Another Thursday, Another Throwback. I'm actually enjoying these every week. This week, it's another manly anime called Drifters. (I posted Gangsta. recently). I absolutely loved Drifters! The story, humor, and concepts were brilliant! If your familiar with the historical figures, or even The Lord of the Rings, I think it makes it more engaging. It was for me. The other thing that I think was well written, was the brutality of war. Often when manga or even books make their way onto screen, it gets very toned down. Obviously I understand that has to do with censorship ratings, but seeing Drifters, it was a bit of a subtle reminder that wars and conflict are not pretty, and often brutal. The manga is very slowly progressing the story, and I'm still waiting for that Season 2. 😑 This 2016 anime is definitely on my list of recommendations.
