I gotta ask what the atn pov theory is
Haha fair. My current theory is that it's going to be an alecto/harrow pov combo. Apologies for how long the explanation got.
I'm basing this off of patterns from previous books and also what we know about alecto the ninth - mainly, that nona the ninth got split into two books because it got so long. Also, the epilogue of each book has featured the pov of a character who has chapter povs in the book that follows it (harrow at the end of gtn, nona at the end of harrow).
Alecto: atn is literally "her" book haha. Similarly there's the rationale that nona/alecto was narrator of ntn, just now it's split into two. She is also the pov of the epilogue of nona the ninth.
Harrow: the john chapters in ntn...are technically john talking to harrow. Most of it is filtered through harrow witnessing alecto's memory but in the final of those chapters harrow is refered to by name and asks john questions before returning to the river and her body. I think it's very possible that harrow would have been the pov of more of nona the ninth, if it hadn't been split. She is also one of the 3 povs we have seen (in the main works - not including as yet unsent, the unwanted guest, dr sex, etc.), and so far tamsyn has only added povs at the same time as book titles. Like gideon narrates her entire book and harrow pov is added in htn, then nona is added in ntn, etc. So theoretically the additional pov is "alecto" and any of the previous characters.
I also am specficially theorizing there will be at least 2 povs. None of the books have more than 2 (exempting the epilogues) so far but it's entirely possible that atn is different. As fantastic as "get in line thou big slut" is, and as much as tamsyn embraces complex prose and is unafraid to make readers work for the story, I still feel like it might not be reasonable to publish a book (at least, not all of it) written like a passage of scripture. Like I said earlier, technically the only 3 people who's point of view we have read from in the main works are gideon, harrow, and nona/alecto. I wouldn't be surprised to see narration from someone else like pyrrha or paul or john, but that would break the pattern. So if not harrow, then kiriona (which!! I would love! Girlie I wan't to know what you're thinking soooo badly). To me harrow is the most logical second perspective.
My final thought here has 0 logical basis lol. I just really like the vibes. My current mental image of pov distribution looks kind of like this:
Tumblr media
So I just think it would be fun for it to end up sort of like this:
Tumblr media
I also still have strong hopes and dreams for griddlehark from harrow (or gideon) pov.
Anyways! I'm definitely not 100% about this theory, just something I rotate in my brain for fun. Tamsyn likes to be misleading about the identity of the narrator and reveal it later so who knows. There has also been plenty of time between the announcement of ntn being split for new elements and povs to be implemented. So all this said, I would not be surprised in the slightest if there was a completely different pov thrown in there out of nowhere.

I’m deeply in love with your artstyle! What do you headcanon for the Naruto characters appearances and how did you come to that?
thank you!! assuming you mean facial features + body types and the like, it's honestly a very "vibes"-based approach AKSDMKM i wrote down a feeew of my thoughts in [ this post ] (which i doodled as i was still not done watching naruto LMAO) but it's mostly about like.. picking aspects of the character that jump out to me and thinking about how to incorporate that in my interpretation of them, a lot of the time it's their eyes (for example i Adore itachi's stupid prettyboy eyelashes so i knew i wanted to draw those) but it could be just about anything; some examples of my beloved Guys:
with itachi i wanted a 'ghostly' kind of look to him because he is very aloof and distant, i also like having him be Long and Bony for a lack of a better word for the same reason?
with sasuke i wanted a very sweet and earnest "trying to look tough but failing because he's a little guy" vibe, mostly because those are the thoughts that were going thru my brain in any given sasuke scene in our naruto watch
for kakashi i needed his prettyboy charms coupled with his depressed everything
etc! it's hard to convey how/why something comes off a certain way, and that's mostly because imo any given appearance can be used to convey any sort of idea depending on execution! it's not Just "round = friendly and triangle = angry" yk you gotta like. flavor it for the lack of a better word
i'll put the rest under a read more so it's not too long ^^
for more general examples here's my kabuto (yeah i'm a kabuto liker. woe.), konan and nagato
Tumblr media
kabuto (esp. in shippuden) has sharper features and i also wanted to go with a face type i'm not AS used to drawing for funsies, i also think the Angles contrast well with his (...stupid...) glasses.
kabuto is an adult but he's still very young esp when we first meet him so when drawing his younger self i'd like to put emphasis on that (especially because he presents himself as friendly), thus the slightly rounder features. by contrast in shippuden he's Going Through Some Things so the spikes in his hair are emphasized and he looks a bit more mature
Tumblr media
konan for me sticks out as like, "bold"? not aggressive but very intense if that makes any sense, she's a very serious person and you can tell from the moment you see her, nagato ofc has the rinnegan so his eyes have to be the main feature of his face, and similar to itachi he has a thinner body type... what i wanted with him was similarly a very serious person with a lot of edge to his gaze due to his special dojutsu. and finally on a more subjective level i wanted them to look like they match/belong together because i'm very normal about them ♥
i also enjoy conveying character through how hair is maintained, so for nagato he lets his hair grow kind of however it wants to, konan is more meticulous about hers (tho i forgot to draw her bun in that LOL), and kabuto (given when his design transitions to the shorter hair) i very much picture cutting his in a moment of crisis (pictured below. <3)
Tumblr media
there's also always like.. the Fullness of the hair if it makes sense, i enjoy drawing 'fluffier' stereotypical anime hairstyles a lot but i also really like having people like itachi with finer hair and such, i also think varying that between characters gives each a more unique charm :)
one should also note that a lot of the times the physical features are only half the impression, the other half is how they carry themselves and body language conscious And subconscious!
