allison is THEE most underrated character in hocus pocus. like first the absolute iconic move of just giving max his number back after schooling him on halloween history. THEN being like "yeah fuck my rich parents' party, let's go break and enter into their old workplace so i can infodump about witches." and THEN when the sandersons actually show up?? dani's strategy is to try and play them. max's strategy is to trick them. allison's strategy is to CONTINUALLY BEAT THE EVERLOVING SHIT OUT OF THEM. she knocks mary out with a broom and a frying pan. she whacks sarah with a tree branch. she was totally gonna beat billy as well if max didn't stop her. she's got a batting record of 2/3 sandersons they shoulda brought her back for the sequel just so she could get winifred and claim the full set. also it was HER idea to BURN THE SANDERSONS ALIVE IN AN OVEN and she's grinning when she says it. this girl craves VIOLENCE. the way she throws salt is also sick as hell. in the og script she was supposed to be a descendant of a "white witch" meaning she had some kinda magical bullshit going on with her. also in the canonical book sequel she gives birth to a lesbian so that's bonus points. she is SO cool it makes SO much sense that max was crushing on her so bad how come nobody ever talks about how cool SHE is where are HER blind bag keychains and shitty laptop decals

So I just finished rewatching Hocus Pocus (bc I'm planning on reading Hocus Pocus and the All-New Sequel and wanted to refresh my memory) and honestly, this movie works really well in the Charmed verse?

The strongest point is that the Sanderson sisters are totally evil witches. They betray the Wiccan Rede but don't steal powers, so they remain witches rather than warlocks. They each have a dominant magical power like most witches in the series do. (Winifred has electrokinesis, obviously. Mary has an enhanced sense of smell, which. proof that they're not warlocks bc what power is that to steal? I initially thought that Sarah's was suggestion, but it's actually enhanced allure or luring like the Siren and Darla the succubus.)

Their book, which would technically be a grimoire, has similar magical protections and abilities like the Halliwells' Book of Shadows. Whenever the sisters mention their mother, it's implied that she was also a witch who passed her magic and knowledge on. (You could even theorize that she was a good witch which is why the sisters keep calling their book Book bc of habit from when it was a Book of Shadows.)

Instead of being responsible for their powers or something, they could've made a deal to serve someone who went by the Devil moniker or the master for more power/immortality, especially since Winnie seems to be able to use necromancy like a demonic alchemist.

Additionally, Thackery, while not technically a familiar, may have been acting as one anyways because of his curse. If he interacted with other familiars (such as Kit/Katrina), that might help explain how he learned more about magic in the meantime.

I also have always loved the idea that Allison is actually a witch. There's the way that she's called a "good little white witch" at point in the film, which is admittedly loose evidence but great inspiration. Her mother apparently worked at the Sanderson sisters museum, but it's also been closed down for seemingly quite a while with the amount of dust and cobwebs, so why would she be so familiar with it? It could be a situation similar to Paige's storytime where her mother tells her about it to prepare her in case. Allison's family could be witches guarding the book and candle to keep it from falling into evil witches' hands.

Allison may have not been told that she was a witch bc of the possibility of it skipping generations in her family, but she was still taught that would be relevant. If she did develop a power, I'm actually partial to intuition because a) she sensed something was wrong before they knew that the witches were back which is why they grabbed the salt in the first place and b) she seemed to know that Max was going to do something reckless to his life before he did anything. (None of this is strong evidence lmao, but it's fun.)

Dani would totally become a witch practioner after finding out about it. I don't think Max would, but I think he'd learn a lot about it to prepare in case anything else happened and bc Dani and Allison are into it.

But I definitely think that the film could've happened in the Charmed universe!!

for more information, hocus pocus 2 redraft is a rewrite off of 2022’s sequel of hocus pocus which i didn’t like very much as a big fan of the original. so i ultimately decide to make my own rewrite of the script (tried to format it like it lol) there’s gonna be major changes compared to the original script. i currently did six acts of this from wattpad! act seven might be published somewhere this summer, not sure if i want to published it by late june or early july. either way, you can read it down here by this link:

Allison from Hocus Pocus for character ask

Favorite thing about them: She's a nice, smart girl, with a good knowledge of the occult and witchcraft, and helpful in defeating the Sanderson sisters.

Least favorite thing about them: Well, she's not the most memorable character. None of this movie's ordinary humans make a terribly strong impression, IMHO: they're likable enough, but overshadowed by the Sandersons, Binx, and Billy Butcherson.

Three things I have in common with them:

*I like Halloween.

*I think witches are interesting.

*I'm female.

Three things I don't have in common with them:

*I'm not a teenager anymore.

*I've never helped to fight witches.

*I'm not blonde.

Favorite line:

(My little cousins took that line seriously after they first watched the movie and asked if on Halloween night their grandma would come to visit them. Well, we didn't see her physically, but I did notice a light in their house flashing unusually that night.)

nOTP: Any of the Sandersons or Billy.

Random headcanon: I'm fully on board with the fan theories, which apparently the director has spoken in favor of, that Allison is a (good) witch herself. If only she, Max, and Dani had been included in the sequel, I would have liked to see her finally discovering her powers.

Unpopular opinion: I don't think I have one.
