Kagome hummed a melody, enjoying the warmth from the evening summer sun as she sorted through the remainder of her herbs. I wonder where Inuyasha has been all day? He's been acting so weird lately. As if her thoughts summoned him, she stared as he stomped his way towards her, his left hand clutching a bouquet of wildflowers. She patiently waited until he stopped in front of her, knowing she wouldn't have to wait long with her hanyou.

"Kagome." He gruffed, his tone held no heat.

"Yes, Inuyasha?" She blinked up at him, surprised to find his cheeks flushed and had to hold back her amusing smile.

"You've been back for two seasons now and we're practically together."

"Yes, I would assume so since we share a hut together."

"Will you, I mean, could we.... never mind, this is stupid." Oh my, is he embarrassed?

"Inuyasha," She giggled, "Take a breath, then tell me whatever it is you wanted to tell me." She watched as he did just that, his clench on the flowers growing tighter. Taking one final breath, she saw her hanyou square his shoulders, look her straight in the eyes and say two words she did not expect to hear.

"Marry me."

Gaping, Kagome knew her cheeks rivaled his own now. Seconds ticked by and she realized he was waiting for her answer, one she knew in heart from the day she returned to the feudal era. I would marry this man in a million lifetimes.

"Okay."

"Really?" He questioned, almost as if his hanyou hearing didn't catch her words.

"Yes, I'll marry you." She laughed, holding her hands up and he immediately swept her in his arms. He twirled around, both of their laughter filling the field where the Goshinboku sat.

"So," she spoke after a breathless moment, "Are those flowers for me?"

"Like I would give anybody else flowers, cheeky wench." He chuckled, bringing her close and capturing her lips with his own as the sun disappeared from the sky.

And let me tell you, it was! But my god... it was hard. Fleet Week was made to challenge us to think beyond our own ships, beyond our comfort zones, and to reach inside and see what comes out. And I had an incredible time doing that. I hope that you’ll enjoy and read too--beyond your ships! Outside your comfort zones! You may just find something else that touches your heart.

HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS TO @neutronstarchild!!!!!

My dear friend, I am always at a loss to describe how much you mean to me. You are brilliant, and a wonderful writer, YES, and also, a thoughtful friend. This fandom would be remiss without your stories, your support, and your enthusiasm...as would I.

And while we first bonded over our love for a certain silver-haired dog boy, it makes me incredibly happy that we have found other things to enjoy together as well: from Fruits Basket (someday you must write your rare-pair story), to Sk8, to YOI, and, of COURSE...to Demon Slayer.

This year, I had a sneaking feeling that life would be kicking my ass (which, yup, it is), and I worried that I might not be able to deliver a story on time (although there is at least one plot out there with your name on it 💖).

Then I saw that the amazing @heavenin--hell was also a Demon Slayer fan, and I just knew I wanted to commission her to do some Giyuu/Shinobu art for you. Because our friendship and love for anime have grown beyond Inuyasha, and I wanted to give you something that would represent that growth.

And she happily agreed, and she DID, and WOW, and we really, really hope that you like it 💖

So... remember when we said the hiatus would only be a couple of weeks? Yeah, so, about that... time might've gotten away from us. And motivation. And other things.

But it doesn't matter, because we're back now! And to celebrate, we've got a cover art redraw and some new site updates!

There are currently a handful of pages queued up to post over the next few weeks, starting on March 26th, but we're not going to adhere to any sort of schedule anymore. It's the death of motivation for the both of us. Currently updates are queued for every Saturday around 7:00PM EST, but once those are exhausted there are no promises. We'll try to keep up, but life is life.

With that said, make sure you turn post notifications on so you can get a little message when we post! It'll be the easiest way to keep up with us.

I'm excited to share with you a few projects I'm hoping to start posting this next year, while also branching out on some new things, such as new pairings, a different POV, and even an attempt at an original novel by myself. Cheers to the next year!

