The Perfect Gift
Tumblr media
Happy Valentines Day to all! So when you’re Single AF like me what better way to spend the day than to write about CS spending Valentines Day? So here it is, Captain Swan with Captain Beauty friendship.
SUMMARY: When Killian learns about Valentine’s Day and Emma won’t go into much detail, he consults Belle who helps him plan the perfect gift for Emma. Pure Valentine’s Day Fluff. Also on A03
Set in the 6 weeks of peace, let’s say Valentine's Day was during this time.
Killian Jones liked to think he was getting the hang of this strange world. Emma had given him a talking phone to contact her when he needed to. Well he’d mastered the Emma button, and half the time she would answer. But most times he would leave a voice message.
He was also getting Belle to help him understand texting, she had described it as writing a letter that is delivered instantly and Emma can read it and reply with a letter of her own when she sees it. There were also funny little drawings when you could send in the text, Belle had said the name before but he couldn’t remember-it was a funny little name. But they had faces, happy, crying and even little heart drawings which he liked to send at the end of his letter-text-to Emma. He saw the way her face lit up when she opened one in front of him once, and he wanted that reaction every time so he continued to use them.
On the topic of hearts, Killian was seeing them all over Storybrooke lately. It was overnight almost, heart shaped teddy bears had appeared in the stores, and even Granny’s was decorated with them. Everything was decorated in pink and red, was this normal for this world? Or was there some strange love curse that had affected the town?
“What’s with all these hearts popping up around town?” He asks Emma when they’re having breakfast at Granny’s one morning.
Taking a break from her stack of pancakes, “It’s Valentine’s Day next week. It’s a stupid holiday we have in this world don’t worry about it.” Emma didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, she had never celebrated Valentine’s Day before unless she was catching a perp and she didn’t want to stress Killian out about it-he was busy figuring out how to save the fairies, Valentine’s Day wasn’t important.
But that didn’t explain the hearts. What was a celebration of hearts all about? And why was Emma so against it?
He turns to Belle, hoping she’d have the answers.
“Valentine’s Day is a holiday this world celebrates. The hearts are popping up over town because it’s a holiday about love, you ask someone you love or like, to be your Valentine. You normally get each other a card and a present maybe, or even go out for a romantic dinner.” Belle explains. Killian assumes she must not be feeling great about this holiday of love after banishing the Dark One.
“So I’m supposed to ask Emma to be my Valentine? And get her a heart shaped gift?” Killian liked the idea of this holiday. Even though those 3 special words hadn’t been spoken yet, he knew how Emma felt about him. He also wanted to show Emma how much she meant to him.
Belle chuckles as she looks through one of her books. “You don’t have to get her something heart shaped. But you could get her something special-something you know she likes or would like. Some girls receive jewellery from their boyfriends, or knowing Emma she may appreciate a Granny’s gift card!”
“Would you help me? I want to find Emma the perfect gift for this Valentine’s Day.” Killian assumed considering her past, she hasn’t celebrated the day in a while and wanted to make sure she knew she was appreciated, and loved (just without saying it, he didn’t need Emma’s walls going up when he was working hard to knock them down)
Belle smiles at her friend. “I’d love to help.”
__
And so Killian sets out to find Emma the perfect Valentine’s Day gift. He considers what Belle said about a Granny’s gift card, but that’s not special enough. No Emma deserves something better.
He finds a card straight away, it’s two Swans kissing with a heart above them, feels appropriate and will hopefully make her laugh too. He wants to see that spark in her eyes he gets to see when she’s happy. While they had only been courting, or ‘dating’ as Emma calls it, for a few months he still couldn’t believe sometimes that they’re together. He never thought he’d see her again when they were cursed, and seeing her at her door in New York was one of the most incredible feelings, even if she didn’t know who he was.
She didn’t judge him for his past, she never did, even before they were together. She understands that it wasn’t always a pirate's life, and that he experienced loss and heartbreak the same as she had. For once in his 300 years, he had someone know the pain he had gone through, he could open up about his abandonment without the other person feeling sorry for him. Emma was abandoned too, so she understood how it felt to be alone.
He looked in the Jewellery store on Main Street to see if there was something that screamed Emma. Sure there were beautiful necklaces and bracelets, but he didn’t want to get her just anything, she wasn’t just anybody: she was Emma, his Emma. She deserved the world, and that’s all he wanted to give her.
Until he comes across a locket. The locket in the store is worth more than the doubloons he carries around (which only Granny seemed to accept), but an idea struck in his head. Sure his ship was gone, but he did keep a few things before he traded it to Blackbeard. And one of those things was a small locket his mother had. It opened up to reveal a small drawing of her and his father on one side, and on the other side was Killian and Liam.
