More of the same for homeless PNE
As Championship home records go ours currently rates 22nd out of 24 in the section with only Blackpool and Wigan below us. This 9th defeat against a very ordinary Bristol City side did very little to lift the Deepdale mood with two poor goal concessions and an inability to put the ball in the net at the other end. The mood turned nasty after the game with some comments aimed at the manager which were described as "disgusting and vile" by Ryan Lowe. Im starting to fear for the manager a little, I must admit, as he has simply no idea how to change the game at home contracting with an outstanding record on the road. A gift goal down in six minutes and then a second in added first half time saw North End go in two down and up against it given previous home performances. We did create a few chances in the second half and Evans pulled one back on the our but it was all for nothing as our appalling record at Deepdale continued and some sections of the fan base had clearly had enough.
Just one change for North End from the side beaten by Spurs in the Cup last Saturday and that was Liam Delap coming in for Ben Whiteman. Lowe decided on a change of formation and a supposedly gung-ho approach with three forwards. Just where the gung-ho bit came in I just dont know because within six minutes we were a goal down after a woeful back pass from the usually reliable Robbie Brady was intercepted by Sykes and the Robins were a goal in front. It came just sixty second after a Cannon header was saved at the other end by O'Leary. In fact the Bristol keeper was to play a big part in the game and after the visitors goal O`Leary made some excellent saves, particularly from Browne and Evans. Right on the stroke of half time the Bristol man of the match, Alex Scott, sent Wells away down the right wing and his pacey cross found Bell who slotted home no problem to put City two up at the interval.
Greg Cunningham replaced Liam Lindsay at half time after the centre back had taken a bang on the knee during the first half. North End started a little better with a Cannon effort but once again O`Leary was the to save. However after having a faultless afternoon the Bristol keeper spilled a long range shot from Ryan Ledson and Evans was the first to react to make it 1-2 and bring North End back into the game. North End had a couple of decent chances later on in the game when Delap just couldn't get the ball into his stride and was cleared by a defender. Robbie Brady then had a head which went 90 degrees away from the direction it should have been travelling in. It just about summed up North Ends afternoon and although the triple substitution of Onomah, Fernandez and Potts energised North End a little it was far too late for them to influence the game to any degree and North End left the field to a chorus of boos from those who were left in a crowd of 14,261.
So once again we are left with a poor home performance and asking ourselves where do North End go from here. It is only our form on the road that has kept us in the play off race but can you honestly see this manager getting us into a top six spot. I have to say that at this point in the season with seventeen games left I cant. Home is where the heart is for all football fans at the risk of repeating myself, again, the home form must improve dramatically in the last eight home games of the season or I think the manager could be in trouble. Next weeks trip to Turf Moor is not exactly the sort of fixture you want after another shocker of a home defeat like this but wouldn't it just be like North End to go there and turn them over. One thing is for sure and that is that a poor result at Burnley makes the Luton game on Wednesday 15th a real big date in the diary.

No, you’re not the only one put off by it and I agree with a lot of your points.
It’s not just with trans people and trans issues, obviously - how many people have “Black Lives Matter” in their header or bio, or some kind of “DNI if-” but don’t seem to do anything concrete to back things up.
It’s connected to the point I made about how your consumption or presentation in and of itself is considered enough activism or commitment to change without needing to actually follow through and have it manifested elsewhere in your life or actions.
It’s Rahul Kohli being just so incredibly pro-trans rights that he freely and aggressively called people who were transphobic the c-word, and not seeing or caring how that’s not exactly allyship and how that just exacerbates things.
It’s the fact that the people who are being so gung-ho and just showing how much of a #TransAlly they are by wishing and threatening death and violence and all kinds of nastiness are almost never the same people who are gonna face the fallout or consequences.
And they also inevitably reblog or comment something offensive and transphobic or originating from transphobic sources themselves, and don’t stop to think or look at what they’re doing, because they have “TERFS DNI” or some kind of trans-affirming statement on their blog.
With the JKR stuff, it’s not enough to just say you disagree, or to share something pro-trans, but it’s about burning or destroying merchandise and questioning people who aren’t doing that, and it’s about making sure that other people know or can see that you’re being just so assertive and intensely that way.
What JKR and transphobes and terfs want, like most people with hateful ideologies, is to both get publicity and be able to paint themselves as the wronged and aggrieved party. And all the “TERFS will be hunted” and screenshotting and threatening violence and dramatically tweeting and tiktok-ing about how you’re gonna burn all the HP merchandise and do a Facebook Live of you ripping the books apart etc., all that does is give them exactly what  they want.
Stop consuming, and stop giving them that kind of attention.
Deprive them of the oxygen of publicity.
There’s a difference between pointing out and highlighting their offensive comments and beliefs and giving them publicity and a platform and further motivation.
I think the other thing is to recognize that JKR and terfs are an incredibly vocal but small portion of transphobes, and that it’s almost always more likely to be an old straight white man in a position of power doing the most harm - and using this smaller group to help them justify their actions and behaviors.
Donate to LGBTQ organizations, donate to trans-specific organizations, donate to pro-reproductive rights organizations, donate to legal advocacy organizations, participate in protests, pressure your legislators and lawmakers, vote for pro-equality and pro-LGBTQ candidates and initiatives, make trans people feel comfortable in existing around you and in general.

