I'M DONEEEE with bg3!!!!!! CREDITS ROLLING! almost 110 hours for one playthrough, doing the main + companion storylines and whatever sidequests i stumbled upon in the process. steam says i have 150 hours in the past two weeks, and since i didn't play EA any that shortly before release, those 40 extra hours are i guess from reloads and... does the time played displayed in-game not count loading screens? good lord i hope i didn't spend 20+ hours in loading screens. i think i spent about 30-35 hours in act 1, 30-35 in act 2, and the rest in act 3 (which would be my favorite if my performance in the city was better - but i at least never did have any crashes in it! just the first 2 acts)
some rambling thoughts on the ending/my playthrough in the tags, but tl;dr i'm not as underwhelmed as reddit led me to believe i would be (certainly less than i was by dos2's ending!), but i am frustrated by a great deal of visual bugs (flat textures, missing meshes, etc) i experienced in the ending cutscenes - but i have no idea how much was the game itself and how much was my computer not being up to the task (i'm leaning towards it being my computer, because it has a habit of making textures super fucked up after playing for a while, like they don't decompress properly or something and theyre 5 pixels big & nasty-looking, but also that's different than the bugs i got in the ending). i'm also confused by the lack of ending slides since those have been an rpg staple probably for as long as there have been rpgs. but overall: WOW I REALLY LIKED THIS VIDEO GAME. extremely worth the $60 i spent 3 years ago, and will be worth however much i have to spend to upgrade my computer to do it justice.
#SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS#READ THESE TAGS AT YOUR OWN RISK#so i ended up ditching the two-impulse-playthroughs concept at the start of act 3#i couldn't commit both to being evil and also to playing the game twice as the same character in such a short span of time#so impulse consolidated into one astarion-romancing tadpole-eating mostly-chaotic-good disaster#they also romanced the emperor. because of course they did#what's that meme. *astarion voice* me my partner and the mind flayer that visits them in their dreams#yknow. the one with the $500 mareep plushie#but they actually faced no consequences for all their tadpole usage other than having a spooky face for act 3#which no one ever commented on#so either they needed more tadpoles or i specifically had to pick the 'could i become illithid assimilate orpheus and use the stones'#option. which speaking of orpheus i am so sorry lae'zel i will do you justice next playthrough#uhhh what else. i'm not as unhappy with karlach's ending as reddit led me to believe either. but that's probably just because i love sad#endings. and also didn't fully romance her this playthrough. maybe i'd feel different if i did#the actual final boss fight was very very cool. gortash & orin's felt underwhelming compared to ketheric's#raphael's fight was super cool but mostly because of the disney villain song ass music. i managed to crowd him into a corner so it was just#a matter of hitting him over & over until he died. not that difficult#i never had to reload a fight more than once and that happened a single digit number of times. which i appreciate! i was on explorer#after all. the difficulty felt perfect - big fights were challenging and stressful but not frustrating to the point of tears#as they tended to be in EA for me. many an EA playthrough of mine ended against priestess gut#i got an achievement for saving every tiefling refugee i could#and specifically impulse killed the netherbrain & destroyed the tadpoles#i can't think of anything else. i like this game a lot#the companions & their storylines were the absolute highlight for me as they are in every rpg#even if i didn't properly complete lae'zels. or wyll's? i mean i broke his pact. and then found his dad who died anyway. but the quest was#never marked complete in my journal#the ending i got for gale felt strange to me too like bro youre really just gonna repeat the mistakes of your past self and that karsus guy#or whoever. i passed that dc 30 persuasion check and everything#still in awe of shadowheart & astarion's specifically. i'm sure i'll feel the same about lae'zels next playthrough#aaaand i hit the limit on tags! well. off to draw! maybe. i might sleep for 5 million years first. exhausting! 150 hours in 10 days!

This is for Weed Tips anon;
I've tried it before, and I have to give you a big heads up for trying weed; If you're one who gets nervous SUPER super easy when it comes to changes in your body, DO NOT go hard on it.
If you try smoking it, please mind the dosage and wait a few minutes before smoking it again if you don't feel the effects immediately. If you try an edible, for the love of everything PLEASE read the instructions if possible and only eat a SMALL amount depending on the amount that's in it. Edibles take a long while for the effects to hit your system, so when you see that popular meme of "'This edible ain't shit' *an hour later* 'I can taste colors'" it really is what that feels like.
Your body will relax a lot and will feel extra heavy if you don't go easy on it. I panic easily if I don't feel like I'm in control of my body. That alone has made me have a few bad trips because I felt like I wasn't feeling the effects I should have, then took another hit and ended up pretty much stuck in place for an hour or two screaming in my head because I couldn't move a muscle, not even to speak.
The stuff I've tried relaxes your body a LOT. My partner is fine with that because he has severe pain sometimes and it helps him take his mind off things for a while and feel comfortable. He enjoys it, I don't, unless I hit it extra light so I can still be able to move.
My biggest tip is if you want to try it for the first time, make sure you have someone you trust with you in case you have a bad trip and need some reassurance just in someone being present with you. Don't do it when you know you have to drive somewhere. Be in a safe environment and definitely have some snacks and water or other hydration with you. The Weed Munchies will hit ya lol
I don't want to discourage you from trying, but if you don't have a disclaimer, it really can be a bit scary if you're not told ahead of time. I hope this helped in some way though! Good luck to you anon <3
-@hoodieanon
I must apologize, i forgot to mention 🫐 anon by name. I didn't realize until reading 🫐 anon's ask back again heh
Yeah this is why I haven’t been able to try it, because I can’t do it at home, anywhere I go I drive myself, and I don’t have any irl friends who smoke. I don’t have a safety net here to try it outside of my mom who I don’t feel like she would be supportive of it even though in the past she says she would be but when I’ve actually been like okay here I go she’s like NOPE. Same with drinking. Anywhere I go out that I don’t drive my mom drives. Otherwise I drive meaning I would have to drive home. I don’t have anyone’s house or mutual place I can try stuff at without driving myself to/from, let alone any actual like. Friends.

Out of curiosity, what do you think are some of the most iconic or memorable individual quotes from Sentai? Not so much catchphrases as individual moments, like Liveman's "Why have you sold your souls to the devil?" or Magiranger's "Oh, man, it's our idiot". I've been thinking on the topic for a piece of fiction I'm writing
ahh my mind always blanks when it comes to questions like this, which is why i didn't answer this right away. i can obviously think of a ton of iconic moments from just about every season, but thinking of specific quotes that stand out to me was a little tricky. my memory has been and always will be a bit shit, but ultimately, these were the ones that sprung to mind after thinking on it for awhile

kid of the week episodes are a dime a dozen in this franchise and by that same token, sports episodes don't usually leave much of an impression beyond "that was fun!", but there's something so earnest about ninnin 21 that it's always stuck with me. kinji helping this kid not to give up on his passion stands above a lot of similar plots due to just how endearing hideya tawada is in the role, and "people with dreams are hard to beat!" is such a quintessential children's hero line, it's simple but perfect. always makes me smile
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
timeranger's core theme coming to a head with the reveal of tatsuya's identity in his first major confrontation with his father. i think the screenshots speak for themselves enough, but in the context of the series up to this point it hits even harder. probably my favorite "broken helmet" scene in toku, which is saying a lot since they're all pretty good!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this one is so tied up in shurikenger's Lore™ and hurricaneger's endgame that im hesitant to really go into detail about it, but it's a direction i wasn't expecting the show to go in and it made for a really beautiful lead-in to the final episodes. there's a reason i love this guy beyond just the memes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
do i even need to say anything. toshiki inoue i am in your walls.
and of course, we must never forget the actual greatest line in super sentai history