“How would I go about filling a locket?” He asks Belle that afternoon. He didn’t have many possessions coming back to Storybrooke, but he could fit a surprising amount in his leather coat, including said locket, so he finds his old jacket at the back of the closet and finds the locket in one of the pockets.
He shows Belle his mother’s locket and she takes a look at the drawings inside and smiles fondly. Like with Emma, Belle doesn’t pry into his past-she knows he was also a man before his days as a villain that had lost people. “At Granny’s tonight, I will get my camera and take photos of you all, I’ll say it’s for an album full of memories. Then I can print the photos out and cut them into small enough shapes for the locket.”
“Thank you Belle. I appreciate it. How are you feeling about this day? I know it can’t be easy considering the Dark One and all.”
“I actually won’t be alone on Valentine’s Day.” She says shyly, Killian tries to think who could have caught her eye in Storybrooke. “Will, uh Will Scarlet has asked me out, and I accepted.”
Killian smiles, Will was an annoying bastard but he was a good guy and would treat his friend right-far better than the Dark One ever did. “I’m happy for you.”
“Thank you Killian.” She smiles. “And Emma is going to love the locket.”
__
That evening the extended Charming family meet for dinner at Granny’s as they do every Friday. Henry is complaining about homework, Regina is dealing with mayor matters, and Killian and Emma are just happy. They share some rum while Emma talks about her day, how she was called to The Rabbit Hole to break up a fight between Leroy and a bartender who wouldn’t serve him anymore alcohol. Killian tells her that he and Belle are making progress on freeing the fairies-Belle was still working on a translation.
They hadn’t talked about Valentine’s Day since his original question, he wanted to surprise her, which is why he acted none the wiser when Belle walked into the diner with her camera.
“Everyone, get together. I want to make a scrapbook!” She says gesturing for everyone to pose.
She gets Snow and Charming to pose for a picture. Then Emma and Killian, then Emma Killian and Henry and a whole bunch of other combinations until she decides she’s happy.
“Do you have any idea what that’s about?” Emma asks Killian once she leaves.
“Not a clue luv.” He lies putting his arm around her, pressing a kiss to her head, hoping she doesn’t become suspicious. Weirder things have happened in this town.
__
The day before Valentine’s Day, Belle shows him the finished locket. On one side, a picture of Henry and his grandparents and the other side was a picture of himself and Emma. He hoped she would look at it and be reminded that she had so many people who loved and cared about her. They had peace for now, but who knows how long it will last before the next monster or villain comes to town.
Emma stays with Killian on the night before Valentines. Something about not wanting to walk in on her parents. So it gives him the perfect opportunity to give Emma her gift in the morning.
“Ugh What time is it?” Emma stirs in her half awake sleep. Killian had been awake for almost an hour, excited for the day, and to give Emma her gift.
“It’s almost 7 luv.” He kisses her head as she stirs, clearly wanting more sleep. “And Happy Valentine’s Day.”
Her eyes almost immediately open at the sound of those four words and groans. “What have you been told? It’s really not that big of a deal this day.”
She sits up in bed, worried to see what big romantic gesture Killian had planned.
“But Swan, I wanted to know if you would be my Valentine?” He asks with his cute pouty smile that makes Emma weak. He fixes his Hook on and then grabs a card and a rose from the drawer.
Emma groans, this is exactly what she was afraid of if she mentioned Valentine’s Day. She wasn’t good at the whole displaying emotions and expressing love, and there was also the fact she had never experienced Valentine’s Day with a boyfriend before. Being on the run with Neal, they didn’t exactly do romantic dates, especially not Valentines Day ones.
She can’t help but smile at her pirate boyfriend, taking the rose as she gets out of bed to kiss him. “Thank you. You really didn’t need to do this though.”
She opens the card and can’t help but grin at the two Swans. It makes Killians day already, just seeing her smile first thing in the morning, and the way he was able to make her smile. “That’s adorable.”
“I may have one other thing too.” He says, pulling out a white box wrapped in red ribbon from behind him.
“Killian!” She groans, he had already done too much.
“Open it.” He says handing it to her with a grin as wide as ever.
She takes the small box and unwraps the ribbon that he so clearly didn’t wrap-A hook for a hand doesn’t seem like it would wrap a bow as neatly as this one, she wonders who he got to help in his master plan. The lid to the box opens and she finds a silver locket wrapped among white tissue paper. It’s a little rusty but cleaned as best as it could be-clearly it’s not new or bought from a store here.
