Happy Holidays!  My friend Klaus and I decorated a small Christmas Cottage located at Shoshin Acres Orchard in Sedge, on The Atoll continent. Everyone is welcome to stop by, and sit by the fire for a few moments. There is a drinks cart too!

Atop the Prehistoric Ruins - Veiled Sea
Endless Ocean Luminous, Nintendo Switch
the whole "ancient human ruins inhabited by prehistoric creatures" thing seems to be a fairly common idea, but i wonder who came up with it first? it's such a cool concept wherever it shows up :>

Near the southernmost tip of the transportation rich continent of Heterocera you can find Hinamizawa Shrine, devoted to transport. Since the New Year, the grounds have expanded and now you walk further through a lovely wooded path to the Shrine itself. The shrine maiden Dorothy distributes goshuin to visitors year round. When getting your goshuin, also pick up an omamori to protect yourself from lag!

Rocera
a suffix for nocturnal moths/butterflies.
where the prefix and suffix Lepido-ptera come from the term lepidopters which refers to both butterflies and moths, -rocera comes from Heterocera which specifically refers to the nocturnal branch of lepidoptera

Note
Moths are a group of insects that includes all members of the order Lepidoptera that are not butterflies. They were previously classified as suborder Heterocera, but the group is paraphyletic with respect to butterflies (suborder Rhopalocera) and neither subordinate taxa are used modern classifications. Moths make up the vast majority of the order. There are thought to be approximately 160,000 species of moth, many of which have yet to be described. Most species of moth are nocturnal, but there are also crepuscular and diurnal species. While the butterflies form a monophyletic group, the moths, comprising the rest of the Lepidoptera, do not. Many attempts have been made to group the superfamilies of the Lepidoptera into natural groups, most of which fail because one of the two groups is not monophyletic: Microlepidoptera and Macrolepidoptera, Heterocera and Rhopalocera, Jugatae and Frenatae, Monotrysia and Ditrysia. Although the rules for distinguishing moths from butterflies are not well established, one very good guiding principle is that butterflies have thin antennae and (with the exception of the family Hedylidae) have small balls or clubs at the end of their antennae. Moth antennae are usually feathery with no ball on the end. The divisions are named by this principle: "club-antennae" (Rhopalocera) or "varied-antennae" (Heterocera). Lepidoptera first evolved during the Carboniferous period, but only evolved their characteristic proboscis alongside the rise of angiosperms in the Cretaceous period. Moth larvae, or caterpillars, make cocoons from which they emerge as fully grown moths with wings. Some moth caterpillars dig holes in the ground, where they live until they are ready to turn into adult moths. Why do people think moth's are ugly? they are beautiful. there not like the lazy grandpa/grandma of butterflies? plus butterflies are scary, have u seen those things? I know those wings are a disguise for when they eat me.
Fun fact! Butterflies can actually feast on decaying meat, it's as nutritious for them as flower nectar

I made a new electronic album exploring that eternal question: "what if the pacific northwest was a chain of tropical jungle islands?" Check it out if you're interested and let me know what you think.

There's a new painting [middle one] for the chicken art collection at Shoshin Acres in Sedge, Heterocera.
The painting is by Luther Oh Griffis who has a workshop studio at Xaraz Gallery in Clementina, which is open or opening soon.

There’s a parish fair going on this weekend. Hoping to go on Saturday, since there’s a livestock show going on (specifically swine, sheep, and goats). I will gladly flood you all with animal pictures once I attend.
On another note, I’ve drawn numerous more insects of the Heterocera variety to crave my… moth obsession.

I'm trying to find some time to wander more, and relax. It's not always successful, but I went on a little train ride around a bit of mainland (one of the automatic self drivers that follow the tracks on their own schedule), and hopped off to visit this place, down the mountain.
Tumblr media
~Kitsune Miko Shrine~ is right behind a small town on Heterocera, mainland. No goshuin yet, but perhaps as the word about the Goshuin Project gets around! There is a shrine office here already that could distribute it!

There is also an onsen at the far end, with a ryokan. It's an irregularly shaped parcel that winds around and creates a lot of atmosphere, and I quite liked how well it worked with the neighbors peeking around over the trees and such, especially with this hazy default environment. This general area of mainland has a lot of neat places to discover (including some amusement parks in the vicinity if you want to ride the rides), it's good for a wander.