PERMANENT PLOTTER FOR OLIVER~.
Tumblr media
I think it's time I start to branch off on what I wanna do for Oliver. He's got a lot to learn, of course, being that he's still a kid. he's tasted freedom and what the world is like with all of its Normalcy like a world with a sun, clear blue skies, and all of that stuff. There are a lot of things I wanna explore with Oliver so here we go!
Both who have interacted with Oliver and have yet to interact with Oliver are welcome to engage in this plotter call! As long as our muses can vibe with mine and they can click in any way, as long as we can see our muses going somewhere, then yes!!! Please, consider meeting my baby boy.
By liking this, I'll safely assume that you're okay with me hopping into your IMS or DMS (if we have each other's Discord) for plotting reasons, Memes on memeday, and sponty starters. I usually already do these (not all the time), but if you'd prefer I ask first before I throw one at you, please let me know ahead of time. I love, love, LOVE sponty starters, but I understand that some may not be down for that. I will always ask and communicate. Anyway, this isn't just for Oliver, this is probably for your character as well!
Let's develop our babies together!!!!!
Under this read more are lists of relationships that I'm looking for.
Friends: Oliver has met a lot of people here since his arrival. He's met ALL kinds of people, really. A lot of them are acquaintances. Maybe he's met just a small handful of people he can call a friend, but I don't know. Anyway, Oliver is pretty easy to get along with, if anything a little different and there's nothing wrong with that. Oliver is the biggest hype boy, so you'll always have him in your corner hyping you up and supporting you.
Enemies: It's hard to make an enemy out of Oliver. Even if you're a monster out there terrorizing people and such, he only does what he does because it is part of his job. It's expected of him. He doesn't really hold any ill feelings toward monsters as he ALSO understands that it is what they do. Anyway, to make an enemy out of Oliver may be a challenging one, actually. Still, it's not impossible. Oliver considers the people he's gotten close to as his family and Oliver is a family boy. So, the quickest way to get on his shitlist is to mess with them.
Sparring Partner: Oliver LOVES sparring. he loves anything that gets his blood pumping like exercises and stuff. Whatever chance he gets, he's always looking for a sparring partner, so if you feel this is right up your character's ally, hit him up! He's always going to say yes to sparring.
Hunt: Oliver is good at tracking things down with his nose. He may be capped right now, but yeah! If you're having a pest problem whether it's monsters or just evil-doers or what have you, Oliver is your guy for hire. In his world, he was a monster hunter anyway, so hunting in general is his thing!
Mentor: There are maybe a small select few he'd call a mentor back home, but here in Spirale he hasn't come across any yet. Maybe Garry. Anyway, he's still a child. He is going to need help being guided and nurtured into a wonderful person. There's always something to learn and there's a shit ton that Oliver does not know about the world and overall just anything in general!
Found family: Garry is so far his found family. He found her all on his own and he's so happy to have them! As I've mentioned in I believe the beginning of (enemies section), Oliver is a family kid. He loves the idea of being surrounded by family whether blood or not. He'll do anything for those he deems super close to him.
Crush/Romance: This goes hand in hand with romance. THIS does not give an open invitation to be a creep. I will block on sight. Anyway, Oliver is a kid. he's 16 and he's going to have crushes here and there and he's going to one day meet someone where he wants to spend his entire life with and that's okay! When it comes to crushes or falling in love with someone, it can be a one-sided thing. Anyway, this isn't really something I'm focusing on. I just thought I'd throw this in there.
IF THERE IS OTHER IDEAS YOU HAVE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!
If you wanna know where Oliver frequents in Spirale, please let me know! I haven't gotten around to writing what locations he likes going to on his stats just yet, but there are so many places he'd explore and check out. There are a handful of places he really likes going though.

