However, the lover is seen closing his eyes in anguish as he understands the impact he has left upon his lover. He is questioning whether or not he can continue pursuing such a passionate and enticing woman whom he believed was “out of his league”. However, with Mexican Marigold here we are reminded of the importance of renewal and that it is “Time to begin again: stronger, better.” The chalices in this card are shining with glimmering hope empowered by the maidens longing and imagination. Memories, nostalgia, and melancholy are incredibly powerful forces that one can not simply forget. Henriette was one of the greatest loves of Casanova’s life. The 8 of Chalices are surrounded by the maiden and her lover embracing each other on the chair as they give in to their guilty pleasures. The maiden can not but help to relieve herself as the lover begins to tease her beautiful breasts (some of you may be mothers who breastfed or breastfeed or there is a kink here for that). While the lovers are entwined in their passion they are not privy to the darkened chalices surrounding them; a stark contrast from the previous chalices that glistened with hope. There is a palpable shame that is contained within this card as the lovers are intruded upon by an authoritarian figure (or another lover/wife) that reminds them to come back to reality (if they can!). Their passion is untamable, and they yearn to be one despite the cost of betrayal. This is a card of unexpectedness and re-evaluation. With Stephanotis here we are reminded to Cooperate with authoritarian figures that stand in the way of our desires. “Take the hand offered or ask”. Shame and betrayal can be avoided if we embody the Queen of Swords’ energy from the beginning and confront any issues or blockages that could lead to betrayal or shame. Remember to walk away from something that no longer serves you so that you can move forward to deeper fulfillment. With the bottom of the deck being the Page of Pentacles reversed we are reminded that there is an ample opportunity here that is not being received completely due to a delay or blockage. This delay can be internal, if not external, and you could have some problems reconnecting with yourself. It is time to go within in order to re-create the harmony that has been lost. Practice plenty of self-compassion and self-care so you can bring your wildest fantasies into reality. You are in charge of your life and achieving the deep fulfillment you crave. Vault

“I’m still not understanding why you brought me all this way.”

“Because it’s important.”

“Why is returning to Kaine Island important again? We both almost died here.”

“It’s a surprise.”

“Sly, you know how much I despise surprises.”

“You’ll like this one. I guarantee it.”

Carmelita sighs. The married couple hike through the tropical wildlife, climbing over obstacles and ducking under vines.

“Hold on, I think we’re here.”

The raccoon stops in his tracks. In front of the two there is an entrance to a cave.

The former Inspector looks puzzled. “Is this-?”

Sly simply takes her hand and leads her inside the cave. He takes out a battery-lamp and flicks it on.

The light illuminates a giant, metal door. In the middle there is a indent in the shape of the Cooper Cane.

“So that’s why you brought your cane.”

The retired criminal grins. “Bentley and Penelope engineered and redesigned the entire Cooper vault. I wanted to show you the new look.”

“But...why?”

“Spoilers.”

Carmelita shakes her head. Sly presses his cane in the groove, until he hears a small “ding.”

Like magic, the vault door unlocks and opens, the various mechanisms and gears clicking and whirring like something out of a movie.

Sly and Carmelita make their way inside the vault.

“I wasn’t really a fan of the ‘gauntlet-test’ idea when I first entered. So Bentley and Penelope restructured the vault to make it more...inclusive.”

The raccoon leads the vixen to the center of a large, dark chamber. In the middle lies some sort of podium.

He gestures to the podium. “Put your hand on the black, shiny part.”

“...This better not be a prank…”

“Come on ‘Lita, do you really think this is a prank?”

She shrugs, then places her hand on the podium.

Suddenly, the podium lights up, and the room begins to come to life around them.

Several bright lights flash on from above, and the metal doors on the curved walls of the room unlock and open.

“Welcome, Carmelita.”

Says a robotic voice from an unknown location.

The vixen looks around, baffled. The large, circular chamber has a very high ceiling, every surface seems to be coated in a shiny, chrome-like material. Carved on the stone floor is the Cooper family insignia.

Carmelita turns to her husband, confused. “Okay...so the vault’s been refurbished, is that the surprise?”

“Close, but no.”

Sly beckons to his wife, and she follows him to a large doorway forty degrees to the right.

The pair walk into a long hall, the lights automatically coming on as they move.

The hallway is lined with shrines of some sort. Each shrine is decorated with a painted portrait of a Cooper ancestor, with several artifacts from each relative’s era strategically placed on medium-sized stone bases.

