have been rewatching some Owl House in preparation of the finale and wow, it's a really good show

The amount of prep for my watch party for WaD maybe a little insane (I took off work and am doing a Kings Tide, TtT and FtF rewatch which I CALCULATED the amount of time I’d need before to do — ordering food + snacks and have literally nothing else to do the day of than prepare to watch) but BABES I am so excited oh my god! Hunter to have a significant and emotional part to play in this episode/learning he’s related to Eda in at least a small way.

Caleb to have some speaking lines or I really might cry. Like truly the disappointment might make me hate the episode without that.

Eda, her loving, crazy mama she gained in the DR. There will always be a special bond between them for Eda being the first person (other than Camila) to except all her qurks and interests embrace her for it. Mom/crazy aunt to all the kids

Raine, her DR parent. Gives great advice especially for anxiety related issues. Absolutely a teen rebellion role model (THE Raine Whispers?!). Teaches her all the best bard spells and is always super patient

Lilith, cool aunt always down for bad girl™ shenanigans and adventures, ready to help with any and all school related questions 24/7

King, little brother. Would do anything for each other and both super protective. Number 1# cuddle buddy. Will always make groan inducing puns together

Vee, her's/Hunter's little sister and Camila's daughter. Had a bit of a bumpy start at first but after some hard truths and life or situations are now 100% sisters. Vee seems like the voice of reason but in actuality is incredibly fierce and ready to kill to protect her family. They give each other wildly different dating advice

Emira & Edric, Amity's siblings/Luz's future siblings in-law/Hunter's step siblings??. Chaos twins. Probably founded the Lumity fan club. They are the friends you go to when you "know a guy". Always down to commit illegal acts and have the bail money ready. Constantly teasing

Alador, Amity and Em & Ed's dad/Luz's future father in-law/probably Darius husband/Hunter's step dad??. Very supportive of his kids relationships and always doing his best to make time and listen to them. Thought Luz was a member of the family 5 minutes ago. Probably already has the wedding planned

Darius, rich wine uncle/Hunter's dad/Amity, Em & Ed's step dad??/Alador's husband??. Acts like he doesn't care but will fight anyone who hurts his kid('s). Not so silently judging everyone's outfits. Goes to every sports match. Teaches Amity and Hunter crazy abomination spells because he claims Alador is to much of a hack to be trusted

Eberwolf, fun/crazy uncle/Darius' little brother. Has shown everyone what would probably be considered illegal beast keeping magic. Rides on people's shoulders whenever someone is having a bad day. Gives the kids tips on the best way to annoy Darius

Steve, the guy who just kind of showed up and is now everyone's honorary big brother. Gives rides on motorcycle. Like Em & Ed is also the guy you go to when you "know a guy". Hooks everyone up with a therapist

i don’t know about u but i relate to each and every one of the owl house characters so much. and they make me feel safe on a different level. and it’s not like id ever type a 15 page long essay about it what do you mea

thinking about when Amity stopped herself from watching Luz’s video without her permission despite being immensely worried. thinking about when she confronted Luz and made sure to communicate first and comforted her instead of accusing her of stuff and how Healing it was for me to watch that. thinking of Lumity’s enemies to lovers and how obsessed i was and how completed i felt. this ship meant so much to me no one will ever know. forever the kiss scene the animation the dialogue everything i will cry thinking about it Every Time 

thinking about Willow and Gus’s friendship. thinking about them so hard. i personally relate to both Willow and Gus soooo strongly. Willow is me in so many aspects: the therapist friend, kind of underestimated, sort of the mom but also cradled as the child and Gus is just a silly guy as well as the smallest one in the friend group which i highly relate to. strangers tell me and my twin sister apart by me being smaller than her and my friends call me short and small on a daily basis. okay and them together is Crazy. i loved the way they met and Willow’s tactic to calm down ive been using for a few months now whenever i have a really bad day. and it genuinely helps so Fucking much so i will forever owe that to TOH. i think my dream will always be to have friends like the two of them 

don’t Even fucking get me started on King and Eda and Hooty and Luz and the actual owl house. my home actually. they mean the absolute most to me out of the whole show. when they reunited in s3 i cried for a good hour. im shedding a tear writing this. oh my fucking god i don’t know what it is about them but their found family thing they have going on is insane. they will honestly forever mean more to me than the hexsquad. no words will explain how much like home they feel to me. on my worst days i imagine being there. oh MY GOSH OH MY GOD AND WHEN EDA SAID “alright, kid. listen to me. im going away, and i don't know if i can bounce back this time. watch over King, remember to feed Hooty. and Luz, thank you for being in my life”. top 10 hardest times i cried. I sobbed so hard my chest hurt. 

