New Squirrelwhisker family tree!!

Ok so now what I’ve changed is that Sandstorm + Featherkit and Cricketkit are now the kits of Runningbreeze (Runningwind) and a Rouge/Bloodclan cat Tess (she’s a character in Ravenpaw’s Path), they were both young at the time, it was a very non serious relationship and ended when she got pregnant. Tess asked Runningbreeze to take them back to his clan as Tess didn’t have the means to take care of them, nor did she want kits, and Runningbreeze had a community of cats to raise them, he agreed and before they were born he asked Dapplecloud (Dappletail) to take them.

More Character backstory below

Dapplecloud had wanted kits for a very long time, she was mates with Stormtail for a time when she was a younger warrior but she couldn’t have kits, which was definitely hard on her. At some point she’d broken up with Stormtail realising their relationship was not healthy and tried to focus on spending more time on her family, she absolutely loved her niece and nephew, she and her brother were very close with Mouseburr and Runningbreeze, they were Auntie Dapplecloud and Uncle Thrushpelt and great warriors the two of them looked up to.

So when Runningbreeze came to her asking for her help, Dapplecloud agreed, no warrior would turn down kits in need, especially family. Sometime in the future a part of Dapplecloud would regret this decision.

In the first two months every thing was fine, the kits were little angels, Rodinwing’s litter was taking a liking to the three new little kits and Willowpelt was settling into the nursery. Rosetail, the caretaker of the nursery was going to have her paws full.

But as the months of winter went on, the prey became increasingly more scarce then others, so many cats died that winter. Her brother, Leopardfoot, two of Robinwing’s kits along with her mate and herself… and so many more….

Cricketkit and then Featherkit included… Cricketkit early on and Featherkit so close to being apprenticed, he was born deaf but that never stopped him, he and his family had developed their own language built on clan cats own limited sign language used in patrols and other clan activities. Featherkit was a determined and kind kit. But the harsh winter does not care about the lives of mortals.

The loss affected her deeply… But Sandkit and the rest of the clan continued on.

One of the things that brings Sandstorm and Fireheart together is Cloudkit, in my rewrite Cloudtail and Snowkit are the same character. When Fireheart brings Cloudkit and asks Bluestar to let him stay in the clan, amongst the many voices saying not to let another “weak” kittypet in, Sandstorm surprises Fireheart by advocating for Cloudkit (the little white kit reminds her of her brother) and when Cloudkit is discovered to be hard of hearing Sandstorm and Dapplecloud help Fireheart and Brindleface with different signs and signals.

Cloudtail goes on to help Brightheart when she becomes hard of hearing after the dog attack and their daughter Whitewing, while not hard of hearing is a fantastic sign language teacher and goes on to teach many young cats in Thunderclan and even some cats in other clans the more developed sign language.

since she's named after a hare, we decided to give her long ears, legs, and a shorter tail. we also gave her some freckles, cause they just seemed to fit her

scar we gave her is from when she was on a patrol to chase and hurt kittypets. it's not said that she's hurt from that as far as we know, but, y'know. adds a little something if you can see that the cat they chased fought back

hey who remembers this post where i talked about @troutfur's augur au in my own warrior cats story. im sick and bored so im talking about it more now!

in particular i want to think about kittens/gen 2/further arranged marriage stuff.

As a refresher, the current state of affairs re: augurs is--

Crowfire in ShadowClan (the only other patrician here is his brother Beetlefang),

Tawnyowl in ThunderClan (who has 4 adopted, non-patrician kits),

Harepounce, Thistleheart, & Lizardfoot from WindClan (& a bunch of older adult patricians but no young ones; Thistle & Lizard are the only cats who can make more but Hare & Thistle are secret lovers),

Petalfang in RiverClan (which has no other patricians but is expecting a kit from the hopefully inevitable Thistle/Lizard litter).

Lizardfoot is a big problem for Hare & Thistle. For one thing, Liz is aro/ace and has no actual interest in Thistleheart, who ALSO has no interest in her, but both of them would be initially reluctant to admit that to each other for diplomatic reasons. The bigger issue is less that Thistle & Hare are lovers inherently and more that Harepounce was Thistleheart's mentor. While Thistleheart was already almost an adult when Hare started training him and their relationship didn't start until several moons later, this is still a REALLY BIG TABOO and would absolutely entail HEAVY consequences-- Harepounce would absolutely be exiled if they were found out. Lizardfoot seems cool, but they're not willing to take that chance-- so now they have to hide their relationship from someone who sleeps in the same nest as one of them.