teko's uhhhhhh guide to hammer-swinging idiots i think
so i saw a certain @ConcernedRowlet's guide to pokemon care on chatter and i was immediately like "hey this is super good and all but you know what it needs? more memes and affectionate badmouthing of the pokemon in question" so allow me to enlighten you about how to care for these little hammer shitling goblins through the lens of my personal experiences and a shitload of sleep deprivation in the form of a rotumblr post
[ahem] "fuckin' tinkatink line! how do they work?"
[Image ID: A half-conscious Tinkaton sprawled out on its hammer, covered in grime and food debris. Its tongue is hanging out of its mouth slightly.] yes they truly are the pinnacle of grace, aren't they
these guys are all-female fairy/steel types and they're uhhhh so like you know those inventors in a lot of TV shows the ones who somehow come up with just the thing to save the day and can casually flaunt the rules of science because it's cool for the audience to watch like uhhh professor farnsworth or something ...yeah imagine that, but they're perpetually disheveled and constantly acting like they just did a line of cocaine and pounded back a six-pack of monster immediately after
let's start with tinkatink tiny babey the little rattle thing they hoist around that's supposed to be a hammer due to them not being very strong in this form it's less a "hammer" and more like "heavy-ass monster hunter greatsword" to them their technique with it is less "hit the enemy" and more of a "use the sheer weight and heft of the thing to swing yourself around in the hopes you manage to concuss something" sort of thing it's important to get them accustomed to using it quickly so they're less likely to hurt themselves trying to flail around, especially in battles
they're fiercely protective of their little scrap clump, and for good reason you know how i said they're not very strong well ferrovores (metal eaters like aggron or steelix) often eat their hammer  it's like a little iron-flavored sucker this is bad news for the tinkatink, because having the physical strength of a wet spaghetti noodle doesn't do much for self defense
this is not a wild pokemon exclusive thing, either if you have any ferrovorous pokemon in your squad be sure to establish early on that this thing is friend, not food it's important for the tinkatink too they're perfectionists when it comes to the hammer and will take it pretty hard if it gets eaten what you should do if this happens is assure them it's not their fault, and give them little pieces of scrap metal to help them along
now onto tinkatuff! bigger! stronger! dumber? these guys are sort of like the vigoroth of the line well uh if vigoroth didn't evolve into a fat lazy fuck, at any rate in this form, your buddy gets more of the hyperactive temperament the line is known for
they're also very stupid there i said it i'm sorry but they are dumb as all distortion like, they're not dumb in the sense that there's nothing going on up there like a slowbro or volcarona but they're morons in the same way as a frat boy with ADHD on top of having a ridiculous amount of ideas rattling around in their skulls (most of them poorly thought-out) they think they know everything when they really, really don't and since they have the impulse control of a two year old things can go...badly
[Video ID: A Tinkatuff, gleefully carrying a large fragment of a Copperajah tusk and cackling, while getting chased across the screen by a herd of Cufant. Leading them is a very angry-looking Copperajah with most of its left tusk missing. The trainer holding the Rotom Phone can be heard facepalming, then proceeding to mutter "I told you this was a bad idea, you pink idiot..." He then sends out a Ceruledge and starts running forward in an attempt to protect the Tinkatuff.]
in this form it's imperative for you to put a lot of effort into cleaning them this is because they get...filthy like really filthy here's a fun little experiment: attach a poke doll or other such plush toy to a pokemon's leash and let it drag through the dirt as it runs then briefly dunk it in whatever you're cooking for dinner  congratulations you're now in the ballpark of how dirty they get
in the wild they basically live in huge burrows of scrap metal and food waste they make in their forges they have little to no standards for cleanliness because of this told you they were like frat boys they eventually begrudgingly pick the bare minimum off of their trashpile-mates when their fur becomes super duper matted and stuff it's up to you to keep them from getting to this point by gently scrubbing, cleaning and thoroughly combing their fur on the regular fortunately they don't like, hate baths and stuff: they just really can't be assed to clean themselves in the slightest
ooh right right right the hammer almost forgot about that not long after evolving these guys will seek out any metal they can get their mitts on to beef up their hammer ...the "beefing up" usually consists of just taping on a few pieces of bent metal and lengthening the pole, but still, A for effort
but when i say any metal i mean any metal they can and will get it off of a large appliance, your plumbing, even a steel-type corpse if you leave them to their own devices they can literally smell metal so don't think your plumbing is safe either so as soon as they evolve it's best to get them more materials fortunately many stores in paldea (and a few other places) sell different types of sheet metal for the express purpose of sating their appetite and if not just going to your local hardware place is usually enough to tide them over or if you're really cheap you could just rummage for stuff in local scrapyards take her with you when you do this your partner has a good eye for what they're after, she'll know which kind of metal is right for her the hammer gets juiced up more and more as they get stronger so you're gonna have to provide them with more metal when it finally reaches a certain size and grandiose-ness you can often expect them to evolve not long after
on top of that, being the ADHD-ass little nutjobs that they are, they test their hammer by smashing it against whatever catches their eye they get much physically stronger here, so their swings have a bit of heft to them now unless you want a lot of ventilation in your home take measures to control this immediately fill a punching bag with rocks, let them go nuts with it, and put it back up again whenever they start beefing up their hammer some more this teaches them not to hit random stuff
and finally tinkaton! tinkaton are crafty very crafty they're still not smart by any means but they are crafty so crafty, in fact, that they often use other pokemon as tools
[Video ID: A Tinkaton, holding a Charcadet upside down above a hunk of metal that it's working on. The Charcadet's fire plume is shining brightly as the Tinkaton uses it to weld a handle to its creation like a blowtorch.]
there are close to no limits on what they can find uses for, so if one of your team members finds themselves getting used as a power drill or smth, don't be surprised: this even applies to their battle strategies
they get a lot stronger in this phase and i mean a lot you think some of the stuff fighting types like machamp and conkeldurr can handle are impressive try hurling around a 200lb+ blunt object like it's a long twig and still being able to lift more if they wanted to they could probably swing you around as a hammer too! ....not sure how well that would go, since you'd probably splatter as soon as they hit you against something, but they still could!
their hammer is very large and elaborate now it's almost a miracle that it's still built around the same rattle thing it had as a tinkatink! they don't need beds or blankets or anything because, get this, they just plant the hammer into the ground and pass out i always wonder how their back isn't torn to fucking pieces when they wake up from sleeping on a giant lump of metal if they trust you enough, they'll eventually start lightly bopping you on the head with it as a sign of affection!
in the wild, they live in large clans with other members of their line called "forges" these forges are equal part giant trash and scrap burrows and huge testing grounds for whatever crazy thing they decide to band together and build they also make prosthetics for wounded pokemon out of steel-type carcasses in exchange for scrap metal and berries!
forges typically give roving trainers a wide berth because they know pissing off humans is a bad idea very rarely a stray tinkatuff will ignore this because, again, they're foolhardy dumbasses if they go after you just hit it with a few status moves and it'll typically turn tail and get a stern talking to from the forge's elders or you could just use whirlwind or smth the different forges in paldea are proficient at utilizing different pokemon, and even form sort of partnerships with them for example the asado desert forge teams up with varoom and revavroom to use them as steeds [Image ID: A Tinkaton with a red scrap cloth headband riding a Revavroom, leading a pack of Tinkatuff and Tinkatink riding several Varoom.]
as you'd guess from this they're very social creatures it's important to let them bond with the rest of your team better in this form, as they serve as surrogates for their pack if you want you can also visit your local forge to let your tinkaton screw around with the forge members a bit for funsies
a common misconception is that tinkaton hunt down corviknight by tossing rocks (or sometimes other pokemon, such as falinks troopers) at them in the air with their hammer hence why squawkabilly is used as the flying taxi coach in paldea this is actually a lie and they get hard walled by corviknight (and then they get salty over not being able to do anything useful in the battle) they do it because to them it's funny as shit it's like their equivalent to miltank tipping they don't really do it to other people's corviknight because it's not as funny: they don't get as surprised because they're far closer to the ground
they're also super driven to build stuff what is "stuff?" nobody knows! not even them! sometimes they just get a flash of inspiration and start scribbling out plans for some sort of grandiose scrap metal behemoth and you just have to roll with it if you have a bit of engineering/mechanical know-how, you can feel free to join in the fun!
....unfortunately that's where the burglary sprees start
now i know what you're thinking you little smarty-nipple
"wehhhh but maybe yours is just a bad temperament or you're not raising it right or-"
N O .
i have worked with several of these rattata bastards and i can say with complete certainty that they're all a bunch of kleptomaniacal shitheads seriously if you took one of those Rabbid things from Rayman and gave them a hammer well uh you wouldn't exactly have a tinkaton but you'd be pretty arcdamn close
if they need metal and you don't give it to them they will steal things computer parts refrigerator doors stove hatches engine blocks it does not matter what it is or what it's made of if it ain't nailed down and it's made of metal they're taking that shit this is why it's really, really important to teach them to ask for your aid if they're in the mood to build something
they also need to hunt wild steel-types not often, mind you, kinda like pyroar prides but it's still sometimes tinkaton are hardwired to kill for their materials giving them sheet metal and stuff helps with the urge to build but not the urge to "disassemble" steel types you'll need to get the proper licenses to hunt pokemon and only go after any steel-types that are in season to do this what they're after is metal pokemon with only small bits of metal on their body, or those which have the metal-y bits on the inside, like lucario or togedemaru, are typically off the menu they also need you to help, and possibly your other pokemon remember what i said about them being pack hunters to them, you're the pack's leader, so they look to your guidance for hunting
unfortunately this, along with the stealing part, is why a lot of trainers end up abandoning/releasing them in this phase some people can't bring themselves to be complicit in outright hunting down pokemon, only capturing them, which is understandable being denied part of the enrichment it needs, the tinkaton begins lashing out in other areas to try and vent some of the stress it's built up with no other suitable outlets this can lead to your opponents or even other people getting seriously hurt if you're looking to raise one of these guys, please, look for a suitable alternative unless you're willing to really, really commit that said, give 'em what they need and rein them in here and there and you'll have a loyal (if slightly violent) partner who can come up with some truly amazing things like this [Image ID: A Tinkaton decked out in an imposing suit of armor made from assorted scrap metal and Steel-type hide, posing triumphantly atop its hammer, which is planted into the ground. The armor has a Corviknight's head plating as a helmet, and a segment of a Forretress' shell hanging from the back like a cape.]
finally, a few anecdotes from my own specimen of these dum-dum yokel gremlins
cotton likes eating her food on her hammer as well as sleeping on it, yet she doesn't like it getting cleaned ...she doesn't seem to make the correlation between a dirty hammer and more baths ...nor does she seem to care
she likes listening to "Sweet Release of DEATH - Sugary Spire" before battles because it gets her even more hyper than usual this helps because i like to use her as a support lead/damage dealer hybrid, because, as befitting their crafty nature, they learn a lot of support-oriented moves
anyway yeah that's all i got later nerds