ok next Hunter. to be honest i was never the biggest fan of him merely because of how over hyped he was by the fandom just because they all had crushes on him but he’s genuinely such a cool guy. he was such fucking good representation and idk but the way we got to watch him form relationships with everyone. it was beautiful. and i heavily relate to him despite him being a sort of grouchy dude and me being an overexcited puppy. he’s got this gifted kid burnout and obsession with validation vibe that is identical to mine and it means a lot to me to see my weirdest most annoying toxic traits seen in him

okay as you can tell im unhealthily attached to this show. these paragraphs are kind of silly but i don’t think anyone will Ever Ever understand no matter how many words i write . i remember starting the show in quarantine and being so obsessed with it and staying in bed all day. i had to hold in my smiles all the time it was exhausting. one time i tried to explain the show to my sister and i cried and couldn’t stop. it’s been a while since it’s ended but i still think about it on a weekly basis.

Amphibia — I love this show SO much! The dynamics between Sasha, Anne and Marcy are immaculate and play off of the frogs, toads and newts so well; you have to watch this show if you haven’t yet. This goes for the whole list BTW. ^^

Owl House — I love this show, but I feel less of a connection than Amphibia because I watched Amphibia first ;-; THE BEST thing about this show is the characters. Amity, Raine, Hunter, Luz and Gus are the best characters IMO.

Deltarune — OMIGOSH PLZ TALK TO ME DELTARUNE FANS. TELL ME ALL OF YOUR THEORIES AND HC’s. If you cannot tell, I love Toby Fox games. Especially this one. I am Noelle (real) /j. Love all of the characters in this game. Not one I don’t like. (Maybe King -7-)

LOVE UNDERTALE. Don’t think I have to say that since they’re probably connected, (sorry Toby i just don’t trust you when you say that they aren’t ;u;) I will post about Undertale when we get news relating to the game!

Walten Files — Woah, if you’re reading this part this probably means you at least know what this is. Yeah that analog horror videos on YouTube. Also TW if you watch this… Uhh, used to be really into this one, but my interest has faded. I will be all over TWF4 whenever it comes out, but until now I’ll be posting about it scarcely. Disventure Camp — YES, THIS IS BETTER THAN TDAS, TDPI AND TDA. And yes, that was my opinion ofc. Anyway, more about Disventure Camp… ALLY, TESS AND HUNTER ARE ALL IN A POLY-RELATIONSHIP. Again, my opinion, but it makes so much sense! I’ll ofc respect your opinions. Also Aiden and James all the way.

Danganrompa Another — SORA AND YOUROKO IS MY COMFORT SHIP. Respect to Weeby Newz (YT) for getting me into this amazing fangan. So much better than the Source material. I recommend this fan-game for everyone but HUGE TW for the first game and a even bigger one for the sequel. We all meme on Mitch here. (Anyone glorifying Mitch Higa without being ironic DNI)

Danganrompa Edens Garden — OOH THE PROLOGUE LOOKED SO GOOD. If you’re looking for a alternative from the problematic air around the Main Danganrompa games, look no further than this game. ME AND JETT DAWSON ARE LITERALLY DATING. but … if I can’t have him cause he’s not real … he can date Mark. BUT I WONT BE HAPPY ABOUT IT. /j (I’m also a MarkDawson shipper so <: )

Inanimate Insanity — POSSIBLY MY OLDEST AND FIRST HYPER-FIXATION?? Bright lights forever! Anyway,,, Plot and Pacing: 2nd Season. Quality: 3rd Season. Sorry not sorry, the First season is problematic and unfunny. Anyway Cabby can marry me. (/hj) This animated YouTube series is so good!

Dead End: Paranormal Park — I NEED THE BOOKS AHHH. Love this show for the amazing Rep alone. THAT ALSO GOES FOR THE OWL HOUSE AS WELL. The story is great. It’s somehow Realistic and Supernatural at the same time!!?!

Sort of related to the discussion we were having earlier today about potential reunions and McWexler making a choice not to be poison together...

