing the animal to suffer unjustifiable pain, suffering, and death in a torturous and cruel manner.” The second felony charge states that Fabian, “did cause torment and unnecessary suffering (extreme dehydration and starvation almost to the point of death) of his dog, Aubrey, by the malicious and cruel omission of care and neglect.” And the warrant for the misdemeanor states that Fabian, “unlawfully and wilfully did intentionally torment and deprive of necessary sustenance an animal, a dog named Roscoe owned by Jay Fabian.” Fabian has stepped back from his role as director while the case is ongoing. A hearing is scheduled for September 27th. We fully support strong and decisive action by the judge, with justice being served to the fullest extent of the law. Animal cruelty is sadly found in every area of society, and everywhere it takes place must be met with zero tolerance. There must be Justice for Jasper, and a future far away from harm for Roscoe and Aubrey. Words of the veterinarian caring for Liam...And the animal control authorities of Long County, #Georgia did nothing. This situation has been going on for years! This is not just about this particular property, which has had dogs tied on heavy chains...dogs clearly suffering from neglect with little to no shelter, there are others in this County just as neglected and abused. Accountability is lacking in this Long County! Ironically, a commissioner of the County was recently charged in an alleged case of animal abuse of two malnourished horses, as well as a recent DUI charge! In Liam's case, the so called owner has been suspect for a long time for wrong doing, including dog fighting. #AnimalControl has been aware of this property for some time. They refused to remove any dogs until they were recently forced to and subsequently several other dogs from the property miraculously vanished. Where are those poor animals? The owner has NEVER been cited or warned for neglect and abuse. He has been living a life unfettered by laws that are supposed to protect animals. Thanks to local concerned citizen pressure, Liam was finally surrendered. This is a very dark, deep and disturbing situation. All signs point directly to #dogfighting, and criminal abuse. The Guardians are escalating this case to new level, with former FBi agents to uncover potential corruption within the shelter. Time is of the essence and that is why we are asking for help for the animals of this rural area. Appling County, GA On March 18th, a Facebook plea for help on behalf of a disabled private citizen goes out: Puppies abandoned, need help! The photo provided shows the animal services officer for the City of Baxley, holding three puppies in her arms. Although the ACO picked up the mother dog and one of the pups from same street, she refused services to the remaining littermates, claiming "no room at the shelter." Three puppies, now abandoned by the ACO, were left on the property of an elderly couple who could not afford to feed them. The ACO had the mother euthanized within 24 hours of pick up because she "smelled like death", leaving one puppy in a large kennel at the shelter - all alone. Guardians of Rescue answered that Facebook plea for help and provided food for abandoned puppies. We secured a foster and moved them to safety. Then, a Guardians team member adopted the puppy from the shelter and reunited her with the litter. She was informed of the "New Shelter Policy" that requires a Rabies vaccine and submitted proof within 8 days of adoption- even for puppies less than 8 weeks of age. The adoption paperwork we received for the puppy from the ACO at the shelter belonged to the momma dog who had been killed several days prior - indicating a black, 3 year old female bulldog. Let's recap the crazy: 1. Mom and one pup carried to the shelter by ACO. Mom killed within 24 hours. Paperwork never updated to reflect euthanasia. 2. Littermates, found on the same street, denied services and abandoned by the ACO on private property - after a photo op. 3. Disabled citizen, without resources, forced to feed and care for animals that are not theirs and that they cannot afford. 4. Puppies under 8 weeks required to be vaccinated against rabies before the minimum age of 12 weeks, per ACO. 5. His gums are pale, his membranes are dry, and his rectum is filled with maggots. We know that maggots feed on dead tissue, so this is a very ominous sign. A GOR member immediately picked up this suffering kitten and brought him straight to our emergency vet. This is one of four animals taken in by our regional director today.