GET TO KNOW YOUR ADMIN !!
Tumblr media
name — Nebula, though Neb is also fine. As are any variations other people want to give me for funsies!
pronouns — They/Them or She/Her, currently I don't feel too strongly about one or the other.
preferred comms — Tumblr IMs by default. I don't readily add people on discord these days, but if I do have you added then you're always welcome to shoot me messages.
name of muse(s) — Amita (OC), Z/DBS Vegito, Z/DBS Gogeta, GT Gogeta, Goku, Gine, Gotenks, Ribrianne, Shallot, Giblet.
experience in RP — First seriously started around 2015 on this site (as a minor -shivers-), sticking closely to the Pokemon RPC. Been here on the site ever since, though I've bounced around a few different fandoms.
best experiences — Some great (albeit scattered) highs in the PokeRPC, ironically really enjoyed the brief time the Animal Crossing RPC was alive ~2016, and I've had good times here in the DB RPC. I mainly thrive off a sense of genuine community, like where people acknowledge characters of other muns in interactions, and the experiences I consider fun usually come from that. Also, some ships a writing partner and I have developed were a total blast.
pet peeves/dealbreakers — Aside from the usuals (y'know bigotry and the like), people who OOC seem like they're just...a vibe killer. Their personality rubs me the wrong way, I get the impression they take things too seriously or personally all the time, they constantly come off as wanting things to always go their specific way or else they'll whine, etc etc. The point of rping is to do it with people you actually enjoy writing with, and I for sure would rather not waste time with people I don't like even talking to. 2nd big dealbreaker are people not liking how I portray my muses whichever ways and trying to start drama over it. And I don't just mean in the personality or backstory ways either. I've been policed by someone for giving an OC certain traits / powers, and I've been given shit for muses I've had being straight or hetero in the past. It's infuriating.
muse preference ( fluff, angst, smut ) — I have a somewhat bad relationship with writing smut in rp, but fluff and angst are great. I only like them if they serve some kind of purpose though, even if it's a small one. I will say that I'm picky with angst, because pushing artificial angst to force character conflict is a pet peeve I have when it comes to media, so there would need to be a discussion on how to tackle an angsty plot or storyline.
plot or memes — Both! Though there are pros and cons to them. Plots can be tough to set up but can have cool payoffs, while memes have a fairly simple path but the interaction can easily end up not accomplishing much. Really depends on the circumstance, the characters involved, and whatever ideas I or my writing partner(s) may or may not have.
long or short replies — Really depends on the quality. A top-tier skill to have in RP (probably in creative writing in general) imo is to know how to say a lot with as few sentences as possible. A long reply could have all the detail in the world, but if it's 5+ paragraphs (especially filled with nonsensical prose), that's just tiring to read. Don't go too short and give your rp partner not enough to work with, but also don't pad or drag things out just to increase sentence number.
best time to write — I really wish I could say. Motivation usually hits me out of nowhere and I can tackle multiple drafts at once, but that's pretty rare nowadays. I am trying to get into the habit of looking at a thread and just jotting down whatever comes to mind, then coming back later to refine it. I do tend to feel consistent motivation whenever a thread is a part of an over-arching plot or community event though (all the 60+ note threads I've ever had have been in this category), so there's that. So want me to be super active with our thread(s)? Plot something juicy out with me then 😈 JK JK, no pressure.
are you like your muse? — Some of them in some areas, hell yeah. Amita's personality is about 40-50% modeled after my own. I share Vegito's love of calling out and clowning on bullshit. I'm hella reserved and antisocial like Gogeta. Four's retreated to a quiet forest away from the chaos of civilization to live out a peaceful life; something I wish I could do. We have similar likes across the board, but I do struggle to think of anything glaring that I have in common with my other muses.

fire emblem, or, as i like to call it, the game where you can make no mistakes and still lose. yeah i'm fucking mad but whatever, i did it.
this chapter really isn't THAT bad, i feel like the strategies for dealing with everything are fairly apparent. i just got some really dogshit luck on multiple attempts (3 60% attacks in a row missed and then in a separate attempt 2 90% attacks missed 🤪) so it really soured the shit out of my mood. the basic strategy you want to use is send two cavs + hector + priscilla and one other unit (in my case, it was guy) to the north, send matthew to the west and give him a buddy unit to kill the shaman unless your matthew has gotten stupidly good (or you just want to roll dice loaded against you 3-4 turns in), leave two of your units (one of them should preferably be lyn) behind to deal with the cav + nomad reinforcements. lyn benefits greatly from mani katti here and will nail kills she otherwise has next to no business getting. in a bizarre twist of fate, my lyn has 14 strength and 13 speed. can't tell if i should be arguing that she's blessed in strength or getting burned in speed. probably both.
speaking of level ups, i feel like i got an okay assortment of them. feel like i'm getting mostly average level ups in that people are getting the stats they should be (i.e. florina's getting speed and resistance, hector's getting strength and defense, lowen's getting whatever + defense), and while i wish i was getting ever so slightly better level ups on people like guy (he's always juuuuuust shy of 1RKOing and can't double with the iron blade), i feel like i should largely have no complaints. kent's basically caught up as well, low on skill but skill is a meme stat.
the biggest annoyance of the map is the thieves that spawn in the north. one of them will just fuck off (i assume this is because it's there to go for the chests to the west that i always end up getting before he's even a presence), but the other one is a super asshole. on my previous attempts i was able to intercept him and kill him before he looted more than one chest (meaning you can still get all the treasure), but in the one that beat the chapter, the little cunt got to the silver sword then the knight crest, meaning i lost the silver sword. the only positive i can say is that he never does the reverse (which would be a colossal hit (that i would reset over)), and the silver sword is only 1500 gold. but it's really just the principle of the matter. way more annoyed about it than i really should be but i'll survive.
people shit on lucius but he does one solid thing, regardless of whether or not you used him in lyn mode: he's able to lure out one of the knights in bernard's room and kill it with a 3HKO. it's nothing impressive but it's something. meanwhile, his boyfriend raven unfortunately wasn't able to do much for me since i needed him to recruit lucius. he doesn't need experience that badly for now, but the sooner i can make him a frontliner, the better. he is one of the stars of HHM after all.
speaking of bernard's room! capital F FUCK that mage in that room. dude's a gigantic fuck and i wish the worst on him.
bernard himself was very "whatever" to kill. hector with wolf beil deleted him in 2 hits. i would've vastly preferred to get the kill with someone else, as hector's about to hit level 15 (which is fairly overleveled compared to the rest of my units and enemies in the current chapters + i don't need him hitting 20 early), but there were no really good options out of the people available (eliwood, kent, guy, lowen). eliwood could've maybe done some damage, but the rapier only has 4 uses and eliwood isn't as reliable as ol' hector.
i am grouchy and bitchy rn, but i'll probably wake up pretty happy with how things turned out. i was very worried about hitting both tactics and experience goals, so to clear both that well is very fortunate. i'm at the point where i need to start cycling some units out (i.e. lowen), and i'd like to make use of rebecca/bartre but it's hard to catch them up. maybe pirate ship will be kind to them. but you know what chapter isn't going to be kind to me? the next one! not looking forward to port of badon, but at least it's got double the turns for 5 star compared to HNM (seriously, fuck doing that chapter in 5 turns). also gonna have to decide how many units i want to bring just for the premise of using them in the arena. erk in the arena for experience buffering is extremely tempting. i'll meditate on it.

So I think we have similar taste and I would love to see your writing on here! Most of my writing is lady whump and it seems like generally themes/topics that are less common around here. I don’t know how to use AO3 though. No pressure but wanted to share this!
- @soheavyaburden
Hi. I get it. But also, sometimes I post my writing here, it gets 0 notes or barely 5 notes, so, like... it makes me not want to keep writing. Even if I don't get many hits or comments on AO3, still get a few kudos and is like "uh, someone is actually reading this".
Nowadays the main reason I keep this blog is because I want to say I have a whump blog. I gave up on being part of the community and on creating content (even if my main goal was to post my writing, memes and writing prompts here). I don't have the motivation to post any actual content at all. I've been stagnated in the same rough number of followers for over a year, there's no reason to think I should even keep this blog active.
(Yes, not being active doesn't help. But I'm not much more active on my omegaverse blog and it has almost twice the number of followers.)
I don't know if it doesn't work because my content isn't good enough or if it's because so few people enjoy lady whump that they don't find me in the middle of so many male/gender neutral whump blogs. The fact that my medium is writing and not something like art only makes it even less likely that people will even check out my shit.
I know you didn't ask, I just wanted to explain why I don't want to share original content on here anymore.
AO3 is way easier than it seems, I was also super confused when I first used the platform. I get not knowing how to use it. I recommend because there's a lot of good whump there and when people tag it properly, it's really easy to find what you want. The tagging system actually works.
Anyway, yeah, I get it. We need more lady whump writings here. I support more people sharing their lady whump stuff. Sorry that I made this long.

