it's like, i really do enjoy most of the bats as characters and i really do like a lot of their comics. but also i am sooooo tired of them being hailed as better than literally everyone else. both in fanon but also in comics (modern ones are esp egregious imo, like WHAT was that shit about batman and the joker being the most dangerous men on the planet. hi. have you heard of lanterns? speedsters? supers? actually if i keep listing groups who could kick batman's ass we'd be here all day). they're like kudzu. that shit needs to stay in its native environment (funky little neo-noir detective stories) and stop being an invasive species (putting down everyone else to make them seem cooler). put bruce wayne back into a murder mystery setting that isn't about saving the world but is about saving one person or one family that no one else would've saved right now or so help me god. the whole invasive species cross contamination thing is unhealthy for both him And the other ecosystems he keeps getting transplanted into. please. it's so dark in here

#mp answers #i've been trying so hard not to be annoying to my bnha friends but if you will allow me to push this for this ask let me say 🙏#if you're afraid of the episode count for one piece the manga is a lot quicker read while being just as enjoyable because the art style is #an actual delight. its great its fantastic im absolutely in love with it #the series is soooo good and i know luffy can seem unappealing to people before they start but he's just SUCH a great character & continues #to be even now. the story is SO GOOD the characters are SO GOOD... theres so much lore and world building that its insane #if you read the manga we get 'cover stories' on what's going on with previous characters to see what theyre up to even though we moved on #from where we left them. a lot of these cover stories blend into the main story so well its just seamless #there's one where we get introduced to a character we dont see hundreds of episodes into the anime and they show up like; during the second #saga. the series is about traveling to other islands and every single arc has been tied to another in some way or form that shows up later #even if its sagas and sagas later- it still becomes relevant again!! it's a huge ongoing story and there isnt a single arc that feels like #it has no purpose (sans filler in the anime-but even then!! some filler arcs are really entertaining!)#it's emotional! its sad! its downright stupid and silly but GOD... you can feel the love that oda put into this series and his characters #and the emotions in the expressions and the messages the story gives off it just makes me UEUHGHHAHGHH!!!#it's all about the adventure and the romance of it all! its about the freedom it brings and bringing freedom to others!#its a series where treasure should be a focus given its pirates and the its a giant treasure hunt for the one piece and yet! and yet so man #of the characters treasures are things that are not coins and gems but people and promises and family and and #im going to EXPLODE i love one piece

So I went to the wiki page for the henghill Bullet & Brain mission of 2.2 looking for some dialogue I had missed and

a) I found something incredibly tasty that slotted into some other thoughts I'd been having, more on that on another day, and

b) I saw this super fun little trivia at the bottom, which!

I knew Penacony characters like Boothill took a lot of inspirations from old movies, but I didn't realize it was even in his and Dan Heng's relationship, that's so cool!!

It fits them very well, it's such a fun reference. "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" was an old buddy Western film (from 1969- nice) about a pair of outlaws. Butch Cassidy was the leader of a gang, and described as clever, affable, and talkative. Meanwhile, his closest companion, the Sundance Kid, was known as a man of few words.

Cassidy's original birth name was much more plain, but similar to Boothill, he took on a new moniker when he became an outlaw. "Cassidy" had been the last name of his beloved mentor, who taught him how to shoot and ride. And Sundance Kid was known as he was because Sundance was the name of his hometown, and it was the only place that had ever managed to catch and jail him, back when he'd been younger (also similar to Dan Heng, but ouch).

These two stick together like glue throughout the length of the film- through Cassidy's leadership of the gang being challenged, through a train robbery gone wrong, through being pursued by mercenaries, and even through fleeing to Bolivia and trying to start over together.

I don't want to say too much more, since the mission title is referencing one specific movie that I've never seen. I kinda wanna watch it now, though, just to see the inspiration that went into Boothill and Dan Heng and how they get along. I just think it's really sweet that these two were literally made to be the best of bros, how lovely is that. 💕

I love the difference between concept art and shown design sometimes, but ESPECIALLY Final Fantasy's because what happened. Like, take Fusoya for example: (Concept)

Like, I'm losing it. What happened here? Did they not know how to model/sprite his concept design, maybe? Maybe they thought it would be too difficult to show him in battles/overworld/etc, etc. I understand the potential logic behind it, I just also find it to be a really funny change.

I like doomed narratives but my ultimate Wizard101 NPC ending is the Young Wizard living in a nice secluded place with all their friends (all the necromancers, Ceren, Nolan, fuck you Boris you can live outside, Dasein, the Schismist Soldier, Mellori and the Bat) like a little village but they're all roommates and they do things like farming and brewing hot tea on Sundays free from Ambrose and the rest of the damned Spiral

