I apologize, I’d been meaning to finish this in time for mermay, but alas.

I've been waiting to get to this update for so long - it was probably the first scene I conceptualized (or, more accurately, woke up with the image still burned into my brain). As you've probably noticed, I've been heavily inspired by movies such as The Shape of Water and The Little Mermaid. This comic is a love letter to these movies and to the art and fics that have inspired me.

I've always thought about Hank's hand placement in their hug. The back of the neck is an incredibly intimate place to touch someone. Rarely if ever when my family members hug me do they touch me there. It's usually just a regular one arm hug.

Whenever I've touched someone on the back of their neck like that it's almost always an intimate partner. But these bitches use both their arms with Hank's hand on Connor's neck and his head on Hank's shoulder.

I often headcanon that it is Connor who confesses his love to Hank first, but by this moment Hank is also immensely in love with Connor and is preparing to confess his feelings to him too, but Connor is ahead of him and imagine how relieved Hank feels at this moment: he is also loved, he was probably preparing himself to be rejected, but he heard the confession that he dreamed of. Hank is a strong man, but I think at that moment his legs would probably have weakened and he had to hug Connor to not sink to the floor. Everything turned out to be easier than he imagined. Connor loves him, and Hank doesn't need anything else because from now on they will be happy together forever.

For Connor it was easier, it was easier for him to guess that Hank had feelings for him, because he is an android detective and he had no reason to think Hank wouldn't love him back. However, preconstructing the situation and hearing "I love you too" is completely different. Especially to see Hank's happy eyes, seeing him blushing, and his barely noticeable, but sunny smile, seeing which Connor immediately realized that for this smile alone he was ready to do anything.