VERY interested in creator commentary for the 3rd life webweave (seriously one of the coolest things ive seen made in this fandom, its gorgeously edited AND very funny AND the quotes themselves are all knock-your-socks off material. That Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Line Holy Shit)
Okay so first off THANK YOU that's super kind! It's nerve-wracking posting graphic design that is reconstituted from other sources, bc I've seen it perceived as a 'lazy' or unskilled format, so this is really really encouraging to hear.
I am not a concise person, which is why this has taken so long! I realized as I was initially responding that I was trying to dive into three separate topics:
The actual process I follow, my tips + tricks on making web weaves
Analysis of my 3rd Life web weave
My philosophy towards web weaves and collage as an art form
Only one of those is the question you actually asked, so #2 is what I'll be talking about in this post! However, I am working on a video overview of the other topics, because I think they're worth exploring - I will obviously post that on this blog once it's done.
To avoid jumpscaring anyone with a wall of text, I've thrown my commentary under a readmore.
The one takeaway I'll mention before we dive in is if anyone has a character/narrative web weave request, please hit me up! I have so many I'm working on, having a next topic suggestion is super helpful to narrow things down.
General Creation Comments
I am At All Times collecting images, so it's only a matter of time until I make a webweave for a group/ concept/ person:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(My phone storage is Certainly being utilized. Also I will never be free of making these.)
It just so happened that my Third Life folder filled up fastest/ felt like it was in a good balance to work with, so that's what I started with!
I try to use a mix of text and images, and both serious and funny stuff. Even at its most serious the Life Series is also funny, and it's important to reflect that!
That said, if you compare the jokes I've picked in this piece vs the void falling web weave, you'll notice the jokes on this one trend sharper. The 'How to Detect Misery' and 'How to Tell if it's Over' memes (both from @thatsbelievable, who is a GREAT source of web weave content) are morbidly funny. Surviving horrific circumstances, preparing to suffer, unimaginable violence, eroticism and death, covered in blood - all of the jokes are violent.
As I go, I weed out posts that don't fit, or (mostly) prune text posts out. Too much text ruins the flow, and I LOVE words so I tend to have too much writing and not enough art.
3rd life had only a few things that didn't make the cut, bc I was fairly judicious as I added to that folder, but these were scrapped:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As I added the posts I knew I wanted and split them between panels, I naturally started seeing a 'flow' from early game biomes/bases and the more tender pairings, into violence + devotion, and then ending in.. something. I wasn't sure what I wanted the end to be yet.
I ran out of posts, and knew I needed Wayyy more images to offset the text, so I went looking through the Smithsonian's excellent collection of CC0-licensed art!
That's where I found the Perfect Image - that last picture of the red angel laid low. I knew immediately that it needed to be most of the final scene, with very little obscuring or distracting from it.
Okay, diving into specific panel analysis!
Panel One
It's the beginning, so everything is still fairly light - lots of brown and green tones.
The summary (imo) is that every faction in 3rd Life is in different stories!
Grian and Scar are playing cowboys, an old Western style narrative where they're beholden to each other, out to get the Bad Guys (even if objectively they're the ones being violent little instigators).
Flower Husbands are a greek fucking tragedy, Jimmy's sudden loss and Scott in mourning, trying to cause as much destruction as possible before the gods knock him down too.
Dogwarts are a middle English story of fealty and homosocial bonds and dying for honor.
And the Crastle is like. Shakespeare or Arthur Miller or Stoppard. They are in a theater, they are playing with all of the narratives. Too aware of the trajectory they're on, and entirely unable to stop it.
The images on the first page are the four primary pairings in 3rd Life - top left, in the background of the 'How to Detect Misery' meme, is the desert. The sudden punchline of that meme felt like a good starting point - a creeper-blast of a joke.
The pair to the right represent Scott and Jimmy. I liked the Impressionist and classic myth-inspired stylization. Also, the toga blended near-seamlessly into the desert hill so it looked almost like a wing, implying a tie to angels as well as foreshadowing Jimmy's death AND Scott's partnership with Grian/Scar.
Up in the top right-hand corner is a little Crastle, and the pair embracing on the right side of the page are Bdubs and Cleo. The red hair fit, but it was the old-fashioned clothing and sense of finality that I really liked.
On the left is Dogwarts - Ren and Martyn. I wanted an image that had a very different style, as they were opposed to desert duo + everyone else. I felt the sketchy ink stood out and elicited ideas of worn vellum paper. It felt like a sketch you'd discover sitting in a chest of a long-worn-down enchanting room.
There's a forest and a mostly-occluded castle in the background art on page one, also meant to represent Dogwarts. That forest bleeds into the next page, where the violence really begins.
Panel Two
We've started with a forest, but it's darker than the last one, and wilder.
Bursts of red stand out violently on the page.
'Fallen Angel' is a classic for emotionally fraught blorboposting! There are many, Many Mountain Goats songs that fit, but the way a-doctor-not-a-fangirl paired this line with this painting was striking to me. In particular, I like how 'getting revenge' was something that drove most of 3rd Life, even though Red Lives (come unhinged) were meant to be the driving force of violence. They weren't supposed to have bonds, they weren't supposed to have allies! But it's the bonds that drove the violence.
The 'I heart eroticism and death' cut-out plopped onto the collage was intended to feel like a kind of cheesy tourist stamp - 'I killed my friends in horrible death games and all I got was this lousy t-shirt' vibes.
The 'First off' comment feels like the illogical thought proces all of the doomed players (so, all of the players) were following - "if I just do well enough at murder, this will all be over."
The 'moments of grace' image is probably my most indulgent addition. I wanted a softer, quiet nod to the good parts, to the fun and the joy in between the violence. In particular, the dawn breaking on waves reminded me of the short span Grian and Scar spent tensely placing TNT under sand in the desert. I imagine silent cooperation and the sussuration of sand on sand, and quiet for just a few minutes.
'It's better to know how to let others unmask you and to endure the rule of the game' means: if you are too good, if you survive long enough, you will end up alone. This is about Bdubs and Cleo - kings of roleplay, of being a little overeager and dying for it and getting a mercifully quick ending. It is also about the cactus ring.
Panel Three
The centerpiece of this page is 'G-d's Idea', the beautiful abstract painting of a blood-soaked angel. It makes me insane every time I see it. Grim reaper in mourning kinda guy
I wanted to do something to tie more directly to the end, but didn't want to pull a disembodied-face-in-90s-grad-photo approach to add Scar. So I found a drawing that looked like the Monopoly Mountain build, and carefully added it onto one wing. I really really like this as an addition, it is probably my favorite combination in this post.
The Anne Carson quote is obvs in Minecraft font - I also split up the lines, so that the left and right side loosely create their own sentences/ideas. "There is a theory that watching other people is good for you" and "Unbearable stories may cleanse you of your darkness." I wish I had been more careful with the contrast on 'yourself all', but oh well, we can just call it being difficult to read an experiential facet of the poem.
"Do you want to go down to the pits of yourself all alone?" is a good fucking line, and manages to mirror both the commentary on us the viewers AND the experience of the creators AND the experience of the characters. We get to experience violence vicariously, the creators get to experience it with friends + in safety, and the characters (or character, I should say, just Grian left by the time you're reading this) are experiencing that low point totally alone.
Aside from the obvious fit, the Rosencrantz + Guildenstern lines stand in as a conversation between the viewers and the characters. The appraising description of kiling and dying beautifully makes way for a mournful interruption that no, fuck that, this isn't a game for us (with some obvious irony there).
Finally, I needed it to end funny; the whole thing is already more serious than it probably should've been. I like this joke because it's short, and it implies the aftermath in a comedic way. Picturing everyone spawning back into Hermitcraft, covered in blood, upset, but mostly with a profoundly awkward sense of 'well I fucked that one up. That got a bit more homoerotic than intended, and now every other shopping trip I have to make awkward eye contact with the person I mcMurdered."
Again, thank you so much for your ask and kind words! I'm looking forward to making a general guide video on web weaves one of these days :D