i think in general studying from life will never lead you wrong (even if your style isn't 'realistic', like, mine certainly has anime leanings), and being mindful of what kind of choice/feature you give someone and what you think that implies about them is always important :) the characters i draw are all characters i like so i try to let whatever makes me fond about them have an influence ^^
it's a constant learning process imo i personally find that even if i like how i draw faces Now i often find them wonky like, 6 months later? but i take that less to mean that i drew them Bad and more to mean i've improved lol

sorry if u answered this before but do you hc Eiffel as any particular race? I know him being white would probably match how he sees himself as the everyman. But on the other hand he gives me light skin vibes and I can't explain why. (Also no matter what he has long hair but curly haired Eiffel just speaks to me)
mm. i know you're just asking for my opinion, but that's a complicated question. and i am not the right person to be talking about this, so please take it with a grain of salt. one of the few legitimate criticisms i have of wolf 359 is that it's a show about personal identity, resisting dehumanization, and recognizing that other people navigate the world in different ways, but it tries to be raceblind. which. it can't. particularly when something like minkowski's identity as a polish immigrant is addressed.
i think one of the reasons that wolf 359 characters feel as real as they do is how collaborative the character development process was; they are really roles that are shaped by and belong to those actors. lovelace is played by a black actress, cecilia lynn-jacobs's input determined a lot of things about her, and the audience reaction to lovelace getting shot near the end of s3 was the way it was because there was an understanding of her as a black woman. whether she was initially written to be black is kind of irrelevant in that case, i think - she still is, and she resonates with people that way.
but every other main character in wolf 359 is played by, and similarly influenced by, a white person. and that's a problem. no matter how you approach it, wolf 359 is not a diverse show: if they were written as non-white, then being played by white people would be a problem. raceblindness also enforces a default assumption of whiteness. i think if eiffel wasn't meant to be read as white, then there are aspects of his character arc, his assumption of himself as the "default" person and general ignorance of how it feels to be "other", that probably could've been explored from a different angle.
i know people who see him as white because of that, and i know people who see him as another race because of how they connect with him as a character. and i can understand both perspectives on that, but i don't think there's a right way to approach it. i think the show unfortunately, in this one specific way, kind of dug its own grave. gabriel urbina has said however you see these characters, that's correct, and i can agree with the sentiment, but it's also mired in a lot of difficult context, because these are specific people, and these things should matter to them. it can't be interchangeable, and so it can't be that ambiguous. it could be handled a lot better. and based on his more recent work + politics, i wonder if he would've approached it differently, if he had all the information then.
about how i see eiffel: i've said many times before that i see him as a man who could be reasonably played by zach valenti, so the eiffel in my head is white. the eiffel in the art i commission, or the art where i'm like "oh!! eiffel!!" is not necessarily. the second most eiffel-like guy i can think of, who i also use as a reference sometimes, is iranian. but for me to say that eiffel was iranian is not really a claim i think it would be right for me to make, and i think it is probably not true.
the main features that i think eiffel must have are dark, wavy/curly hair, prominent nose, noticeable body hair, generally expressive. he absolutely cannot be light haired, clean shaven, or pale. and from a general standpoint, like... a wide variety of men could meet those qualifications. i don't want to reinforce an assumption of whiteness, but i'm also extremely wary about treating race as functionally cosmetic, since. again. it can't be. no show is removed from real life social contexts, and wolf 359 is about a lot of very real things.
i think if you do interpret eiffel as specifically a cis, able-bodied white guy, there's something very real and very unfortunate about the fact he initially ignores lovelace and hera, two marginalized women, and seeks reassurance from minkowski that they were overreacting. he listens eventually, but the person who gets through to him is presumably the Next Most Visibly Privileged Person, and that's... hm.

Part 1 of rating Scott Pilgrim characters based on how well I think their design was transferred from the comics to the anime
1. Scott Pilgrim
Tumblr media Tumblr media
10/10: Not much to say honestly. The only difference I can point out is that they gave Scott his pointier hair from later in the comics when in the time period SPTO takes place in, comic Scott was originally drawn with a more flat hair style. Either way they're pretty much the same.
2. Ramona Flowers
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8/10: While it's not necessarily a bad change, there's definitely a lot of small differences in anime Ramona's appearance like the longer, two-toned hair that gives off a softer vibe than her original more jagged haircut. She's also given fuller eyelashes that, similarly to Scott's hair, resemble her appearance in the later books more.
3. Wallace Wells
Tumblr media Tumblr media
6/10: I'm not a fan. I feel like they changed Wallace's eye shape too much which is one of the main defining features for a lot of characters in the series, like with Scott and Stacey's matching wide circular eyes to show that they're related. Comic Wallace's eyes are usually more rectangular with the quirk in his eyebrow while anime Wallace's eyes are more rounded and the top lash line is fuller + usually no eyebrow quirk. A seperate gripe I have is how much shorter anime Wallace seems compared to other characters when comic Wallace is 6 ft.
4. Kim Pine
Tumblr media Tumblr media
9/10: Not much to say about Kim. Other than her hair being slightly longer she looks pretty much the same. My only complaint is that I wish they made her freckles in the anime a little more noticeable.
5. Stephen Stills
Tumblr media Tumblr media
10/10: Idk like Kim there's not much to say about Stephen. They did change his eyes a little bit, similarly to Wallace, but for Stephen they just removed some of the extra lines instead of changing the whole shape so it's not as noticeable. Probably one of the closest matches behind Scott.

February 2024 Monthly Music Recs
February/Near February Releases:
"Take Me" Cookiee Kawaii. If you've liked any of the soundtracks for Spiderverse, try this song. It's a new direction for CK and she's doing so well.
"Light(N)ing" Stap Sigh Boys. Don't know how to explain this--psychedelic and funky, a bit Daft Punk-y at times, and it's technically J-Rock but is completely English. Vocals are weird and FUN.
"Stick Up" Uniiqu3 & Black Caviar. Kinda has Missy Elliot vibes.
"Glitter" Suzy Sheer. Generic but good electronica. A pleasant filler track for any dance playlist, imo.
"Silence is Loud" & "Crowded Roomz" Nia Archives. Good UK drum and bass. Perfectly calibrated to be both emotionally resonant and just... fuck. These songs fuck.
