The Clay Girl - Throne of Gold
(Cross posted on Wattpad and AO3)
Prev - Next Chapter
âI haven't seen a lot of horror movies, but this seems like exactly the kind of place they'd suggest to avoid,â Percy said as he saw the flickering sign of Water Land.
âYeah⊠Iâd say the same thing.â Odyssa muttered as they entered the haunted-looking water park, âDo you think monsters would be here? Yâknow, considering that Ares left his shield here?â
âI dunno, I was gonna ask you that.â Percy shrugged, âWhat horror movie reminds you of this?â
âI dunno, something like Dark Ride, right?â Odyssa suggested.
âDark Ride? Hm, never seen it.â Percy said and Odyssa nodded.
âHonestly, I kind of wish I never saw it in the first place.â She admitted, âBut maybe after all of this is over and weâre alive, we could watch it together.â
âLike⊠The two of us?â Percy asked and Odyssa scrunched her face.
âNo, the four of us, Perce.â Odyssa said, âAnnabethâs never seen a movie and Grover doesnât like scary stuff so maybe we could watch something a bit less⊠Horror-like?â
âSounds good to me.â Percy smiled as he pushed through the gate. Odyssa frowned before Percy got locked in and the sound of metal grinding echoed through the silence. âUm⊠Dessa?â
âThatâs Celestial bronze?â Odyssa scrutinized the killing machine.
âOh, fascinating. Dessa, what is happening right now!?â Percy started to panic.
âDonât panic! Itâll only make things worse.â Odyssa said, âCelestial bronze is what your sword is made of. If you're a human, it wonât do anything. If you're a monster or a demigodâŠâ Odyssa let Percy figure out the rest as his eyes widened.
âWell, what's it doing there?â He asked and Odyssa shrugged.
âI dunno but⊠This is not just some amusement park.â She thought out loud, âA god built this placeâŠâ
âWhat god builds a place like this?â
âHephaestus.â She said.
âWhy would Hephaestus build an amusement park?â
âI dunno, but considering Ares' shield is here, Iâm assuming itâs for Ares,â Odyssa said as she scrutinized it.
âOkay, thatâs great! Cool, cool, cool. Now how do I get out of here?â Percy asked.
Odyssa stayed silent as she watched the gears turn. âI think Hephaestus should try doing some haunted houses. Heâd get a lot of money for that.â She said and Percy shook his head. âOkay, Percy, just push through it.â
âWhat?!â
âPush!â She encouraged him. Percy hesitated before looking back at Odyssa.
âWasnât Annabeth the one this morning who was all, âThe Fates say one of us is gonna die and we should take it really seriously?ââ
âPercy just push it!â She said and Percy sighed. He turned back to the gate before pushing it and entering the park. A sign above clicks and the 000 turns to 001.
Odyssa entered the park as well and the 001 turned to 002. âThe machine isn't designed to hurt us. It's meant to scare us.â She explained, âHephaestus wanted to know any time one of us came around his park. And⊠I guess now he knows.â
The duo walked through the park, lights flickered and a few sparks flew. âHey, Dessa? I think that Iâll take you up on that offer for a horror movie night.â Percy said, âWe could probably watch it after this whole quest thing.â
âTotally. Iâll make sure to ask for extra snacks from the kitchen.â Odyssa said and Percy chuckled softly, still slightly weary about the creepiness of Hephaestusâs amusement park.
âThis is⊠Very well built. Annabeth would be impressed if she were here.â Odyssa smiled as she saw the broken-down amusement park rides. âGuess Hephaestus really was the god of craftsmen.â
âIf it belongs to the god of craftsmen, what was the god of war doing here? Aren't they enemies?â Percy asked as they walked past the flickering lights of the Ferris wheel. âThen why'd he split without his shield?â
âWell, if Ares was here then⊠Aphrodite would be here too.â Odyssa frowned.
âYou donât seem to be happy about Aphrodite being here,â Percy said and Odyssa shrugged.
âI dunno, Artemis and Aphrodite never really got along, yâknow?â Odyssa shrugged, âOne thing Ares was telling the truth about is that this family is a messâŠâ
Suddenly, a flicker of lights blasted on it that read âThrill Ride Of Loveâ. Odyssa frowned. Percy swallowed and looked at Odyssa, who seemed to scrutinize the boat.Â
âI think the shield might be in there. Itâs gotta be where Aphrodite and Ares got caught considering they were on a date and all that.â She said and Percy nodded with a tense smile.
âYeah, sure, scary ghost ride into the unknown sounds great,â Percy said sarcastically.
âCalm down, Perce. Itâs not like weâll be stuck in there forever.â Odyssa held out her hand, âAre you coming or am I gonna have to hold your hand?â She smirked and Percy rolled his eyes with a slight smile before the two of them entered the boat.
