Hell Dogs: In the House of Bamboo (Netflix, 2022)
I look at this man and I have to stop myself from screaming. Partially because well, I've never wished so bad for a character like him to get the happy ending.
The desperation. His ideal. The very cycle that chose him, ended- but not in the way he hoped.

a quick look back at january 2024
This year, I've decided to start keeping record of what matches I watch/what my reactions to them are, something that I'd done previously but had dropped for 2023. I'm trying out using a spreadsheet instead of a purely text document for this one. Beyond being much more pleasant for me to scroll through, this has the added benefit of letting me crunch numbers. While I don't think a lot of the nitty-gritty statistics will be of interest to anyone but myself, I thought it might be fun to do some kind of end-of-the-month write-up. Maybe I'll do one for each month, who's to say.
Anyway!
BROAD NUMBERS I ended up watching 64 matches this month, 50 of which took place this month. A large portion of those were from ittenyon week. I was kind of worn out after that and had other things I wanted to focus on, so I haven't been keeping up with anything consistently other than DDT, which made up a third of what I viewed this month. This will probably continue into the future; I have some backwatching plans. Tied for second place are NOAH and Dragongate, which also tracks. I really need to catch up on NOAH, I've barely seen anything from it since The New Year. I've also been pretty hit-or-miss with Dragongate, but I've really been enjoying getting more into it. It's fun! There are plots going on that I'm kind of invested in! Shun Skywalker is there, being the most normal man who's ever lived! Good times.
MOST APPEARANCES THROUGHOUT THE MONTH In terms of "matches that I watched this month," Danshoku Dieno and HARASHIMA tied for first place with five appearances each; for "matches that took place this month," Dieno and Hideki Okatani tied with four. As he made it to first place in both categories, that makes Danshoku Dieno the inaugural Spreadsheet Champ!
Tumblr media
I think this is going to be one of the more interesting things to keep track of throughout the year- based on the metrics for this month, I'm going to guess that it's going to bias heavily towards people who appear often in undercard multi-mans.
MATCHES THIS MONTH I don't consider myself much of a writer nor someone with taste, so this isn't a "best of the month" list or a collection of thought-out analysis. I'm just going back through the month's viewing and picking a few things to chat about.
ULKA SASAKI VS TAKASHI SUGIURA (NOAH, JAN 1st) Spent the entire match being wildly jealous of Ulka Sasaki's hair. I have actual thoughts about the match itself—I thought it was a pretty solid showing considering it was Sasaki's first singles match and I'm definitely interested in seeing how he grows from here—but my most substantial takeaway was "Maybe I should dip-dye my hair."
KENOH VS MANABU SOYA (NOAH, JAN 1st) I've tried typing something up about this multiple times, but I feel I can't articulate my feelings properly. I'm just going to leave it at "go watch Kenoh vs Soya." Amazing performance from them both.
KAZUCHIKA OKADA VS BRYAN DANIELSON (NJPW, JAN 4th) Worked for me in all of the ways their first singles encounter didn't.
SHINGO TAKAGI VS MASAAKI MOCHIZUKI (DRAGONGATE, JAN 10th)
LUIS MANTE VS JACKY"FUNKY"KAMEI (DRAGONGATE, JAN 11th) Mante apologizing to the audience for the violence he's inflicting on Kamei and not to Kamei himself…fascinating.
HARASHIMA VS TORU OWASHI VS KAZUKI HIRATA (DDT, JAN 14th)
MAO VS BRYAN KEITH (DDT, JAN 21st)
I'm sure that Okatani vs Sakaguchi will also make this list, but I missed seeing it live and have been saving it for when I can really sit down with it. Maybe I'll watch it tonight. Additionally, while I've limited the formal list to matches that took place this January, I'd also like to recommend Tanahashi's two appearances in DDT. Very fun, very interesting to see how strongly the audience reacts to asshole heel Tanahashi.
That's it from me for now. If there are any matches you particularly enjoyed this January, let me know! I love hearing about what stuck with people. See you next month!

Gen 8 - Part 9
Glimmerbrook (The WhiteTree Coven)
WhiteTree Coven
While the Coven had existed for many generations past this one, it was time for it to be recognized as a royal power over its dominion, while continuing its sacred practice of magic and protection. Glimmerbrook welcomes all occult, and most anyone is free to join the coven, save that they are a natural Earth occult. However, they have mostly kept their influcence and opinions out of world affairs. But they can no longer. Many good spellcasters were instrumental in taking down the Mother Plant in the First Invasion of Gen 8, and had been asked to continue to help with the fights to come.
With the High Witch Rhomari just married to her true love after surviving the first round of fighting, she’s hesitant. But perhaps her new family is all the more reason to fight when the next Invasion hits.