Check In Tag ✔️
thank you @wirefiish for tagging me!
Why did you choose your URL? -- wanted a [word]trait url and my favorite sim is named trash but trashtrait was taken at the time (mine now in case i ever decide to switch and be just like TT) so i went w/ a synonym
Any side blogs? If you have them name them and why you have them? -- technically no active sideblogs but rn i have simending (old url), trashtrait (url in reserve), and endfound (old cc finds i don’t update)
How long have you been on tumblr? -- since jan/feb 2019 i believe. edit: lmao i forgot this wasn’t a simblr-specific tag. i’ve been on tumblr since like 2012, SIMBLR since 2019 my apologies
Do you have a queue tag? -- nope. i employ deception and confuse you as to whether my posts are real time or not because i enjoy petty villainy
Why did you start your blog in the first place? -- i followed a simblr on my video game blog and then started following others from there and wanted to participate, i didn’t actually play the sims much before i realized you could tell stories in it and then i was gung ho
Why did you choose your icon/pfp? -- i wanted a pink icon so i just made a new sim and did a photoshoot. might change it again bc the vibes are diff now imo
Why did you choose your header? -- my icon/header have to match so
What’s your post with the most notes? --  LMAOOOO it’s this one calling out the terf. my most popular sims post is this one.
How many mutuals do you have? -- 61!
How many followers do you have? -- [redacted]
How many people do you follow? -- 88!
Have you ever made a shitpost? -- lmao when i was checking my top 10 posts for the above question, this was in there
How often do you use tumblr each day? -- a lot atm, i do one big scroll through in the morning and then check it whenever i get bored during the day or when i need to post
Did you have a fight/argument with another blog once? who won? -- i have indirectly fought the terf several times but. win the battle lose the war i think bc she keeps coming back so. who knows. as for fighting someone i like/used to like, no i haven’t! if i dislike someone i just softblock them or hard block if i really do not want to see them
How do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this’ posts? -- it fully depends on whether i agree with it lol
Do you like tag games? -- yeah
Do you like ask games? -- yeah but i think people need to be better about actually asking questions lmao
Which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous? -- idk why this question phrased like this so tagged people please edit this to just “Do you have any mutuals you think are tumblr famous?”
Do you have a crush on a mutual? -- yeah and good fucking luck finding out who
Tags? -- @des-dabbles @goldenhour-s @emotrait @notinmyhousehold @goldenwaves @xldkx @usermoon @voidcreek @poetic-falls @queenofvraquin @plunni feel free to skip and i’m also very sorry if you’ve been tagged already i have no brain