As the boat waded in the water, the lights flickered softly before a loud pop song played, ââȘ What is love? Baby, don't hurt me⊠âȘâ
Odyssa couldnât keep her composure and chuckled at the song, âWhy do I feel like Iâve heard this beforeâŠâ She muttered and Percy nodded.
âProbably from an orthodontist's office maybe?â Percy suggested and Odyssa nodded.
âThis sounds like the kinda stuff theyâd play.â
ââȘ What is love? Yeah âȘâ
ââȘ Ooh, ooh I don't know⊠âȘâ
A light show was then showcased on the wall. Holograms and figures danced across the tunnel as Odyssa watched in confusion. âWait, I know this.â Percy realized, âIt's Hephaestus's storyâŠâ
âYeah, I figured that muchâŠâ Odyssa muttered, âWhy did he create a Tunnel of Love if he wasnât loved?â
âRejected by Hera. Rejected by Aphrodite.â Percy turned to look at Odyssa, âMy mom told me these stories all the time. I remember this. She saidâŠâ His voice trailed off and Odyssa frowned.
âWhatâd she say?â
âShe said this is what the gods are like to each other. This is the kind of family they are.â Percy said.
âWhy didnât you say that then?â
âShe was trying to keep me away from you guys.â Percy swallowed, âMaybe Annabeth was right. Maybe she should have been preparing me better.â
âMaybe she was preparing you so that you could be different from us,â Odyssa said and Percy nodded, though he wasnât convinced.Â
Suddenly, the machine powered down and the music came to a stop. Odyssa and Percy looked at each other in confusion before being lurched forward by the boat, which led them down a steep watery hill.
âYOU CAN BREATHE UNDERWATER, RIGHT?!â Odyssa yelled through the chaos as she was swung to the side and squished against Percy.
âI THINK SO!â
âYOU THINK SO?!â Odyssa screamed, latching into Percyâs hand as they flew down another level of water.
The boat came to a sudden stop as it floated as smoothly as it once was. Odyssa looked around, eyes widened and heart racing. âAre we underground? I feel like my ears popped a bit.â She panted.
âYeah, I think weâre underground⊠You okay?â Percy asks after he catches his breath.
Odyssa let go of Percyâs hand, much to his dismay. âYeah.â Heâs about to say something to fill the awkward silence when your eyes widen. âThereâs the shield!â
Percy turned to look at the golden statue in the center of the room, the shield between its hands. The boat doesnât stop, though. He looks at Odyssa and then back at the statue. âWeâre gonna have to jump,â He said, and she grimaced. The artificial waves were rocking the boat harder and harder.
âOn three?â Odyssa asked.
Percy smiles in a way that he hopes is reassuring. âOn three.â
âOne⊠Two-!â Before Odyssa can say three, the boat lurches and they both topple over the edge.
As soon as the water closes over her head, sheâs struggling and kicking. Somewhere in the haze, Odyssa could see Percy and reached out. All of a sudden, he disappears in a whirl of water.
Fuck.
Suddenly, something solid rushes to meet her, and Odyssa canât stop coughing. Which was good, that meant she was breathing.
âHey, hey! Are you okay?â Percy asked and Odyssa coughed, leaning over before breathing in the sweet release of air.
âIâm fine.â She said, stumbling as she stood up and wiped her wet hair out of her face.
Percy squinted at the chair. âThis is Hephestasusâ park, right?â Odyssa nodded. âI think this is Heraâs throneâŠâ
âShe sat in it and couldnât get up,â Odyssa remembered the story vaguely, âThis seems to be a machine of it.â
âIt was a trade,â Percy continues. âAphroditeâs hand in marriage for Hera. The shield forâŠâ
âIâll do it.â
He caught her arm as Odyssa started to walk forward. âWait a minute!â
âWhoever goes in there isnât coming back,â Odyssa explained with a frown,
âI know, thatâs why I said wait!â
Odyssa pulled her arm away from Percy, âYou need to stay alive, Percy. Youâre important!â Odyssa defended.
âAnd youâre not?!â
Odyssa swallowed, âItâs like Annabeth said, âToo selfless for my own goodâ. People need you, Percy!â
He opened his mouth, then shut it again. I need you, he wanted to say. But, of course, he didnât. He couldnât.
âThe gods chose you, Percy. This is your quest.â Odyssa smiled, âIâm perfectly fine with-â
âWell, Iâm not!â He protested, though he knew he couldn't beat her. Sheâd burn the world to protect the people she cared about. âAnnabeth needs you, Grover needs you! Lukeâs still back there waiting for you to come back too!â
âZontanĂłs,â Odyssa said, and this time her dagger was facing Percy. âItâs supposed to be like this. The Oracle said youâd live, and the Fates said one of us would die.â
Odyssa blinked back her tears, she couldnât cry. Not in front of him during this moment. Not in front of anyone. Percy uncapped his sword as he pointed it at her.