⌘Sweeter Than Fiction

(InuKag, modern au, strangers to lovers, librarian/hockey player au, eventual smut, fluff)

Summary: Kagome Higurashi is a loner, something that has never bothered her. She has her close friend, she has her favorite books she devours every chance she gets, a family who loves and supports her, and she is in her final year of college, with a dream to become a writer. Kagome’s content, but in reality, she wishes for adventures and excitement, much like the characters in her books. In steps the captain of her college’s hockey team, a rude, unruly, and cocky hanyou named Inuyasha Taisho, and suddenly, her whole world is turned upside down.

Summary: In their 250th year, every youkai receives their human familiar after they complete all the necessary tests and read the handbook on how to train their human. Even Inuyasha will, despite being the first half demon to do so. He expected a kind, docile human as described in said handbook, similar to how his mother was when she met his father. So what does he do when Kagome Higurashi, his human, is the exact opposite?

Inukag 40 ☺️

Coming in at 40 is Blinding Lights by The Weeknd. I'm honestly surprised it's not a little higher on the list, though I've been listening to a bunch of his other songs, so that might be why.

This one ended up being another peek into that Modern AU I keep dabbling in inspired by @heavenin--hell's Inu in a ballcap and a slouchy jacket.

There was so much more to try to shut out in the city. The noise, the smells, the lights… Inuyasha struggled to keep to the building side of the sidewalk in the throngs of people. The performance hall up the road must have just let out and the crowds were pouring out to cover the sidewalks as people went to their cars, the metro… Inuyasha tucked himself into his oversized jacket just a bit more, pulling his hat down over his eyes. He kicked himself for popping out at this time of night when he should have waited for Kagome to get home from her study group. He just wanted to make sure she had something nice to eat when she got back. There hadn’t been much in the apartment, so he’d decided that a trip to the ramen shop down and around the corner was worth it. Mistakes were made. The food in the takeout bag was piping hot against his leg, the scent nearly making his mouth water. But he had to focus hard on it to block out all the smells from the crowd, the street itself, the dumpster in the alley he just passed… Then there were the lights from the bus, the streetlight, and the cars going by. Even with his hat pulled down, the flashing caught his peripheral vision, making him grunt and flinch. He missed the country in moments like this. The stoop to the apartment came into view and the more familiar scents he associated with their building caught his nose. The family on the third floor was making tortillas with the window open. The guy living on the ground floor apartment in the back was frying fish and desperately trying not to set off the smoke alarm. Inuyasha could hear him swearing from his spot on the sidewalk. Most importantly, he could smell Kagome. Looking up, he was a little stunned to find her on the step, waiting for him. Her eyes were worried, but widened then relaxed with relief when she spotted him. He lengthened his stride a little, jostling a few people to get through to the steps and to her. The simple impact of her touch on his arm as she silently greeted him was enough to wash away all the tension in his frame, to calm the agitation and anxiety caused by being out in a crowd of humans from whom he had to hide his presence. She leaned into him as he took her hand, opening the door for them so they could return to their cocoon of safety. As they sat in their tiny kitchen in their tiny one-bedroom apartment, eating their ramen directly out the to-go containers, laughing… Inuyasha was blinded by the glow of Kagome’s smile. The light of the love in her eyes. Maybe the city and its stressors were worth it. For her.

Crowned Jewel

Prologue:

Long ago, the Jewel of Four Soul came into existence and with it, a prophecy was born. “It shall be, when she who protects all the earth’s creatures destroys the darkest of evil, balance will return to the land.” Since then, powerful priestesses have protected the Jewel, only for evil to grasp at its power time and time again. Sacrificing herself, the last one took it with her to the next world until the most powerful of them all would be born, the one the prophecy proclaimed.

Chapter One: Flee

Summary: “There is no escape from the violence of the ones who came before us.”

Screams filled the night air. Mothers crying out for their children, men searching for their wives, the sound of blood squelching as bodies were torn apart. Everywhere she looked, demons slaughtered her people, the bodies littering the ground as she dashed into the Great Forest. Pushing back her nausea, she continued to run, adrenaline pumping through her veins. There has to be somewhere I can hide! Surely they know the dangers of The Darkness and would not dare follow me.