Picking a song off his mini was hard but going off instinct, I'll highlight "Dangerous" by Ten, member of NCT/WayV/SuperM. The song is just good, it's accesible; it's an alcohol drink that goes down smooth, you know?
Similarly hard is choosing songs off of Club Shy! I LOVE "4eva" and "Thicc" by Shygirl + some great features. This is club music for the girls, for the gays, for anyone who wants to let loose.
While nowhere near as good as "Coloris" from my url, She has come out with a new song "Vector Break", if you like more electronic based video game music, give it a listen but if you don't like it STILL GIVE COLORIS A SHOT.
Dance music is the name of the game this month! "SMSOU" by Eliminate & Frost Children is just great dance music with some light hyperpop sensibilities and whimsy.
"The End of the Contender" Everything Everything. This is the most straightforward alt rock Everything Everything has gone for but it works and still brushes against melancholy in such a compelling way.
"Burn Alive" The Last Dinner Party. Dark with some edge. Maybe Kate Bushy (I don't listen to her, sorry). Kinda Florence-y. God, yeah, it's Florence-y.
"One Night/All Night" Justice & Tame Impala. It's Justice... and Tame Impala. Need I say more?
NGL, this is surprisingly... English? Which is surprising to me. In part because I've listened to this 90s Tai-pop song on repeat every single day. I also got back into Maximum the Hormone thanks to that tumblr post.

what were your top 10 LEAST FAVORITE movies of 2023 (so far....)
Oh, OLIVIA. Off to your letterboxd I go!!!
But some immediate ... recent... additions:
Maestro--This is the most obnoxiously Oscar bait-y, vanity project-y movie I've seen in a long time. Like, I'm not inherently opposed to Oscar bait, I think a movie can be Oscar bait and also good. But this... I'm not super impressed by Carey or Bradley in general (I did love him with ASIB but I think he benefited from several external factors) and here??? Dry as a bone. She was better than him, but WHO WOULDN'T BE because he was giving the most try hard, bullshit performance. And cutting down Bernstein's sexuality to an OFFENSIVE and confusing degree. What even was Bernstein's relationship with Felicia? Where did that shit where she was all YOU'RE SO HATEFUL from??? I though she hated him because he was fucking around their entire marriage (even though the script implied she was... down? At one point?) and suddenly she's all YOU'RE HATEFUL AND YOU'RE GONNA DIE A LONELY OLD QUEEN. What??? And as someone who didn't know much about Bernstein going in beyond his sexuality, I feel like I still don't know much.
Priscilla--Similarly bad biopic anchored by a completely flat performance by a woman who's getting acclaim because she is the white girl of the week who everyone claims is so amazing and transformative because she has no distinguishing features and a flat affect everyone can project onto. Especially bad because Jacob Elordi can't maintain an accent to save his life and the movie was incapable of translating the incredible crush Priscilla would've felt underneath both his persona and his fame. I never got the sense of this guy's fame, and Elvis was INSANELY famous at his peak. I thought it was just bad, dude. And I frankly don't know why we felt the need for this liberation narrative when the sad truth is that Priscilla's entire career has been based on this idea that she's Elvis's widow (when they'd been divorced for years when he died and he was actually in a serious relationship with another woman when he died). And you know what? She has a right to that. I don't have an issue with that. I don't think she would've ever made as much money doing anything else, and he stole her childhood so go off. BUT. That does undermine a liberation narrative for me, and I can't get over it, especially because Priscilla has been so (willingly) in the press for the past couple of years.
Saltburn--Emerald Fennell cannot write a script and Emerald Fennell doesn't direct a super interesting movie, aside from some interesting (if not super original) visuals. I've already gone off about this movie. Barry gave a fun performance. Jacob gave him jack shit.
Anyone But You--I don't know if I'd even be as outraged about this if people didn't hype it up, but lol. It's dumb. It feels like a mid to bad romcom from 2005, which makes it worse in 2023. Finding out that the director/writer directed Easy A back in the day was suuuuch a reveal. He redid the retelling conceit, the Natasha Bedingfield deal, and the obnoxious vibes.
After Everything--Look, I didn't expect to like this, at all lol, but I did expect some laughs because I did in fact cry laughing at a couple of the other movies. BUT. TESSAH wasn't even in this for more than five minutes. Which, bless that actress, VALID. But this was like. Bad and not even bad with unintentionally funny moments??? It was mostly about Hardon??? No.
Your Place Or Mine--Can you believe this came out this year? They created a movie... so dry... and devoid of chemistry. A great example of why chemistry is important and how Hollywood has stopped caring.
Love Again--Sam Heughan. What happened. This is another one where I'm like you could've given me something. It was kind of a Celine Dion tribute piece with Celine as fairy godmother and I love Celine. But so boring. So forgettable.
Ghosted--Hideously bad. Ana de Armas is over for me lmao. I mean, she was already, but I was gonna give her a fun little romcom. Holy shit. Bad. Horrible. I kept waiting for a fun twist. NoPE!
What's Love Got to Do With It?--Bad, racist, I HATE its depiction of arranged marriage and the white bystanders gawking at it, ew ew ew hate.
Magic Mike's Last Dance--DUDE. DUDE WHAT THE FUCK WAS THIS. WHAT THE FUCK. HE DIDN'T EVEN STRIP. WHERE WAS THE STRIPPING. WHAT HAPPENED. This movie, to me, is literally the perfect encapsulation of how bad sexlessness has become in media. Can't even fucking watching a fucking Magic Mike movie without some ass. Jesus Christ. What's happened to the world.

Limbus Tamers
The limbus brainrot is terminal and digimon has been worming its way back so why not combine the two together. I’m not the biggest Digimon nerd (mainly watched some Adventure, 02 and Tamers and played Digimon world 3 and Cybersleuth) so I’ve been using Wikimon to help with the evolution lines, while  yes I could just mix and max anything I tried to use Digimon that actually evolve into one another.