With a powerful swing, he brought the sword down in a heavy arc, aiming for a decisive blow. The dagger fighter sidestepped with ease, slipping out of the swordâs path just as the blade clattered to the floor.
âYouâre not gonna win this fight, Percy.â Odyssaâs voice trembled along with her hands as she held the dagger to Percyâs face.
Percy walked up to her slowly before pulling her into a hug. âI canât let you go,â Percy said and Odyssa dropped her dagger to the ground as Percy held onto her.
âItâll be okay, maybe you could swing by and ask my mom if she could let me out.â Odyssa said quietly, âItâll be alrightâŠâ
Percyâs hands shook as he eventually let Odyssa go, although his whole soul told him not to, he did. There was no changing her mind. Odyssa walked over to the chair, heart pounding in her chest.
âTell Grover that heâs still a good friend. And tell Annabeth that I love her.â Odyssa smiled, eyes welling up as her voice cracked and she sat down in the chair. âTell Chiron that I wonât be able to finish my chores in the kitchen and tell Luke that we wonât be having that archery re-match anytime soon.â
âIâll get Annabeth⊠Sheâll know how to reverse itâŠâ Percy said, his voice dying as golden tendrils coiled around Odyssaâs arms and wrapped around her feet.
âIâm sorry we couldnât be friends for long, Percy.â Odyssa smiled bittersweetly, tears finally falling. âI was looking forward to it, yâknow?â
âThis is a bad idea,â Percy said, âStand up.â
âI canât,â Odyssa said. Sheâs already accepted her fate. âIâm afraid that Iâll feel like clay again⊠Inanimate and alone, but I know I-I'm not alone. Iâm human. Iâve got you, Iâve got friends. Iâve had a good runâŠâ
âI⊠You canât go.â Percy said, choking on his words as tears threatened to pour.
âBut I am, and I will.â She said. Whatever was seeping onto her face was warm and brittle. âGoodbye, Percy. And good luck.â
Percy watched as Odyssa turned into gold, her face contorted into a permanent smile staring back at him. If he could picture it, her crying face was engraved into his mind.
âIâm not leaving you.â He placed his hand on hers. âItâs a machine⊠So I might be able to break itâŠâ

2100 | just after cronusâ funeral | @hephaestusgalaniâ
he feels unearthed, hollowed out, a shell with fangs and iron in his throat. a torrent of relief and guilt and rage and horror and want and loss and -. itâs not hard to be caught silently crying by the cameras, nor for his voice to choke up as he gave his speech.
itâs true and itâs false and heâs tired but the world is opening up before him, so sue him for lingering at the grave long after even the paparazzi have left. back straight, eyes lowered, heâs been stood like this. until thereâs a footstep behind him and itâs so different from the silence he canât help but flinch, turning to look.
â fae? â the name chokes, the guilt clamouring up, the words unspoken thatâs going to have to learn to bury.

where â backstage, pontius. when â week 1 of kalavria with â @hephaestusgalaniâ
Artemis Rhea knows the power of words. She also knows the power of not saying anything at all. And so, since the newest affair bomb has dropped, Artemis has not spared a breath, texted letter or phone call on Hephaestus Galani. But, here she is, having managed her way backstage, listening absentmindedly to Circeâs pleasing voice, trying to form thoughts on the subject at hand so she can share something on it later. The publicity plan is to not only share cute bikini pics, but also share her point of view on the panels, give some substance, some opposition, something meaty.Â
Focus proves hard to come by, though, and once she hears applause, she gets up from where she has nestled on the floor, fixing the silk of her button-up and waiting, leaning against a wall with one elbow. And then there he is, her fatherâs lover, in all his fucking glory. âHi hi,â she coos, giving a wave. âI realise now that I made a grand error, when I commissioned that piece of art. Paired you with the wrong Rhea. I hope you can forgive me for that miscalculation.â She remains where she stands, tucking her hand in a trouser pocket. Artemis reflects on the apathy that sits in her chest, the void of reaction to any of it. The way she just seems to think weâre even as she looks at Heph, now. âI liked your presentation.â

where â ceto, lab 69 when â first week of kalavria, pre circe & heph presentation with â @hephaestusgalaniââ
Scylla has her inhibitions, when it comes to Scalpelâs acquisition by Aegean Waters. Itâs pride, mostly, a stubborn opposition to sharing what is hers and her teamâs, but everything is a money game, in the end. Not that sheâs particularly moved by drax, either (Â everyone can get their hands on drax: not everyone can do what she does ), but ... money does buy very beautiful labs. And the one reserved for Scalpel, down in Ceto, it continues to slightly stir Scylla every time she steps foot inside it.Â
Hers. Mostly. Partly. She lays claim to it, though: as one of Scalpelâs oldest members and one with some of the deepest knowledge, she thinks it her queendom. Even if itâs part of a larger kingdom. Even if the door says Aegean Waters. In the end, does it matter, though, whose name is on the door? Itâs her, whoâs pouring over code, whoâs finessing, whoâs doing the work. There are noise-cancelling headphones clamped over her ears, eyes intensely staring at her computer screen, eyes flicking over to the holo next to it every time she hits the enter key to make note of the minuscule changes.
