The International Symposium on the “History and Legacy of Muslims in the Caribbean” organized by IRCICA, OIC General Secretariat, the Government of Guyana and Guyana University was opened by President H.E. Mohamed Irfaan Ali with a Feature Address on 4 September 2023. IRCICA Director General Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç gave an address at the opening ceremony. Moderated by Mr. Al Creighton, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Education of the University of Guyana, the ceremony started with Quran recitation and translation by Hafiz Salih Rahim, and heard the opening remarks of H.E. Mr. Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Dr. Abdullah Hakim Quick, Special Envoy of IRCICA to the Caribbean; Dr. Alhoucine Rhazoui, Director of Cultural Affairs, OIC General Sceretariat, as well as cultural items, consisting of the Islamic Chant in Urdu recited by Mr. Imran Ali, Deputy President of the Muslim Youth Organization, and the Islamic Chant in Yoruba language presented by Mr. Toyib Hamza. A press conference followed the opening session. The ceremony and the working sessions were held at Arthur Chung Conference Center in Georgetown.

Subsequently, the same day, IRCICA Director General Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç was received by H.E. President Mohamed Irfaan Ali for a welcoming meeting. Professor Kılıç briefed H.E. the President about IRCICA’s objectives and activities. Mr. Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, high officials from Guyana, and the IRCICA delegation members, were also present at the meeting. Director General Prof. Kılıç presented H.E. President Irfaan Ali and Foreign Affairs Minister Mr. Hugh Todd with samples of IRCICA’s publications in the series of studies on the Holy Qur’an.

The working sessions of the symposium, spread over three days, were on the following themes:

The closing ceremony of the symposium was conducted with the remarks of Prof. Dr. Aboubacar Abdullah Senghore, Assistant Director General, IRCICA and Ambassador Elisabeth Harper, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Guyana.

On 5 September 2023, IRCICA Director General Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç had a meeting with Professor Paloma Mohamed Martin, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Guyana. The meeting was a fruitful occasion to exchange views on research and education in Islamic studies.

During the symposium period, Director General Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç held contacts and meetings with Muslim cultural institutions and educational organizations in Guyana including the Central Islamic Organization of Guyana (CIOG), Guyana Islamic Trust and the ISA School.

Refutation of Shaikh Muhammad al-Junagarhi (d. 1941 CE) رحمه الله (Urdu Translator of the Meanings of the Quran in Urdu published by KSA) & Ahlul Hadeeth scholars of India, upon the Shirk of the founders of Jamaat Ghuraba (Urdu Book: Zil Muhammadi Pg. 23)

Gentlemen! A treatise called "Zil Muhammadi" aka "Imamat Muhammadi" has been presented before you. This will make the reality of Imaamate Shariah clear to you and the deception of counterfeit & fake Imams will be opened. And ladies, read & save yourself from fake imams & save others too.

Also, the more dangerous problem is their polytheistic incantations (shirkiya mantra aur jantar) for hocus-pocus sorcery (dam jhaadh). This sect is the follower of Maulvi Abdul Wahhab Sahib Sadri & his son Maulvi Abdul Sattaar (as-Sattaar is not amongst the names of Allah). Maulvi Abdul Wahhab continued to publish it for a long time in his life. Finally died without repentance. After him, his son Maulvi Abdul Sattar also has the same attitude. Therefore, read the words of Maulvi Sahib and his son from their scriptures. He sets up a question & then writes the answer himself as follows:

Q: Is it permissible or not, to use the polytheistic words (shirkiya alfaaz) to cure the bite of snakes & dogs etc.?

A: It is not better, yes, if it is necessary for the well-wishing of a Muslim, there is no harm in it. According to saying (Qawl) the Prophet ﷺ

“من استطاع منکم ان ینفع اخاہ فلیفعل”

(Fath) (Saheefa Month of Ramadan Mubarak, year 45)

The title of this book bears the signature of Maulvi Abdul Wahhab as the owner & the signature of Maulvi Abdul Jalil as the editor. And Maulvi Abdul Sattar's signature as Mufti is as follows. Mufti Abu Muhammad Abd al-Sattar Ghafrullah al-Gaffar al-Muhajiri. In this case, these three men agree & participate in these polytheistic incantations (shirkiya dum jhad).

