When I first learnt this sweep I always used the strength of my quad to extend the opponents leg upward. It actually was not till I was a brown belt and using the #islandtopteam method of base-posture-structure that I actually could create more momentum and leverage by bridging to the shoulder and moving my body underneath the opponents base with actually only one butterfly hook in contact.There are times and different scenarios which will utilize shoulders off the mat and lifting with both butterfly hooks . By the end of the night he had rolled with all 3 #bjjbluebelts and either got a #guardpass a #guardsweep or totally made them work for every sweep and pass. Now he had only recently been a second stripe. What I saw needed to be recognized - #skillisrank. It wasn’t a false positive as each blue belt fights so differently yet Josh was able to apply the concepts of #JiuJitsu he had learned . He comes every practice and supplements with athletic movements, #strengthandconditioning at the gym.
