I wish Shrewtooth stayed around longer, he was a cool dude. I've seen people brush him off as a second Ravenpaw, and while they have same anxious to confident arc, it was different enough for me to appreciate him without thinking of Ravenpaw. I didn't even realize the similarities until people pointed it out.

Ravenpaw was traumatized and had to leave the clan, meanwhile Shrewtooth joining the clan is probably what saved him. I do think he should have still been a little jumpy though.

Also, him running off to get sheep wool for Leafstar's kitting was so cute. And of course, I gotta love the fact that he was the one to find Leafstar's kits and square up with Sol. It feels like his way of thanking her for helping him.

I miss Shrewtooth so much, maybe one day the Erins might do a book to explain why he, and several other, SkyClan cats disappeared between SkyClan and the Stranger and Ravenpaw’s Farewell. And even though Egg technically seemed to disappear after SkyClan’s Destiny I would want him to be included in this as well. A significant number of SkyClan cats did just vanish in that time period with no given explanation, there’s story potential there, maybe it could be something that takes place when Leafstar’s kids were apprentices.

Apart from Shrewtooth and Egg these are the cats that disappeared with no explanation between SkyClan and the Stranger and Ravenpaw’s Farewell:

So in total 6 cats (as long as I’m not forgetting anyone) disappeared between those books, and they’re just never mentioned again. We don’t know what happened to them. They could have all easily just had random tragedies befall them but it could be such an interesting idea to explore if their deaths are related. Hell even if it’s an outbreak of sickness such as Greencough, it could be interesting to see modern SkyClan navigate their first greencough outbreak. That could have caused Frecklewish to become a full time clan member perhaps, since she was at the start of Hawkwing’s Journey and her ever being a daylight warrior was just never mentioned in that book iirc?

...i'm just thinking about soliloquyheart being roughly the same age as whitewing. just imagine this new clan trying to figure everything out, having to deal with this housecat kitten that fell into the gorge. thankfully he landed on his feet, but echosong still treated him just to make sure he'd be alright until his human took him to the vet.

and then this kitten keeps coming back and he learns the proper way into the camp so he can stop staring everyone by leaping down into the gorge. this tiny bright eyed kitten who loves his human and wouldn't leave her for anything starts developing the same love for budding skyclan.

he's been a daylight warrior for his entire life in skyclan, one that's been more than happy to do the manual labor that the rest of the clan didn't want to do, one that's always found time to wriggle out of his home whenever possible to help his new friends and bring some toys he's not interested in to the nursery.

but it's a shock to everyone that he gets a clanborn apprentice rather than a daylight one. it's even more of a shock when he asks sharpclaw of all cats, the deputy that's made it very clear that he dislikes daylight warriors because they have paws in both worlds, to take care of his apprentice's training when he can't be in the clan.

of course he's asked about it, but the reason is simple: sharpclaw is a competitive pain in the tail that wants to prove his line of thinking right. so if soliloquyheart trains his apprentice well, sharpclaw's going to have to work extra hard to make his mentorship look better than soliloquyheart's.

...but then there's too much water in the territory and soliloquyheart's been taken to the vet after defending a clanmate from a fox. so creekpaw, who's promised to get their warrior name after the job is done, goes on a large patrol to figure out what's going on and how to fix it.

creekpaw gets their warrior name, but they're never seen in camp again. neither is petalnose and a good deal of the rest of the patrol is injured. the culprits? the other clans leafstar told them about.

when soliloquyheart finds out, he's so angry that he just leaves the territory, following the path he was supposed to take with the patrol. his human's used to him disappearing for a few days sometimes, and when he returns he'll be welcomed back so eagerly with his favorite brand and flavor of canned food and a trip to the pet store to pick out new toys. shrewtooth and patchfoot end up following him, to make sure he doesn't do anything reckless like walk straight into a badger den, and they're convinced to help him get justice for creekfeather, petalnose, and the rest of the patrol that was so horribly injured that frecklewish and echosong thought they might die from infection.

so they shed their clan names -- because being clan cats didn't help the patrol any -- and become sol, mole, and creek. shrewtooth and patchfoot -- mole and creek -- are the first cats sol truly has wrapped around his paw, the first cats sol truly uses his powers on.

but having so much power in the clans, it makes him lose sight of what he initially came to do. it's only when his meddling leaves thunderclan with only the leadership of leafpool and an increasingly pregnant poppyfrost that he comes to his senses and leaves with mole and creek.

it's agreed upon that they never speak of the lake again as they head home, content to take their secrets to the grave.

TIL NOTES: CHAPTER ONE

I’ve never done chapter notes before but I love reading fic trivia, and there is so much to share about TIL given I first had the idea some 10+ years ago!

☆ I’ve done my best to keep events strictly canon up until After the Flood, but after that, I throw canon out the window. I’ve always thought it was a mistake to bring SkyClan back to the other Clans, and I wish the Erins would have just given them their own arc in the gorge.

☆ There are only three things that I’ve actively changed: Sagefoot, Birdflight, Honeytail, and Swiftleap’s names. In canon, they are Sagenose and Birdwing and Egg. In fairness, I’d given them warrior names in my head before they were canon and I didn’t have the heart to change them.

☆ I decided last minute to merge chapters one and two. The beginning of chapter two is where Sharpclaw throws out of the den and makes him join a patrol. Since it was just a continuation of chapter one it didn’t feel necessary to split it up.

☆ I have struggled. So hard. With chapter titles. In the original versions I just wanted titles that sounded funny, but this version is more serious than it used to be. It’s still meant to be a light-hearted fic, but I want that level of seriousness to be conveyed. Titles are still a struggle but I do like the first one.