When this fatwa came before the people to read it, people asked Maulvi Abd al-Wahhab that the Ahle Hadeeth and polytheism? Is it not enough to pray for those who have been bitten by dogs & scorpions and bewitched by the verses of the Holy Qur'an & the prayers of the hadiths? From which this man (Janaab) had to accept the curse of shirk?

On this Maulvi Abd al-Wahhab Sahib went several steps further and said thus:

There is no harm if a non-Muslim or a Muslim (who remembers any ruqyah from the age of Jahiliyyah) cures with polytheistic incantations, the one bitten by poisonous animals such as snakes, scorpions, dogs, etc. But this permissibility is not everywhere at all times, but where other remedies are impossible, i.e. where there is no other Muslim person, or if there is, he does not know the Duaa Mathura, or he knows the Duaa Mathura, but is unable to use the Duaa Mathura. So Surah Fatiha is a cure for every disease. Muawadhatayn is a great ruqyah. But the bewitched person whose charm is buried, until these verses are recited on him, there is no benefit until this buried charm is removed. So when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was bewitched, the angels sent by Allah came to him & told him that he was bewitched inside such & such things in such & such a well. So he took out that spell & saw that his hair had been taken & knotted. While reciting one verse of Muawadhatayn at a time, Allah Almighty gave him complete healing.

It is worth considering here that at that time, Jibreel (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) told him ﷺ that magic is buried in such & such a place. But today, when Jibreel (peace be upon him) does not come & tell us, inevitably, a magician who is familiar with this work will have to play with him. And now it is obvious that magicians make polytheistic words & shameful actions, and this thing is forbidden. But it is permissible in case of such helplessness & compulsion. (Saheefah Delhi, Month of Jumadi al-Thani year 46)

Gentlemen! You should carefully look at these words of theirs. Muslims & non-Muslims are being allowed polytheistic incantations (Shirkiya Alfaaz se Jhaadh Phook) to be used, while they are denying healing from the Holy Qur'an. Reciting Surah Fatehah (Al-Hamdu Sharif) & Surah al-Falaq & Surah an-Naas are being called useless, he says that there is no benefit from them. (May Allah forgive us)

On the other hand, they are giving the status of Hazrat Jibreel (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) to magicians.

When Maulvi Abd al-Wahhab's rebellion reached this extent, these scriptures of Maulvi Abd al-Wahhab were presented to the scholars of Ahl al-Hadith by the Ahl al-Hadith people of Delhi and they were asked what they should say about such a person. Do not these passages of the scriptures open the doors of Shirk Allah? Also, what is your fatwa regarding such a person?

On which the scholars gave the above unanimous fatwa that:

"These words are polytheism & blasphemy. Maulvi Abd al-Wahhab should repent & unite with them, otherwise Muslims should cut ties with them."

But the fatwas of these scholars did not have any effect on Maulvi Abdul Wahhab. And they came down to their Maulavit (Priesthood) & remained adamant on shirk.

امام غرباء اور ان کے مریدوں نے شرک کا دروازہ کھول رکھا ہے

حضرات! آپ کے سامنے رسالہ مقالہ بنام”ظل محمدی” عرف "امامت محمدی” پیش کر دیا گیا ہے۔ اس سے آپ کے سامنے امامت شرعی کی حقیقت واضح ہو جائے گی اور جعلی اور نقلی اماموں کا پول کھل جائے گا۔ اس غور سے کل مرد اور عورتیں پڑھیں اور مصنوعی اماموں سے خود بچیں اور دوسروں کو بھی بچائیں۔

و نیز اس سے بھی خطر ناک مسئلہ ان کا شرکیہ منتروں، جنتروں سے دم جھاڑہ کرنے کا ہے۔ یہ فرقہ اس میں مولوی عبد الوہاب صاحب صدری اور ان کے لڑکے مولوی عبد الستار کا پیرو ہے۔ مولوی عبد الوہاب صاحب اپنی زندگی میں کافی عرصے تک اس کی اشاعت کرتے رہے۔ آخر کار بغیر توبہ فوت ہو گئے۔ ان کے بعد ان کے صاحبزادے مولوی عبد الستار کی بھی یہ ہی روش ہے۔ لہٰذا آپ مولوی صاحب اور ان کے صاحبزادے کے الفاظ مشرکانہ ان کے صحیفہ سے پڑھیں۔ یہ ایک سوال قائم کر کے پھر اس کا جواب خود ہی اس طرح لکھتے ہیں :