Carmelita recognizes some of the names from Sly’s numerous familial tales. Slytunkhamen, Salim, Riochi, Henriette…

Eventually, they approach the end of the hallway. To the left sits a recently added shrine, with Sly’s portrait, as well as several trinkets: a calling card, an old binocucom, clue bottles…

To the fox’s right sits another shrine, covered in a cloth tarp.

“Who-”

Sly grins. “Why don’t you find out?”

He gestures to the covered shrine.

Carmelita, very confused but curious, approaches the concealed shrine, and removes the tarp.

The shrine is revealed with a portrait of…

...a fox.

Her breathing hitches in her throat. It’s her portrait.

When she looks down, her stone base is littered with roses, her old badge, an empty champagne bottle, and a guitar pick.

She turns to her spouse. “I...I don’t understand…”

Sly’s grin only widens. “You married me, you’re part of my family now. Look.”

He points to a golden plaque on the stone. It reads:

Carmelita Montoya Cooper-Fox

The woman who lifted the curse of Clockwerk

May her name be remembered forever

Before she can stop them, tears come streaming down her face.

“S-Sly, it’s...it’s wonderful. Thank you.”

He embraces her, and she had sworn that she saw his eyes glisten.

After a few moments, the couple end their hug.

“So that was your surprise.”

“Yep! You’re a Cooper now! Now there’s two Coopers instead of one.”

“Three.”

He chuckles. “Well, four if you’re counting Bentley and Murray. Actually, five with Penelope too. Well-”

Suddenly, he snaps back to Carmelita, the realization hitting him like a train.

“...three?”

“Come on, Ringtail. Figure it out.”

His jaw drops, and she smiles like they’ve won the lottery.

“You-”

“Yep.”

“We-”

“Yes.”

“How-How long have you known??”

“A little over a week.”

Sly grins so hard that Carmelita briefly worries that he’ll pull a muscle.

“Carmelita, that’s, that’s-!!!”

He runs into her arms and swings her around, the two of them laughing like hyenas.

“I’m so happy,” Sly cries. “I’m so happy! I’m going to be a father!!!”

Their emotional cries echo throughout the vault. Sly wishes they could echo forever.

SlyTember Day 2

I’m gonna challenge myself by attempting to do something for every day of  @felicity-the-cat ‘s  “Slytember Challenge”.

Here’s my entry for day two (prompt: Ancestor)

I wanted to do a female Cooper ancestor. But I couldn’t settle on just one. So I did all three of the canon female Coopers that we know of:

Naturally, I had to start with the coolest one.

All we know about Karin Coopergiwa is that she invented the coin magnetism move (which caused nearby coins to float over to Sly). So I imagine her designing her cane with a magnet at the top to attract nearby treasures to her

All we know about Suzanne Cooper is that she created the Water Safety move (which kept Sly from taking damage when he fell in the water). So I thought it would be fun to imagine her being so paranoid about drowning that she attached tiny inner tubes to her cane so she could use it as a flotation device in a pinch

I just had an idea

Imagine we get a Sly Cooper movie. The movie starts off with Sly stealing his case file from Inspector Fox's office so he can track down the Fiendish Five and retrieve the pages from the Thievious Raccoonus.

But that's not all, the movie through cinematic storytelling also reveals his secondary goal: to also find any surviving Cooper family members.

Throughout this hypothetical film, he, Bentley and Murray, track down the Fiendish Five one by one, retrieve some missing pages, and are given the next location of the Five through the first member.

As this hypothetical film progresses, we see Sly getting more anxious about his missing family members. He's skimming through that pages that he's collected - reading through the entries of several Cooper clan members - desperate for any sort of clue.

Then the movie finally gets to Clockwerk's lair in the Krakarov Volcano. Sly sneaks in, very careful to not draw any attention to himself.

Sly stumbles into a secret computer room. Now this is the important part, this is a scene that mirrors this scene from Pixar's The Incredibles. Before you read any more, watch it first if you haven't seen it already.

Anyways, ever the snoop, Sly logs into the ginat computer (thanks to some remote hacking from Bentley). He browses the files, and discovers a file name called "Coopers."

He clicks it.

And everything changes.

It starts with Slytankhamun, then Slytankhamun II, then III. Next to their names they are listed as terminated with the version of Clockwerk. Clockwerk v. 1, Clockwerk v. 2, etc.

Sly looks. Big deal, he thinks. They've been dead for 3,000 years.

But then the list gets longer.