meet the blogger tag game
tagged by the delightful @woodswit (not technically, but it was implied)
1. how/why did you choose your url
Contrary to much internet speculation, I am not in fact from Bremen. But for a time I worked in St. Paul, Minnesota. Plus I am German by ancestry and do enjoy fine German pilsners, so here we are.
2. any side blogs? if you have them, name them and explain why you have them
None whatsoever. I only dabble in tumblr from time to time. However, some years ago I used to maintain a tumblr for my incredibly adorable corgi.
3. how long have you been on tumblr?
I originally joined in 2013 and was a pretty gung-ho blogger for a number of years. Until I decided that I was spending too much time online in general and on tumblr specifically, and it as negatively affecting my productivity and engagement with the real world around me. So I deleted my blog.
I checked in on Tumblr from time to time for a couple of years after that and saw that someone else had snatched up this url, and honestly it was enough to keep me from re-engaging.
Then in late 2019 I noticed that stpauligirl was available again so created a new blog on this url. And began posting again in 2020.
4. do you have queue tag?
No. And to be perfectly frank I do not understand the purpose of the queue tag. Why does it matter if something is queued or posted/reblogged real-time? Will some kind reader please explain it to me?
5. why did you start your blog in the first place?
Back in 2012 I got super hooked on The Lizzie Bennet Diaries webseries and eventually found my way to the fandom here on tumblr in 2013.
6. why did you choose your icon/pfp?
I have seen the question “Were you a Disney or Nickelodeon kid” and the answer is “neither.” I was a Muppets kid. I use this picture of Zoot as my icon because I took this photo at the Muppets exhibit at the Museum of the Moving Imaage slash heaven. Fun fact: like Zoot, I also play Saxophone.
7. why did you choose your header?
No reason, honestly. I pulled some shit from my camera roll and slapped this blog together with minimal care as to the look of it.
8. what’s your post with the most notes?
One of my corgi posts (see #2 above) got 1000 notes. I don’t have any posts on my current blog with a reportable number of notes.
9. how many mutuals do you have?
Only a few. When I re-joined tumblr a couple of years ago I intentionally kept a low profile and only follow a few blogs. This is to prevent against a relapse into tumblr addiction.
10. how many followers do you have?
As I mentioned, just a few.
11. how many people do you follow?
Fewer than 100.
12. have you ever made a shitpost?
Never. I don’t post much original content here on stpauligirl 2.0
13. how often do you use tumblr each day?
once in the am and once again in the pm is normal
14. have you ever had a fight/argument with another blog? who won?
ha! never
15. how do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts?
that shit just doesn’t even register. I’m here to do my own thing
16. do you like tag games?
Despite what you may think based on my small follower/following count, I quite love them! Everyone is so goddamn interesting!
17. do you like ask games?
I love them. I always send an ask whenever I see one. Sometimes as me and sometimes on anonymous. And sometimes both!
18. do you have a crush on a mutual?
yes, all of them (good answer, woodswit!)
tagging @gracelesslady, @balloonwhisk, @mariavlc82, @stars-inthe-sky
(as usual, no pressure to play)

I just saw the argument you had with - that - human being - and you are a saint. I am going to keep my impolite, overly vitriolic opinions of them to myself and merely block them. I am so, so sorry you had to deal with them, but you were far more reasonable than I would've been.
No need to apologize, I’m not upset or anything. And there is absolutely no requirement for some sort of arbitrary “reasonable” when talking about something important, especially when the other person isn’t “discussing” in good faith. No one owes anyone their time and labor in response to any sort of attack or argument... there was just stuff I kind of wanted to say and they gave me the opportunity to do so.
Why I didn’t bother breaking down all the things that were confrontational in that last ask; they wanted to sign their name to their words (to a degree) so I posted it, but. *shrugs*

A-fucking-men Jilly
thank you, lovely
dearophelia  replied to your post “And you have the right to feel that way. I've never referred to my...”
"I've never labeled my criticism as constructive because I know fic authors won't change" so they're actively choosing to be a dick for admittedly no reason.
That person also doesn't have any content, is following two people, has one like, and their mobile header is a standard tumblr header - it's a fake account so they can keep hiding
ohfreckle replied to your post “And you have the right to feel that way. I've never referred to my...”
@dearophelia They made that new account so can continue to troll writers. They've been leaving condescending comments on AO3, and after I posted screenshots on twitter, more and more writers shared the comments they received and called them out. This is just them, being a coward.
Yeah, like. There’s one conversation to be had about where and how to “concrit”
It’s an entirely different conversation re: why bullying is bad and that one basically boils down to the whole “I don’t know how to tell you that you should care about people”
Especially when they are willing to say “I’m not discussing things to hope for change, I just want people to feel bad when they fuck up, based on my narrow definition of fucking up” but then seem confounded when everyone says “you’re a dick”
loquaciousquark replied to your post “And you have the right to feel that way. I've never referred to my...”
That person doesn't even have asks enabled. For someone demanding public profiles be 100% open to criticism, they're a gigantic hypocrite.
that too, yeah
syzara replied to your post “Guess we'll have to agree to disagree. You believing that the archive...”
the arrogance and entitlement is strong with this one. i wonder why they want your permission to act shitty; anonymously to boot. /sigh
That is the question, isn’t it? Like “I am going to be mean to people about their hobby” but then “I have every right to say this, stop yelling at me for being mean”
It’s kind of like the “Free speech means I can say it!” argument
Yeah, but that doesn’t mean you should
sinvraal replied to your post “Guess we'll have to agree to disagree. You believing that the archive...”
Seconded, and the anonymity of the ask says a lot. :/ I mean how hard is it not to bully people... in what world does yelling at a stranger over fiction make anything better.
teaandinanity replied to your post “Guess we'll have to agree to disagree. You believing that the archive...”
I am intrigued that Anon is apparently so gung-ho about THEIR right to criticize people for anything they care to, but gets defensive about you saying (politely) 'that's really rude tho.' You're not even criticizing them harshly and they hate it, and yet empathy is apparently still a foreign concept. :\
todisturbtheuniverse replied to your post “Guess we'll have to agree to disagree. You believing that the archive...”
amazing how much this person apparently believes in their position but won't attach their name to it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
And even when they break anonymity (sp?) they only half-way get there
Discuss things with me! Only I will give you no platform with which to do things and continue to insult people instead! *eyeroll*