My picks from the June 2023 Next Fest
In June 2023 there was another Steam Next Fest, and I've finally managed to play all of the demos I'd selected.
Keep in mind that these are my highly personal picks; I mostly explored the turn-based RPG category, as I'm currently not feeling up to much direct action, brain-breaking strategy, etc. (And certain genres are so popular that some good demos will be reported on anyway.)
So, without further ado, here are the games that I liked this time around!
The setup for this one is quite straightforward: You play as one of three heroes-in-training and embark on an important quest through the fantasy land of Alteria. Pretty standard stuff, but it stands out in two ways:
Choosing your hero isn't a simple character swap; it's a perspective shift. These are branching storylines and each character has their own challenges to overcome. And because there are choices for you to make, it's interesting to see how you shape your chosen hero compared to the version you see when you're not in control of them.
This is also a very well-rounded experience. Gameplay is smooth and intuitive, presentation is great, etc. I especially liked how efficient the script is; dialogue makes sense and there are no long world-building monologues to be seen. I encountered some bugs, but those were symptoms of an early build and some of them have already been fixed.
Release date: In Early Access by now, 20% off until 12 July
Yes, this is a meme game, and sometimes you can really feel that, especially in the opening minutes. But this game has genuine charm to it. Sure, you die in one hit, but it's also a story about a wimp slowly learning to stand up for herself and work toward her dream. Crazy, but heartfelt at the same time.
As for gameplay: combat is turn-based and takes place on a grid, where each move expels one turn. The tactical challenge is to use positioning and your arsenal to bonk the enemy into submission before they can pulverise you. There's also an element of rhythm to it, as you need to time button presses to bonk your target more.
The beginning can be rough if you're not into the game's brand of insanity, but give it a shot anyway if you can. It was well worth it for me.
Release date: To be announced
A game about a time loop and the effect it has on a person. In a world that's frozen in time, it's up to Siffrin and their merry band of friends to defeat the King and save everyone. Easier said than done, though, and each failed attempt weighs on their spirit...
A really charming game, with clearly-defined characters, good group dynamics, and an arresting art style. The battle system is Active Time turn-based, but what's super fun is the damage types: Rock, Paper and Scissors. Yes, really. You need to analyse an enemy's appearances or their method of attack to figure out their weakness.
It also has a big focus on mental health though, so make sure to check the content warning section on the itch.io page before playing this.
Lastly, I should mention there's a prototype for the game, called Start Again: A Prologue. This is a somewhat short experience, basically a proof of concept that turned into a complete game. You can buy this if you're interested.
Release date: 2023
Do you like tabletop RPGs? Then this one could be for you! You take control of one of six groups of adventurers, each on a pilgrimage for their own reasons. It's up to you to guide them through a dangerous world...with your faithful dice!
I honestly needed more time with the story and characters to really get a feel for if I liked them or not, but the gameplay is, simply put, engrossing. Dice rolls play into every aspect of this game, from exploration to dialogue checks to combat. Playing this game truly feels like a journey full of potential secrets to uncover.
If you decide to try this game, be warned that this is still in development (like all of these demos). I found the UI rather rough to work with. This is being worked on and I'm confident there will be many improvements in this area.
Release date: Q4 2024
I was a few minutes into the demo when I entered my first battle. A big, red WARNING sign pulsed on my screen, and a giant robotic bee appeared out of a sci-fi hell portal. The protagonist hefted her gun, brandished her sword, and sprung into action as the battle theme started pounding in my ears. I grinned.
LunarLux is a prime example of how a strong visual and aural style can immediately capture one's attention. Fortunately, that's not all it has going for it. While the script isn't that tight and the characters seem rather standard for now, the gameplay is just a whole lot of fun.
Although this is a turn-based system, fighting involves timed blocking and grid-based dodging. And there's a factor of resource management as well; you'll need to work out how to go on the offensive without running out of MP and shield charges. This is not only essential to keep yourself alive, but also factors into your battle rating. Want an S-rank on this fight? Then don't get hit.
Oh, and you have a jetpack that you can fly around with. Just to let you know.
Release date: 2023
This one is an interesting recommend from me, as I found myself stymied by a progress-stopping bug 30 minutes into my playthrough. That's a pretty bad oversight, and yet I can't say it soured me on the game. All it did was cut me off, and that's a shame.
This one has no combat system; instead, the primary gameplay loop is about exploration. You can use your tracking skills to find animals in need and befriend them, and you can piece together clues to solve the secrets of the land.
The narrative has a rather standard mystery setup, but what makes it stand out is the setting: ancient India. This lends the game a completely different feel from a lot of other fantasy RPGs. The time period (and great soundtrack) gives everything a mystical feeling, while the location gives us oft-underutilised cultures to work with.
I want to see more of this.
Release date: 2023
Much like Luminera, I need more time with the story to see how it'll pan out; as it stands, the demo is a true vertical slice and just drops you into the middle of things while avoiding spoilers. The characters definitely have some personality to them though; I liked them.
I have no other criticisms; the game looks and sounds great, and because you can climb and swim around, there's more verticality in the environment design compared to most of the other games on this list.
Combat is smooth and fun; it's turn-based, with each of the three characters getting one action per turn, the order of which you can decide yourself. Each action you take also reduces the action counter for each enemy; deplete it to 0, and the enemy will attack. Sometimes they'll have a big attack charged up, and you'll need to hit them with certain damage types to either reduce the attack's power or cancel it entirely. You can also time your button presses for blocking enemy attacks and increasing the power of your own, but this isn't mandatory.
Finally, there are equippable relics that alter the game experience. The demo has two: one makes the game easier, and the other provides clearer feedback for timing button presses correctly. This kind of modular difficulty is great and more games need it. Especially if you consider how many of the games on this list feature timed button presses; great for interactivity, not so great for accessibility.
Release date: 29 August 2023
Last but certainly not least, it's...not a turn-based RPG at all. No, this is a visual novel. But it's a damn gripping one for me!
Your character is a newly-transferred security officer on a small ship: the JFS Gun-Dog. Your mission? Reconnaissance and backup. But of course, nothing is ever that simple; things are afoot. I don't know what things exactly, but I sure want to know! And your character's traumatic past won't make the challenges you face any easier.
There's a somewhat lengthy tour of the ship for character introduction and world-building purposes. Obviously, if you're playing a visual novel, you should expect copious amounts of words. It's just not the most elegant way to handle things. However, I believe the great atmosphere, interesting characters and narrative are worth it, and there were plenty of fun moments during that section.
Note: The Steam page refers to the main character as male, but you can choose your name and pronouns (he/him, she/her or they/them).
Release date: Coming soon
---
That's it for this particular Next Fest! Please give these demos a try if possible.
And remember: If you like what you see, wishlist the game in question! This helps out indie developers a whole bunch.

