Donald Trump, the Not Above the Law coalition is holding a press conference at Foley Square in New York to emphasize the seriousness of the 34 criminal charges against Trump—particularly his falsifying of business records to deceive the electorate and interfere with the election—and to call for a fair and prompt trial that allows for accountability. Speakers at the press conference demonstrated how this case is yet another clear example of Trump’s pattern of doing anything to get and stay in power—including hiding the truth from voters. Participants will send the clear message that Trump must be held accountable for continuing to upend and undermine a bedrock principle of our country: That no one, not even a former president, is above the law. “Two Is Better Than None” When after long last this week the Dems formally issued Articles of Impeachment, I have to say I was hesitant. With only two Articles (High Crimes and Misdemeanors + Obstruction of Congress) the scope of the case being made is pretty narrow (or “focused” as is their claim). It effectively limits the impeachment argument to the Ukraine scandal which I worry is dangerous in its erasure of Russian meddling and the entire saga that was the Mueller Probe. To exclude the myriad of other impeachable offenses carried out by this president, seems to be a mea culpa which feeds in to the strength of Republican legitimacy. That said, these Articles are pretty gnarly and may be a worthwhile gamble if they can carve away enough to reveal @realdonaldtrump fraudster ways and end this long con once and for all. In his opening statement, Volker made a point of defending the potential political opponent Trump wanted Ukraine to investigate, former Vice President Joe Biden, calling him “an honorable man” whom he holds in “the highest regard.” Volker referred to allegations about Biden’s involvement with Ukraine during the waning months of the Obama administration as “conspiracy theories” and said the suggestion that Biden had acted corruptly was “not credible.” Volker insisted that he did not make a connection at the time between Biden and Trump’s desire for Ukraine to investigate both possible interference in the 2016 election and the energy company Burisma, on whose board Biden’s son once sat. But Volker testified that he now understood that the president’s demands of Ukraine went beyond a generalized crackdown on corruption—that he wanted a probe of the Bidens, something Volker said this afternoon was “unacceptable.”

David Weisman, an Army veteran who abandoned his support of Trump over a year ago, published his thoughts via his blog on The Times Of Israel on Wednesday.

Referring to Trump as an "unpatriotic president" Weisman said that "real veterans who remember their oath will support impeachment." Wednesday marks the first public impeachment hearings for the president as Democrats push forward with their investigation on if Trump used his office for a personal favor during a July 25 phone call with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

The Army veteran elaborated to Newsweek, 

"Our oath as soldiers, the first line of it says we will defend the Constitution from enemies foreign and domestic."
