Do you like cats? Do you like larger earrings? If you said yes to both of these questions then you'll understand why I'm smiling in the last photo! These sterling silver earrings are 2 1/4 inches long and 1 1/4 inches wide and there are cats running under a full moon (hammered discs). These aren't feather-light but I wouldn't call them heavy. They don't pull on my piercing at all. The cats are handsawn and soldered to semicircles that I raised with my dapping tools, they're not flat. There's a lot of texture on the semicircles and discs from my hammering and the patina gives the design some great areas of contrast. The earring hooks are sterling silver and wirewrapped closed. The loops of the wire arches and the jump rings connecting the arches to the cats are all soldered closed. Anyways, one of this weekends messages sent me a photo of these beauties I made last spring and I just couldn’t help but share them again!! • These incredibly special one of a kind hoops were entirely hand fabricated out of sterling silver. I hand cut and textured two pieces of fern, designed after the Dixie Fern, to showcase a central setting set with a piece of Luna Moth Wing set under glass, and hugged by two strands of roped wire. The "eye" of the luna moth showcased on each hoop.🌙 Luna moths have been said to represent rebirth, renewal of body and spirit, regeneration, and may even symbolize the soul itself. They speak of our connection to the Feminine, our inner spirit, and our trust in ourselves. I consider these earrings a totem for growth and transformation, and hope the wearer will feel like it showcases their strength. 🌙 These were made and sold Spring 2019 - but, all things are possible whenever I open my customs list again - keep your eye out! >>> The Spell of the Swamp Ring <<< More blasts from the past as I work on customs. Today's jewelry spotlight is on a ring happens to be my own, that I made a little over two years ago. My first release as a silversmith was a five piece collection I called "The Southwestern Swamp Collection", which I would later expand upon for my first collection as Silver Stallion Handmade. The ring from that initial collection was my "The Spell of the Swamp Ring". I've made a few custom versions of this ring since the first (you may recall the most recent one I made for @feralina_ just a few photos back - NO LONGER TIME APPLICABLE 😂), and have always wanted to make one for myself but that always gets put on hold. Well, I just so happened to try using a thicker gauge of Sterling when making that last ring and had the metal crack when trying to form it to Annabel's size. Needless to say I was really upset at the time (end of the holiday rush).... but then, I decided as all my personal pieces tend to, that I would finally make my own version of the ring from the scrap. So now I proudly wear my cracked version of the "Spell of the Swamp Ring", because I truly love watching and learning from my mistakes, and then giving the broken remains another chance... much like how my mantra has always been working with animal remains.
