I’m wondering now about the idea of Megatron’s backstory essentially having the Senator Shockwave treatment. By which I mean, his fall to evil is instead something caused by someone else tampering with his mind and personality, presumably against his own will

Or I suppose the g1 Constructicon backstory also works as a similar analogy (specifically the brainwashed version of the story)

Like sure it kind of rids him of his agency in the matter, but like it would add an element of tragedy. Especially if like Shockwave, Orion/Optimus was a close friend of the old Megatron. Instead of watching his friend slowly descend into evil, his friend is taken away from him and replaced with this evil being wearing his frame. And maybe in this scenario, the reason why Optimus is hesitant to just kill Megatron is because he hopes some part of his old friend can still be saved, whether through him fighting the reprogramming or finding a cure for him

I just thought it was a neat idea, an angsty one too

#maybe I should have just stuck to the Constructicon parallel because tbh I don’t know how the Shockwave thing works #and like Optimus’ reaction to his friend changing and his feelings on current Shockwave #but the idea in my head was framed as “what if Megatron got the Senator Shockwave treatment?” so that’s what I put #it was also explained better in my head I feel like I didn’t go into enough detail here about the potential of the idea #but I think it has plenty #like imagine if D-16 got kidnapped or whatever and Orion staged a rescue to save him #but when he finds him he’s been reprogrammed and Orion doesn’t know what’s gotten into his friend #you could also maybe imagine this with TF One them and Sentinel had him reprogrammed bc fighting abilities or whatever #like he’s strong so Sentinel wanted to repurpose D-16 as a new soldier for him #that would make it even worse #but also also it lets me see his fall to darkness without him actually being responsible for it #I like to have my cake and eat it too in this regard with my faves #cowardly I know but I’m here for the tragedy and hope that everything can be solved #and things are easier to solve if the guilty party isn’t actually responsible for a good portion of it #anyways I should stop rambling #just consider the idea #transformers #megatron #d 16 #senator shockwave #optimus prime #orion pax #story idea

also I got a lot of thoughts on how eliot having that fight with his dad and then immediately shipping to basic training meant he ended up isolated in a way that made him highly motivated, highly trainable, and also extremely easy to fuck in the head in useful ways. which worked out great for the US military and later on, for moreau.

#maybe he would've gone however long without seeing his dad again after the fight anyways who knows #but 10+ weeks of getting trained into being Part Of A Group with a Specific And Noble Purpose probably didn't help #I think the turnaround from feeling frustrated and stuck and fighting with his dad #to then excelling in an environment where you can succeed and be valued by following a clearly laid-out set of rules #wouldve fostered intense loyalty.#he feels like he's good at this he feels like he's proving his dad wrong he feels like the army's his only family now #which puts him in a dangerous mindset when it comes to what he's willing to do.#then later on increasing disillusionment with the military + a sense of alienation due to moral injury #-> even worse isolation that would've left him extremely vulnerable to moreau.#leverage #eliot spencer

(mostly) infinitely spoiled and his mothers undeniable favorite 😞#the personality switch from pre to post abyss journey is so visible 😪 pre-abyss calix was all adventurous and world curious and naive #just like every child is ofc! he was excited abt everything even if it was shoveling snow w his dad or running errands w his sisters #when he’s 13 he meets pierro 😕 first time he’s let out alone and he meets the man who is inadvertently going to ruin his life #his father was apart of the military and he would always beg him to tell stories of his “adventures” bc to him it was so exciting #he’s 13 and wide eyed but not a complete idiot so when pierro offers to train him he makes up an excuse and runs away #so pierro’s grown ass decides to just terrorize him as a recruitment tactic but calix is literally not budging at all 😭#he actually believes the guy is crazy #so instead of trying to get through to him in a typical kind-manipulative way pierro pulls out an old trick and throws calix into the abyss #unprovoked and without him knowing and little calix who has no battle experience at all stuck in the abyss for an ENTIRE MONTH #he’s 14 and clueless and alone and trapped and cold and has to scavenge on his own which obviously causes sm trauma 💔#but one month didnt actually pass in teyvat so to everyone else he just disappeared for one day and reappeared traumatized out of his mind #and also with a personality change #he isnt immediately super violent but he is visibly closed off and distant #his parents just see it as typical teen angst and his father has to take an extended leave for work #at which point he just gets worse #the once rather cheerful boy who appeared so bright to the world was now experiencing uncontrollable fits of anger #he was reckless and quick to solve any issue with his fists.. suddenly it was like he could not do anything without a growing temper rising #by that point his attitude towards pierro had changed for the worst :( what was formerly annoyance became fear #and since he was 10x more vulnerable pierro basically decided to make a completely unfair bargain with him #pierro is all like ‘your father was in the military wasnt he? join the fatui and you can be just like him!!!’#‘or i’ll make sure you guys go hungry this winter 😊’#(he doesn’t actually say that but he heavily implies it and calix is absolutely terrified)#he feels like he has to listen to everything he says because if not his mother and sisters are at risk 😞#without his dad around he feels its his responsibility to take care of them 💔#so with that little 16 year old calix is recruited into the fatui! dawning the given code name “sage” (from pierro)#and while its terrible 😣 while he hates it and still despises pierro he basically becomes the tsaritsa’s weapon of destruction