س: شرکیہ الفاظ سے سانپ و کتے وغیرہ کے کاٹے ہوئے پر دم کرنا جائز ہے یا نہیں ؟

ج: بہتر تو نہیں ہاں اگر کسی مسلمان کی خیر خواہی کے لئے بوقت مجبوری ضرورت کر بھی دے تو کوئی مضائقہ نہیں۔ لقولہ علیہ السلام من الستطاع ان ینفع اخاہ فلیفعل۔ (فتح) (صحیفہ ماہِ رمضان المبارک سنہ 45)

اس صحیفہ کے ٹائیٹل پر مولوی عبد الوہاب کے دستخط بحیثیت مالک و مولوی عبد الجلیل کے دستخط بحیثیت ایڈیٹر کے ثبت ہیں۔ اور مولوی عبد الستار کے دستخط بحیثیت مفتی کے اس طرح ہیں۔ مفتی ابو محمد عبد الستار غفرلہ الغفار المہاجری۔ اس صورت سے یہ تینوں اس شرکیہ دم جھاڑے پر متفق اور شریک ہیں۔

جب یہ فتویٰ عوام کے سامنے آیا اور لوگوں نے پڑھا تو مولوی عبد الوہاب سے لوگوں نے کہا کہ اہل حدیث اور شرک؟ کیا قرآن مجید کی آیات اور احادیث کی دعائیں اور علاج معالجے سے مار گزیدہ اور کتے اور بچھو کے کاٹے ہوئے اور جادو لگے ہوئے کے لئے دم کرنا کافی نہیں۔ جس سے جناب کو شرک کی لعنت اختیار کرنی پڑی؟

اس پر مولوی عبد ا لوہاب صاحب اس سے بھی اور کئی قدم آگے بڑھ گئے اور اس طرح گویا ہوئے :

سانپ، بچھو،کتے وغیرہ زہریلے جانوروں کے کاٹے ہوئے پر شرکیہ الفاظ سے غیر مسلم یا مسلم (جس کو زمانہ جاہلیتس کوئی رقیہ یاد ہے ) دم جھاڑا کر دے تو کوئی مضائقہ نہیں۔ لیکن یہ جواز ہر جگہ ہر وقت نہیں ہے بلکہ جہاں پہ دیگر علاج ناممکن ہے یعنی جہاں پہ دیگر مسلم شخص نہیں ہے یا ہے تو ادعیہ ماثورہ نہیں جانتا یا ادعیہ ماثورہ بھی جانتا ہے لیکن ادعیہ ماثورہ کے استعمال کرنے سے قاصر ہے۔ چنانچہ سورہ فاتحہ ہر ایک بیماری کے لئے شفا ہے۔ معوذتین بڑا رقیہ ہے۔ لیکن وہ مسحور جس کا سحر مدفون ہے اس پر یہ آیتیں دم کیجئے کچھ فائدہ نہیں جب تک اس دفن کئے ہوئے سحر کو نہ نکالا جائے۔ چنانچہ رسول اللہﷺ پر جب جادو کیا گیا تو آپ کے پاس اللہ تعالیٰ کے بھیجے ہوئے فرشتے آئے اور انہوں نے بتایا کہ فلاں کنوئیں میں فلاں چیزوں کے اندر آپ پر جادو کیا گیا ہے۔ چنانچہ آپ نے وہ جادو نکلوا کر دیکھا تو معلوم ہوا کہ آپ کے بال لے کر ان پر گرہ دی گئی ہے۔ آپ معوذتین کی ادھر ایک ایک آیت پڑھتے ہوئے ادھر ایک ایک گرہ کھولتے ہوئے اللہ تعالیٰ نے آپ کو کلی شفا بخشی۔