Thistle & Lizard would eventually come to an understanding about their relationship, at least. They'll have a litter together and give one kit back to RiverClan. For now let's say they have 3 in total and move on to other clans.

Beetlefang might be married off to Tawnyowl, but he dies during book 2 either way. The most likely turn of events is probably that Tawny refuses a mate of her own because she insists she HAS patrician heirs in her kits, god damn it. (They aren't patricians bc they're not blood related to her, but she won't hear it.)

So the more likely solution is that one of the four (their names are Boapaw, Hazelpaw, Opalpaw, and Blizzardpaw) is married off to Crowfire. Only Opalpaw (who would be an adult by this point, I just don't have a warrior name for her yet) can make biokits with him, which they BOTH hate because everything fills Opalpaw with rage (+ she misses her siblings, + ThunderClan and ShadowClan have bad relations that are only just recovering right now) and Crowfire is gay.

These two will also be expected to have kits and one day send one back to ThunderClan. That way Tawny gets a real apprentice.

Crowfire is a pretty difficult guy to hate, but these two do not like each other. They would eventually have kits but Opalpaw in particular wouldn't be happy about it. The fewer kits they have the more drama, so let's give them two litters of one. The eldest goes back to ThunderClan so they butt heads long enough to have a second... which also only has one kit.

Now our state of affairs is:

Crowfire the Augur and 1 patrician kit in ShadowClan,

Tawnyowl & an apprentice the Augurs in ThunderClan,

Harepounce, Thistleheart, & Lizardfoot the Augurs + 2 patrician kits in WindClan,

Petalfang & an apprentice the Augurs in RiverClan.

I'm comfortable pairing Petal up with a random warrior because she'd have massive brainworms about making more patrician kittens For The Good Of The Clans Tee Em, but I want to keep that in my back pocket for now. In terms of relations...

WindClan & ShadowClan are on very good terms by this point in the story. ShadowClan's relations with Thunder and River are a bit strained. I say the most reasonable thing to happen is that Crowfire takes his own kit as an apprentice and one of the WindClan patrician kits is betrothed to his kit. -1 to WC, +1 to SC.

Now, if Lizardfoot and Thistleheart give up their last patrician kit, things get complicated-- they'll be expected to have more, which they Don't Want. So they keep the last one, which means Tawny & Petal's apprentices both have no mates. Uh oh!

If I stick a Petalkit into the mix that solves the ThunderClan problem (for now), but RC's situation stays dicey. Remember, RiverClan's ONLY patricians are the father and auncle of Petalfang & Lizardfoot, who are littermates. Pressure is on Petalfang & Lizardfoot's parents to have more kits! Pressure that Petal herself would feel, given her general character, so I'm sure her solution to this would be to try and have a frankly inadvisable amount of kittens... but the drama might be better if I don't let her.

Hear me out.

Harestar gets sick- too sick. He has been sick for many many moons and has lost 3 lives to it already.

Crowfeather is worried about his mate. Grief struck, he takes control as leader so Hare can heal, though instead of appointing Breezepelt/talon as his deputy, he mates Heathertail. (Harestar ends up retiring with 3 lives left by the time he gets over his sickness. Windclan is struck cold by how such a healthy leader could have gotten so sick and Crowfeather becomes Crowstar. Having 7 lives instead of 9, which he doesn’t mind as he would rather have his mate live healthy now, then have 9 lives and him dead)

- Squirrelwhisker and Eaglestorm now have two kits, Windflight and Harepounce. (cause u know hares are normally in windclan)

- Harepounce and Rainfur are mates, Windflight is a donor to Rainfur. Tawnyspots and One-eye are their first litter, Dappletail and Thrushpelt are their second.

- Dappletail has a short lived relationship with Stormtail and unfortunately Featherkit and Cricketkit die as kits.

- One-eye and Halftail are still mates, Mousefur and Runningwind their first litter, and Sandstorm the Baby of the Family tm