‘ A. Jones ’ is engraved on the back.
“Alice Jones. My mother. This was her locket.” Killian explains.
Emma opens up the locket to see the photos Belle took the other night. Well that explains what that was about, and who had helped him plan all this.
Inside the locket, her parents and Henry on one side, and her and Killian on the other. They all look happy, and in all honesty this was the first picture she had seen of herself where she looked especially happy.
“Killian. It’s beautiful, but I can’t accept this. This was your mother’s, the only thing you probably have of hers.” She thought he had spent all his doubloons that people of Storybrooke still seem to accept-but this was worse, it was something that belonged to the woman who knew him before he was a pirate.
He had never mentioned his mother, this was the first time she had heard her name. She must have been pretty important, and another death that broke Killian.
“Nonsense love. I couldn’t think of a better person my mother would want her locket to go to.” He takes it from her hands and opens the clasp, gesturing for Emma to hold her hair back as he clips it round her neck.
Emma admires the pictures, the people she loved most were in it. It was a beautiful gift. It was the first time anybody had given her something so sentimental.
“I officially win the award for the worst girlfriend ever. I didn’t want to make a huge deal out of it, and didn’t want you to feel pressured.” She tells him.
“I get it Swan. You didn’t have many people in your life before you came to Storybrooke. I don’t know much about this holiday, but Belle told me it’s about spending it with the people you care about, make them know you appreciate them.” He’s careful not to say the L word, it may be the day of love-but that doesn’t give him an excuse to say it before Emma’s ready herself.
It was though Killian was looking into her soul or something. He got her, really got her. One of the only people who understood her. “You didn’t need to get me anything really. You traded your ship to come find me-your home. You literally win boyfriend of the century with that one.”
“I didn’t do it to win points Emma. I traded the Jolly because I knew you were more important. And you don’t need to get me a present in return, you being with me is the best gift I could ask for. I never thought I would be happy after Milah was killed, but these last few months with you have been the best few months of my very long life.” He pulls her closer to him with his Hook and kisses her softly. She wraps her arms around him and enjoys the kiss.
She was falling. Hard. It would be easy to say those three little words to Killian right now. She was sure she felt it for Killian. But she had never felt like this before, even with Neal. She had told Neal ‘I love you’ countless times, but now she wonders did she truly love him? Because the feeling she gets when she’s with Killian is incredible, she never felt this way with Neal. She loves seeing the way his face lights up when she talks to him, the way his blue eyes shine when he speaks about the Sea. She loves how much he cares about Henry, and how often he takes him out sailing-he didn’t have to do any of it, but he did.
He was such an ass when they first met. It feels like a lifetime ago when she tied Captain Hook to a tree and climbed a beanstalk with him. But he changed, she saw the way he changed over time. And slowly she realised that maybe he wasn’t a bad guy, they weren’t so different. Both abandoned, both heartbroken and both mending their broken hearts together, with each other.
“How about you come over to the Apartment tonight? My parents are out and Henry is babysitting Neal at Reginas. I’m not that great a cook but I can attempt grilled cheese.” She says smiling at Killian.
“Sounds wonderful love.”
Killian was happy.
So damn happy.
After Liam and Milah were gone, all that mattered was killing Rumnplestilskin, until he met a stubborn blonde who changed his life forever. He slowly started to see that being a villain wasn’t all it used to be, and that he could be the man he once was.
When Henry brought Emma to Storybrooke and told her she was the saviour who needed to break a curse, she never expected it would be true or lead her to her happy ending. A happy ending she also didn’t realise would include Captain Hook. Fate was a funny thing. But she was finally happy, and for once was excited for her future.

Top 5 animated movies:
1. Whisper of the Heart - Such a cute and whimsical slice-of-life coming of age story, and so inspiring for creative types! I love how Shizuku sees her fantasies come to life in the world around her, and how she just follows her whims to wander the city and treats each day like an adventure. I see a lot of myself in her. The grandpa and his shop are so cool! I want to find a place like that in my city! I love how she and Seiji inspire and encourage each other to improve themselves. Even though they’re so young and I usually hate that kind of thing, I think it’s a very realistic portrayal of what true love and a healthy relationship should be. The way her writing is treated as a creative process and something she can polish with hard work is just such a wonderful message and so inspiring to me.
2. Spirited Away - I love the Japanese culture and mythology, and the serene, still tone of the film. Truly beautiful. The way it doesn’t paint the spirits and gods in a bad light is good and correct: they were the careless humans who went into their world and took what they shouldn’t have. But it still focuses on the supernatural and eerie elements, often without even explaining anything, which I love. And the bathhouse feels like a real functioning place with workplace culture and all. And of course it’s great that Chihiro steps up and learns to be strong. I just love it.
