Been pretty busy with the last few stages of my PhD program lately so opportunities to spend time at the workshop have been rare. I spent a few hours tuning this handpan this weekend and it’s coming together nicely. I really enjoy tuning steel. It’s literally a process of creating harmonies where none existed before. There’s something very satisfying about that. Each oval shape vibrates in three frequencies when activated and tuning requires those three frequencies to be in harmony. Prototype #10 is almost done. A little more fine tuning and some finishing work and it’ll be done. I am beyond thrilled with this one. 2 years ago I was hunting for an air compressor and trying to decide if I should even start down this rabbit hole or not. And now I finally did it... I made one of a quality that I’m happy with!