☆ The opening scene with Rabbitleap gave me the most trouble, because originally it set up a very important plot thread (sibling morning meetings) but I couldn’t fit that thread into this version anymore. Everything started to flow much easier after I deleted the entire scene.

☆ My favorite scene is the one with Rabbitleap, Plumwillow and Creekfeather, after Rabbitleap failed to drag Nettlesplash out of the den.

☆ I am ridiculously proud of myself for the term ‘honey moon phase’ and it’s not going anywhere.

☆ The total chapter count is 6646, and that is after I cut out a few scenes last minute.

Just found your blog and I'm just curious: with the more traditional SkyClan names in mind, would any of the Daylight Warriors have different Clan names and/or kittypet names?

Ebonyclaw— Nightclaw.

Billystorm— Maplestorm. Maple is a cute prefix and it would match Leafstar’s leaf theme.

Harveymoon— Moonlight. Moon is a “forbidden” name, but the erins don’t care so neither do I.

Macgyver— Sunlight. I wanted him to match Harveymoon.

Snookthorn— Darkthorn.

Rabbitleap— Walnutleap. Rabbits are WindClan’s speciality, it’s all they have.

Creekfeather— Creeksplash, to match Nettlesplash.

Firefern— Fernblaze. Still holds the “fiery” aspect without being repetitive.

Harrybrook— Silverbrook. It sounds pretty.

Egg— How can I change what is already perfect?

Bellaleaf— Redleaf. She’s red. What more do you want?

Rileypool— Pigeonfeather. Pigeon is cute but doesn’t fit -pool.

Pebbleshine— Fawnshine. I keep mixing her up with Puddleshine and Fawn- should be used more.

Ah, one of the many noncanon ships I made up to explain the existence of another character!

Creekfeather/Frecklewish

Their romance starts out in their apprentice days. Creekpaw had just been named an apprentice, and Frecklepaw had decided to stop being a part-time kittypet so she could dedicate her time to learning medicine. Creekpaw winds up in the medicine den on his first day of training, tripping over his paws as he came back to the gorge after touring the territory. He only sprained his paw, but it’s enough to keep him in the medicine den overnight, and he ends up developing a big crush on Frecklepaw after he’s released.

Creekpaw earns his warrior name, Creekfeather, around when Frecklepaw is named a full medicine cat, Frecklewish. He wants to pursue her, but isn’t sure how to go about it, and turns to his siblings for advice. Rabbitleap isn’t really any help, as he’s not interested in finding a mate, but Nettlesplash and Plumwillow encourage him to start spending some of his free time with Frecklewish. He offers to help her gather herbs, and they get to know each other.

Then his former mentor, Shrewtooth, dies unexpectedly. It’s Frecklewish who comforts Creekfeather alongside his siblings during the vigil. In the days that follow, Creekfeather asks Frecklewish to be his mate. She tells him she needs time to think on it, and isn’t sure if a medicine cat should have a mate at all, but Creekfeather makes a point that the Clan has two fully trained medicine cats right now, and he could even stay in the nursery with the kits if they ever had them.

At the next Gathering, Frecklewish accepts Creekfeather’s offer, and it’s not long before she realizes she’s expecting his kits. She keeps up with her duties up until she delivers a single tom-kit named Mistkit. As he promised, Creekfeather moved into the nursery to care for him, and Frecklewish stops by when he needs to be fed. Mistkit eventually becomes Mistpaw, and develops a crush on Stormpaw, Leafstar’s daughter. Creekfeather and Frecklewish are proud of their son, especially after he earns his warrior name, Mistfeather. Mistfeather takes Stormheart as a mate.

Unfortunately, both Creekfeather and Stormheart perish in Darktail’s attack. Frecklewish makes the difficult decision to leave with SkyClan, while Mistfeather stays in the gorge to preserve the memories of his father and mate. Frecklewish hadn’t seen Creekfeather in StarClan when they reached the lake, and she fears he may not have made it. But when the five Clans are restored, with ShadowClan under the leadership of Tawnystar, Frecklewish is finally reunited with her love.

(Ok so I'm pretty desperate) Will we get another chapter of The Impossible Life of A SkyClan warrior? I really need another chapter. Here are a few things I want: 1) Creek x Freckle. I want a forbidden romance in this book and creek x freckle is my fav. (Echo x Sparrow cringes me out). 2) Plum x Rock. I really hate Honeyflower and definitely dont want them to make up, so I want plum to "steal back" Rock from Honey and break her heart as revenge. Also, Phantomkit or Ghostkit for creek's kit.

Right now, TIL is undergoing heavy rewrites to the posted chapters. I think that once I’m done rewriting them, I might just publish a whole new fic since I’ve done so many revisions... if I do this, I’ll post an author’s note to the current TIL to let everybody know! A new chapter update won’t be coming for awhile.

As for your requests: I’ve considered Creek/Freckle before! I have something else planned for Creekfeather so I don’t think I’m going to go down that road, but it’s safe to say that Frecklewish def has had a crush on him before. As for Echo/Sparrow... mind if I ask why they “cringe” you out? If there’s something specific, then maybe I can alter it in my rewrites!

The thing is, Plumwillow needs to go through a lot of maturing. She really showed her age when she just assumed she could create a plan to make somebody fall in love with her -- somebody she barely knows, on top of that. And anyway, in Plumwillow’s eyes, proving that she doesn’t need Honeyflower and Rockshade is her idea of revenge. 

I like Ghostkit, btw! I ended up choosing a name for the kit months ago, but it’s possible that it will also change in the rewrites.
