Hacker’s real motivation

- This is 100% speculation and me attempting to add depth to a kids show villain with the only motivation of ‘gimme power cuz I’m evil nom nom nom’.

- As mentioned, I must add a touch of realism to most anything I do so I’m going to talk about Hacker’s quest for power. Where should I start? Yes, his original purpose.

- It’s mentioned that Dr.Marbles created Hacker as an assistant. The time and how he was created are very mixed in the show, with the oldest iterations showing him to be just as he is at the start - big and with a cape and evil attitude. The later in the show it gets, the younger and less intimidating he gets.

- My personal headcanons are as such - Dr. Marbles attempted to make a full grown assistant with the capability to protect, assist, and eventually take over cyberspace once Marbles became too old and Motherboard grew outdated/too old. The traits programmed were: high intelligence, leadership, confidence, independence, and strength.

- However, his prototype was just too complicated to get off the table.

- He went younger and younger with a simpler start (putting in an adapting matrix with these base capabilities), fighting to complete this new life until finally, at age 7-10, it would start up. And his name was Hieronymous Adrian Hacker.

- Hacker was just that - new life. A new prototype. Installed with many skills and some very complicated components needed for a future ruler, which is why it was so difficult to perfect.

- With new life comes unexpected surprises. Hacker, even at a young age, was all of those things, but with time became nervous and people-pleasing under Dr. Marbles’s admittedly harsh training and leadership. Hacker still needed a parental figure, but Dr. Marbles wasn’t aware and Motherboard could never be a normal mother to him. (Subconsciously I believe. I don’t think either party is really aware.)

- Under unfortunately neglectful parents (not purposely but Hacker always did need extra attention), Hacker learned negative coping habits and slowly became sullen and angry. These capabilities programmed in him made it against his programming to take commands properly, and respect others - or at least when his ego got too big.

- He felt taken advantage of; his ideas were put into use with little credit going his way. He was always the wrong one, always the one who needed to keep learning. Dr. Marbles was arrogant and the harder Hacker pushed for faith to be put into him, the harder the doctor pushed back.

- Hacker, in response to now near-constant disapproval, tried to bounce back the only way he knew how; by puffing himself up instead. He learned deflection, denial, and a host of other unhealthy habits. He figured if he was the only one to believe in himself that’s all he would need.

- With the disapproval, Hacker completely lost respect for others. He got a mindset that everybody was out to get him - it was a bloated image, but it fueled other behaviors such as a touch of sadism.

- He decided that if nobody would take him seriously, he would force them to. He wanted to make everybody who’d denied him his ‘right’ (controlling cyberspace) pay.

- So he started a career of villainy. Using the ins and the outs of the system he knew so well to cause chaos. He built up the fear, and through fear, respect. Whether others ‘liked’ him or not was not a priority. (At least he told himself that until he believed it.)

- Hacker’s plan is to take over cyberspace. Cause misery, show the site admins, cyber citizens, and anyone else who stepped in his path how useless, pathetic, and helpless they were. This would last for two years, or perhaps longer, if he felt like it.

- Then, when all hope was lost and they begged for their lives, he would restore cyberspace’s greatness. The peace. Whatever broken code there was, he would fix. He would use his special knowledge to so perfectly improve the system that no one could anymore deny his superiority and greatness.

- Hacker has never told anyone this plan. His sense of drama and revenge wants everyone to be clueless.

- In short, Hacker has a God or Hero complex. He wants to be feared, hated, loved, acknowledged. Somehow all at once. This makes it make sense for me at least.

An idea that I wonder if anyone noticed

Hacker can actually be a great politician if he changes himself, He posses the same intelligence as his father, Dr.Marbles, and excellent political talent (and perhaps even better than his mother, Motherboard). I personally think that this kind of business acumen can be very keen to identify the interests of various countries and seek benefits for the cyberspace.

More importantly, he used to be a villain, a villain who would do anything to achieve his own ends, and this machiever way of thinking can help him easily see through other people's sugar coating and even mild political intrigues.

Marbles and Motherboard are brilliant politicians, but they need Hacker to help them discover the machinations of Marbles and Motherboard, who are in danger of falling into a trap set by others because of their good intentions to care about everyone in cyberspace.

Therefore, in order to match the Hacker of this period, I redesigned his image. The image I designed for Hacker at the beginning was based on the pictures of his youth, but later I realized that the reason why he specially transformed his body to be so large was that he admired power, and he wanted to give people the impression that he was powerful. I don't think he'd want to be that small even if he'd gone straight, but his body proportions are a little hard for me to accept. So I referenced the body of an average adult and used the hair of a young hacker, and finally settled on a draft of this image, which I will try to draw digitally in the future.

In terms of personality, the reformed Hacker is a bit more stable than before, and a bit of a gangster, if any of you have seen the Three-Body Problem, Hacker's personality may be a little bit Shiqiang (certainly not the Netflix TV version of the Three-Body Problem）When Motherboard and Marbles are distracted, he quickly takes over and helps them solve their problems.

Marbles and Motherboard are not surprised that Hacker went straight, and in fact the three eventually reconciled in a series of events. But for Motherboard and Marbles, it's hard to believe that they can make peace with Hacker (" It's a dream." They said.) Marbles didn't react much, but Motherboard cried and hugged Hacker, and then Motherboard fell asleep in Hacker's arms. (By the way, during the reconciliation process, all three of them went to regular counselors, The reason why Motherboard never gets better is because of Hacker, which is psychological. (One scene describes the three of them: Hacker gets his arms around Motherboard and Marbles, and the three of them laugh happily.)