غور طلب یہاں پر یہ ہے کہ اس وقت تو جبرائیل علیہ السلام اور آپ کو بتایا کہ فلاں جگہ جادو مدفون ہے۔ لیکن آج جب کہ جبرئیل علیہ السلام آ کر ہمیں نہیں بتاتے تو لامحالہ جادو گر جو اس کام سے واقفیت رکھتا ہے اس سے کھلوانا پڑے گا۔ اور اب یہ ظاہر بات ہے کہ جادو گر شرکیہ الفاظ اور شنیعہ افعال کرتے کراتے ہیں اور یہ چیز حرام ہے۔ لیکن ایسی لاچاری و مجبوری کی صورت میں جائز ہے۔ (صحیفہ دہلی، ماہ جمادی الثانی سنہ 46)

حضرات! آپ نے ان کی ان ہفوات کو غور سے ملاحظہ فرمائیں۔ مسلم اور غیر مسلم کا شرکیہ الفاظ سے جھاڑ پھونک کی اجازت دے رہے ہیں ادھر قرآن مجید سے شفا ہونے کا انکار کر رہے ہیں۔ اوپر سے الحمد شریف اور قل اعوذ برب الفلق اور قل اعوذ برب الناس پڑھ کر دم کرنے کو بے فائدہ کہتے ہوئے فرماتے ہیں کہ ان سے کچھ فائدہ نہیں۔ (معاذاللہ)

ادھر جادو گروں کو حضرت جبرائیل علیہ السلام کا رتبہ عطا فرما رہے ہیں۔

جب مولوی عبد الوہاب کا تمرد اس حد تک پہنچ گیا تو دہلی کے اہل حدیثوں کی طرف سے علمائے اہل حدیث کی خدمت میں مولوی عبد الوہاب کے یہ صحیفے پیش کئے گئے اور ان سے دریافت کیا گیا کہ ایسے شخص کے متعلق آپ حضرات فرمائیں کہ کیا صحیفے کی یہ عبارتیں شرک باللہ کے دروازے نہیں کھول رہیں ؟ ونیز ایسے شخص کے متعلق آپ حضرات کا کیا فتویٰ ہے ؟

جس پر علماء نے بالا اتفاق فتویٰ دیا کہ:

"یہ کلمات شرکیہ و کفریہ ہیں مولوی عبد الوہاب کو ان سے توبہ کر کے موحد ہونا چاہیے ورنہ ان سے مسلمان قطع تعلق کر لیں۔ ”

جن علماء نے ان کے متعلق مشرک ہونے کا فتویٰ دیا ان کے نام ہیں :

A title is always written in its original textual form as it is given,for example if someone has been given the title of "Sir" it will be written as "Sir".It cannot be converted or translated into "Honourable" or "Respectable" or "Janab" in urdu.For example Sir Allama Muhammad Iqbal is never written as Janab Allama Muhammad Iqbal.A title is a highly credible noun and never needs a translation,it never changes or not even take identical form or meaning, it is always written as it is.

Now,"Khatim Ul Nabiyeen" is a title.Anywhere in the world whenever this title is written it must be written as it is ,and its real form is just "Khatam ul Nabiyeen".Those who try to translate this title into "The Last Prophet","The Final Prophet" or in Urdu "Akhri Nabi",they are all wrong and going against Shria and Islam.They are all kuffars and are non-muslms.

By altering the narrative of Allah into personal translations they commit serious blasphemy and they must be eliminated.Say,there are thousand languages in the world so every time we write this Quranic title in whatever language it will be written as "Khatam ul Nabiyeen" instead of its translation.Anyone who dares changing Quranic word and only title given to the most beloved prophet of Allah is a blasphemer and should be eliminated.

No one has the right to alter the ayats, verses, words or titles given in the the Holy Quran by Allah.So those who take cover under translations and actually change the true title into a self defined inferior title are blasphemers and they want to run their private religious business.

My Favourite Naat (Or at least one of them)

I hope life's treating you well. I’m Esmeray and I welcome you to this post on my blog Dear Esmeray.

Today I'll be sharing with you my favorite naat. This is the very first one that I learned when I was 7 or 8 years old, I loved it instantly, Still do.

The naat is in my mother tongue, Urdu, hence I'll provide English translation after every stanza.

Here we go, I hope you like it as much as I do.

Zikr-e-Khuda me har dam rehna Sab ke bas ki baat nahi Khwahish-e-nafs se bachte rehna Sab ke bas ki baat nahi

To be ever-immersed in remembrance of the Lord Is not something of everyone's capability. To stay protected from the soul's desires Is not something of everyone's capability.