Roma 4-2 Liverpool (agg 6-7): Sadio Mane and Wijnaldum seal final place

Roma 4-2 Liverpool (agg 6-7): Sadio Mane and Wijnaldum seal final place
They rode their luck, more than a little. They could have had their goalkeeper sent off. They could have conceded two more penalties. They could have been hanging on for dear life, come the end, or worse.
Yet Liverpool will play Real Madrid in Kiev on May 26, because they got it right. They knew what they were best at. They didn’t come to Rome in two minds about whether to dig in to defend a three-goal lead. Attack is the best form of defence, with this team.
And so Jurgen Klopp, while not being a gung-ho lunatic, sent his players out to hurt Roma as much as Roma sought to hurt them. As a result, Liverpool got the goals required to ensure Roma’s four were consolation and no more. They were never behind on the night until the 86th minute when it was far too late, and never less than two goals up on aggregate throughout this second leg, except in injury time.

Subs not used: Mignolet, Moreno, Ings, Woodburn.
Goals: Mane 9, Wijnaldum 25
Bookings: Lovren, Solanke.
Manager: Jurgen Klopp.
Referee: Damir Skomina (Slovenia).
One might say the tie was never in doubt, were it not for those breaks courtesy of Slovenian referee Damir Skomina.
He missed a handball by Trent Alexander-Arnold that could have been a penalty, and his assistant gave Edin Dzeko offside when he was probably on, and was quite definitely then taken out by Loris Karius. The locals howled their displeasure, but over two legs the better team went through.
In both legs, Roma have only dominated at the point when Liverpool sought to close the game down. When both teams were at it, Liverpool were superior. Roma knew the size of their task but could not muster one of those periods that have set Liverpool apart in Europe this season — an attacking frenzy that as good as puts a tie to bed. Liverpool raced to a 5-0 lead at Anfield and, for all their pressure, Roma could not replicate it here. They won the game, but too late to change the outcome of the tie.
Radja Nainggolan scored the goal that put Roma ahead — but in the 86th minute. He converted the penalty that made the final score 7-6 on aggregate, but with almost the last kick of the match. And while it may not reflect well on Liverpool that a team needing three goals scored four against them — Real Madrid are next up — it also speaks volumes that a team who had not conceded at home in Europe all season should be a goal down after nine minutes and 2-1 down after 25.