I may do another one with Dante, Charon and Vergilius plus any Sinner I want revisit. So onward to my dubious picks!
Tumblr media
For Yi Sang I chose this line mostly for his desire to have wings and his association with crows. Plus Yatagaramon is cool.
Tumblr media
For Faust I focused on her witch imagery, what with her base E.G.O. giving her a broom and her codename being Walpurgisnacht, and her vast knowledge with Impmon being a stand in for Mephistopheles (I know Mephismon exist I already had settled on witchmon and needed a rookie). AncientWisemon could have gone to Yi Sang since he invented the mirror we use to pull the gacha but it still have that sorcerer vibe.
Tumblr media
For La Creatura I settled for the Guilmon line mostly because Gallantmon/Dukemon, being a Royal Knight, fitted with her knightly delusions and also because I remember Guilmon going feral at some points in Tamers. Plus if we go for Dark Digivolutions, when Don completely snaps she could go down the Megidramon (or even ChaosDukemon) route similarly to Takato.
Tumblr media
I hesitated a bit with Ryoshu so I ended doing both ideas: I kinda cobbled this one together trying to concile her ties to fire (her E.G.O inflict burn, the “cooking” of the Kebab and that one picture of her burning everything using as her steed) and art with Etemon being a singer and Piedmon being a clown (and circus artist in general).  Plus the Dark Master have throwing knives/swords.
Tumblr media
This one was more was more based on her swordplay and the fact she’s ... ok maybe not “honourable” but she’d rather not do it the “coward’s way”, she straight up refused to disguise herself during the casino heist and wanted to face the Shi assassin head on in Canto IV. So Musyamon popped into my mind and then went up the evo line to try and keep the samurai/ronin theme and Kunemon is here because I couldn’t use Kotemon as it doesn’t digivolve into Musyamon.
Tumblr media
Mr Salt got the Andromon line because he’s very robotic at times, a cog in the machine if you will, plus he is a tank of a man so Guardromon fits well. Also I thought it would be funny if somehow the machine Digimon ended up being more prone to make judgements than its human partner.
Tumblr media
I didn’t know where to go with Hong Lu, I tried with the Devas and little more with Lopmon’s line then I saw QueenChessmon and went “Chess is pastime for hoity-toity rich folk and Hong Lu is a rich boy” and went from there. Not really satisfied but it just clicked in the moment. ... If Hong Lu is playing some 5d chess with us I SWEAR TO -
Tumblr media
Another double feature with the other sinner with double seats privilege ... this was completely incidental. This one is based on the brutish side of Heathcliff though Ogremon can be cunning as can our angry british. Titamon is also connected to revenge (specifically against the Olympos XII) so it fits as well. I know Rebellimon doesn’t digivolve to Titamon but fuck it ! I didn’t want Digitamamon on here and that’s the only exception I made, I just wanted to keep mean green demon all the way.
Tumblr media
This one came frame from a flash about Telepole Heathcliff and since He’s a bastard I couldn’t him give a regular Gabumon.
Tumblr media
I just had to give Fishmael a Whamon because of Moby Dick. As for the rest: I picked Gomamon because I thought it’d be funny to have a laid back partner with how rigid she can be; Dolphmon to transition between Gomamon and Whamon and Plesiomon because it’s a traditional Mega for Gomamon alongside Vikemon.
Tumblr media
I must admit being stumped and just going “Waifumon go !”. Might revisit her with a more fitting line sometime.
Tumblr media
For Sinclair at first I wanted to give him an avian line then stumbled upon Tsukaimon digivolving into Pidmon and went “time to go the angel route” as a spin on Patamon. Outside of MagnaAngemon (and Angewomon for that matter) I tried not to use Adventure/02 digimon. I picked Dominimon but hesitated between it, ClavisAngemon and SlashAngemon.
Tumblr media
For Outism I first wanted to have an Olympos XII member then wondered whether or not there was a trojan horse digimon, Lo and behold there was ! As for the rest I worked my way down : Cherrymon being a duplicitous tree (he tried to manipulate Yamato during the Dark Master arc) fit Outis being suspicious, kiwimon is kind of a filler pick and Alraumon is a fake Palmon.
Tumblr media
Finally for Gregor I picked the Wormmon line though with some changes. I chose Snimon instead of Stingmon to harken to G Corp Gregor and while there’s a roachmon I felt it was too on the nose. As for Bloomlordmon I hesitated with going with GranKuwagamon or HeraclesKabuterimon but leaned more on this one mainly to distance a bit from bugs since Gregor has two plant based E.G.O.
That should be it for now.

i quick run down on mi-sun before i head over to mobile for the night BUT ♡
she's an m1 artist as well & a victim of jiwoon ....
prior to her death , she was in a girl group with fellow idol lee nari ( @wolfsing ) ; she was also very close friends with both cindy moon ( @idolshe ) & na minjun ( @idolpyre ) , whom later included her as a featured artist on his album .
in her final moments before being taken , the entity felt her rage & need for vengeance ( very spirit-esque) & made her a deal : i'll give you the man who stole everything from you if you kill for me , to which mi-sun agreed happily .
in the idol world & as a killer she was known as the green fairy , but both were for heavily differing reasons . prior to the fog , this nickname was given to her in reference to her whimsical spirit & love of fairytales/magical aesthetics as well as her love of nature & garden/flower motifs in her stage outfits/regular attire/& more . in the realm however , it is inspired by the nickname for absinthe ( also the inspiration for her url ) , the green fairy , given said name for it's tendency to cause psychosis & psychedelic episodes ; it's incredibly deadly & toxic , yet it's name misleads you to think it's rather safe & unassuming .
her main ability is hallucinations & spurts of flight .... the hallucinations can cause the affected survivor(s) to see fellow survivors as the killer until the hallucinations wear off ... not sure how she would cause the hallucinations yet ... ( power idea/concept heavily influenced by this gif set )
she possesses green , tattered fairy wings upon her back that are rather large which she can use for momentary bursts of flight to scan the map for survivors before using her secondary attack/ability connected to her weapon .