Sometimes Hacker takes on an additional task: Getting Marbles, Motherboard, and Ada to bed from their late nights on the desk (Digit, Buzz, and Delete help recharge their late-night snack) (because cyberspace is so busy with so many things to deal with because of its relations with other countries, Several people can't even get a good rest) (illness is almost a common occurrence) (Hacker may be shown holding the motherboard in his arms and carrying her to the bed, then pushing Marbles and Ada to the bed to rest) (as well as holding the motherboard, weak from illness, (Past events made Motherboard have a vague sense of insecurity, and it is easy to have nightmares when outside and under pressure. The nightmare content generally includes: and Hacker in the second feud; Hunted by Miron; Hopper was killed; Marbles Ada was killed; Jackie, Matt, Inez was killed; Everyone in cyberspace is dead, no one is spared)

In terms of height, Hacker is higher than Marbles and Motherboard, Hacker > Motherboard > Marbles

In terms of politics, some national politicians described Hacker as "the only noteworthy opponent in the seven-member political team." That's why I was quoted in Time Magazine (the first three sentences were about Hacker in Time magazine, and I may try to draw the cover of Time magazine in the future) as "a man with the style of an ancient Chinese tactician."

Hacker has some physical skills, which allows him to protect himself in the war. (There will be pictures of hackers in military uniforms in the future)

Finally, there are some Hacker lines to end this article.

"We should be on our guard, Motherboard, they can't be that kind."

"Ha, see? What did I say, a bunch of bullies."

"So you're trying to get me to betray Motherboard? With these things?" (raising eyebrows)

“Chess is acceptable…if we can manage to find the pieces.” Marbles winked at Antoine, hoping that his brother-in-law could keep some kind of composure for longer than five minutes. Marbles reached to pat Hacker’s shoulder. An old wish on his lips, a renewed hope?

“Maybe poker sometime?” He startled in his chair when Hacker’s mood swiftly changed, hand recoiling like he’d just avoided a mouse trap.

He froze, mind racing through explanations for Hacker’s expression. There was a distance in those eyes, an erased chalkboard of many, many thoughts. Fear, anger?

Marbles blinked away his stupor, easing himself back into his seat. Whatever he’d done was obviously a trigger for some kind of negative emotion in Hacker and, while done in good intent, Marbles would take responsibility.

“My apologies, Hieronymous. Are you feeling all right?”

Marbles found himself tense and feeling confoundedly stupid with nearly every interaction with Hacker. He was desperate to not make a fool of himself or diminish Hacker’s progress yet it seemed with every step Marbles cracked some kind of shell or broke an unspoken rule that he didn’t quite understand.

Marbles noticed the frightened confusion furrowing Faith’s brow and slipped his hand over hers. He couldn’t help a smile when he looked at her - she was so smart and kind. And, while he always wanted to help his son, Faith’s safety and comfort took center stage. He scooped her up into his lap, running a hand through her hair. It was easier to look at her rather than Hacker right now.

“Really? I’m shocked,” Hacker laughed, ignoring the irritation in Antoine’s tone. He considered resuming his egging of the man but for the sake of getting to eat in peace thought better of it. Marbles’s short lecture was already starting to bring him down. He didn’t need to be told to microwave his food he could eat out if he wanted.

He was about to draw his lips back into a snarl when Motherboard took his fingers in hand and squeezed gently. “Nevertheless we’re happy you’re here.”

The gesture caught Hacker off guard. His processors started reving into overdrive as his conscience screamed at him to pull away. When Eileen spoke up, it provided the perfect instance for him to yank his hand out of her’s and change the subject.

“There’s nothing I’d love better than a little after hours sibling bonding. Maybe you can dig out the old chess board. No doubt someone— and I won’t name names,” he assured the table while glancing directly at Antoine. “Has lost half the pieces by now but we’ll make do.”

Hacker purses his lips into a forced smirk. The bruise underneath Motherboard’s eye had not escaped his notice. Had he? He didn’t remember— no, Abaddon was no more. He hadn’t lost control, he just hadn’t noticed it happening. Not that there was any evidence he’d been the one to do it. It could have very well been those bots and they’d been taken care of now.

They still talk to you like a child. How pathetic. He rubbed his temple between his thumb and forefinger. All you’ve proven is how worthless you are. You need me if you ever want their respect.

His mind snapped back to alertness when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He whirled around and pulled it away by the wrist. “Don’t TOUCH me!”

"Yeah we were till she caught on to the fact I can't drive or die. So she dumped me then wrote this long twitter post about me being a sociopath who deserves to die alone and homeless hehe but what does she know, am I right?"

"I don't know man, I mean she is a licensed psychiatrist. Isn't it like her job to know?"

"Okay fine I admit the post did have some compelling points. I do tend to blame everyone else for the war crimes I've committed under various pseudonyms every other week, but who doesn't? Honestly I almost bought into it myself, that is up until the paragraph on delusions of grandeur. That's when it went wayy off and lost all credibility in my eyes"

The genius part of it all is that I wrote it pretending to be my own new girlfriend so she thinks I've moved on. Essentially I explained how I, Rob D. Immortal, may be a jerk at times but it's unfair to accuse someone of delusions of grandeur just because they never truly loved you"

"Okay just going to brush over you thinking my name's Jimmy Kimmel. What part exactly of this entire conversation proves you're not a sociopath?"

"The part where I'm not delusional"