Glimmerbrook Life
Life in Glimmerbrook is peaceful and magical, as one would imagine. The coven thrives and new generations look foreword to being part of their magical world when they grow.
However, within the coven stirs a very dark power. Imari Xesuvixes, known in her circle as the Allblood, has finally finished her experimentations on other occults, making them a part of herself. As a being with all occult powers and abilities, she’s now biding her time until she can reveal herself and begin her true master plan: eradicate all royalty on the planet!

City life is the best life for those needing to get noticed or be closer to their business empires. They have also been great places to raise families. Not long after the Final Battle of Gen 6, the divided city scape has been peaceful and accommodating to all since.

Parade of Nations - Lithuania
French: Lituanie // English: Lithuania // Japanese: リトアニア (Ritoania)
Lithuania formed its National Olympic Committee in 1924 and participated in its first Olympics as a country at the 1924 Paris Summer Olympics. They haven’t hosted any Olympic Games, but they’ve participated in 9 Summer Games and 9 Winter Games. The Olympic sports in which Lithuania has medaled are Athletics, Basketball, Boxing, Canoeing, Cycling, Modern Pentathlon, Rowing, Sailing, Shooting, Swimming, Weightlifting, and Wrestling.
Kimono Maker: Hideki Okada, Somedokoro Okada/ 染処おかだ 岡田 秀樹
“Chiune Sugihara saved more than 6,000 people by issuing a large number of visas to refugees fleeing the persecution of Nazi Germany, contrary to the instructions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He portrayed his office and nation in the reified world heritage site of St. Peter and Paul's Church, expressing the history of Lithuania.”[1]
Obi Maker: Tatsumura Textile Co., Ltd./ 龍村美術織物
“The motif is the "Rue flower", which is the national flower of the Republic of Lithuania. While valuing the beauty of symmetry, we agreed to express the flower of the common rue like a "brooch", and while being aware of the Christian cross, we made it a jewelry-like pattern.” [1]

Suzuki, Nagata, Kojima, Tsuji at Takayamania Empire 2 8/26/2019; Superstar Talents Announced for Fighting Spirit Unleashed ; RIP Tazuko Tada
Tumblr media
NJPW’s founder and former owner, Antonio Inoki, tweeted out late Monday (early Tuesday morning in Japan) that his wife Tazuko Tada had passed away. I don’t know much about Tada; I think she may have been a photographer, if I read Inoki’s tweet correctly. The pic above is the two of them in 2001, swiped from Tokyo Sports. The two had been married since 2017. The Inoki family is requesting privacy, of course. We here offer our sincerest condolences to the entire family in this time.
Tumblr media
This past Monday at Tokyo Korakuen Hall, Takayamania Empire 2 was held, in tribute to, and as a benefit for, the fallen Yoshihiro Takayama, paralysed from the neck down following an injury suffered in a match in DDT in 2017. Minoru Suzuki has been one of the prime drivers of this event, close as he is to Takayama, and indeed he featured in the main event, teaming with his namesake Hideki Suzuki in a 30-minute time-limit-draw against the legendary Masato Tanaka and Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Naomichi Marufuji. I saw some pics from this match, with Marufuji chopping the ever-living bejeezus out of Suzuki; Kenta Kobashi even got a shot in at one point.
Suzuki was not the only NJPW wrestler to take part in this, however. Yuji Nagata, Satoshi Kojima and Young Lion Yota Tsuji were also part of this show, in a match mixing talents from NJPW and Pro Wrestling ZERO-1, as Nagata & Tsuji teamed with Shinjiro Otani against Kojima, Tatsuhito Takaiwa & Shoki Kitamura. Nagata would get the win with a Backdrop Hold on Kitamura.
But there were loads of other talents there as well, in addition to a special video message from Takayama himself. Daisuke Sekimoto, four of the top women from Sendai Girls (Meiko Satomura, Chihiro Hashimoto, Hiroyo Matsumoto, DASH Chisako), talents from DDT, NOAH, Dragon Gate... basically, if you can see this, do so. Videos are already starting to circulate on the internet, so you should be able to find something. It will be worth your while.
Tumblr media
NJPW have announced a bevy of talents for the Fighting Spirit Unleashed tour of the East Coast in late September. Certainly bigger names than those who were on the New Beginning USA shows in February (and yes, we all know why that was). This is seems to be essentially a Make-Good for that tour, and with the tickets already moving pretty well, why the Hell not? (New York and Philadelphia are sold out; Lowell, MA, still has tickets available)
The listed talents are: Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kota Ibushi, Kazuchika Okada, HIrooki Goto, Tomohiro Ishii, YOSHI-HASHI, Tetsuya Naito, EVIL, SANADA, Shingo Takagi, BUSHI, Jay White, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa & KENTA. More should be announced soon enough, but this is a good sampling. It should be noted that NJPW is saying that Okada will not be at the tour-ender in Philly at the 2300 Arena (the old ECW Arena, of course). No reasons have been given for his absence at that show.
The tour starts on 9/27/2019 in Lowell.