3. Howl’s Moving Castle - I love all the characters so much, and all the magic and whimsy. The fantasy European setting is so charming, and they did a good job depicting Western magic. Ghibli movies really have such mundane magic, and they make me feel like my life is magic too. Sophie is so good and strong and I love seeing her come into her own. And Howl is hot. lmao
4. My Neighbor Totoro - I had the original Fox dub of this on a bootleg VHS my grandma made us when I was literally like an infant. My parents threw it away when I was still young- like no older than 5- because it “has Eastern religion in it” 🙄 Too bad for them the damage was already done lmfao. It was definitely one of the biggest influences of my formative years, I loved it so much and I’m so grateful to it. That mundane magic I talked about before, and just introducing me to a totally different worldview from my sheltered white American Christian bubble. I was fascinated by every single aspect from the traditional Japanese-style home to the bentos to the shrines... I really admired Satsuki and how grown up she was, taking care of her little sister like she did, making the lunches, all that. It’s really such a charming movie with great music and such a realistic depiction of childhood. Plus who doesn’t love Totoro himself?? And catbus! Iconicccc. I still look for little portholes in bushes and trees to this day lmao
5. Mulan - My little 8-year-old enby ass crying in the living room and repeatedly playing the Reflections scene over and over makes so much more sense now 😂 But really it’s just such a great film with a unique art style, fun characters, and great music. I love how Mulan fights for what she believes is right, and wants to protect her father. And I think it’s great how she also fights to find her own place in the world. I like how they don’t make it a “not like other girls” thing, but just that she personally somehow doesn’t feel comfortable in her own skin with the makeup and all that. Between her living as a man and the clear romantic relationship between “Ping” and Shang, it’s pretty good queer representation for a 2000s Disney movie lol. Also Mulan and Shang can both get it I mean what.
Honorable Mention: Prince of Egypt - That animation tho! So fucking cinematic!! And the music and everything just ugh so good! The characters are really compelling too and you can totally feel the brotherly love and familial issues.
Top 5 live action movies:
1. Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day - This is a movie where you can’t look away for a moment or you’ll miss something important. It really is just one entire heck of a day for the main character like howwww does so much happen. It’s really just written so well honestly that they manage to pack so much into a single movie and a single day. I aspire to that level. The 30s setting is so great with the costumes and set and music ahh I get so much inspiration from it. Every single character (and actor for that matter) is just fantastic. It’s super funny- that situational comedy is my jam. And there are touching moments that give me inspiration for my own life. I relate to Miss Pettigrew with her clear social anxiety, and perhaps neurodivergency? But I love how the events of the film bring out the best in her. And Delysia is just so charming! I want her confidence
2. La La Land - Such a fun and whimsical musical about life for creatives in Los Angeles~ It makes me feel nostalgic and proud to live here. I love all the different homages to classic Hollywood, and the music is so good!! The love story feels realistic and I actually really like that they don’t end up together in the end. They just encourage each other to be better, and if that means being apart, they’re willing to do it. It is another one that gives me inspiration for my life and creative endeavors, especially The Fools Who Dream 😭 Gets me every time.
3. Mamma Mia - This is my shameless feel-good movie. I love just putting it on in the background as I clean or whatever. It’s just so upbeat and fun!! I love Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep especially. And I like that the main character learns what she wants (and doesn’t want) out of life right now. And I love that they depict older characters and women!! having full and rich lives including romance and sex. The message that it’s never too late for love is so great! And also just like please communicate and you will probably save yourself so much heartache lmao.
4. Across the Universe - I have an affinity for the 60s and 70s, and I love how this movie kind of takes you through that era with the various characters. It’s such a fun movie with great costumes, cinematography, and music! I just love all the covers of the Beatles songs!! I honestly like them just as much as I like the originals. This is one of the first things I ever saw with positive/neutral queer representation?? Like Sadie is presented just as she is, without it being like WHAT SHE LIKES WOMEN?????? I”MPOSSIBLE !! Or making it all about sex or whatever. It’s literally just like “I want to hold your hand.” Also the whole bit with Eddie Izzard is just incredible lmfao
5. LOTR - My first fandom~ I love these movies so much ughhh. The music! The costumes! The characters! The world! The high fantasy!! I think PJ was so true to the books, or at least as much as he was able in just 10-ish hours. I love that they just went for it and filmed all three in one go, and made them over 3 hours long, which was basically unheard of at the time for blockbuster films. They did so good fully representing the different races through costume, language, culture, and the music too. I literally used to just lay on my bed for hours at a time in junior high, listening to the soundtracks and being immersed in the world. My friends and I would often play pretend that we were in Middle Earth (so lame for middle schoolers lmaooo). I love every single (not-evil) character and I will fight for them. I will especially fight Denethor I don’t even cARE !