The Senegal international falls to his knees as he celebrates scoring Liverpool’s sixth goal in the two-legged, semi-final tie
Jurgen Klopp celebrates with a fist pump after seeing Liverpool go one ahead on the night and four ahead on aggregate
Klopp re-emerged 40 minutes after the game to celebrate with the penned-in Liverpool fans.
He will know his team must approach the final as they did this game. No compromises, no holds barred. They work ferociously in midfield, but that is not the same as shutting a game down. What they do have, though, is the ability to slug it out. To match Madrid blow for attacking blow.
If they had not gone for Roma in the first half, they would have lost the tie, not just the match — that much is clear. Having seen Real Madrid in action against Bayern Munich on Tuesday, all that can be guaranteed of the final is it will not be a 0-0 draw.
What must also be hoped is that Liverpool have not used up all their luck in this 90 minutes. Not just with the penalties Skomina missed, but the calamitous errors that aided their two goals.
Nainggolan, the Belgium midfielder, explained before the game why he preferred Roma to Premier League suitors, including Chelsea. He said he enjoyed a challenge and the extent of this thrill-seeking we now know. There are few challenges greater than needing three goals to win a tie and making it four so soon into the match.
A clearance from Dejan Lovren (No 6) smashes into James Milner’s face and deflects into the Liverpool goal to make it 1-1
Liverpool midfielder Milner looks dejected after he scores the most unfortunate of own goals to give Roma the equaliser
Wijnaldum (No 5) is left with a simple header after a failed clearance from a corner sees the ball fall to him in the six-yard box
Wijnaldum points to a figure on the Liverpool bench as he runs to celebrate his first away goal for the club at a crucial time
Edin Dzeko shoots past Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius to draw the game level on the night and move Roma to within three
Dzeko directs his Roma team-mate to retrieve the ball as they continue their attempts to get back on terms with Liverpool
Trent Alexander-Arnold appears to prevent Stephan El Shaarawy from scoring a goal with his hand but no one appealed
Nainggolan’s pass that turned Roma’s attack into forlorn defence for Liverpool’s ninth-minute opener was suicidal. He gave the ball directly to Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian didn’t waste his opportunity. He tore into Roma’s hastily back-pedalling four and fed Sadio Mane, overlapping on the left. He drew goalkeeper Alisson and finished smartly.
It was the perfect start for Liverpool. Their three strikers now have 29 goals, the highest tally of any trio in this competition, beating the 28 scored by Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in 2013-14.
That Roma pulled one back so quickly was more by luck than judgment. James Milner is having a great Champions League, but an unlucky semi-final. He was harshly ruled to have handled for the penalty at Anfield, and here he scored an own goal in which his role was that of a human rebound rubber on a penalty box pinball machine.
The impressive Stephan El Shaarawy won a header against Alexander-Arnold on the right and Dejan Lovren went for distance with his clearance. Unfortunately, the trajectory was interrupted by Milner’s head, the ball cannoning off him and back past Karius.
The noise inside the Stadio Olimpico whenever Roma got near goal gave the impression Liverpool were under siege. It wasn’t quite like that. Early on, Liverpool gave as good as they got, even if Mohamed Salah was not at his Messi-like best. They do have players who frighten teams into making mistakes, though, and another error restored their lead after 25 minutes.
Roma’s Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan puts them ahead on the night with a long-range effort with just five minutes left
The midfielder is congratulated by his team-mate Cengiz Under as they look to mount an unlikely comeback late in the game
Nainggolan smashes home a penalty to put Roma within just one goal of forcing extra time but it turned out to be the final kick
Roma’s Cengiz Under reacts with dejection after missing an excellent chance to score as Liverpool’s Karius clutches the ball
Dzeko puts his head in his hands after missing a chance to put Roma into the lead on the night and within two on aggregate
Initially, Alisson made an excellent save from Mane at the near post, but what followed was chaos. Roma didn’t get the corner away and Edin Dzeko, under pressure, ended up heading an attempted clearance back towards his own goal. Georginio Wijnaldum, the happy recipient of a Champions League final place that would otherwise have belonged to the luckless Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, was first to react and headed the loose ball past Alisson. It should have been all over, Roma now needing four just to take the game to extra time, but the Italians are nothing if not optimistically relentless. They didn’t give up. And Liverpool got two hefty slices of luck.
Soon after the break Dzeko broke away and was up-ended crudely in the penalty area by Karius. It would have been a penalty, maybe even a red card for the keeper, but a linesman’s flag was raised. Erroneously, replays showed. Dzeko looked a fraction on. Roma could have been a goal and a man to the good. It was a crucial point in the match.
So, too, the decision to overlook Alexander-Arnold’s handball, charging down a shot from Patrik Schick. His arm was raised above his body and the ball clearly struck a hand, preventing it from reaching goal. Seen them given? Yes, and plenty of times, too.
Meaning the comeback would have had considerably more consequence with two goals added to it. As it was, Dzeko’s equaliser, a Nainggolan shot that Karius appeared to think was going wide and a rather harsh penalty award against Ragnar Klavan gave the illusion Liverpool were clinging on. In reality, everything happened with the final grains of sand slipping away.