I mean. sometimes my mind did drift to this mention of Zaheer’s sisters #because broken bonds is my absolute favourite LaF chapter. but I ever really thought of them that much since Kat never brought them up agai #and then about 24h ago I randomly remembered them again and was like. hey. p’li and ghazan’s sisters play a huge role in our stories #and ming-hua is an only child. so what of zaheer’s sisters? what are they like? do they ever cross his mind? are they aware of his crimes?#and in the afternoon I went digging through my art supplies bc I felt like painting and found my old 2020-2022 sketchbook with 2 empty page #so I thought. why not. it’s been a while since I’ve done traditional art. so I pulled up a reference of rich EK outfits from the artbooks #and got to work. drew this up in about half an hour? traditional sketching is a lot faster than digital for some reason #then took a picture and cleaned up and coloured in procreate. and I’m really happy with the end result #this was hella fun to do as well so.. win-win?#alright enough backstory rambling. on to the characters themselves #I looked up Zaheer’s name and apparently that particular spelling is urdu in origin. so I went off that #the article I found was written edited and fact checked by three pakistani women so I think it’s about as trustworthy as these things go #summiya means ‘a woman of proper name’ and aiza means ‘respected high place in society’. which I thought were fitting for noble girls #for outfits and hairstyles. like I said. I turned to the avatar artbooks. those things are life savers. I just played around with colours #looks wise I colour picked from zaheer and then shifted around a little so they look similar enough yet not like clones of each other #but they’re also teenagers here so they wouldn’t resemble book 3 Zaheer much anyway #kat never mentioned ages but since their mother was looking for matches I assumed they were older than zaheer #he ran off at 11 or 12 iirc. so I decided they would have been 16 and 14 respectively #though in their community matches are probably made much earlier than actual marrying age. still.#if it was such a pressing matter that their mother was ‘preoccupied’ with it. then they were probably teenagers right #that’s what I’m gonna go for anyway since currently I have no information to disprove any of this #oh yeah Kat btw if you did have images of Zaheer’s sisters in mind before this then you don’t have to replace them. I just filled a blank #we’ve never talked about them so I assume there’s nothing. feel free to correct me. maybe someday we’ll discuss their personalities/lives #all I have is that they probably weren’t too close with zaheer. and their lives now are all about husbands kids and status. but we’ll see #hope you like them anyways <3

Listen I accepted my bisexuality and thus opened up the avenue of m/f shipping but in a queer way. Largely poly and/or bi4bi kinds of ways. But mostly m/f shipping where I actually delve into their emotions and see what really makes them tick.

It was always the shallow m/f shipping that I had a problem with. The "he's a boy and she's a girl, so of course they'd end up together" kind of thing. Given actual proper emotional development with their relationship, though...

Apparently my mom shares trans memes on her facebook, which is… cool I guess? But she also still posts old pictures of me all the time

Working more on the local group of Synchronized Light and hoo boy. There's smth wrong with these guys.

#rat rambles #oc posting #rain posting #theyre mostly a different flavor of messed up than my other guys as theyre all like family drama messed up #these guys are not family except for the obvious two they're just all either the worst or going thru it #oh also the girlfired of my ancient girl is a part of the group and they have a name now theyre twisted orbit 👍#orbit has gotten the pleasure of not just having an upsetting backstory but also an upsetting present due to one of her neighbors #and funnily enough its not synchronized light she basically never interacts with those two #instead its the circles second most fucked up lil guy named putity preserved #he is an absolute ass and has been absolutely obsessed with the idea of being the one to find the tripple affirmative for ages #back when the ancients were around he managed to convince his city's council to allow him to experiment on prisioners and after the mass #ascension he has continued to experiment on the various lifeforms he can get his hands on #for most of the time before the mass ascension orbit wasnt particularly invested in solving the great problem so he didn't pay her much #mind but after a certain incident where she broke down and had her memoried shifted through and selectively romoved he started to pay more #attention to her even though for the first while up until the mass ascension she mostly just seemed hollow #eventually after the mass ascension they seemingly suddenly gained an immense interest in solving the great problem #and that was when purity reached out offering to work with them on the project #at first orbit was unwilling but after the sliver incident they seemed a lot more willing to hear him out #which was perfect news for him because the sliver invident made him Furious and he was desperate for a way to revise history #and thankfully orbit's motivation for solving the great problem was exactly what he had been hoping for.#then theres the other two members of the local group endless grains of sand and deep coated mist who are the old ladies of the group #and theyre like old old they were some of the first iterators constructed and it shows #mist especially as her structure is both much larger than a modern iterator and also way less efficient and with much higher steam output #the quirk of this local group is that they all sorta use the same water that's rotated through them all #sand being located by the ocean and mist being located far away on the peak of a huge mountain being the connecting points of the loop #sand fiters a bunch of the water and sends the excess upwards towards a variety of water resavoirs and also mist #mist then slurps up a shit ton of it and outputs a shit ton of steam which condenses to water and flows downwards through the mountainous #area she's perched atop from #this water then forms a series of rivers and lakes downwards through the other 3 and since they require way less water than her theyre able #to all safely recycle mist's outputted water

Thinking more about Brooklyn and Raymond... Because if they did live in the same universe, it would be SUCH a mess. Especially since I don't think Owynn would want them to know each other at first, given that he doesn't like being called out for his fuck ups- so I'm imagining Ray first finding out that he has a younger sibling once he's like 13 years old and Brooks is already around 8 years old. Not to mention the extreme awkwardness of Eak and Loon trying to talk to each other about the whole thing.