What do you make of this quote by Bob? Reading between the lines, it seems to kind of dash that hope for a second chance for them in the post-Gene era? What with his saying that basically there's nothing Kim and Jimmy can offer each other in the long run, and their relationship has sort of reached its natural end. Or do you think it's more about the context of their breakup, specifically?

I just kind of feel that given the thing Jimmy wanted most in the world was to be loved and share a life with Kim, not giving any glimmer of hope that that might be possible in his future, after all this pain, seems kind of bleak?

i lowkey disagree with this quote, if he's speaking about their relationship as a whole and not the breakup alone, but i also respectfully disagreed with bob when he said bcs was less "relatable" than brba (bcs is FAR more human and accessible to me overall, even in regards to, like, mike and gus, which isn't even getting into why jimmy is far more empathetic than walt could ever hope to be. bobby, king, what are you talking about?) i don't think it's fair to say they couldn't come to a better place together because they haven't TRIED. this isn't fate, this is a choice. they could've made the choice to be better. i also disagree that they don't seem to help each other in the long run because...well, saul's entire existence. saul is the greatest case against that. kim thinking they're "okay" on their own is a fallacy. idk i am super opposed to the "chuck/howard were right, jimmy was born this way and can never do anything to change or improve it, and kim let herself be pulled down too and is nothing but wasted potential" perspective. that's nihilistic and depressing as hell. i don't...buy into the concept that we are forever trapped to be a certain way or that bad choices and mistakes simply have to doom you forever. it's something i actively rebel against in storytelling, and i'd hate to see them come down on the conclusive side of that.

SO. the owl house.

first off, i'm gonna talk about Luz + the main gang bc i absolutely love them. so you have Luz, who's insane but like. in a lovable way. like if i knew her irl i would probably be terrified of her but she's also really nice and stuff!! just like. no self preservation instinct. anyway she's unhinged but very fun !

then Eda, aka the Owl Lady, aka wine aunt extraordinaire. she's very much like Luz except i would actually trust her with my life and she's a sweetheart and i want her to adopt me so fucking bad. also she's cursed and that's kinda fun. sometimes. actually it isn't but she sure looks cool when she's in her owl/monster/beast/evil form-

Hooty (i. spelled that as hotty at first and am extremely ashamed) and King are the first siblings that Luz obtains. Hooty (oh my FUCKING god why do i keep calling him hotty) is obnoxious and can take off his own skin, which is horrific, and King is a very good boy. certified munchkin. i wanna pet him.

then there's everyone at school who i love So Much, Gus is my child and Willow is so fucking badass and Amity is girlfriend™ (just not at first). honorable mention for Principal Bump because he will forever be the best magical school principal and i wanna give him a hug

i really kinda thought the show was boring for the majority of the first season, but holy fuck did it deliver around ep16-ish. like everything starts to come together, we get a main villain (Belos), a main quest (getting the portal back), and more stuff!! it's just really awesome, it became one of my favorite series in just two episodes.

i really love how Eda's sister (her name has currently been forgotten lol) became friends with Hooty, they got such a nice friendship after everyone kinda hated Hooty and it made me really happy.

THEN!!!! ENTER HUNTER (aka my favorite fucking character of all time currently). just. omg. Zuko but Even More Traumatized (probably. maybe). it's so hard to tell what he's thinking, especially when he's first introduced. he's really cheerful and....well, not friendly, but he's very confident and boisterous, and clearly believes that he's a good person/on the right side. on the other hand, even in his first few episodes it's really obvious he's uh. not that mentally healthy. (like in the scenes where he starts infodumping about something he's read and then just kinda. cuts himself off. that was so relatable it made me sad every time hgfdfghjhgf)

and then the big reveal about him in s2e16, oh my god. i called a lot of the major plot twists but the fact that he's literally a fucking clone of Belos's probably-brother??? imagine how mentally fucked up finding that out would make you. he held himself together Surprisingly Well considering his entire life was shattered in like. less than an hour and he realized he was going to fucking die if he ever saw his uncle again. like. just imagine. he's already been abused so much (personal hc of mine that Belos gave him those scars) and he's already terrified of Belos, but he doesn't really think Belos is going to kill him. maybe hurt him, maybe demote him or something else bad but he doesn't think he's going to die and then he finds out that literally all oF HIS PREDECESSORS WERE MURDERED BY BELOS???? AND THAT HE WAS JUST SOMETHING THAT COULD BE THROWN AWAY IF HE MESSED UP OR DID ANYTHING BAD??????? CMON BRO THAT'S A-TIER WRITING