she uses a combat cross as a weapon ( see here ) ... she throws the sharp end of the chain mid-flight & spears you death slinger style ; you have the chance to wiggle free of the chain as she drops to the ground as long as she isn't too close to you . if not , & she hits you , you go into the dying state .
as for her ability , it works similarly to that of the doctors hallucinations . she has a marked radius of ground affected by her powers that once you get within the radius of , will cause varying levels of hallucinations the closer you get to her . her base terror radius then would probably be 24 meters with the base movement speed of 4.3 m/s ( one point slower than the regular base movement speed with that terror radius ) when grounded , & when in flight it gets bumped to 34 meters whilst her movement speed is boosted too 4.6 m/s . i'll flesh out the effects of the hallucinations in stages one & two in the morning , BUT by stage three/once you're on top of her in game , the survivors affected will no longer see each other as their chosen character but instead as mi-sun herself . the effects wear off the farther away from her you get .
the longer she spends in the realm , the more & more unhinged mi-sun begins to become . she enjoys her kills more & more over time , thinking of it all as a game , preparing her to kill the man who stole her life & those of so many others . very himiko toga vibes ( if you know , you know . )

re; jamie’s shifting preferences, maintaining form, & learning control
generally speaking jamie is quite happy with himself as he is ! which is significant because if he didn't like himself while being a shapeshifter it could get him SERIOUS body dysmorphia issues. so he likes to do things as if they're accessories. in general he cares more about his general vibe so he's more likely to change smaller things. like give himself freckles on a given day or change his hair colour/texture instead of messing with larger parts of his body like gender presentation or looking like a new person entirely.
usually when he looks like a totally different person its because he feels like being anonymous or bc he wants to pull a ( harmless ) prank on someone. especially in his mainverse where he’s a relatively popular twitch streamer/tik toker which means he’s occasionally recognised in public. the only other major change that happens with any regularity is if he is feeling esp fem/like a girl. but even then its more just like a slightly altered version of himself with more feminine features bc he really does like how he looks ! ( reminder that jamie, while generally he prefers to present masc & defaults to he/him pronouns, is still genderfluid & thus his gender presentation is not a constant ).
as a side note i feel like even if he'd been afab he'd probably still have the same general vibe? maybe present masc slightly more than he'd normally present fem in his current canon but still just feels most comfortable in his natural form so to speak because it requires no effort & feels more comfortable mentally.
keeping a form ( partial or full ) is something he has to consciously decide to do, so it can be super draining to think about being a certain way all the time. the hair or freckle or eye colour change type things is something he's so used to that it doesn't require the same amount of effort. similarly with hiding zits as desired, its all more so something just in the back of his mind that he’s not actively thinking about but is still there. understandably, larger changes require more focus. the longer he keeps an altered form the more physically tired he can get as well. he's not going to suddenly start changing back without his intent to do so though since the odds of him letting it get to that point are so incredibly miniscule. he does tend to eat a lot too bc shapeshifting in general uses a lot of energy which can make it difficult for him to gain weight be it fat or muscle. this especially was a big struggle for him when he started boxing & had to put on more muscle in order to fight well enough.
jamie's adhd is actually a huge part why he's so good at being able to keep shifting in mind while doing things. that being said if he REALLY needs to focus on things like when he's doing school work, he'd 100% just go back to his base form to make it as easy as possible & just take his meds
for a bit of context, jamie’s mother comes from an extremely old & very powerful coven in korea. & hannah, like her mother, became a witch who started displaying powers around kindergarten age & then later in middle school she developed her abilities as a medium. meanwhile jamie become a shapeshifter was such a rare phenomenon that no one really could have expected things to turn out the way they had
there was only one example of a shapeshifter in their ancestry & it was so long ago that there wasn't really anyone left alive to talk about it & the records their coven kept were pretty minimal, most likely having been lost over the centuries
so while hannah had lessons to learn control over her magic, jamie had to have his own lessons about how being a shapeshifter was rare & important & he had to be careful not to overdo it or use it to harm people etc. but realistically it was more like basic etiquette on how to be a good person & then supervising him while he learned to control it himself. but that part was unfortunately something he more had to figure out on his own.
how he shifts is sort of strange too ! so how he started initially he learned how to shift isolated parts of his body ( such as suddenly giving himself long hair or giving himself lil claws on his hands ). which gave him significant control in his technique — although it took a while to master keeping said form.
then when it came to mimicking other people or animals it was far more difficult. normally shapeshifters have either a set thing they change back & forth from ( ie. human to animal to human again as a one time switch one way or another where they stay like that until making a decision to switch back ), OR they are able to copy something or someone they’ve seen.
if jamie had learned to do this first its possible he’d be able to do it far easier than he does now, but because he learned isolation first he finds it easiest to copy a form if he understands the basic anatomy. ie. he understands the make up of people because he understands his own body so well, but if he tried to turn into a bird without remembering that a bird's main limb bones are hollow, it might pose an issue if he tries to fly. as he gets older he slowly learns this form of shifting as well, being able to copy something he’s seen without understanding how their body words, but its sort of slow since there’s only so many species of animal he’d even want to TRY turning into.
frankly he’d be able to do a lot more if he put in the time, but he’s not in a position where he needs to use his abilities to fight like he’s some sort of super hero & he’s able to do all the things he currently cares about doing so he can’t be bothered to learn to do more.
there are other ability related things he has not learned either how to control/make use of them, but that’s a post for another day. for a very basic breakdown of his other powers its listed in his dossier over here or there’s a post over here with a bit more detail.

Here are those drawings I’ve been working on: humanizations of SS Andrea Doria and MV Astoria (formerly MS Stockholm)!
This time, I already had all their design notes in one place, so they were easier to wrangle. Here they are!