[Yo, I just want to drop in and spread some love too. I'm super glad that we became mutuals, you have really great taste in muses and you add so much depth to what we already know from canon. Your portrayal goes the extra mile and you really make it your own. I just wish that I had been able to help or do anything for you, so please don't hesitate to bop me when you need someone. You should not feel bad about needing time and space, too- People need to be more empathetic about grief. I really hope that we can continue to explore dynamics with our muses and create awesome threads together! And don't let random bullshit from haters get you down, you are not here for THEIR amusement. You continue doing what you love and enjoy it to your fullest when you can. Your enthusiasm and boundless passion is positively infectious and I'm glad I'm able to be here as a part of that.]

firstly, right back at you! i have enjoyed our conversations so much & find it so refreshing chatting to someone so down-to-earth / so willing to explore darker themes in a mature / responsible way. i love you & appreciate your honesty and just your general vibes. i feel very comfortable just throwing things at you dlsngksdngsl (legit can't wait to see jae and volgin be sickos together - i dont know if this meme is us or them but im putting it here for you to see lmao )
but also, you have helped me. i think, like a lot of others on here, you've helped just by chatting to me. writing with me. having fun with me. like, our dumb little convos (and the serious ones where we both get all antsy and ranty) have helped a lot because it's taken my mind off of things. it's weird because i'm in the stage of grief now where it feels random. like, sometimes i'll be chill and all's good and then suddenly it hits. it's been hard being so...temperamental? sensitive? i think i've felt the need to constantly apologise because i know that there are people who are like 'urgh how dare you post about irl stuff' - personally, i like knowing my mutuals. how they're feeling and what they're up to. i think it's good to be friends with people ( and its fine too if people dont wanna be! ) i've felt in such a confusing and strange place these last few months that my head's been jelly and i guess i've felt apologetic for that. i don't wanna scare people away by cracking up in those moments of sadness.
BUT ALSO, thank you soda. your words are real and they're kind and i take them to heart. writing my boys has helped a lot during this time ( even if my writing has been STINKY ) - kaz's grief has helped me with my own, keeping heid's heart problems has forced me not to censor dealing with that & looking at the others' sadness has given me a weird place to channel my own. i'm glad that like, my writing can be enjoyed by others ( i really hope it is ) because they help me a lot too and i enjoy doing it. i enjoy writing with everyone <3 ))

^ "boyfriends in public" was bc i kept watching couples try to pay for each other at checkout. songs they'd post you to...i kept seeing ppl posting their s/o and said what about Me.
multi-chara post: take a prompt and think of it in different locations! he gives you his jacket? why? because you're outside and it's cold, because you're at his game/set/etc. and he thinks it'd be cute that everyone knows you're dating, because you want to sleep and you can use it as a blanket, etc etc.
^ just start naming random places in ur head and see if anything happens—get more specific as u go! house. kitchen. the walk-in pantry. boom: big party scene and person a walks into the pantry at the sight of their favourite snack, caught by person b who's the host. oh that's a good one actually. woah. LOL
and like,, it's so so cool to just.. do an idea that's been done before. remember that if u as a reader will eat up the same prompt/trope over and over again, that u as a writer can feel happy to write it too!! So Many of my own posts have been done before but i think they're still good in their own way 🤷🏻‍♀️ U writing it rather than someone else means that it'll automatically be special to U.
some prompts / thoughts 4 u to use + get ur brain going!!! ^___^
holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, firsts dance! in the kitchen? at a wedding? is it their first one? are they really bad at it? person a thinks person b is a worker and asks for help and they do! they do Not work at this store though. fogged up glasses person a saving b from an awful looking date / a no show a gets b smth from build a bear with a special recording both going to the movies alone but ending up next to each other. it's a comically bad movie a is asked what their 'type' is and describe b who's listening both cosplaying as a chara part of a duo/relationship, then spotting the other at a con :0 (hurt/)comfort: anxious reader, overworked reader, someone was rude, person a has a nightmare, person a accidentally injures themself and doesn't tell b package left at the wrong door "god the men you put on this earth to hunt and protect are ___" person a, who struggles to initiate physical affection, suddenly initiates physical affection (why? where? are they both flustered?) person a tries slipping a valentine into b's things as a secret, but is caught in the act strangers on an airplane watching the same movie next to each other (bonus: one is re-watching, the other is watching for the first time. the re-watcher pretends they don't know what's going to happen because it's endearing to watch the other) a accidentally reacts to b's ig story or posts the comment they very much did not mean to comment

Not like we're TEN days late
i know, i know. Look, last night was busy. But here we are again. Together. In the soup.
youtube
This level is so nifty! i loved all the little mechanical bits and interactions. Also that you kind of criss-cross through it, being able to see some later sections from early on in the level. Me, i just eat that right up. It feels a little rude to make this one a race, just figuring out how to progress can be a bit of a timesink, tho' i can see that adding into replay value. Like, you play a couple times just to learn what the level expects from you, and then you start making real stabs at a good score. It's weird, because on one hand, that really is good level design, and indicates a certain amount of confidence in what you've made that you believe players will give it that kind of time. On the other, well, it's not really a the other hand, i just think most players won't.
youtube
This is one of those levels that's really cool in concept, but pretty rough in execution. Not really through any fault of the level itself, it's just heavily, heavily reliant on physics, and when things work, it's super nifty, and when they don't, the level just breaks. i had to play three times just to get the duck to land right in that early on bit, and that's nothing i had any real control over, just a watch and hope kind of thing. Also, if i'm being honest, the level does feel just a touch overlong, and i was pretty ready to give up all pretense of getting a good score by around the halfway mark. Still, i super appreciate the ambition, and all the work that must have gone into making it run.
youtube
Gods, i honestly kind of love these attempts to make something scary in early LBP. Maybe because this was previous to the style getting subsumed in meme/copypasta formats. i just like "this is my spoopy ghost hospital wiv guh-guh-ghosts" a lot more than "jumpscare wiv slenderman or evil Sanic." But look at me here speaking from almost 45. i lay you dimes to donuts if i'd been in my young teens around the spoopy-pasta boom in LBP(2? Was that really a big thing in 1?), i'd have been right there for all of it. i was not wivout my edgy pre-teen phase, if you can imagine (and i'm sure you can).
youtube
Exactly what it says on the tin, and a bit more or less. Still, i mean, it's not not cute, you know?
youtube
This is, no lie, an extremely impressive bit of kit for LBP1. Like, it is a solidly designed platformer, wiv a clear design and character aesthetic, that delivers on that promise in a very satisfying way. The biggest issue i had wiv it turned out to be a totally on my end thing. That midboss fight, the one that seems to go on forever? So, some of you might know that my hearing is pretty shoddy. Not, perhaps, needing hearing aids levels, but it's still pretty bad. Rewatching the footage and i finally noticed there's a "damage taken" sound effect from the paintinator kit that plays when you hit those buttons. i didn't catch that at all when playing, so, going purely off the visual cues, i thought you needed to hit the left and right side buttons once to move it to the next cycle? So, like, it pops up, you hit both the buttons, it goes down, repeat three times kind of thing. Really, i could have hit either of the buttons repeatedly to just kill the thing. That kinda sucked. Yo, that final boss, tho'? Beautiful design on that one.
youtube
We talked about Princess Tofu last week. i stand by my takeaway that it is charming and confusing in about equal measure.
youtube
The LBP1 vibes are off the chart wiv this one. It's actually a pretty decent level, all nostalgia aside, tho'. Nothing in here is really too challenging, but there is a lot of it, and it's mostly enjoyable throughout. i love the creator just randomly wrapping up the level wiv a roller coaster, 'cause that was a whole thing for a hot minute. Like tying an onion to your belt.
youtube
This one is super cute, and i definitely appreciated the bright and cheery vibe; but it just goes on for what feels like forever? Also, even tho' there's no risk beyond just losing progress, i kinda hated that bounce pad staircase thing. Just thinking i'd have to do the whole dang thing again if i screwed up, you know?
youtube
i felt salty wiv this one, not gonna lie. The title page claimed it would be a long level. That it would be challenging. It turned out to be a two minute walk through a cave. That wasn't. Even. Cardboard. That's just lying. They lied to me. Rude.
youtube
i feel kind of bad for the creator here. Up on the title page there's a note, like, "this used to be copyable, but it turns out the LBP community is a bunch of thieving shits" (paraphrased). Which, you know, is definitely a mood. It's a real shame making levels copyable so you could share and teach turned into people just repubbing the level wiv their name on it. We really are a bunch of thieving shits. This level's pretty neat tho'. It's a good collection of some relatively simple puzzles and obstacles, and i had a good time throughout. It is fairly drab, seeing as there's a complete lack of decoration, but i can understand that; if the intent was for players to copy this and see how it was put together to make their own versions), the creator wouldn't have wanted too much crufting that might hide how things fit together.
---------------------------------------------------------
So that's that set of ten down. The series has been going for almost a full six months (if you include my backlog, which i absolutely am) on a daily upload schedule, and that's kinda wow? Maybe? i don't know, i have a hard time judging these things, but i'm going to go wiv "a little proud" on this one.
Had a bit of a night out wiv two of my coworkers, and that went mostly well. Honestly far better than i could have expected. Was, i think, the first time i've been to an izakaya since honeybunny and i split back in '18. Definitely since covid has been a thing. It was mostly empty, which, like, honestly, that's for the best what wiv the plague, but also very not an izakaya mood, and kinda extremely lonely. But i had a nice time talking to the two gals, and eating shitty izakaya food, and surprisingly not drinking (the surprising was the enjoying not drinking, not the not drinking itself; it helped only one of us drank, so there was none of that social pressure to have a beer or anything).
The biggest fly in the ointment was, holy shit and no joke, i was fucking exhausted. i'd been dead-tired and beat since i woke up that morning, and the workshift did not help. i ended up having to skedaddle round about 7.30p, and i felt like a bit of a shit, like they might worry i didn't enjoy their company when i actually rather did. But like, when i say tired, i mean like "i am so fucking tired i can't even focus enough to have dysphoria over my stubble" tired. i mean, that sounds nice, the not having dysphoria, but, like, also, not being able to feel my fingertips sometimes and constant yawning, and that's its own socially awkward, and also "if i pass out, people will panic, then how will i get home" legitimate concern.