She hates working on fake bodies, those made of blue-light and technology. But this is hardly the time for questionable actions, even she knows that, so she toes the line. She works, loses herself in hyperfocus. And, inevitably, she is interrupted. Startled, even. There is Hephaestus Galani, behind the glow of the hologram. Just ... standing there, like some box-shaped apparation. Scylla takes off her headphones, shaking off the bout of surprise that had taken hold of her body. âHello.â Itâs almost a question, this greeting. âSorry, I was focused. Is everything alright?â Thereâs a click of some buttons and the Holo disappears, her screen dies. Scylla thinks she should be more welcoming and polite, considering this is her lab, but sheâd been getting somewhere and struggles to readjust to whatever this is supposed to be. âDid you need me for something?âÂ
#don't question the lab nr#as noah said#''Â the team asked for it specifically ''#scy vc i should be more welcoming#scy 2 secs later vc do u NEED something bc if NOT.#i have a DOOR.#this is long. dont match#or do but if u do i will make it longer again <3#hephaestus & scylla.#hephaestus & scylla: 001.#event: 002.#if u need more dialogue to work with lmk <3#ENOUGH TAG TALK. â° | TASK 001 : POWERS & LIMITATIONS
NAME : eleanora ânoraâ watanabe
CHILD OF : hephaestus
POWER(S) : technokinesis , enhanced crafting
[ TECHNOKINESIS ]: the ability to control electronics and machinery. the user must be in contact with the electronic and machinery they wish to manipulate)
[ ENHANCED CRAFTING ]: the ability to craft weapons, armor, items, artifacts, statues, etc. almost-flawlessly. in order to be most effective, user needs a deeper understanding of what theyâre attempting to craft
INSPO : Â gwen grayson / sue tenny / royal pain ( sky high ) , techna ( winx club ) , master piandao ( avatar the last airbender )
001.  how  did  they  discover  their  powers  and  limitation  ?
so  nora  never  actually  discovers  her  powers  .  it  was  subtle  enough  for  her  to  not  notice  it  .  she  always  just  chalked  it  up  to  being  good  at  what  she  does  .  which  is  also  very  true  .  sheâs  sure  she  wouldâve  been  more  than  capable  of  getting  where  she  is  even  without  her  powers  .  itâs  not  like  she  relied  on  them  to  help  her  .  she  discovers  her  abilities upon  attending  nl  and  thatâs  where  she  also  discovers  her  limits  .
002.  how  do  they  handle  it  ?
they  handled  it  well  for  someone  who  had  no  prior  knowledge  of  being  a  demigod  .  then  again  ,  her  powers  arenât  necessarily  physically  draining  .  they  just  feel  more  connected  to  electronic  and  machinery  .  and  have  an  affinity  for  being  able  to  craft  things  with  research  .
003.  how  do  they  recharge  ?
again  ,  she  doesnât  think  her  powers  are  physically  draining  .  but  if  she  has  to  ,  she  finds  that  taking  a  break  from  technology  helps  .
004.  are  there  any  life  hacks  they  found  to  help  the  restriction  last  shorter  ?
she  hasnât  discovered  any  life  hacks  that  help  the  restriction  last  shorter  but  sheâs  open  to  ideas  from  her  siblings  that  have  the  same  powers  .
005.  how  advanced  do  they  think  they  are  with  their  abilities  ?
nora  thinks  sheâs  pretty  advanced  with  her  abilities  .  she  did  unknowingly  use  it  to  her  advantage  during  her  heist  days  and  she  thinks  she  has  a  good  grasp  on  them  .
006.  whatâs  their  relationship  with  their  power(s)  and  limitation(s)  ?
she  enjoys  her  powers  and  doesnât  think  the  limitations  are  all  too  stifling  .  the  fact  that  sheâs  able  to  manipulate  any  machine  and  able  to  connect  to  any  network  works  vastly  in  her  favor  .  she  also  enjoys  the  aspect  of  crafting  and  all  she  needs  to  be  able  to  effectively  craft  is  a  deeper  understanding  of  the  object  .

Ved Singhâs Task One
TASK ONE âș CHARACTER QUESTIONNAIRE.
