I don't technically need a dedicated chorus pedal... but chorus is my favorite guitar effect........... and I absolutely cannot justify spending 200€ on a Boss CE-2w even if my birthday is soon................ it sounds so good though :(

so, i think i'm gonna leave my telecaster untouched (except for getting new strings, obviously) and later on when i have other guitars, i want to experiment with modding. especially swapping pickups because dear god the factory pickups that come on budget guitars suck so fucking bad. maybe headstocks too

Soph. my beloved mutual. fandom historian extraordinarie. jh enjoyer #1.
I have a question for you:
While I was watching night #1 I noticed a jh guitar that I didn't remember seeing it before (sorry sjsksks I'm not an expert on his guitars like you). During Orion he had this explorer with ktulu on it and I was "ohhh, nice touch" and then he spinner around and I saw that on the side edge there was something carved into it but I couldn't read it bc there was always something in front of the camera or he was moving away too fast.
It seemed like the first word was "death" but I'm not completely sure bc of the font.
Long story short: do you know what's written on it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
it’s the third verse of thingy: “not dead which eternal lie / stranger eons death may die” & “drain you of you sanity / face the thing that should not be”

Perfectly Clean Mind Control
Whump: psychological abuse, mind control, manipulation, identity altering, (de)conditioning, paranoia.
-
Mind control that doesn't dominate your thoughts, it just... is your thoughts. Perfectly rewriting your will and everything it embodies. Not a single trace of resistance because this is just what you want. Why would you resist your own thoughts? Why would you disagree with your own motivations, your own desires?
Mind control that doesn't shatter once it's done, it just disappears. You don't snap back into awareness. You barely even notice. You just continue as if nothing ever happened. Maybe one moment you look back and you frown, because thinking on it, you remember when you happily followed that person out of town, and you remember what you did, you remember wanting to... but that's crazy. Why did you think that was okay? Why did you want to do that?
Or maybe you were under this mind control for so long that even once it's over you look back and say, "Oh, of course I did that." As far as you're concerned you've always held the beliefs you do now. You've always wanted to do these things. You don't remember why, but you've never had to think of why, and it doesn't matter anyway when you've always been so confident that you're right. It isn't until you're challenged on it all and reminded that you never used to be like this, that you were different before, that something has changed that you finally falter. And you try to think of where this all started, try to figure out why things changed -- and all you can really remember is an entrancing pair of eyes, and a gentle suggestion, and then your own mouth responding, "That's a great idea. Let's go."
And suddenly, you realise that you have no idea how much of what you are, what you were, and what you believed you always have been is just a lie. You don't know whether any thought you have now is really yours or just another preciously placed prompt. You don't trust your impulses, you don't trust your desires, you definitely don't trust your judgement.
You don't trust yourself. And you never can again.

so proud of myself being able to figure out finger picking by ear. I think that's the greatest indicator of how far I've come since starting guitar, just like recognizing notes and having a general idea of where things should go. also the understanding that most finger picking patterns are based on a chord so even if there's other notes in there the main structure will usually be a chord that I know. I was able figure out that Heroin (original demo) is in dropped d and mostly a c chord from about a minute of fucking around. I mean it's a pretty simple song but still!! :)))