Design Notes - Andrea Doria:
The bodice of her dress is based on her hull, which had a white stripe around it. Similarly, her skirt represents her funnel livery, and the neckline of the dress is cut to resemble her bow. The pearl necklace is also meant to resemble her white hull stripe, but it’s not as on-the-nose about it.
I based her facial features on Italian actress Matilda De Angelis. The resemblance isn’t as close as originally intended, but that’s okay, because she turned out beautiful anyway.
She’s holding a glass of red wine while wearing easily-stainable clothes; this is supposed to be a nod to one of her most significant character traits: her poor decision-making skills.
The look on her face was originally supposed to be a friendly half-smile, but it came out looking more like she’s smiling but she’s also just realizing she made a mistake, like leaving the oven on or something. That expression fits her better, so I left it like that.
If you look closely, she has freckles on her shoulders and neck.
Considering that she’s red/green colorblind, she probably can’t see the red and green on her dress very well. I wonder what they look like to her?
Design Notes - Astoria:
I designed her outfit after looking at dozens of pictures of fashion influencers on vacation. Originally I could only imagine her wearing a silver velveteen tracksuit, like a rich soccer mom or something, but that didn’t really fit her vibe or her history.
Her face is meant to look like she’s had a lot of plastic surgery; this is most evident in her full lips and narrow nose.
I originally planned for her to have white hair dye over her natural blonde hair, but I ended up just going with the blonde instead.
The print on her shirt is based on the windows on her forward superstructure. Similarly, the yellow rectangles on her pants are inspired by her large stern windows.
She has a whole bunch of lamps on her stern. I based her earrings off said lamps, because I like them a lot.
She’s holding an MS Stockholm postcard. You can’t see the actual picture, but it’s this - I explicitly intended for it to be the same postcard I have as the crown jewel of my collection in real life.
Her tattoo is meant to resemble dark clouds of fog; this is symbolic of the fact that no matter how hard she tries, she’ll never truly escape her past.

Top 5 Characteristics Of An Ideal Classroom Culture
Modern classrooms can no longer be places where students sit in perfect alignment, with their books and notebooks open, and listen to the teacher standing on the podium and reading out notes that he/she prepared years ago. This conventional picture has thankfully changed. The ideal classroom culture now is diverse.
Tumblr media
There are more spaces for new ideas and the best schools in Gurgaon actually apply scientifically proven learning methods in their classrooms. The ideal classroom culture is not unidirectional. It is disciplined and efficient. Following are the 5 features of an ideal classroom culture that typically exist in good schools that not only drive student performance but also help to complete their education.
Direct Lecture Method Is Only A Part Of The Entire Session
An ideal classroom will not entirely abolish the traditional direct lecture method where the teacher acts as the source of information and students absorb them without question. It has its own advantages as there are some areas where the children will need the educator to present all the available information. But this will only form a part of the entire learning process.
The classroom will also give the students their deserved freedom to raise questions, discuss perspectives, maybe teach the room, and even decide the day’s proceedings. In an ideal way, education will be bidirectional where control will rest equally on both the teachers and students.
Everyone Clearly Understands The Rules And Regulations
Education cannot progress in a chaotic environment. Students cannot learn if they are too busy contemplating the right way of doing things. This is where an ideal classroom culture will establish a clear set of rules and regulations from the very beginning which everyone is bound to follow equally.
Simple aspects like raising one’s hand to attract the attention of the teacher or refraining from discussing something with a peer when someone else is talking works to maintain a peaceful ambiance within the classroom’s boundary. The ideal classroom culture dictates that every member of the classroom must show mutual respect. That is what leads to harmony.
Thorough Assessments And Constructive Feedback
The best Schools in Gurugram will maintain a bidirectional nature on the grounds of assessments and feedback as well. Typically, these terms are associated with the definitions where the teacher assesses the students based on their academic performance, pinpoint their strengths and weaknesses, and offer grades and remarks as feedback. But the ideal classroom culture will also allow the students to evaluate their teachers.
Here, the educators regularly take feedback from the children to evaluate their understanding level and modify the teaching methodology hinged on that. This way, the feedback is constructive and receptive. No one feels singled out.
There Is Space For All Type Of Learners
An ideal classroom culture at the best schools in Gurgaon does not merely move forward with a progressive mindset. The vibe is not performance-oriented and marks are never the only metric. The right culture will take every student along in the road to education, enabling them to learn at their own pace.
To put it simply, a struggling student will find the teacher giving frequent attention to him/her during and after the class. A high-achiever will often find himself/herself with curated assignments that challenge his/her growing skills. Similarly, other students with other preferences will find the teacher modifying the lessons to suit their needs where the metric of performance may not be academic at all. In short, an ideal classroom is tolerant of every achievement.
It Is Seldom About All Work And No Play
The perfect classroom culture understands the importance of rest. Even amidst growth and progression, such a classroom makes room for students to breathe, at times. Along with recess, the classroom can have fun activities where the students can either engage in educational or non-educational games and sessions that help to keep the body and mind active in some other way.
Flexibility is also an aspect of this classroom. It can move to the school’s playground, the nearby science center or the language lab, as and when necessary. Ideal classrooms maintain the perfect balance between work and play, where both the teachers and the students can engage in refreshing activities together.
So, when you are out searching for the top Schools in Gurgaon, look for institutions where such a classroom culture exists. And your search might very well end with the Alpine Convent School which is the best school in Gurgaon and where the lessons in the classrooms just in line with the features mentioned here.
The classes in Alpine are modernistic. They are hinged on student-oriented education and practical lessons. The school’s performance and motivation levels are proof of the ambiance that exists in its premises and is right for every growing child. It is time to repaint the age-old classroom culture. Times have changed and lessons should as well.