(under the cut: vedâs rambling replies)
âș 001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react? â did their mortal parent tell them, were they attacked by a monster, or did someone seek them out to join a demigod camp? how did they react?
itâs a funny story, actually. my parents already knew i was a demigod because hephaestus, for some reason, went up to them and just told them he was trying something out and made me, i guess? i only found out on the week they decided to ship me out to demigod camp. (laughter) i was, like, mom, dad, if you just donât want me around anymore, you could just tell me! but then centaurs and satyrs and nymphs and i just went with it. i havenât met hephaestus, though, so i canât confirm whether my parents were exaggerating things, but then again, centaurs and satyrs and nymphs, so they were most likely telling the truth. i mean, that explained how fast the microwave always heated up my food and stuff. also how i was so good at fixing my dadâs car as a kid. that one got me a lot of fans in the neighborhood. it was technically child labor but they always gave me applauses and praises, so, yeah... Â
âș 002. how does your museâs mortal family feel about them being a demigod? â were they supportive and proud of your muse? or did they reject your muse, ignore them, or try to hide it? or did they have a change of heart over time?
oh, my parents loved it. they were too doting, to be honest, because all they ever wanted was their son to be an engineer, and there i was, fixing cars and building stuff from scratch at such a young age. my sister hated it, which i completely agreed with, but we always had each otherâs backs, so it wasnât a thing. the rest of the family, and by that, i mean my aunts and uncles and the entire neighborhood just thought i was really, really, really good at machines and stuff, but of course not as good as their favorite niece or nephew.  Â
âș 003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent? â did their godly parent claim them when they found out when they were a demigod, or was it a delayed reaction?
i guess hephaestus always kept tabs on me, his experiment, so once my powers got good enough for him, we received a letter directing me to attend a camp and later to join eonia. i never met him but my parents said he actually arrived that day to personally deliver the letter (they had drinks, apparently). i had my own thing, unfortunately, so i missed his visit. i was playing video games with my two friends.Â
âș 004. did they attend a camp? â if so, talk about their experiences here.
oh, yeah, i attended a camp. it was very, very, very interesting. i remember going on this hike and one of the routes was down a slippery hill and i slipped and fell and almost broke my tailbone but didnât? i mean, i guess i should have but that was probably a demigod thing. oh, and i also got yelled at for making a phone out of scratch to watch videos online when we were told that we couldnât use phones that time. they even confiscated my vedphone. itâs all good, though, because i made three more.Â
âș 005. was your muse ever sent on any quests? â if your muse attended a demigod camp, were they ever sent on a quest? more than one? what did the quests entail, and did they fall or succeed?
i was sent on three, actually, but they all felt like i was just being sent by my dad to get groceries. there was that quest where i was supposed to help procure precious iron ore for this master smith but the ore was in a mine supposedly infested by monsters. when we got there, though, the monsters got spooked by my drone when it exploded. (laughter) i, uhh, meant to make it explode. i think they were just sleeping in that mine and thought some sort of godly power was trying to bomb them out or something. we didnât even see the monsters, just heard a lot of scratching and clawing and yelping.
the other quest, i was supposed to retrieve a sacred or godly weapon hephaestus made that fell into the hands of minotaurs. well, turns out, that weapon? it was a spare hammer and the minotaurs didnât even want it. it just fell straight into their home, so we just waited the night, and when they finally left, we just grabbed the hammer and i turned it in to our camp leader and that was that. it was pretty uneventful.
the last quest was just a (clears throat) âcontest of craftingâ to honor hephaestus, and i won it when my drone played music and didnât explode this time. i beat a satyr who made a âcentaur chairâ. yeah.
âș 006. whatâs their relationship with their godly parent? â is it positive, negative, ambivalent? how much contact do they have? does your muse wish it was more or less?Â
to be honest, itâs really hard to have a really good relationship with hephaestus when we donât really have that much contact. i havenât met him physically and most conversations we have are through my phone or my laptop. the only reason iâm not assuming someoneâs just catfishing me is that the messages always knows things that someone whoâs just playing with me wouldnât even bother to know. iâd like to think itâs a positive relationship, though, because he does check up on me every now and then, and he did congratulate me on those quests, but sometimes, iâd really like it if we met physically. it would probably be pretty awkward but it might be nice. i donât know.Â
âș 007. your museâs favorite part about being a demigod? â has it benefited your muse in any particular way? if so, in what way?
i mean, i donât have to call plumbers or electricians when something goes wrong. i can fix my own stuff, so that saves money. i can also fix peopleâs stuff, which gets me more money. the practicality of it all... that, i like.
oh, and also i can heat up my own burrito without needing to use a microwave. pretty nifty.