Honorable mention: A Little Princess - Sooo whimsical and lovely, even when the girls are going through hardship! I love Sarah and how she literally does magic and even puts a curse on what’s her face omgg. She’s so charming and a genuinely good person too, even though she could have been a spoiled brat. The big climactic scene is so !! Omg I still get the adrenaline when she’s crossing the board and then hiding from the police even though I’ve seen this countless times since I was a small child. And it’s so wonderful that she’s reunited with her father, and they adopt the other girl. It taught me at a young age that the world isn’t fair and people will be nasty and abusive for no reason, but that you can still believe in magic and “fancy yourself a princess.” And the neighbor guy taught me that strangers will step in to help out of the goodness of their heart.
Top 5 TV shows:
1. ATLA - One of the best series of all time. The worldbuilding, lore, storyline, character development, animation, music, etc, are all incredible. If they had gone with the original intention of making Zutara canon it would have been literally perfect and so subversive and innovative! As it is it is still nearly perfect and they still did an amazing job with Zuko’s redemption arc. I just ignore that very last scene tbh. In my mind, it didn’t happen. The series addresses so many issues like imperialism, sexism, abuse, family, disability, war, etc, in a very realistic way. Uncle Iroh is literally a treasure.
2. Steven Universe - So charming and wonderful!! I just love it so much!! It is so goddamn queer, it makes me so happy. Stevonnie is the nonbinary representation we don’t even deserve!! I love every single character. I love the animation and the music too! The bgm is so bubbly and glitchy and cool, super on point for trends these days. And the original songs are so charming~ It also deals with a ton of important issues like imperialism, interpersonal relationships, oppression, self-identity, abuse, leadership, mental health, boundaries, consent, brain-washing, unlearning unhealthy behavior, etc. I love that every single character, even minor ones, get character development and a chance to be strong and improve themselves. And it shows that even the ones we initially think are super strong and have it all together, actually have their own issues that they struggle with too.
3. Yuuri!!! On Ice - This show!!!! Oh my goddddddd. Literally perfect. I love that it just subverts every single trope???? Especially with the events at the beginning and the big spoiler in episode 10. Simply incredible. I love every single character so much??? Even ones I was expecting to hate, like how Yurio is a little shit at the beginning, and then when Lilia is introduced as this super severe tyrant, but she ends up just being a good, yet strict coach because she really wants Yurio to succeed. It’s honestly just so wholesome! The music is so amazing and the ice skating is really realistic too! It really shows that they had an actual skating choreographer and worked off video of him performing. I love how realistic the whole show is like with lots of social media, youtube, instagram, etc. And it does a queer romance without it being a gimmick. It’s just a sports anime with a side plot of a romance but it just happens to be gay. And Kubo-sensei has stated that homophobia doesn’t exist at all in their world which makes me so happy. It’s honestly so queer and I adore how all three main characters are genderfucks a bit. I also love how realistically Yuuri’s anxiety and depression are portrayed. I relate so much to him, especially because mine exhibit in the exact same ways as his. It’s another one that inspires me to fight to be better and live the life I want to live.
4. OTGW - So charming. A perfect addition to the canon of New England fairy tales. The music is great, the animation is wonderful and nostalgic, the characters are fun and interesting and spooky. I love how liminal it is and you aren’t really sure where they are or what’s going on for the majority of the episodes. Greg is the most realistic depiction of a small child and the brothers’ relationship is the most realistic I think I’ve ever seen in my life lmao. He’s just so random and weird and has such Little Kid Logic I love it so much lmao. The story is perfectly contained in its 10 short episodes, and it gives a very satisfying ending. I still can’t get over how many huge stars were in it too?? Like fucking Tim Curry as Auntie Whispers???? I can not believe.
5. Inuyasha - I’m weeb trash and this show is also trash but I love it so much okay. As a big fan I hold so much against the anime for changing things from the manga, but even so I love it. Overall I think the animation, music, and voice acting is perfect. It’s so cool with all the mythos of youkai and the shikon jewel, plus I love traditional Japanese culture stuff. And isekai type stuff is my jam. If I found a portal to another world or to the past you bet your ass I’d go through it. I totally don’t still look for portals as a 30 year old adult, I don’t know what you’re talking about 😂 Kagome is such a great mc tbh like she’s so smart and strong and talented and kind I just love her so much??? I want to be more like her. And I love all the characters honestly. I have to overlook some questionable 90s anime tropes for certain ones, but I still love them. As much as we rag on the constant upgrades thing, the battles and stuff are pretty thrilling, and overall the series is good fun. And yes Sesshoumaru is my husbando, next question.