In May, Andrew Dominik, the director of BlondeNetflix's soon-to-be-released Marilyn Monroe biopic, predicted the film would "offend everyone." A few months later, he has been proven right. The movie isn't out yet (it's scheduled to be on Netflix on September 28), but the trailer, which features the star of No Time to Die Y Knives OutAna de Armas, as the deceased icon of the screen, has already divided opinion. The controversy stems, in part, from the fact that Blonde is the first film produced by Netflix to earn the rarely awarded US NC-17 rating, the US equivalent of an 18+ rating, for its sexual content. Some fans are concerned that the film could be exploitative. Here's a rundown of what people have said about the project, from high praise to strong criticism... Director of BlondeAndrew Dominick When talking about how Blonde Originally scheduled for a 2020 release but delayed due to the pandemic, Dominik said, “It's an interesting time for 'Blonde' to come out. If it had been released a few years ago, it would have come out right when the MeToo movement came and it would have been an expression of all that. “I think we're at a point now where people aren't sure where the boundaries are. It's a movie that definitely has a morality about it. But swim in very ambiguous waters because I don't think it's as simple as people want to see it." “There is something in this that offends everyone.” He has also been quoted as commenting, “If the audience doesn't like it, that's the audience's damn problem. [La película] he is not running for public office.” Adrien Brody (who plays Arthur Miller, the revered playwright and Monroe's husband) in the film, similarly predicted that there would be "some controversy" surrounding the film's release. Ana de Armas in 'Blonde' (Netflix) The author of BlondeJoyce Carol Oates The film is an adaptation of a 2000 biographical fiction novel written by Oates. In July, after seeing the film, Oates seemed to give the film his stamp of approval. “Andrew Dominik is a very brilliant director,” he commented. “I think he managed to show the experience of Norma Jeane Baker [nombre real de Monroe] from his perspective, instead of seeing it from the outside, the male gaze on a woman”. “He immersed himself in his perspective.” trailer viewers In July, when the trailer was released, many fans criticized it. “Contacting Marilyn Monroe through a ouija board to tell her that my opinion on the 'Blonde' trailer is the only way to keep her best in mind,” one person tweeted. Another wrote: “That 'Blonde' trailer gave me 'collage of Marilyn pop culture moments' vibes. It doesn't read like a biography, more like an exploitation movie in disguise." Adrien Brody and Ana de Armas in 'Blonde' (Netflix) Some people also posted comments about De Armas, who is Cuban-Spanish, and her accent in the trailer. “I think Ana de Armas is a fantastic actress and looks great as Marilyn BUT I still hear her accent in the 'Blonde' trailer and I think that takes her out of character,” one tweeted. Marilyn Monroe's estate Marilyn Monroe's estate defended the casting of De Armas. In a statement, the estate said "any actress who takes on that role knows she has big shoes to fill." Marc Rosen, president of entertainment for Authentic Brands Group, owner of the Marilyn Monroe estate, commented, "Marilyn Monroe is a singular Hollywood and pop culture icon that transcends generations and history." “Just based on the trailer, it sounds like Ana was a great casting choice as she captures Marilyn's glamour, humanity and vulnerability. We can't wait to see the full movie!" De Armas reported that it took him nine months to learn to speak like Monroe. He called the process "great torture" and "very exhausting." On whether he was right with the voice, De Armas clarified: “I tried! It only took me nine months of dialect training and practice, and a few ADR sessions [regrabar el diálogo después de filmar]. It was a great torture, very exhausting. My brain was fried."
The producer of BlondeBrad Pitt Pitt, who produced the film through his Plan B production company, spoke out in favor of de Armas. “She is phenomenal in the movie,” he commented. “That is a difficult dress to fill. It was 10 years in the making. It wasn't until we found Ana that we were able to make it to the finish line."

how to name a character: a quick guide.
one of the best--and hardest--parts of making a new character is choosing their name. over the years, i have a few methods i use, so i thought i’d throw together a quick rundown.
first, the obvious: consider whether you want their name to be meaningful in some way. this is a classic, and you can be straightforward, subtle, or ironic. (gloomy goths named sunshine, anyone?)
also consider what names were popular in the year they would’ve been born, or popular names from their culture.
the name someone has often says more about their parents than the character themselves, so consider. maybe the character’s mom is a politician who named her son after abraham lincoln, or maybe their family immigrated from russia, so she gave her daughter a popular russian girls’ name. are the parents the type to do a ton of research before choosing a name, or was it spur-of-the-moment? would they choose something trendy or go out of their way to make sure the name was uncommon? is there a relative or friend they might’ve named their kid after?
similarly, for last names, consider, would their parents have their kid take only one of their names? whose? would they hyphenate it or make one the middle name?
nicknames! does your character use one? did their parents choose a name specifically because it could easily be given a nickname... or specifically because it can’t?
avoid choosing a name that’s irrevocably associated with a popular piece of media, unless their parents are the sort to name their kid after their favorite character. names like “harry” or “claudia” are common and “normal” enough that you’re probably in the clear (unless harry is a wizard or claudia is a vampire), but don’t name a character “hermione” or “lestat” unless their parent is a harry potter or vampire chronicles superfan.
if i’m stuck between a few choices, i’ll often write down a list of first names i like, then list of last names i like, and try out every possible combination until i find one that feels right. process of elimination will take you a very long way.
avoid giving two characters names that sounds too similar, even if they’re relatives. you’re just asking for some confusion.
resources:
nameberry. easily my favorite name website. not only do they have thousands of names from all over the world, they have an amazing advanced search. you can filter names by meaning, origin, number of syllables, and scarcity! they also have a TON of lists of themed names.
magic baby names. this is a cool one! enter some names that you like, and it’ll recommend names that have the same vibe. this is VERY useful for naming siblings. can’t figure out what to name emily’s six younger sisters? pop her name into the generator and see what comes up.
nymbler. their “explore” feature works similarly to magic baby names, but their “choose” feature is essentially tinder for baby names. they show you a name, along with its origin and meaning. you tell them whether you like or dislike it, and it modifies what names it shows you based on your answers. can be a VERY big timesuck if you go down a rabbithole.
random lists. sometimes you just need a big list. their female name generator is here, and their male name generator is here.
fantasy name generator. for all your dnd and supernatural thread needs.
social security. no, seriously. they keep a record of the most common names each year, which can be very handy if you think your character’s parents would’ve chosen something that was popular at the time.
and that’s pretty much it! go forth and name your characters! (and apologies if those resources makes google think you’re pregnant.)