Not to mention that, while Ray does want younger siblings, he always imagined having siblings from Eak- knowing that his absent father had another child he likes more than him would make his abandonment issues way, way worse. He'd grow to like Brooklyn, but I imagine the first time they met he'd be so distressed by the situation he'd go fully nonverbal. Not a great first impression.

Brooks would be more cool about it; ae is much more prone to just going with the flow than thinking things deeply, not to mention ae would still be fairly young and thus too immature to deeply introspect on the situation. And while Owynn is still not a very involved father with Brooklynn either, ae is waaaay more in denial about that than Ray is, seeing him more as a Disney dad than an outright deadbeat. That could probably lead to a sibling fight in the future but!!! Let's not think about that!!!

reading thru old meta posts on qian qiu and there's like, some stuff I agree with sure but there's also a lot I don't lol. w like yan wushi especially. there's a lot of. I think too much conventional-mindedness in approaching yws even from the ppl who did like him as a character. saying he's a difficult character, and is meant to be a difficult character, but then still framing him along more conventional moral frameworks. yet another apartment 'complex'? strange, I find it quite simple moments.

I think it's also a simplification to say that 'sq breaks the rules of yws's world of human nature being inherently corrupt etc'#I think that's a belief that yws holds about human nature but I think he's also like. smarter than to believe in absolutes?#and besides. to say it that way I think frames it as if yws is in denial about sq's existence and nature #I just don't get that sense from him - imo he sees sq as more of a curiosity than a like aberration #he's testing sq's bottom line not necessarily bc he's convinced sq is secretly evil but he because he wants to see what sq's bottom line is #and he wants to know that because sq's nature is so different than his own or those he generally encounters and understands from people #he's squishing sq like a dog with a chew toy not because he wants to destroy it but because he wants to see exactly what kind of noises #he can get out of it and exactly how far he can squish it before it starts being too much #(but also I think bc he sees sq's potential to be on his level and wants to see if that can get teased out)#in a like... bonsai shaping kind of way #yes he's pruning the tree back and sometimes pruning & shaping quite hard #but as with the art of bonsai - it's an interactive dance and like only the tree can add material #and for all that you can prune & shape the tree you will never know exactly what the tree will do #SQ is also like a tree in the sense that like you have to prune to get read of dead growth & also encourage new growth #and SQ goes from that like houseplant side of the meme that's like i'm allergic to tapwater #to flourishing under the adversity and the 'i can eat thru concrete'

I think I may be a very boring person bc everyone I know has really off the wall monstery nightmares and listen. ALL my bad dreams are about anxiety from real world fears. I can IMAGINE a scary monster but I'm not sure I've ever DREAMED one.

My bad dream last night was about confronting two girls outside the supermarket for shouting insults at me and my partner and ending up getting chased with a knife then having to grab a cactus to get inside then bring late for something then getting filmed in a public place by Andrew Tate making tiktoks about the degeneracy of modern women. it was very anxious and painful and in the dream Sam was mad with me for getting us chased and hurt and late.

(but it's ok bc I said "aren't you meant to be in a Romanian prison" and smashed all 3 of Andrew Tate's phones very satisfyingly with no repercussions, and after that Sam cheered up and we had a lovely evening inventing a hipster cafe)

but the thing is this is all my Bad Dreams, like, not the ones with the most fucked up stuff happening but the ones that upset me the most and make me wake up all upscuttled. it's all stuff like I Am In A Car I Cannot Drive and I'm Late For Important Things and I Am On A Long Distance Mode Of Public Transport And I Am Trying To Physically Murder My Sibling and I Am In An Awkward Social Situation.

this has always been the flavour of most of my Distressing Dreams and I worry that this is final proof that I'm cripplingly Sensible.

#my most recent Wake Up In Misery dream before this one was an extended sequence where i was at a party #that my ex was also unexpectedly at #and i was having serious trauma responses but also didn't want to be rude and when i tried to quietly excuse myself #the person having the party made a huge thing about it and about me being super unfair to the ex and how he's a really good guy #distressing? yes. interesting? no. THAT'S JUST A THING THAT HAPPENS SOMETIMES.#like BRAIN. LEARN ABOUT METAPHORS.#dreams are meant to be METAPHORS for the anxieties you have not just STRAIGHT UP THE THING YOU'RE ANXIOUS ABOUT #i do have a special second kind of nightmare which is a lot weirder and is called Something Is Outside #I've only had 2.5 versions of this dream i remember vividly though #and one was the scariest fucking thing in my life but it was also. INCREDIBLY NORMAL?#i was sleeping on my friends sofa both in real and in the dream and in my dream i woke up and the was a girl in a red t-shirt outside #and i KNEW she wanted to get in. and in the dream i remembered having seen her earlier in the day outside my friend's mum's window #and she was just a normal person but for some reason i was absolutely TERRIFIED of her seeing me or coming inside #woke myself up so freaked out i couldn't sleep all night #and then there was the one where i was in a house that became underwater and a giant kitten with searchlight eyes was outside.#that one WAS very weird but unusually so #red said