Honorable Mention: Doctor Who - I love how this show manages to be like every single genre?? SciFi, historical, comedy, thriller, mystery, slice of life, etc. I love all of the Doctors, and all of their companions. I just love how much the Doctor loves humans, and how much faith they have in humanity. And again it’s that whole isekai, time travel, normal modern human goes on magical adventures thing. I would go with the Doctor in a heartbeat. I still cry over Donna 😭

Plot: AU Your neighbor summoned a demon for a good time, except he somehow overshot things and landed in your apartment. (Despite the lack of a pentagram.) He keeps showing up and oddly, he makes it a point to stop by after he’s done with her.
Rating: PG-13 (Language, implied sex, incubus mythology, controlling partners)
Characters: Incubus!Jungkook x Older Female Reader, Riley OC, plus mention of other members.
Notes: I am not an expert on demonology. This was based off a comical dream I had about someone accidentally ending up in my apartment when in reality they were looking for someone else. (The figure in the dream wasn’t a demon per se but a rookie individual that wasn’t human who appeared in places without using the front door.) Eventually there will be a take on this plot with RM as the incubus – it will be a different universe from this one. *If anyone controls you without your consent, get out as soon as possible.

“I’m guessing you’re Jimin, the one with the “sexy” outfits?” you asked as you stepped closer to the incubus.
The comment made the dark haired male smirk and he ran a hand through his hair. “Oh so Kookie’s talked about me? You find my clothes sexy?”
“I’m only quoting what he said about your attire,” you deadpanned. Remembering that the incubus was probably here about Jungkook, you approached the dark haired male and asked about the younger incubus. “Do you know if Kook’s okay?”
Jimin sighed as he uncrossed his leg, replying that the younger incubus had not visited Riley this evening, but he seemed to be asking everyone for space. He shook his head and pursed his lips.
“I should have gone instead of him,” he said. “He wasn’t happy about Yoongi saying I was going instead of him. Never thought he’d disobey his hyung.” He tilted his head and asked if you had any alcohol to spare.
“Bottle of red wine,” you replied with a shrug. “Although a “please” gets you further in life.”
He snickered and turned in his seat to face the counter, resting one arm on the surface. “You know what I am, right?”
“Yeah and I’m pretty sure I’m a lot older than you, Pouty Boy,” you shot back.
The incubus’s eyes widened at your response and he raised a brow. He began to open his mouth to protest, but you shut him down by sharing your age. A slight flush colored his cheeks and he bowed his head, mumbling an apology.
“I guess you’re everyone’s noona, maybe even Hoseok’s,” he murmured. “I’m sorry, may I please have some red wine?”
“I know you’re not responsible for your neighbor, but do you have a rough estimate of how many times Kookie’s slept with her?” Jimin asked, swirling his glass around.
“It’s almost been a month,” you recalled. “But I’m guessing she asks for more than one round. How many I don’t know.”
Jimin hesitated, glass inches from his full lips. He met your eyes and shook his head. “Not good, it sounds like he’s in deep.”
“How bad are we talking? I know he said you guys can’t have sex 24/7 with someone, or else they might die or something.”
He took a tiny sip from his glass and swallowed. His eyes drifted back to the contents as he spoke, “Yes, it’s detrimental to a human’s health if we repeatedly visit and feed from them several times in a row. Some may exhibit aggressive or dangerous behaviors as a side effect. Has she been acting rude or violent in any way?”
“Brushed past me without saying anything to me this morning,” you recalled. “She looked a little...I don’t know? Deranged? I mean, she looked like she was pissed off or something, but she walked by me so fast that I kind of missed it.”
Jimin nodded grimly before taking a longer sip from his glass. He put it down on the counter and sighed.
You straightened up as you remembered Jungkook’s words about Riley wanting him to change everything about himself. Sure it seemed like her normal, snowflake manner of treating everyone around her, but you had to wonder...
“I know...Kook said she insulted his hair and his casual clothes recently,” you added. “She wasn’t complaining about his looks when he came around the last few weeks, but today, I saw the hair color was different and –”
“I think that was a side effect,” Jimin interrupted you. “Also incubi can lose interest in someone’s taste after a while if they start showing opposite behaviors. Some might hide it, but others aren’t as good at it.”
