— let's say you're working part time as a barista? yeah

— so!! i feel like this is plenty obvious but 90% of my mans nozel's diet is coffee, have you met him 😃

— but to give you guys some backstory, lets backtrack into zel's ✨asshole era✨, he's probably been rude to you if you ever met outside of work — mans had zero tolerance for non nobles, after all

— you ran into him while roaming the marketplace with some friends, he was chasing yami on his silver eagle and was this close to murdering the man while fuegoleon was with them as damage control 😌✨

— and because they're all dumbasses he'd probably bump into you, sending you falling to the ground -- and you think, of course he'd stop and help you pick up everything you'd dropped because of him

— no.

— it probably doesn't help that fuegoleon does stop to help you even though he didn't cause you to fall, so your opinion of nozel is kind of trash

— six month timeskip brought to you by zel's braid, nozel is walking back from a late patrol when he sees your coffee store, and decides to give it a shot after remembering nebra had actually complimented it despite it being run by commoners

— now he walks inside with the biggest resting bitch face (i mean it's his normal face but like. you know what i mean.) and the entire place goes silent

— your coworker pushes you to the front to get nozel's order like the traitor she is, so here you are, trying to smile even though your ass hurts from the memory of last seeing him 💔

— "coffee, black" *drops a bag of gold coins*

— it's so awkwardsjskahahs this dumbass has never ordered anything in his entire life

— you don't tell him it's way too much money, he deserves to get ripped off ❤️

— he tries smiling at a little girl in the line and she starts crying </3

— and you're just like?? how come mans just comes in here with his arrogant ass making kids cry?? so naturally you give him a huge grin and present his cup with a bright "thank you for visiting us!"

— he doesn't think much of it until he gets to headquarters and hands the cup to his secretary, who for some reason can't stop cackling -- he finally checks the name you've written onto the cup

— ✨nose elle✨

— almost throws the cup into the trash but the coffee is too good 😭💔

— ends up at your store again the next morning, and finds the atmosphere is actually quite nice -- finds himself a cozy little table and brings out a book with a fancy lil pen, filling out the pages as he sips from his coffee

— remembers to check the name, and yet again, you've got it so frighteningly wrong

— can't bring himself to actually tell you to fix it because god, your smile is so bright and he lowkey doesn't want to see it dim but pretends as if he doesn't give a shit

— he ends up visiting at least once a week, and each time you butcher his name so much worse he thinks it's an actual talent 😭✨ it's lowkey funny even to him

— once his secretary came with him to see which of the employees doesn't fear death get coffee and he almost cries because y'alls thoughts about each other are way too obvious

zel: why do i come here? oh it's because their smile the coffee is quite nice, obviously

you: that braid may be big but even that can't hide your clownery sir

— oh this one time he's writing when you walk by, mumbling a small, "pardon me," as you touch his cup and it reheats immediately -- he's always been a little curious about you so he asks what your magic is, you tell him depending on its size, you can return an object to a previous state it had -- since his coffee got cold, you could return its state to when he'd just gotten it hot

— there's this couple that always comes into the cafe and sits right beside zel's favourite table, and they always get into fights, exposing each other and he glances at you with the funniest grimace and it makes you cackle each time, you obviously end up asking them to leave -- but when you guys talk he ends up making a snide reference to their argument with the tiniest smirk and you're just like fuckkk he's pretty

— all your coworkers *know* he's writing some shady shit on that book he always pulls out — the bets so far are that it's

— poor guy never actually gets a cup with his actual name -- until the morning after elves' attack on the royal capital

— and he genuinely rubs his eyes because he's so tired and knows you'd never get his name right

— he'd asked his secretary to get his coffee that day, and it's a bit bland, so he actually visits the store to see what was up -- finds out you weren't the one to make it for him and almost throws the cup away with the most disgusting look

— and that's when he remembers oh shit, your magic would be super useful right now -- you explain that you don't have amazing control over it though, and he all but drags you to the silva estate

— tries teaching you a few tips, is actually patient because he knows your getting better would be beneficial for the capital -- and you obviously want to help your home heal so you try your hardest

— when you get a new spell, nozel takes you to one of the most damaged sites in the city -- you manage to 'reverse' a couple of homes at first try and he just looks so proud

— you turn to him in your excitement, mouthing an exhilarated, "did you see that?? that was me!" and he just about falls in love, nodding with the hints of a smile tugging at his lips 😭💞

— you witness him almost kill yami pt. 2 when he asks you to join the black bulls

— tries to say "my pupil will not be joining a bunch of uncouth delinquents", but then realises mid sentence you might not like to be called his pupil and tries to fix it to (y/n) -- ends up saying "my (y/n)"

— mereoleona and dorothy are snickering in the background

— and you're trying to diffuse the awkwardness, "ah-- uhm, don't worry about it, lord nozel"

— so yami being yami goes, "heh, so you're fine with being braids' (y/n)?"

— why would you leave it to nozel just kill him yourself 😭

— when things settle down a bit, he's at the café almost everyday

— it's crazy because everyone can see he's whipped except for you two -- it's not as if he's subtle when you're the only he actually talks to normally, not minding keeping up as long of a conversation as you'd allow

— and to be fair, he doesn't know what's going on himself, all he knows is that he absolutely loves your eyes -- thinks that the way they crinkle slightly when you grin at him is how they should always be, smiling, happy, at peace -- and the flutters in his stomach when you wiggle your eyebrows and ask, "the usual, yeah?" are entirely welcomed because they allow a small smile of his own that always makes yours widen

— he's scared the living shit out of his siblings too -- he'd asked what you recommended and in a terrible joke you'd gotten him the most colourful, sweetest flavour -- he'd actually been trying to drink it when the three of them entered, utterly shook at the sight of you laughing, telling him he doesn't have to finish it as he sighs in relief

— he scares himself sometimes too, the way he can't seem to look away from you as you put together his everyday drink humming a little tune he doesn't recognise; admiring even the sunlight when it frames your face, highlighting the details of your pupils and your little sound effects as you work through the machines

— when he finally figures out what's going on, it isn't a surprise -- sure, he'd never imagined himself falling for someone as unlike him as you, or falling in love at all for that matter -- but it is what is, because the way these past weeks have been going it would've been unrealistic of him to not be falling for you; it only really becomes clear the day he insists on teaching you the correct spelling to his name -- you give him a funny look, a look that makes his chest clench strangely, before mumbling out a short, "no." he hadn't understood what that was about, not until your coworkers began teasing you for the heat in your cheeks on his way out

— near the end of the month, nozel enters the cafe to find you seated on a stool, your lips jutted out in a pout -- you're quick to include him in the conversation you're in, and he surmises it's the live stage play adaptation of that book you love you're so disappointed in, hoping that the musical version in a few days would be better -- when your eyes widen in barely concealed excitement

— "we should watch it together! i mean—" you clear your throat, "ah, 's fine if you don't want to obviously, but i just realised i always talk about the series with you and we didn't even watch the play together either, did we? you're depriving me of my daily nozel dose with those missions of yours already,"

— he's sure the pink dusting his cheeks is obvious, but you don't mention it as he tells you he's never been to a musical -- which is true, though it'd be more accurate to say they've simply never caught his fancy

— this one, though -- nozel thinks he can certainly enjoy this one