2: Any side blogs? if you have them, name them and why you have them.
i have a ~secret~ side blog where i reblog all the memes and videos that catch my fancy but don’t really mesh with the vibes of my main. i also have a source blog called [redacted] that is going to be unveiled very soon 👀
3: How long have you been on tumblr?
this blog was made in january but i joined tumblr in 2014... oof
4: Do you have a queue tag?
“it was queue i wanted all along” throwing in some basimeivor there. hard to keep up with tho
5: Why did you start your blog in the first place?
i’ve always really liked assassin’s creed, but to be honest i specifically made this blog to find the basim thirst because i knew it had to be out there
6: Why did you choose your icon/pfp?
i didn’t have many ac pics saved at the time. so i googled the most easily identifiable ac valhalla pic i could think of. and it’s been here since january so now i guess i’m stuck with it. brand recognition babeyyy <3

the same thing as the above icon, but also because it’s a super cool piece of official art that features basim and eivor. make have to actually make a header at some point tho lol
8: What’s your post with the most notes?

oh certainly. my aforementioned dev patel post is a good example, along with probably 80% of my other personal posts. also my top ac posts are memes lol
13: How often do you use tumblr each day?
put a gun to my head and i might answer this
14: Did you ever have a fight/argument with another blog once? who won?
not really an argument, but sometimes the valhalla fandom just loves to make ship war vague posts like it’s 2014 again sdkfsjdlf
15: How do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts?
super annoying. guilt tripping performative activism
16: Do you like tag games?
i like them, i think they’re very cute! but i often forget or get too embarrassed  👉👈
17: Do you like ask games?
yes! i love how they let me talk to my mutuals and followers. but i try not to reblog them too often because i don’t want people to feel like i’m spamming their dashboard
19: Do you have a crush on a mutual?

Euro 2020 qualifier - Michael O'Neill discusses the Netherlands weakness that Northern Ireland will look to exploit
Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill wants his side to take advantage of the pressure Holland is under to qualify for their first major tournament of Euro Cup 2020 since 2014. Football fans can book Northern Ireland Euro Cup Tickets on our website on exclusively discounted prices.
O'Neill's team will be overwhelming underdogs against the Dutch in Thursday night's crucial Euro Cup 2020 clash in Rotterdam. Holland's recent record when the crunch comes in qualifying campaigns offers hope.
Tumblr media
After missing out on Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup, Ronald Koeman was recruited last year to end what is viewed as an embarrassing run in the Netherlands. Koeman inspired the Dutch to the Nations League decider in the summer when they lost to Portugal.
Now the heat is on to take his home country back to the big time. Northern Ireland is in a position to extend the pain. Germany is primed to qualify from Group C, with the other spot between the nations currently in second and third places in the table.
Whoever comes out on top in the Northern Ireland v Holland double-header, starting in Rotterdam on Thursday and ending at Windsor Park next month, will qualify for Euro 2020 without needing a play-off.
"Holland will view themselves as a team capable of winning the European Championships but they have to get there," said O'Neill.
Tumblr media
O'Neill suffered a blow when Norwich City left-back Jamal Lewis pulled out of his squad due to a knee wound.
"They have missed the last two competitions, obviously Russia (2018 World Cup) and France (Euro 2016), so that's an added pressure on them. This Holland squad isn't seasoned with the experience of previous squads and maybe that's something we can exploit."
A heavy defeat away to the Dutch would be a killer blow to Northern Ireland's chances of qualifying from the group. O'Neill insists, however, that he is refusing to think about the possibility of the play-offs and the convoluted way they are set up.
"It is too complicated to do that and there is too much football to be played," he said.
Tumblr media
My focus has been on trying to finish in the top 2 positions in our group. The play-offs are not something I would debate with the players. Our focus last month was on trying to defeat Germany.
"If that isn't in our favor, we have to hope we are thrown a lifeline through the play-offs. If that is the case, we'll be delighted, but right now it is not something we have put any focus on."
We didn't succeed to do that, so our emphasis now moves to Holland and in these two games to find the results we need to qualify. O'Neill will adopt a more cautious approach in Holland than the gung-ho display which rattled Germany.
"We are playing a team right at the top level and this will be even more difficult than Germany because we are away from home," stated O'Neill
"We always wanted to create head-to-heads at the end of the group and that's what we have. We are in a double-header with Holland, and I believe if we get four points we will qualify. That's the challenge for us."
At Koeman's press conference yesterday, Northern Ireland didn't crop up, with the Dutch media focusing on the home players. That should change as the week progresses.