and his dynamic with the rest of the characters is so great, i love how he and Luz always bicker with each other but then work together, and Amity being able to relate to him and trying to make him feel better at the lake/titan blood mine and him and Willow and Gus are just like siblings they're so adorable. Gus helping him with his panic attack is one of my favorite scenes in any show i've ever watched and i am not kidding about that. they're just so ugh. showing him that he can be loved and it's not his fault and hhhaahahahhaaaaaaaaaaaa *loud screeching*

the whole day of unity thing was absolutely incredible, i love how Darius and animal coven dude and Raine were actually trying to stop the day of unity before the mcs even really knew how big of a deal it was, and i love that you can't tell that Darius and animal dude were on the good side until wayyyyy after Raine's assumedly captured by them. it's really good writing. (also Darius is Hunter's Dad™. i do and will not take criticism on this.)

btw don't even get me started on Raine istfg- they make me so incredibly happy. just. the fact that they're so badass and wonderful and Definitely not in love with Eda and their magic is so cool and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. seeing a canon nb character is something that gives me a lot of courage, just the way that everyone respects their pronouns and is totally chill about it makes me so incredibly happy (especially in the last few days. hah.) i need to see more of Raine, especially after that finale bc oh god what if they're dead or something?????? i'm so scared

aLSO ALSO!!!! the Collector is baby. i would adopt him (them?) in 2.0 seconds if i could. he deserves to be happy and have friends and not be betrayed by everyone who he helps. i honestly feel super bad for him, he's just a lil god kid who wants to play w ppl :((( why is everyone afraid of himmm

the season two finale killed me btw. i'm dead. deceased. writing this from my coffin. like wtf are they gonna do now that Raine (and everyone else) is dead/dying and Eda doesn't have an arm and the kids are both stuck in the human world and Extremely traumatized (looking at you Hunter) and King's stuck with the Collector (who he betrayed and who is probably not gonna be very happy about that)???? i'm going insane. legitimately when i finished i just kinda closed my computer and said "oh my god" out loud. i cannot handle this i'm so scared omg

that being said i really want to see the gang's reaction to the human world. i wanna see Gus obsessing over paperclips again :( i feel like there's so much potential for the gang to all be adopted by Luz's mom and i am HERE for it. Hunter needs a mom asap

The first character I first fell in love with: GUS !!!!!!!!!!!!! i think eda would maybe be an obvious answer but gus is just such a delight his whole introduction as a human realm fanatic had me instantly charmed and just also made him so relatable and every appearance he had since has literally never disappointed me. i just love characters who have a lot of enthusiasm for whatever niche thing theyre interested in, and gus also has the extra detail of literally being a child prodigy who skipped a bunch of grades which i think would be easy to go in the route of them being snobbish or too focused on proving themselves thru their schoolwork to focus on much else but gus is such a friendly and warm character and the bond he forms with willow and luz (and then later hunter) is just so genuine and touching to watch. i like that he still gets to be insecure and make immature choices but it's never something that like, detracts from the confidence you already watched him gain or it's not the only problem that troubles him ! genuinely just such a good character. more gus forever

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: kind of tied between king and amity ? i was prepared to be kind of annoyed with the direction she mightve took as "mean kid who is actually under a lot of pressure bc of her terrible family" but i think the writers have been able to avoid those pitfalls and craft her into a character you come to really care about and root for (i think this is also helped by showing that the twins similarly like. arent monsters. like they all care about each other). with regards to king i kind of just thought he was going to be relegated to a funny sidekick G0D HAVE I NEVER BEEN MORE HAPPY TO BE WRONG !! The character everyone else loves that I don’t: man idk all the characters are pretty good. like toh has a completely excellent cast of characters from reoccurring/main cast to side characters... i think this is a rate instance where i can see everybody actually really loves the main cast and seems to be somewhat less interest in side characters but also ! im not super "active" or w/e in the fandom so i could be wrong The character I love that everyone else hates: same as above The character I used to love but don’t any longer: UMMM so far this has not happened !!!! i hope it doesnt i have faith in the writing team The character I would totally smooch: RAINE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1. Tharn & Type in TharnType (Thailand) obviously. I may have my issues with this flipping show but chemistry is NOT one of them.

2. Shi De & Shu Yi in We Best Love (Taiwan). The ache with these two just never goes away even when they are happily together.