âș 008. your museâs least favorite part about being a demigod? â has it hindered your muse at all in the past? effected their relationships at all?
hmm. thatâs a hard question. i havenât really had any problems so far about who i am. maybe on the more ethical level, or philosophical level, that kind of thing. like, being a demigod gives me certain advantages over other normal, ordinary humans, so is it really fair that i make money off my abilities or have an easier life than others? most of the time, i donât really think about it. not at all. my brainâs more into making and fixing stuff, so things like that rarely bother me. when they do, though, oof. also, if i made out with a non-demigod, would that actually be a good thing for them or a worse thing? really deep stuff, you know? Â
âș 009. whatâs your museâs weapon and battle proficiency? â you can mention other weapons your muse is proficient in, as well as any battlefield related skills, but be sure to highlight what theyâre the most skillful with.
robodog. definitely robodog.

â sheâs what weâd call, AN OPEN BOOK. â
âș 001. how did your muse find out about being a demigod, and how did they react? â did their mortal parent tell them, were they attacked by a monster, or did someone seek them out to join a demigod camp? how did they react?
how often can things happen before itâs no longer a coincidence? for charlotte & her uncle, that number was well over two dozen instances of display of power. there had always been weird creatures that lurked in corners of restaurants, the dimly lit alleyways of downtown's, the teacher that seemed just a little bit too interested in her personal life. but it came a shock, regardless. greek mythology was never really a huge interest in her life, only a small amount of knowledge that had been obtained from passing discussions within her household. needless to say, charlotte had drowned herself in books in information about the culture surrounding greek mythology.
âș 002. how does your museâs mortal family feel about them being a demigod? â were they supportive and proud of your muse? or did they reject your muse, ignore them, or try to hide it? or did they have a change of heart over time?Â
charlotteâs uncle had started to push her away more, leaving to an unknowing family staff to take care of her. she hasnât really talked to her uncle since she moved onto campus & she does not talk to the rest of her family at all.
âș 003. when did they get claimed by their godly parent? â did their godly parent claim them when they found out when they were a demigod, or was it a delayed reaction?Â
charlotte was claimed shortly after her uncle told her about her origins. she had quite literally just woken up & looked in the mirror to see a fiery hammer hovering above her head. eyes were roughly rubbed & a hand waved above her head to make sure that she was saying things correctly. she promptly ran out of the bathroom & back to her bed where she hid for the rest of the day.Â
âș 004. did they attend a camp? â if so, talk about their experiences here.
no, she did not.
âș 005. was your muse ever sent on any quests? â if your muse attended a demigod camp, were they ever sent on a quest? more than one? what did the quests entail, and did they fall or succeed?Â
n/a
âș 006. whatâs their relationship with their godly parent? â is it positive, negative, ambivalent? how much contact do they have? does your muse wish it was more or less?Â
the contact between charlotte & hephaestus is honestly bare minimum, but she still appreciates it. she deeply wishes that thereâd be more contact with her father, but she also realizes that there are demigods that have no contact with their parent. most of the experiences she has are on the positive side, on the rare occasion that they do happen. charlotte does indeed spend a lot of time praying, talking, and making small offerings to both her father and the other gods and deities within greek mythology. she doesnât entirely know if they listen, but she likes to think that they do.
âș 007. your museâs favorite part about being a demigod? â has it benefited your muse in any particular way? if so, in what way?
charlotteâs favorite part of being a demigod is the extended family & the abilities that she has to help with her hobbies. she greatly thinks that her heritage has influenced a handful of major life choices & has lead her down a better path than one of not having any godly blood. she now has a wide team behind her to support whatever she does.
âș 008. your museâs least favorite part about being a demigod? â has it hindered your muse at all in the past? effected their relationships at all?
she is deeply afraid that sheâll end up spending the rest of her life living in constant fear of the monsters around the corner. the idea of living a perfect life to only have it ripped apart because she dares to leave the grounds keeps her up at night & wakes her up in a cold sweat when she falls asleep. any type of relationship - specifically romantic - leaves her deeply anxious. her worst fear is that her girlfriend or wife would die because they just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time & charlotte had no way to defeat them in.
âș 009. whatâs your museâs weapon and battle proficiency? â you can mention other weapons your muse is proficient in, as well as any battlefield related skills, but be sure to highlight what theyâre the most skillful with.
charlotte's preferred weapons will always swords (specifically a curved sword, long swords, & short swords,) any type of shields (but sheâll go for a lighter - weight one most of the time,) & daggers (scottish, trench, & stiletto.) most of her weapons end up being both designed & made for herself to ensure that itâll fit well with her body type and fighting ability. fighting wise, charlotte chooses to focuse/use more skills centered around the concept of pankration (which, quite frankly, wears her out quickly & is the least intelligent way to fight.) she follows the traditional greek way of battling which uses defensive moves versus offensive moves in an effort to outsmart her opponent. this battle style uses things such as slashing, tumbling, using her shield as a weapon rather than a protective item, etc. etc.