The computer keeps going. Salim Al Kupar, terminated. Sir Galleth Cooper, terminated. Riochi Cooper, terminated. Henriette One-Eye Cooper, terminated.

Sly keeps starting at the screen. Mouth agape. The computer keeps going.

Tennessee, terminated. Thaddeus, terminated. Otto, terminated. The computer keeps listing more and more Coopers, ones that hadn't even made it in the Thievious Raccoonus.

All Sly can do is just stare in disbelief as he reads, reads all the Coopers that have been slain by different versions of Clockwerk.

His grandparents? Dead. His aunts and uncles? Dead. His cousins? Dead. All dead.

And it's that moment in this hypothetical film that Sly realizes the horrible, horrible, truth: He is the last one standing. He is the last one left alive.

His goal to find any surviving family members just...evaporates. The thief sinks to his knees and covers his head.

Finally, the computer stops to his mother and father: Conner and Julia Cooper - terminated. Clockwerk is at version 30 by this point.

He searches himself. Next to his name, it says: location known.

It hits him like a truck. He knows he's here.

Suddenly, alarms blare. He's been discovered. Sly tries to make a run for it: but he fails. Clockwerk grabs him, and instead of killing him right then and there - he finds it better to lock him up. To humiliate him a little.

He throws him in a glass chamber. And who else is in the glass prison waiting?

Inspector Fox of course.

Cotton Mouth Bluff, Le Paradox's Blimp, and Egypt for Sly Cooper meme.

Cotton Mouth Bluff: Should Carmelita join the Cooper Gang, either temporarily or permanently?

Yes! Though I do think they would jump through so many hoops to balance it.

Carmelita realizes that the Cooper Gang might be criminals, but they work for the greater good as much as she does. So they learn to cooperate. And as long as the gang can wriggle out from leaving actual evidence behind(something they're very good at), she doesn't have to arrest them.

Most of Interpol probably knows it's total bullshit. But with how many actually dangerous criminals this team up takes down? They are willing to turn a blind eye.

Le Paradox’s Blimp: If they were going to introduce a new Cooper ancestor (established character or not), who should it be?

If y'all have seen my Thieves In Time Rewrite, then you'd know that I really want Conner to have made an actual appearance in that because by fuck the idea is so ready for story lines.

I do also like Henriette, as a pirate Cooper is fun. And I do think going all the way back to Slytunkhamen.

As for non-established ones... I think I like the idea of a Cooper who wasn't a Racoon. Or at least visibly not full Racoon. While I have certian headcanons on this subject, it'd be interesting to see it addressed in Canon.

Egypt: If it was completely up to you, what would the premise of Sly 5 be?

Barring a series reboot, I think we could make a continuation of Thieves in Time but... Better.

Obviously we can't entirely retcon things, as much as I would like to. But there's still plenty we could do with the setup that Thieves in Time gave.

We could start with episode 1 being getting a new Time Machine up and running, figuring out when Sly is, and reuniting the Gang, and finding out that Le Paradox's plans are still somewhat in action.

Like. Do you really think he only sent 5 other criminals back in time to bother the Coopers. He could have had more allies in other Times.

This would give us an excuse to use things that TiT didn't utilize. Like. The idea of not just the Cooper Ancestors, but their allies being called in to help. Especially the fact that they would have families! A spouse and a kid would be good to see.

Or even bring in enemies! The criminal that Le Paradox sent back in Time teams up with a criminal from that Time instrad of just taking over.

Other than either bringing in cool ancestors like Connor, or bringing back old villains(I would kill for Mz. Ruby being sent back to 1920 New Orleans!), there are a few plot threads I would want in this.

1.) Sly and Carmelita figuring things out regarding their relationship and how to balance their careers.

2.) Penelope. Either give her some of a change of heart and come back to the Gang, or retcon her motives in TiT to be more... Not out of left field. Like Le Paradox being the one to plant those ideas in her mind. Or hell. Maybe Dr. M is still alive and was trying to use her like he tried to use Bently in Sly 3.

3.) Bring back Clockwerk!!! Not necessarily in a "he's still alive" way (though tbh that could work too). But just. Clockwerk has haunted the Coopers for generations. TiT gave little cameos, but he was never an actual character. Shouldn't he be interested in these new criminals and even new Coopers showing up? You could even have him be an ally in the "no one other than me is allowed to destroy them!" Way. And most importantly, go into /why/ Clockwerk is so pissed at the family to become a rage fueled Immortal.
