Pour être honnête, je suis rarement aussi contente du résultat de mes projets couture ! J’ai mis du temps à trouver le patron que je voulais mais je suis contente de ne pas m’être précipitée sur un autre modèle que j’aurais dû modifier. Looking at my #topnine2018 … 8/9 are sewing related, and the outlier is about mental health awareness. Sounds accurate! 2018 is the year I went back to sewing with a passion. Several things helped: having 2/3 kids in school meant I have more kid-free hours at home. I also got rid of a lot of maternity/nursing clothes and found myself with big gaps in my wardrobe. But the biggest catalyst was reading posts from @sewliberated where she talked about sewing a pair of shorts …. Over the course of a week. A seam here, a seam there. I thought, “I can do that.” I live in a small space and have to put away my sewing stuff frequently. But it’s been SO much fun and such a delight to make so many garments this year, including 2 #westwatertunic, 4 #metamorphicdress, 4 #gypsumskirt, 2 #hinterlanddress, 1 #gemmatank, 1 #matchatop, 5 #stratatop, 1 #foragervest, 1 #schoolhousetunic, and other small projects. Why yes, we walk our kittens on leashes. 😄😻😻 I just want to take a moment here to thank my children for walking this creative road with me. My boys take photos, ask questions about pattern construction, and sit in front of the machine making their own 3D art. My eldest is super interested in accounting, and is learning how to do most Quickbooks tasks. He also wants to handle customer service emails once he becomes more confident in his spelling. Yesterday, as I released the #hinterlanddress and sewed, he ran a Brother Summer Camp for my youngest, doing puzzles, hopscotch, magnatiles, and four square. ✨ My three homeschooled kids see me both working hard and playing hard. They see me viewing creativity as a pleasure and a challenge. Despite the fact that I don't have unlimited time to play and attend to their needs, they know they always come first ... and they know their mama's income pays for "all the fun things," plus that used car we needed. ✨ I'm not sure what they'll think of all this looking back as adults, but I'm hoping they'll recall the family business with fondness. More than anything, I hope they will realize how much I adore them. ✨😍 Thank you for supporting my family!

I remember reading in a magazine, as a teenager, that you should never wear red and purple together. 🙄 Well, let’s hear it for not following arbitrary clothing rules! I’m wearing my favorite @sewliberated #metamorphicdress over a cropped top version of the #hinterlanddress (which is being released so soon!!) Since it’s just the bodice, it’s a cooler way to layer in the Georgia heat. Tired eyes brought to you by my children. 😂
