The Game of Life Roulette Controller for PlayStation (2003) 🎮🔄🔧
The Takara Roulette Controller is a PlayStation peripheral, released in Japan in 2003. Shaped like a roulette wheel, it was bundled with the game 'Game of Life The Money Battle'. It features a spin-able central wheel for random number generation and multiple buttons for betting on specific numbers or ranges.
And! We have a guide on how to use it with USB!

PlayStation Spinner Controller - Make a rapid button clicker with the Roulette controller and CircuitPython
Harness the power of a very specific and weird PlayStation controller! The Takara Game of Life controller is just like a normal PlayStation (PSX) controller, with a twist -- literally -- it has a colorful spinner on it that you can twirl like a roulette wheel to spam the circle button!
While this was originally designed for use with a specific Game of Life game on PSX, you can bring it into the modern era an turn it into a USB controller that can be used for emulation, game control, and perhaps most importantly -- as a very fast mouse clicker!
Using a QT Py RP2040 running CircuitPython and the ps2controller library by Tod Kurt, this novelty controller can be used on your computer or mobile device, sending USB HID keyboard and mouse commands, or, alternatively as a USB MIDI controller.

After a full machine breakdown yesterday it was back to #hardwaremode today. Both printers failed for completely different reasons, and neither had the right combination of updated software or functioning hardware. But after several solder joints, a software bump, a bit of motherboard confusion and about 3 dozen zip ties, the operation was a success: my #3dprinter is back online with three times the capability! #absfilament, #plafilament, #petgfilament and even #flexiblefilament for an all new twist. The older one needs a part ordered, but I'll be making some elaborate modifications once the budget allows. For now, it'll function solely as a backup. Seems the habit of dismantling @nana_rosa903 's appliances never really died-- I just figured out how to fix what was worth keeping😉 #mondaymood

PCM5122 is an I2S DAC that does it all 🎶🔧
Having wrapped up our PCM5100 and PCM5102 breakout boards
and added them to the Adafruit shop, it's time to explore more DACs we could support. This is the PCM5122
https://www.digikey.com/short/v9pnq1b2
the "big sister" to the PCM5102. Like its sibling, it supports MCLK-less I2S input, making it a great choice for any microcontroller or Raspberry Pi.
It also features a stand-alone "hardware mode," where mute and format can be set via GPIO pins—no I2C configuration required! However, unlike the PCM5102, it also supports I2C/SPI if needed, with built-in filters, numerous configuration flags, and a pin-settable gain option in hardware mode for attenuation.

PCB of the day! Requiem for a 5.1K CC resistor 🔌💡🔧
We have a few gadgets around the house that, despite having a USB type C connector, do not abide by the USB C power delivery specification! They leave off or mis-connect the two 5.1K resistors required to tell a USB PD wall adapter that they want 5V 1A power, a common issue because the devices work fine with a USB A to C cable, and only Macbooks seem picky about this stuff: cheap power supplies blast 5V and call it a day. This doo-hickey is a solution. It has two USB sockets nestled back-to-back, and instead of connecting the CC lines through, each half has its own dedicated resistor set. It makes for an excellent symmetrical design. Pair it with a short USB C-C cable to create an inline extender. We considered having one side be a plug, but the SMT-able plug connectors seemed like they needed to be more mechanically stable.