“…Being a damsel was a specific job. It meant that you were a lady in waiting in a house that was not your own. A lot of the time the period of service would kick in around about thirteen when families had educated their daughters to a level that was deemed sufficient. The next step of their education was to get refined and ladified, so they would get shipped to live with another, usually richer and more powerful, family.
Damsels did all sorts of work. They embroidered and helped with cloth production. They made their lady’s bed. They took messages to other rich people if their mistresses didn’t feel like going themselves. In general, they made themselves useful in whatever way was best. In return, they learned how great houses were run, made contacts among the aristocracy, and hopefully made a good impression so that they could secure a marriage with a nice (rich) young man as well.
Anyway the thing about being a damsel, as my patron Max (shout out!) pointed out, is that the main sort of work you did was essentially being an inverse influencer.
This is because the major thing that damsels did was be very conspicuously pretty, well dressed, and hanging out with the woman that they were serving, especially in ceremonial circumstances. Phillips notes, for example, that Dame Katherine Grey and Mistress Ditton served at Elizabeth of York’s (1466-1503) coronation in 1487 by going “under the table where they sat on either side of the Queen’s feet all the dinner time.” Similarly, the Countesses of Oxford and Rivers “kneeled on either side of the Queen, and at certain times held a kerchief before her Grace”.[2]
Now this is an extremely specific (and weird) flex. What Elizabeth was showing was that she was surrounded by hot important chicks at all times. She had so many hot important chicks around her that they just hung out to pass her a napkin when she needed it. Hell, she had hot important chicks sitting under the table where you can’t even see them just because she can. It’s like a late medieval version of a selfie full of Instagram baddies and a caption that says, “Quiet Tuesday in with these idiots, yawn.”
The point of having a bunch of damsels around you was to create a spectacle which highlighted the woman in charge. She looks very feminine and very powerful because she has lots of feminine powerful women surrounding her and serving her. In return, the damsels get to be a part of the spectacle and prove that they are well connected and feminine enough to be used in this manner. It’s a form of display and you, peasant, are meant to be very very impressed by it. So basically, a powerful lady or queen with a large retinue is running a hype house. I will not be apologizing for this analogy, thanks.
This is interesting though, because it acts in a sort of reverse way from how influencers work now. Influencers are, of course, expected to be extremely hot, and usually conspicuously feminine when they are women. When we have to deal with every white girl in the world in a pair of suede boots at a pumpkin patch every autumn they are acting out a specific form of girly-girlness that we are meant to recognise, respect, and respond to.
However, unlike damsels which are meant to make it clear that someone is very important, and indeed much more important than their audience, influencers have to make their audiences feel as though they are actually friends. Yes, they are standing in a million-dollar beach house in a three-hundred-dollar bikini, but maybe you could be there too with them! The only thing preventing you from doing so is buying X product which will make you just like them.
…So the difference is that influencers are attempting to create what we in the analysing society game refer to as “parasocial relationships”. That’s a technical way of saying when you feel like you have a relationship with someone based off of their media output. So, you know like how you feel that you are friends with the people who are on your favourite podcast? That is a parasocial relationship and that is what influencers do. This is in stark contrast with damsels and ladies’ courts who are extremely on a Mean Girls vibe and doing “on Wednesdays we wear pink” in front of an audience who knows that they, decisively, cannot sit with them.
Hilariously in both the medieval and modern contexts, whether the women in question are letting you know you are not friends, are trying to make you think that you are, the pretty ladies doing the display make some people very very sad. Phillips notes that in the fourteenth-century Book of Vices and Virtues it was written that damsels wearing pretty clothes were in mortal danger of their souls, both because they were vain and because they inspired lechery in the dudes who saw them. It reads:
“To behold these ladies and these maidens and damsels arrayed and appareled, that often [time] apparel them more quaintly and gaily for to make [foolish] lookers to look on them and [think] not to do great sin … But certainly they sin well grievously, for they make and be the cause of loss of many souls, and where-through many men are dead and fall into great sin; for men say in old proverbs, ‘Ladies of rich and gay apparel are arrow blast [against] the tower.’ For she has no member on her body that is not a [snare] of the devil, as Solomon says, wherefore they must yield accounts at the day of doom of all the souls that by reason of them are damned.”[3]
In other words, the damsels at court might think there is nothing wrong with being conspicuously hot in public, but in fact, it is very sinful because it creates a sinful society and encourages lust in men. TL/DR: dressing up in public means that you are in league with the devil.
…This is important to note because both medieval European society and our society now have a clearly very fraught relationship with women displaying themselves in public. The attempt to control gaze both then and now has some very visceral reactions. It can make people feel awe, or build entire relationships in their mind. It can also enrage people to the point that they condemn these women even though, and this is crucial, in neither case were they actually in a relationship with their audiences.
The important thing to take away from all of this is that women being put on display, and using that to wield power, is a very old practice. What has changed over time is the way that display is focused. Medieval people used it to keep others as an outgroup, and people now use it to make outsiders feel as though they are in. Overall, the goal is the same: accruing power, prestige, and respect to the woman who is in control of her image. This often results in backlash but the thing about it is that the world has yet to end because a bunch of hot chicks hung out one time and then someone felt bad about themselves.
Do I think that either iteration of hyper-feminine display is necessarily laudable? Not especially. I am just saying it is a constant feature in our society, and if you want to get rid of it, then we need to rethink our approach to femininity more generally. Until we can offer women more ways to gain prestige, we are gonna keep going back to old reliable: being conventionally attractive. I find it hard to get mad about that.
- Dr. Eleanor Janega, “On damsels and influencers.”