FRESH OFF MT. OLYMPUS WE PRESENT YOU HEPHAESTUS. HERE IN SEOUL THEY ARE KNOWN AS SON JUWON, SAID TO BE TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS OLD. LOCALS SAY THEY LOOK A LOT LIKE JI CHANG WOOK, DO YOU SEE IT? EITHER WAY, I WONDER WHAT THEIR FATE WILL BE.
i.
he opens his eyes in lemnos, an island just off the coast of greece. a soft breeze caresses the side of his face, his back resting against a bed of sand. as if after a lapse in memory, hephaestus slowly regains consciousness, the fire in his veins return.
his legs ache, the sun is so bright in the sky that he needs to bring his hand up to save himself from heliosâ fiery gaze. it only bothers him for a few seconds, before he fully understands what has happened. cast off mount olympus, his clenches his fists and sits up, looking down at his own mangled legs, the memory of being powerful and lavish just on that very mountain. iâll go back, he promises, and the next thing he knows, sintians have come to his aid, singing praises and showering him with medicine and food.
ii.
the god is pleased to say the least, those who are called destroyers worship him so well that he takes them under his own wing, and promises them power as long as they continue their praise. it only takes some time until the god is back in his previous glory, working with them, teaching them his own craft as they forge metal with unforgiving fire.
hephaestus makes them extraordinary weapons fit for gods, and it just takes another war for him to prove his worth yet again. thetis comes to him, and he makes a great shield fit for a great warrior. for achilles, a shield and a sword are forged of excellent quality, strong yet light in weight; stories written on that surface that leave every mortal to marvel at its beauty. even gods are jealous of his crafts, so he is called once again to forge them whatever they wish, his own pride swelling at praise coming from such lips.
iii.
a lot more happens in the span of an eternity. bonds are made and broken, many words that take the façade of truth turn out to be a lie after all. and hephaestus, more humanlike in emotion and mind than he would ever like â gets caught in a wave he doesnât know how to get off.
he tells himself itâs love, he believes it is love â what else can it be? that warmth of a feeling that swells inside him, making him forget his lameness, the deformaiton so clear to see on his face. he believes and loves, perhaps unlike his own worshippers that lie at his own feet. he showers her with calm, rough hands worshipping her silky touch, well-crafted pieces of jewelry, his own masterpieces â made just for her.
and as all good things do, it all ends. it leaves him bitter, heartbroken, furious in a way that he doesnât remember ever being. itâs hard to channel all that emotion, so hephaestus finds solace in two things; creating more, and drinking more.
iv.
then something interesting happens â hephaestus had never been too interested in fights between gods that at first, he thinks itâs nothing but that â but this, itâs not a simple strife between lovers or enemies. this concerns them all in a way that he doesnât know what to do with it. he opens his eyes in a haze from ambrosia and wine; and sees the sky filled with fire he hasnât ignited himself.
screams fill the air, war chants that come from no one but the titans themselves. gods around him are in a frenzy, and before hephaestus can even begin to understand what the hell is going on, everything turns dark, and thatâs the last memory he has of his previous life.
000.
this time, he opens his eyes in seoul, in a small flat with big windows, night lights of the city illuminating the dark room. and just like that, he isnât hepheastus anymore. the god of fire has lost all his power, and learns that he canât even make a simple spark with the snap of his fingers. itâs all gone, and to wake up in a mortal body is more disorienting than he ever thought it would be, more disorienting than that day he washed up on the shore of lemnos.
youâre not hephaestus, a voice supplies unhelpfully. son juwon, thatâs who you are. and memories come back in a rush, an unfamiliar past thatâs supposed to be his. itâs not too well-constructed, he supposes, this person has no wealth or power â but it gives him a clear vision of who son juwon is, and who he himself is supposed to be.
he stands on steady feet, and raises a hand to his face, traces the foreign lines with hands that are much softer than he remembers. a frown spreads to his lips as he searches for a source of light, blindly touching the walls until he finds the device to turn them on. thereâs a mirror at the corner of his room, and in a matter of seconds, juwon stands in front of it, looking at the physical body heâs in.
his heart leaps, an odd feeling fills his chest â there is no deformation, no obvious scars that became a part of himself; and even though that fire in his veins is dimmed, he finds that he likes standing on two steady, strong feet. itâll take some time getting used to, he supposes, and wishes if only he had powers too.
001.
itâs a punishment, that much is clear â yet hephaestus finds out soon enough that son juwon isnât too different in character at all. he also works with machinery, skilled hands work on wires, forging the casing of different machines. it has more to do with technology than he would have ever thought, but he learns that juwon is an engineer, a good one at that, dabbling in both theoretics and practice.
on his free time, he works for a friend of his, a goldsmith, working with her clothing line and designing jewellery like he used to. itâs clear to see this job is much more creative, yet juwon cherishes the contrast between his day-to-day job and working on jewellery with her, skilled hands crafting gold and silver to go with the designs she makes.