#I admit I was confused by the line ‘Imagine growing up in the room you know your parents fucked in’ so I had to go back and check #so it seems that Kid Ignition is stuck in that room except for when Haven is specifically sealed #in order to prevent Etienne from telepathically finding him #and only then can he leave #‘Family time’ is scheduled- but it also be something Heavy just announces #however Kid Ignition can bring people into his room without his dad knowing and having to do anything to make it safe for them to enter #he’s got a skateboard in his room- which he can’t use in there #so he leaves enough to have outside hobbies #it seems that ‘Family time’ can be a big ceremony in which everyone is present for Kid Ignition to leave his room #and something that just happens in the background of everyone else’s lives at Haven when Heavy goes to interact with his son #I really like what this series is doing with the word ‘family’#‘Sure this is /my/ family… but it’s /the/ Family too.’#‘Family isn’t always Family. Etienne’s Family and he threatened to kill everyone at Haven.’#also the premise of the series of all of this incredibly powerful people in tense situations but trying to avoid outright fighting-#with some of them calling each other Family #I’m really interested in Kid Ignition’s psychological state being raised in this way #the first ‘Family time’ we see is such an intensely cult-like ceremony #I imagine being ‘stuck in the fucking bubble’- never having left Haven- would have warped his perspective on non-Atomic people #who he’s never met #he only knows what he’s heard- which is that they oppress Atomics #also Kid Ignition must be woefully unprepared for navigating the delicate conflict between the Super-Powers #with his experience just interacting with people being limited to those in his dad’s cult #I wonder if there will be anything interesting done paralleling his unique mental state with Masumi’s #I think there’s potential there #image comics #the power fantasy #my posts #comic panels

as much as i love the idea of fan kids in media with immortals in it[and i do find peoples fankid ocs generally fun], i don't think Integra would do that even adopted even whatever, at least not intentionally.

I gotta be real, I don't think she'd want to do that to Alucard unless there Really isn't another choice. One would assume he is bound to the bloodline/inheritance line and another heir is kind of just... extending the capacity of this to hurt him for at least another generation.

Unless the powers that be threaten to do something bigger than him otherwise, Integra, who seems to have intentionally picked the under-equipped for the position and non-related Penwood jr to get the organization after her death, her plan here is pretty clear. She wouldn't have a 'real' heir if she can help it because she wants Alucard free of the bond after her, she wants to be the last person with the capacity to take away his autonomy like that.

none of the characters in this show are good people exactly, but I do think she feels a kind of remorse for both her family's past likely uncountable abuse towards him, and personally for perhaps overstepping a boundary or two. because that just Will Happen if you have that kind of 100% control over someone.

Legit, that's why you rarely hear her specify something as an 'order' even when he obviously acts out, only in real key moments/after their back and forth they do for that. I genuinely do not think she likes to use the full extent of the power she has over him, just more so fill that role in his life so he feels... comfortable for a lack of a better word? There is fun powerful and there is 'this is something my father would do to you' and i reckon hard orders are a lot more of the latter

i don't think she'd trust an heir or a potential heir's heir to tell the difference.

partially because i don't know how much she trusts herself to.
