still haven't read stormbringer but i cannot stop thinking about that one rimlaine tweet i saw that was one of those "do you think we're soulmates in another universe?" "that isn't fair, i want you in this one" tweets solely bc i now know that the real life verlaine and rimbaud were actually in a relationship. the real life verlaine and rimbaud didn't get to be happy in this universe. but do you think they were in another one? or do you think it's inevitable that verlaine shoots rimbaud. do you think they're soulmates in another universe? do you think they're soulmates, not in the sense that they're destined for a happily ever after, but in the sense that their souls will always find each other and still, they will never be allowed happiness? do you think they're soulmates in every universe, but it doesn't even matter? do you think that they are stuck, no matter which time or place they may find themselves in, no matter which lifetime, no matter which universe, no matter the details, do you think they are stuck living out the same story? will it always end the same way? is that what it means to have a soulmate? do you think they were soulmates in this universe? do you think they were soulmates in another? do you think it would change anything if they were?

oh to hear the sound of a breath being taken in the middle of an orchestral score – something so human in the midst of such magic? to have that piece of life in the middle of something recorded, to live forever within a melody?
