馃枻馃馃拃鉂勶笍 JULGHOST 馃馃拃鉂勶笍 馃枻
My biggest tribute art for Papa Copia so far.
I was inspired by old master painter Viktor Vasnetsov, the scandinavian Julgoat, the mythological Wild Hunt and of course Copia's bewitching fashion sense.
[ Painted in Pocreate. Color edited in Photoshop. ]

Christmas gnomes are more popular in Scandinavia than Christmas elves and even regular gnomes, so sometimes people will have gnomes replace elves in Santa鈥檚 shop to make it more region specific.
But in folklore gnomes were always proud to do housekeeping. They repaired stuff, swept the floor, fed the animals and kept the home safe. If people didn鈥檛 respect them they鈥檇 take revenge, or worse, take their services somewhere else.
So I prefer to imagine the elves do all the toy producing, from design to carving to assembling to painting to sewing to packaging, while the gnomes keep the shop up and running, inventing and repairing the machines the elves use, cooking the meals for their breaks, cleaning and looking after the reindeer.

You know, it occurred to me that the whole "commit arson to burn the G盲vle goat" vs "save the goat at any cost (to our taxpayers)" thing is basically a match of Yule themed Counter-Strike Sweden plays with itself every year, and every time they update the Wikipedia page to say TERRORISTS WIN the goat was destroyed, the whole world is like

Yule is my favorite word for Christmas.
Yule (spelt as Jul in Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish but pronounced as Yule to us English speakers).
I love Yule because it actually entails multiple religions. It may be the result of cultural appropriation but I like to think of it as sharing.
Yule (Jul) is the Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish word for Christmas. It's also the Wiccan Winter Solstice Holiday. It's also the Asatru Winter Holiday. It's also used by many other Neo Pagans.
Yule is so versatile because it means the December Holiday for so many people, from Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish Christians to Wiccan and Asatru.

In the hush of night, 'neath a windy embrace,
Winter's attire, yet a whisper of fall's gentle grace.
A hint of reminiscence, on the eve of Yule,
Thoughts waltz in candlelight, a tender yuletide fuel.