“She’s gotta be hard to stomach anyways,” you offered. “You boys don’t know her like I do. I believe her parents pay her rent and she’s barely passing her university classes. Also think her last boyfriend dumped her and she didn’t like that because she normally does the dumping. I actually think she doesn’t know what “please” and “thank you” mean.”
The incubus raised a brow as he picked up the glass again. “Charming.”
You sighed as you leaned on the counter, hands in front of you. “I told him to stop seeing her if she treats him like trash. Doesn’t matter what species he is – if someone disrespects you or makes you feel bad, you leave them and don’t go back.”
He raised his glass in your direction with a nod, murmuring that he was in agreement. The rest of his wine glass was polished off in a long sip and he placed it back on the counter, thanking you.
“See, I think Jungkook is being a bit naive,” Jimin mused. “He got so soft when he heard that Hoseok bonded with some human girl he met in a nightclub. Evelyn? Ellie? Ah whatever, but long story short, Hoseok pretended to be her boyfriend when some slimy human tried to corner her. Turns out they had more in common than they thought and the rest is history.”
You nodded as you listened, folding your hands together. “I’m guessing they see each other regularly? Sounds like Kook would want to have that too.”
Jimin groaned as he messed up his hair and rolled his eyes. “Don’t even get me started on those two! I’m happy for them, but seriously they are...ugh, well, they’re perfect for one another. I’ll spare you the kinky details of their relationship.”
“Thanks,” you said. “But Riley’s not going to give him that fairy tale connection.”
“I have a bad vibe about her intentions as well,” the incubus replied. “Which I intend to fix. Seeing as she is a threat to us and humans, I’m going to go when she attempts a summoning next time.”
You tilted your head at his reply. “How are you going to get Jungkook to stay away? You just got through saying he wasn’t above disobeying you or this Yoongi guy if he was desperate to prove himself.”
Jimin eyed the bottle in your hands and you sighed as you uncorked it and poured more out. He thanked you before taking a small sip from the glass.
“You care about him,” he offered. “I think I’ll tell him you need to see him for a bit and you keep him busy. What you do to keep him here is up to you.”
You re-corked the wine bottle and shot Jimin a look. “I have a feeling there’s a catch with you – Kook is still new to all this, which is probably why he never asked me for anything. You however...”
Jimin put his glass down and pretended to look offended. “Noona! I’m hurt! Surely you don’t think that I’m doing this for any other reason than Kookie’s safety, right?”
You narrowed your eyes at him and Jimin sighed, circling his index finger around the lip of the glass.
“Maybe...you could owe me one later?” he offered. “I’m nothing like Kookie, but I can promise a good –”
“No deal,” you cut him off. “If I help, it’s because I want Jungkook to find a real connection and not a snowflake who has a warped sense of reality. Besides, studies show that guys who claim they’re good in bed are usually underperformers.”
Jimin stared at you flabbergasted and you tried to hold back a snicker as you returned the bottle to the fridge. You could attest to your previous statement, based on personal and things you heard from friends over the years.
You turned to face the incubus and crossed your arms over your chest. “You should be doing this because you care about Kookie, more than just another incubus you know. I know he talks a lot about you and other elders, all positive things, save for the fact that you guys sort of baby him.”
The incubus closed his mouth and huffed, grumbling that you were right. He swirled the wine around in his glass before meeting your eyes.
“Fine, I won’t ask for anything this time. Just promise me you’ll keep him busy while I handle the brat.”

Riley and Lydia had been friends since they could talk. Their parents were friends in school and we're still friends to this day. That meant that Lydia and Riley were too. However, the one thing that always tears them apart is... Jackson. Jackson Whittemore. Captain of the Lacrosse team, the most popular guy in school and the most handsome. Every girl wanted to be his girl. But, only Riley was his girl. Which made Lydia very jealous... at first. It was only when she began hearing how Jackson really treated Riley that Lydia began to see through his perfect charm.
Lydia was going to snap at Riley one day, she deserved better than Jackson Whittemore. But, there was no telling Riley what to do. Just like there was no telling Lydia what to do.
"Ugh," Began Riley, Lydia looked at her she knew that noise usually meant something to do with Jackson. "You know what Jackson said to me this morning?" It wasn't much of a question for Lydia to answer. Riley continued, "He said that my underwear wasn't right, as if someone else had brought it for me!" Riley tutted.
"He accused you of cheating you mean?" Lydia corrected.
"Well, yeah but we'll make up by the end of the day... you'll see," Riley bit her lip and watched Jackson walk past, "he's wearing the top I got him last week, see."
