This one is me finally designing some of the older OCs! Simple cuz a day has been a mess, and it is how I planned to go with this from the start.

also worth flagging, I crunched the numbers and if you take the number of claimed members/supporters of JVP (750k, they don't mention the number of members) and the number of Jews who 'strongly support' BDS (since 'somewhat' could mean like 'Israel's doing bad stuff and should stop but fuck these BDS-ers are intolerably antisemitic'). Also worth flagging, back then only 56 percent of Jews heard about it but I'm gonna pretend like it's 100 percent. That works out to 150k people, given that there are 7.5 million American Jews. (If we take into account the 56 percent, it's 84k.) Even if we double those numbers, here are the potential estimates for how Jewish JVP is: 11.2 percent (most conservative), 20 percent (150k) 22.4 percent (double 84k), 40 percent (most liberal).

Note that none of those cross 50 percent.

Further note that JVP allows non-Jews to join.

Especially for an org marketing itself as Jewish, this is unusual.

The URJ (limits membership to "a Jewish member of a constituent congregation of the URJ, the Jewish spouse or child of such a member, or a clergy of such a congregation"), one of the most liberal Jewish organizations, doesn't let non-Jews join. I'm going to guess if the URJ doesn't let goyim join, neither do the OU.

On a more local level, you need to be Jewish (or have someone in your household be; they operate on a household level) to get grants from the Jewish Assistance Fund.

Further, the URJ, WZO, and Jewish assistance Fund don't make their whole shtick "look at how Jew-y we are, as a Jew we think [things the vast majority of Jews disagree with]."

So: JVP isn't that Jewish, they cannot be that Jewish, and they are misrepresenting themselves; furthermore, their letting non-Jews join is unusual among multiple major Jewish organizations (and one local one), all of whom have purposes beyond saying "as a Jew, blah blah blah".

So: JVP are liars.