Feature: Mainstream Manga List
Saint Roland from the defunct Hentai Femdom Forum used to maintain a list of mainstream (not age-restricted) manga with femdom appeal. Since his list is gone along with the forums, I thought I’d take a stab at recreating a list of my own.
This list is far from complete, largely because I’m working from my own personal experiences. As of 2018/6/26, I added a handful of content indicator tags in brackets, choosing not to tag content that usually applies by default like “comedy” and “untranslated”.
Borderline Explicit
Tumblr media
"Borderline explicit" refers to manga deriving their appeal from lewd depictions of femdom. They're so risque that they could've just tweaked the art a little and published them in an adult magazine. But of course, they usually have more of a semblance of a plot and romance than age-restricted femdom manga.
With a title like Sundome, it's evident from the story's depth that you're reading a mainstream manga. With a title like Josou Shijo, the only real difference between it and an adult manga is that genitalia are strategically out of view or blank/undrawn.

  Thematic
Tumblr media
"Thematic" refers to manga whose story elements convey a femdom dynamic. It's not explicitly sexual, but it's pervasive. Sometimes the subject of BDSM is directly touched upon, other times it isn't.
Mato Seihei no Slave by Takahiro and Takemura Youhei [Translated (Caught Up), High School Characters, Fantasy]
Kawaii Ore-sama by Amano Maron [Translated, Oneshot, High School Characters]
Satanic Sweet by Yamashita Tomoko [Translated, Oneshot, Female Student x Male Teacher, Serious]

Seikon no Qwaser by Yoshino Hiryoku and Satou Kenetsu [Translated, Adapted to Anime, Young Female x High School Female]
Subtle Thematic
Tumblr media
Thematic manga where the femdom dynamic is more vague or impermanent. Covers situations like "lots of women who are powerful or assertive, and a male lead who's depicted as unassertive or weak" or "a master-servant relationship between the female and male lead, where she's often the assertive one and tells him what to do".
I wanted to make a distinction between manga like these and manga like Satanic Sweet where it's clear the author was thinking about femdom when she wrote it. However, I admit that's subjective, so I apologize if anything in this category looks like it belongs more in the above list.
In any case, these are manga that may tickle the fancy of readers who like femdom.
Zero no Tsukaima by Yamaguchi Noboru and Mochizuki Nana [Translated, Originally a Light Novel, Adapted to Anime, High School Characters, Fantasy]
Seitokai Yakuindomo by Ujiie Tozen [Translated, Adapted to Anime, High School Characters]
Girls of the Wild's (Manhwa) by Hun and Zhena [Translated, Manhwa, Full Color, High School Characters]
Claymore by Yagi Norihiro [Translated, Adapted to Anime, Young-Adult Female x Younger Male, Fantasy]
Nazo no Kanojo X by Ueshiba Riichi [Translated, Adapted to Anime, High School Characters]
Jigokuren - Love in the Hell by Suzumaru Reiji [Translated, Fantasy]
Kawaii dake ja Nai Shikimori-san by Maki Keigo [Translated (Caught Up), Adapted to (Upcoming) Anime, High School Characters]
Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu by Sakurai Norio [Translated (Caught Up), Middle School Characters]
Gag Treatment
Tumblr media
When the femdom is a recurring gag, and such comic exchanges are a centerpiece of the plot or premise.
Domina no Do by Zappa Go and Meguro Sankichi [Translated, Various Females x High School Male]
MM! by Matsuno Akinari and Hyouju Issei [Partially Translated, Originally a Light Novel, Adapted to Anime, High School Characters]