I know you didn’t reblog an “ask me about my character” meme or anything but I’m curious—-how did you get into Skrulls? What caught your fascination? How long have you had your characters and what gave you your ideas? How have they changed since their original conception? No need to answer if you don’t want, I know I’m probably asking for a novel here!
Flicks cigarette out the got damned window.
Definitely don't think it'll be... a 'novel'. It's gonna be KINDA long, but definitely not 'read more' long. I hope. I wrote this part first, no idea how this is gonna end and I'm not going back to edit this.
Fourteen years ago I think in... June? So fourteern years ago, two months from now, I was living my best life! I was- fourteen? Fourteen, going to school, hating myself, etc. etc. All the hits. All the good ones, all the big ones. And then one day my Grandma came by and was like 'C'MON! We're going out to get Chinese!'
Yadda yadda yadda, we finish eating, step outside. Storefront right next to the Takeout? Comic Book Shop! (Which was closed down when I went back to see it on vacation. Friend told me it closed down a few years ago too. Damn. Anyway!)
Go inside, I'm looking around, I'm looking around. Pick up a Spawn Issue, grab a Batman comic, think it was New 52, might've been Court of Owls, don't really remember, and the- !!! Oh, what's this? Who's this- this green alien man glaring at me? Marvel Omnibus for an Event? Holy shit I've never had an Event OMNIBUS before, this sounds awesome! Who the- What's... What's the 'Secret Invasion'?
And that was fucking it. I read the WHOLE thing that day, all the tie ins included. I went on the internet started looking these little green bitches up. What's their beef? I remember them from Marvel Ultimate Alliance, but- I mean the Super Skrull was just a top-down bitch for me to bully in that game, I didn't respect him! But after reading about their war? Their gods, their struggles, them getting their asses WHIPPED by Norman Osborn?! (Shout out Norman, I see you killing Veranke! Love you, bubbe!)
About a week after I got through the Omnibus I was HOOKED. I was all fucking in, chief. I was ABOUT IT. I can't tell you WHAT it was about the Skrulls that made me sit up and pay attention. Can't tell you what line of dialogue, or what issue, what fucking writer?
My favorite part of Secret Invasion wasn't even the Skrulls! It was T'Challa defeating the Skrull Invasion of Wakanda by his fucking self. HE had the best line in that whole event.
Warskrull Hybrid with Beta Ray Bill, Bullseye, Elektra and Wolverine's powers: You can not defeat me. I have been trained my entire life specifically to kill you.
T'Challa, walking up ready to get to it: Then you have already lost. For I have trained my entire life to defeat the unknown.
WHAT!??! YOU CAN JUST SAY THAT!? TO AN INVADING ARMY THAT HAS SOLDIERS MADE UP OF LIKE... SEVEN OF EARTH'S GREATEST THREATS! AT A TIME!? AND HE WON TOO! He killed the invading force and wrote 'SKRULLS STAY OUT OF WAKANDA' IN SKRULL BLOOD ON THE ROYAL TOWER FOR ALL TO SEE.
Fuck the Skrulls, I want more of THAT from T'Challa!
Anyway, digressing a bit, I have no idea. Truly. I hate Veranke, can't stand her, and she was the only real 'named' Skrull in the event. Kly'bn and S'lgurt's words got repeated a lot, but they were really only there to get fucked up and set in motion some NEXT cosmic event for readers not to give a shit about.
My favorite Skrull in the whole event sort of... disappeared in the middle of an issue and then never reappeared again in canon. Or if he did, I have no idea cause he wasn't in the rest of the event and he's not on any MCU cast lists yet so?
I made the FIRST iteration of the Cosmic Skrull blog in 2015. The first post on that blog was on September 29th, 2015 and it was a picture of a toolbox, because Ana'Hira wasn't supposed to be a GODDESS, or an INFILTRATION EXPERT, she was supposed to be The Mechanic!
She was supposed to be a Sage / Reverse Forge character. She could see something, break it down with her cosmic awareness, understand it perfectly, and then recreate, create specs for it, etc. etc. The original story was:
Eat all her siblings, combine their Power Cosmic with hers, and escape the Crunch.
Get caught by SWORD in a Post-Invasion Climate, be tortured by Abigail Brand personally, get turned into an asset for Earth.
Get broken out of the Peak by the Guardians of the Galaxy. Go DEEP into Space, avoid the empire and their bullshit, live life as a merc!
Had to scrap or rearrange a lot of that for this version of the blog. Cut out all the story parts that had to do with writers I'm no longer writing with and adjust things to account for how powerful Ana'Hira's become in years past.
Making Angela & Beatrice Ana'Hira's daughters instead of her 'identities' is me taking the old iterations of this blog, the characterizations and story beats and compressing them into characters that can still exist and be thrown around, without them being T H E driving forces of the cosmic plot, or whatever that means.
8 years worth of changes, growths, downfalls, regressions. It's a lot! The girlies have been through a lot. Ana'Hira's Primary Terran Disguise used to be a White Woman! I think THAT'S honestly the biggest change.

I love her just as much as I used to... but I actively hate her now too. Make of that what you will.
