HEARTSTOPPER AND RWRB BOTH COMING OUT IN THE SPAN OF A WEEK I AM NOT OKAY NO ONE TALK TO ME FOR THE WHOLE MONTH OF AUGUST

Ok so my sister helped me come to a major realization just now and I’m gonna rant so bear with me here—

the ONLY reason I read Red White and Royal blue back in 2022 after months of hearing about it on TikTok and going “Ehhh I’ll get to that later” is because Heartstopper season 1 dropped and I watched it all in one night because NICK NELSON. THE BISEXUAL AWAKENING. THE PANIC REALIZING oh Shit well that’s not a Straight thing to do AND THEN REALIZING oh Shit well I guess that means IM not straight and having to rethink your whole existence because god if you didn’t notice this about yourself what else haven’t you noticed?? And the like thought process you go through learning to accept that part of yourself because ultimately it’s always been there and why should it be any different now just because of who you love and all of that (And of course the absolutely heart-exploding wonderfullness that is Nick and Charlie❤️❤️❤️)—

I needed more of all of that, because it felt so much like what I went thru realizing I was bi and god it felt like a miracle to see it represented so well?? On screen and in the comic. So yeah I finally turned to this other book I’d been hearing about for AGES because I was told Alex was also bi and had a bi awakening and that Henry and Alex’s love story was to DIE FOR And like… GOOD GOD. PEOPLE WERE RIGHT.

Anyway all this to say— holy SHIT. it’s come full circle for me all over again this year. Heartstopper season two comes out in like less than 48 hours, and I’m going to fall in love with it all over again. And then a little over a week later, the RWRB movie will drop and I’ll fall in love with THAT all over again!!

I’m feeling very emotional and sentimental about all my favorite characters being brought to life either again or for the first time and god these adaptations mean so much to me I can’t wait to absorb them into my fucking soul😭😭😭😭 THIS is why we need things like these THIS is why we need joyful stories that we can see ourselves in

I’ll stop being sappy now but good GOD I love August this year

August really is for the gays, I’ve just binged all of the first season of good omens today (1st) and am now starting season 2, heartstopper comes out the day after tomorrow and rwrb comes out next week

Year End Joy List

i was tagged by @deathclassic to do a fun little joy list of things that happened in 2023. thank you, molly!

this was actually a pretty eventful year for me with a lot of things to look forward to. here's a few of them!

I graduated with my second master's degree

I got my first job out of grad school and made it through the first semester relatively unscathed. there were some stressful weekends though.

I saw the Eras Tour twice! it was my first time ever seeing Taylor live and I've been a fan of her for the past nine years, so it was so special. and I somehow got to hear Our Song twice! I still can't believe that happened. like what are the odds? I apologize if it's annoying that I've brought this up a lot but I will continue to bring it up whenever it's relevant lol

I saw Maisie Peters in concert! in September! so I got to scream "I made it to September" in September!

I saw Noah Reid in concert! it was such a great show and I got to hear him play "Hold On" (my fave song) and "Simply the Best." I nearly started crying when he played the latter because it's a song from a show I've loved for three years and I couldn't believe I was hearing it live.

I met pocket friends this year thanks to concerts! I had never met any pocket friends before and I can't believe I got to meet so many!

we got heartstopper season 2 and rwrb! they've consumed my life since august.

I went to Boston three times to visit my brother.

the danandphilgames channel is back! I still can't believe it. this was nowhere on my 2023 bingo card! I've loved seeing familiar urls come back on my dash!

I got to spend new year's with my mom's side of the family and I've had fun spending time with mis abuelitos, tios, primos, y hermanos.

This past month or two, I've finding it hard to hyper-fixate on something. I'm pretty sure it's because the things I've been looking forward to have come out on a weekly basis (Good Omens: July 28 - Heartstopper: August 3 - RWRB: August 11 - and up until these 3, it had been ATSV & Holes) so I've been, like, HYPER-hyper-fixating for most of August.

And for some reason, I don't like it lmao.

But now, I've fallen back into my Maze Runner phase from 2017-19 💀 and that's what my focus is.

Hi! It’s the rwrb anon again. Thanks for replying to my pointless rant! And yes it’s a great way to look at the 2 medias as different things with certain things in common, or one inspiring the other. I thought the movie was really funny, surprisingly, and very sweet. I think some scenes could’ve been longer or more intense, but obviously not everything can be kept in a movie. I hope they’ll release the deleted scenes? The cornetto scene!🥺

First heartstopper, now rwrb. I feel super lonely now lol I want what they have 😟😔😩

Come rant at me whenever it's always a pleasure :) the movie was super sweet. I regret that the second half of the movie feels rushed - I would have loved to see more emails and have a little glimpse more on how they fall in love (which we might still see if they release the hour or so they cut 🤞🏻).

Early August romanced our little hearts but now it's a painful return to lonely real life... When will it be us ? 😔

what were the f1 themed books 👀 im interested to check them out. i am so happy to hear you are doing so well. i just rewatched wtfock which is why i came back here and i am also looking forward to rwrb a lot!

it's four books in a series called dirty air by lauren asher, and the four books are called throttled, collided, wrecked and redeemed. i haven't read the last one yet (... they're quote long so it takes a bit longer for me to get started on them then), but they're really nice and quite fun to read, and they managed to make me interested in formula one

aww you're so sweet anon! it's been a while time since i rewatched wtfock, but i was in antwerp a month ago and went to some of the locations, and saw the mural as well, and that definitely made me miss wtfock... season three (and wtfock in general) seems like a different lifetime lol. but yeah there's so much to look forward to in august with heartstopper and red, white & royal blue coming out!
