You spent every other Friday in the city at Bang Chan’s apartment to tutor one of his pack members and roommates, Changbin. He was trying to get his GED since he dropped out of high school, and you didn’t mind helping the younger wolf out. The only problem you had with tutoring him was that you had to go so far away to meet with him. Plus, the part of the city Chan lived in was pretty sketchy to say the least.

Joshua was usually the one to drive you since he didn’t mind the long ride. It took about an hour and a half to get to them, but Josh liked singing along to the radio and getting to be away from the pack for a little while. Sometimes, he’d bring Jaehee with him just because he enjoyed having his mate by his side. This time, however, he brought your mate since Hansol finished his class early.

You, Joshua, Hansol, Chan, Changbin, and Minho sat in Chan’s tiny living-room-slash-kitchen, you sitting on the floor by the coffee table with Changbin and tried to work through what he was having problems with. The rest of the wolves caught up with each other, especially since Hansol hadn’t seen any of them for a while. You were able to easily block them out, up until you felt someone tap on your shoulder.

“We’re going to go grab some takeout,” Hansol told you. “We’ll be back in like, forty minutes, okay?”

“Forty?” you repeated. “How far away is it?!”

Chan laughed awkwardly, scratching the back of his head. “The restaurants in this part of the city kinda suck, so it’s a lot better to just make the trip.”

“You’ll be okay with Minho and Changbin, right?” your mate asked.

About thirty seconds of silence went by – you were scanning the textbook to see where you had left off – when Changbin smirked and stood up, “They’re gone.”

“Let’s go!” Minho grinned, pushing himself up from the floor.

“Huh?” you asked, looking between the two boys.

“Changbin and I have to meet with someone,” Minho explained as he grabbed his jacket from the coat hanger by the door. “We need something that we couldn’t get from our usual place, so we’re doing a trade.”

You stood up, placing your hands on your hips, “So let me get this straight: you two are going to leave me, a defenseless human girl, alone in a rundown apartment in the shittiest part of the city?”

The two boys exchanged looks before Changbin shrugged.

Minho sighed and looked back at you, “It’s probably safer if you come with us. At least we know we can protect you.”

You couldn’t help but be wary of that plan, too. Even though the two wolves were around your age, you still didn’t completely trust them with your life. It was probably because you didn’t know them as well as you knew Hansol’s pack, but what choice did you have? You had zero authority over them. 

“Fine,” you groaned, going over to the door to put on your shoes and jacket. “We better be back before they get here.”

“Don’t worry, we will be!” Changbin assured you with a bright grin before he ushered you through the open door behind Minho.

Changbin led the way while Minho walked beside you, keeping one hand at the center of your back as the three of you walked further and further into the sketchy part of the city. You weren’t surprised they were handling shady business considering you were aware they stole most of the things they needed regarding their werewolf situations. Did you want to be apart of it, though? No, not really.

You were told you would just be tutoring Changbin, yet here you were in a creepy alleyway behind a parking lot that looked like it was a place for the homeless to sleep rather than for cars to park. You pulled your jacket tighter around your body, trying to just keep to yourself.

Changbin stopped, and you almost walked into him since you were staring at the pavement instead of ahead of you. You looked up and saw there was a man with chestnut brown hair dressed in a black leather jacket, black jeans that were ripped in one knee, and a white t-shirt. He stared emotionlessly at Changbin.

“Something seems…” Minho trailed off quietly, his voice barely a whisper as he studied the man.

You reacted without thinking, shoving Minho to the ground while Changbin spun around, wrapped his arms around you, and fell to the pavement. The shot rang out, but you knew the man shot too late since Changbin was suddenly off of you, and you heard the familiar sound of someone shifting.

However, when Minho rushed over to collect you off the ground, you saw it wasn’t Changbin or Minho who had shifted. A familiar, sandy russet wolf was standing right in front of you and the two boys, a growl ripping through his chest. He was facing the man with the gun, which had you worried since now there was just a bigger target to shoot at. Then again, you knew werewolves couldn’t control their anger when their mates were in danger.

But you quickly caught onto the plan, because you saw Chan and Joshua sneaking up behind the armed man. Before he could shoot again, Chan tackled him while Joshua plucked the gun from his grip. 

“Get _____ back home,” Chan barked at his pack, his eyes shifting to an angry red as he glared at them, “now.”

“Y-yeah, got it,” Minho nodded.

“And when you get back, we’re gonna have a talk,” he threatened, beyond angry that his pack got you into this kind of situation.

“Us too,” Joshua added, looking over at you.

Then it was Hansol’s turn to whip around, his wolf form looking much more menacing than his normal human self. You gulped and took a step back as he continued to growl lowly, even though he was looking at you. Clearly, he wasn’t happy with you for willingly going with the two boys, either.