I want the next episode Camila is in to have an A plot of her, Luz and Eda doing some isolated adventure on their own, with Luz torn between her two maternal figures and Eda and Camila having a frank adult conversation about Luz’s needs and safety. 

The B Plot, however:

Gus: Ok guys, we need to convince Luz’s mom to let her stay on the boiling isles! Let’s practice our arguments on this illusion!

Willow: Luz should sty with us because she is an incredibly talented witch and an amazing friend. She has improved the lives of everyone she has met and inspires me every day. 

Gus: Luz should stay in the demon realm and, in order to make thing balanced, I will go in her place as the foremost expert on human affairs in order to balance out the law of equivalent exchange!

Camila Illusion: Not only are you right Augustus, but as mayor of the human realm, I now appoint you chief expert on human/witch relations! You will be granted a jet ski to fly across our human skies to the mystical fabled land of Flavortown!

King: This sounds fake, but I don’t know enough about human culture to dispute it. 

Gus: Well let’s see you try!

King, an actual nine year old, grabs the illusion’s leg and starts sobbing.

Amity: Ahem. Hello Ms.Noceda. My name is Amity Blight and I would like to ask you for your daughter’s hand in marriage - nope, I’m a child - I would like to ask you to let me continue seeing your daughter - not that it’s your decision - oh jeez, no, I should respect you. oh no I’m failing this. You’re gonna take Luz away forever and I’m gonna die alone in a barrel of abomination ooze like my grandfather. Is it raining? Is it hot in here? Am I sweating? Oh mama-

Amity just crumples on the floor unconscious.

Amity and Portals *SPOILER WARNING FOR LEAKED EPISODE TITLES AND SYNOPSIS*

I think it’s really important to note how involved Amity is with the portal storyline. 

Based on a promo, in Through The Looking Glass Ruins, Amity seems to be helping Luz research on portals so she can find a way back home.

And based on the leaked synopsis of Eclipse Lake, as Luz is sick, Amity needs to find an important ingredient for the portal door. That relation to portals again.

And it’s possible that Luz probably finding a way back home in Yesterday’s Lie, has something to do with the events in Eclipse Lake. Which means Amity was involved.

Out of all the characters, Amity’s the one to help Luz in finding a way back home. She’s the one involved with the deeply with the portal arc.

And from a story-line perspective, why would they involve Amity in this arc?

Is it possibly foreshadowing? Or something more? Are they planning something bigger? In terms of Luz and Amity’s relationship?

Oh, and I’m not just talking about their blossoming romance. 

Luz was Amity’s first real friend in a very very long time. Luz is one of the main reasons Amity has been able to change for the better. Luz has had so much impact in Amity’s life in these past couple of weeks than anyone else has had in the past couple of years.

Luz and Amity’s relationship has blossomed beautifully throughout the show. They’ve gone from misunderstandings to eventual reconciliation to a blooming friendship to full-on supporting, protecting and standing up for each other. It’s so beautiful (yeah, no, no, I’m absolutely not hyperventilating whilst analysing, that’s ridiculous!)

All this beautiful build-up from bittersweet rivalry to a evolving friendship to an eventual romance and we’re forgetting one important, one very daunting detail staring at us right in the face.

Luz isn’t going to stay here forever.

Luz needs to go home. She needs to go back to the human realm.

And yes, that’s going to impact every character in the show. Everyone that Luz is close too. Eda, King, Gus, Willow, etc.

Everyone.

But with Amity...with Amity...

What makes it even more daunting to her is that Luz is the first and only person she’s been close too in a really long time.

That’s because Luz was the first to tap into her lonely, cold bubble. Add some warmth to it and help her expand it.

Sure, Amity’s relationship with her siblings is improving, and sure, she’s slowly patching things up with Willow.

But it’s not the same. Her strongest relationship right now is her one with Luz. Her other relationships are either at a repairing stage, or they’re completely abusive, or they were pretend. 

That’s why it’s so daunting to Amity. And how she’s so engaged in the portal arc opens up a doorway to some sort of resolution to all these...problems. 

And it does bring back a more bittersweet tone to their dynamic. One that’s absolutely necessary based on the situation they’re in.

I would say more about the impact on Luz in this situation. But I’m holding that off until after Through The Looking Glass Ruins (ahem...because a recent episode just had Luz blushing over Amity, complicated position and I need another episode for more insight). 

I am intrigued to see more to the this portal arc though in all ways. Very very intrigued.