002.
it takes a lot less time to get used to a mortal body than he would have ever thought â and even less than that to fall back into his old habits. the earthly vices are strong, maybe nowhere near those on mount olympus, but juwon finds out that some scars remain, and drinking is quite helpful to forget.
there is no ambrosia, or divine delights, but he makes do, enjoys his work in the day, and drowns his sorrows with liquor at night. some nights he spends by his desk working, designing, crafting, and some nights he doesnât even remember the night before.
itâs a much weaker body, but juwon continues on living â when heâs so drunk at night that he canât remember the day before, he even questions if this life is any different, but then again, a damned headache in the morning always reveals that yes, yes it is.

arrival on pontius after heretedia | @hephaestusgalaniâ
as soon as the plane touches down, poseidon is on the deck, completely ignoring where the other plane lands. doesnât look back, half a dozen different holo text threads dancing over his knuckles, striding straight for his office. he pulls up the immediate to-do lists, shoots off a text to hephaestus, to the head of operations onboard, catalogues what his presence is needed for.
it takes 15 minutes, maybe pushing 20. the tension in his shoulders fueling his speed, tension that hasnât left since zeus hung up. it leaves him with 10 minutes to stand, hands white-knuckle on the back of his chair. 10 minutes to dismiss every way the next conversation could go. 10 minutes of anger and anxiety and fear and guilt and frustration and want and need and -
he heads to lab 14. he opens the door, 30 minutes after the text, on the dot. heâs fine.

002: Captain Isabelle Lovelace
How I feel about this character: Sheâs a great character that I love and hate. I admire her strength, fight, and humanity, but i hate her stubbornness and what she had done to the current Hephaestus crew.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: no one. While maybe in another life I would ship her, there is to much about her and their situation that makes romantic entanglements something that is absolutely not on her radar.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Lovelace and Eiffel. I love their similarity. And if it werenât for the situation I think they would have been great friends and maybe they still can be.
My unpopular opinion about this character: Iâm not sure if any of my opinions would be considered unpopular. I guess I wouldnât be heartbroken if she was dead.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish she made it back to earth.
my OTP: donât have one.
my cross over ship: donât have one.
a headcanon fact: sheâs trans and will fight.

hephaestus.
Of the articleâs aftermath, heâd been dreading meeting Zeusâs children the most. Really, heâd had no intention of being seen at all during the entirety of the summit, keeping to late night hours to roam Pontius or to his own quarters, poring over his literature and notes, streaming the sessions and panels as they took place mere paces away.Â
Itâs cowardice, but not without reason, not without justification. Thereâs no avoiding the presentation with Circe, however, and all signs of reticence, any hint of what revelations heâd been made privy to, vanish as he steps on stage, delivers his part with appropriate gusto, and immediately surge back as soon as he steps back off, making a break for the exit, to retreat back to his quarters.Â
Artemis is already waiting for him behind the stage, of course she is, and he stutters in his steps, quirks his lips at her words. Clever quip. Wonders ruefully, bitterly, if sheâd taken the whole two weeks to think of it. âFair enough. Donât suppose your artist accepts returns?â He shoves his hands into his pockets, steels himself for more quips of the same ilk. âThank you, Artemis.â Thinks, he ought to apologize, but it would feel⊠impersonal, surrounded by stage and lights and observers. Perhaps itâs more comfortable for Artemis. âEnjoying Pontius?âÂ
The entire ordeal is an ugly mirror, reflecting what life has always been and will always be. Lies and secrecy, deceit and betrayal, all of it hidden under a few layers that are easily ripped away. And once it is, the media runs with it, spins it and spins it into golden thread that will line their tapestry forever. Perhaps what sheâs most mad at, is what it says of this world. That betrayal is not just that: it is also a headline. It is also a story.
Does she hate Hephaestus? Of course not. At least not any more than she might have before, as love and hate have always been synonyms for her. Her cruelty now, however, isnât born out of hatred. Itâs powerlessness. âI donât return art as a rule,â she says, then gives a sweet smile, âBut if youâd like to get a painting of my dad and yourself, Iâll forward you their information.â
Artemis pushes herself off the wall, inches closer, keeps her hand in her trouser pockets and places the one that had been dangling by her body in the other. âI enjoy myself everywhere I go. There are places Iâd rather be right now, though, but who am I to deny an invitation?â She shrugs, halts, keeps some distance between herself and Hephaestus. âDo hope you and the rest of the executives wonât grow to regret my being here.â She blinks, taps her fingers against her leg underneath the fabric. âWith the media circus in town, who knows what might happen.â
