What does Espio think about people touching his horn? Or what does he think about it in general? I'm sure it gets in the way sometimes lol

on the surface this may seem to be a simple question, but when you think about it more, theres a lot to consider here...

firstly, as an animal- Espio's horn represents his masculinity and strength. he must have some pride in it as it is such a prominent feature on his face, and its big, so unignorable. since as an animal, chameleons use their horns mainly for threat or "you know" displays, touching it would probably make him pretty damn uncomfortable, if he liked you or not

it'd be like going "nice kunai" in a way, like yea it is, but like be careful, that thing pointy. he's also not super emotinally mature romantically so he's a bit young to be cool with people he likes touching his horn anyway lol

in terms of it getting in the way, a funny way to look at it is "please dont hug me so fast, i dont want to skewer you" and for all you shippers- either being RIGHTFULLY nervous about kissing anyone because of it or avoiding the action at all for his partners begrudging safety

It could also highlight a genuine fear of being emotionally vunerable (also sonic can work with this metaphor, it's literally called the hedgehog's dillema) lest someone get hurt because of him.

the hedgehog's dillema is a metaphor about the idea that if two hedgehods tried to cuddle they would hurt eachother because they both have spines which is metaphorical for how oftentimes the closer emotionally that two people get the more they hurt eachother emotionally

the porcupine's dillema is about how the closer that two punks get to eachother literally trying to cuddle the more they literally hurt eachother because they are both wearing spikes and their pericings are getting caught on eachothers fishnets etc

ok ok me and nge have a history because i watched it when i was 17 and extremely depressed after a breakup and id watch it before going to my miserable job at 4.30 am. id get up at 2-3am and watch a few episodes before leaving and i managed to watch it twice that summer.

It really resonated with me at the time, the hedgehog dillema drove me crazy, the theory about different versions of you living in minds of others still haunts me. The concept is so uniquely weird but its needlessly complicated at times with the multiple timeline resets. christ does it have its problems, the misogyny, the objectification and sexualisation of the girls, the antisemitism, the two assault scenes in EoE. It shares a place with a////ot for the fucked up anime to watch youd watch as a teenager in like 2014 but its not fascist propaganda like the other.

it is a staple of the mecha genre for going further into the psychological horror than gundam but its so gassed up and barely criticized