"Oh yeah, sure," Lydia mumbled although she wasn't paying attention.
Riley and Jackson only had one lesson together that day, which was before lunch. They had been told not to sit next to each other a long time ago. Therefore, Jackson was sat with Lydia and Riley was sat with Scott. At this point, Jackson had a major problem with Scott, mainly because he was slightly better at Lacrosse than Jackson. "Are you coming to the game tonight?" Scott asked.
"Erm, yeah" Riley replied, she seemed to change her personality around Scott. She didn't have to act so girly or stupid like she had to in front of Jackson.  "Why?" she asked, with a frown as she looked at Scott.
"Oh well, he was saying in the locker room that you had been cheating..." Scott trailed off and looked back at his work.
Riley's head shot around at Jackson. He was of course already watching her closely. She looked back at Scott, "I have not cheated. I would never do that to him."
"Oh erm. I know" Scott said awkwardly. If Riley wasn't so angry she would have felt bad for the way she spoke to Scott.
After the lesson, Riley waited outside the classroom for Jackson. And, typical Jackson, he was surrounded by his mates. Riley pushed through them and dragged Jackson out the fire door. "Why are you telling everyone that I cheated, Jackson?" Riley asked.
"Becuase you did, your underwear-"
"You brought me it, for my birthday last year!" Riley exclaimed.
"I think I would have remembered," Jackson laughed and smirked.
"Jackson, I didn't cheat on you. If there was a cheater in this relationship...it wouldn't be me."
Jackson snapped, "I'll find out who it is you know. So, you might as well tell me who it is, you little slut." Jackson was pointing a finger in her face. Riley was used to this by now, Jackson was very insecure about himself. Riley didn't react. Jackson huffed and walked back through the fire door which Riley had propped open.
As Riley was about to follow him through the door, Jackson let it close behind him. Riley hit the door, which caused Jackson to turn around and smirk.
It took about 15 minutes to walk back to the front of the school where the door was open. Lydia was waiting in the hallway for her. "Where have you been?" she asked and followed Riley to the cafeteria. She knew Riley would say with Jackson but she assumed they were making up. Lydia was wrong.
"Are you still going to the game tonight?" Lydia asked Riley as they sat down for lunch.
"Of course!" Riley was slightly offended, "why wouldn't I? It's the qualifier" Riley said as if Lydia should have known that already.
"Well he did call you some horrible names back there, Riley. I know I wouldn't go, no matter how important the game is."
This certainly made Riley think. She knew that Lydia didn't particularly like Jackson but Lydia was right.
That night Riley didn't go to the game. It was the first time she had ever missed a game. Jackson had constantly looked for her in the crowd but she wasn't with Lydia. Jackson tried to talk to Lydia to see where Riley was. But, Lydia left before he could find her. This time Lydia wasn't going to help Jackson sort out his mess. He would have to do it himself.
There was a light knock on Riley's bedroom door, "Dad, please, I said I was fine."
Riley's door opened and Jackson's head poked around the door, "It's not your dad..."
"Jackson, I don't want to talk to you," Riley said bluntly and looked away from him.
"Come on, Baby, I'm sorry. I told the guys that it wasn't true..." Jackson stepped into the room and held out a bag, "I brought you something," he grinned.
Riley took the bag off him reluctantly, "really, Jackson?" Riley held up the underwear in the bag. "Are you trying to rub it in or something?" she asked. Jackson stood there clueless, he really was confused. "I don't want them, Jackson!" She shouted and threw them at him.
Jackson caught them and held them in his hands. "I'd thought you would like them, you've been looking at them for ages..."
"Honestly, Jackson!" Riley huffed and got off her bed. "You really thought that buying me some underwear after we had a fight about my underwear that I would want this?" Riley asked, pointing at the underwear still held by Jackson.
"Well- I-" Jackson stuttered and looked at her lost.
"Don't give me that look, Jackson. You know your wrong." Riley sat back down on her bed and turned away from Jackson. She was upset and nearly crying. Times like this made Riley question her choices in men.
Jackson put the underwear at the end of the bed and sat down slowly next to her. He began stroking her arm, "Baby? I'm sorry. I realise that was a stupid idea. I'll make it up to you, baby." Jackson kissed her neck over and over.
Riley finally shrugged him off, "your perfect charm won't work on me anymore, Jackon, you either treat me with respect or I'm gone," Riley said.
Jackon looked into her eyes. She was serious, all this time Jackson never realised that this could happen. Riley saw that Jackson looked scared. "I don't want to lose you."
Thanks for reading, sorry it's been a while.