Deen ke khatir ghar-ghar jana Taif jakar pathar khana Phir bi Duaen dete rehna Sab ke bas ki baat nahi

To go door-to-door for the true religion's sake To be pelted with stones at Taif, And to still keep praying for the stone pelters Is not something of everyone's capability.

[Taif is the place where stones were hurled at the holy Prophet, Peace be upon him.]

Ashab-e-Nabi toh sab ke sab Makhlooq me sab se afzal hai, Siddiq ke jaisa ashiq hona Sab ke bas ki baat nahi

Each of the prophet's companions Are indeed the best of creation, [But] to be an admirer like [Abu bakr] Siddiq Is not something of everyone's capability.

Ungli se ishara chand ke janib Saare insaan karte hain Ungli se chand ke tukde karna Sab ke bas ki baat nahi

Pointing towards the moon with a finger Is something all people do [But] To split the moon with a [pointing of the] finger Is not something of everyone's capability.

Duniya talashi duniya bhar mein Gasht lagate phirte hain Farooq ke jaisa Gasht lagana Sab ke bas ki baat nahi

The world's patrollers, in the whole world, Roam about patrolling. [But] to patrol like Umar Farooq Is not something of everyone's capability.

Usman-e-ghani ka hamsar hona Maal me beshak mumkin hai Zin-nurain ka rutba paana Sab ke bas ki baat nahi

To be the equal of Usman-e-ghani In terms of wealth, is indeed possible [But] To earn the title of Zin-Nurain (Possessor of two lights) Is not something of everyone's capability.

Islam ka jhanda haath mein lekar Haidar aage badhte hain Khaibar pe qabza kar lena Sab ke bas ki baat nahi

With the standard of Islam in his hands Haidar [Ali R.A] marches forward To seize hold of Khaibar [Like Ali] Is not something of everyone's capability.

Ashaab-e-paiyambar Deen ke upar Jaanein qurbaan karte hein Deen ke upar, jaan ka dena Sab ke bas ki baat nahi

All of the prophets's companions, for the sake of Islam Are ever inclined to sacrifice their lives, To sacrifice oneself for the sake of religion Is not something of everyone's capability.

Maarikaa-e-haqq-o-batil to Chalta hi rahega aakhir tak Haqq ki himayat karte rehna Sab ke bas ki baat nahi

This war of truth and falsehood Is an incessant everlasting affair [But] to remain an advocate for the truth Is not something of everyone's capability.

Dushman se badla lene ka Har ek ke dil me jazba hai Dushman ko gale se apne lagana Sab ke bas ki baat nahi

To get even with the enemy Is a fervent desire in everyone's heart [But] To embrace to one's chest the enemy Is not something of everyone's capability.

Ishq-e-nabi ka da'wa toh Asaan bahot hai, Farman-e-nabi par a'mil hona Sab ke bas ki baat nahi

To claim love for the Prophet Is an effortless endeavor indeed, [But] To act in effect the Prophet's orders Is not something of everyone's capability.

Kufr ki aisi zulmat me imaan ka bachana hai mushkil Muslim bankar Hind me rehna Sab ke bas ki baat nahi.

In these conditions of oppression by disbelievers Protection of faith is challenging To remain standing firm as a Muslim in Hind [India], Is not something of everyone's capability.

Letter to our Hindu Brethren

While many Hindu friends are celebrating the building of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, a large section of Muslims are saddened by the turn of events and feel victimized and despondent. Neither the jubilations of one community nor the despondency of another will lead India in a positive direction; instead, a meaningful engagement based on honesty, reflection, and adherence to dharma [deen] is needed. We may take the SC judgment as the starting point in our efforts to make that dream come true. The key observations from SC's judgment are as follows:

SC didn’t find conclusive evidence that the Babri masjid was built by destroying an existing mandir. p 906

“On 6 December 1992, the structure of the mosque was brought down, and the mosque was destroyed. The destruction of the mosque took place in breach of the order of status quo and an assurance given to this Court. The destruction of the mosque and the obliteration of the Islamic structure was an egregious violation of the rule of law” P-914

It further states on P 915:  “The damage to the mosque in 1934, its desecration in 1949 leading to the ouster of the Muslims and the eventual destruction on December 1992 constituted a serious violation of the rule of law.”

While SC's judgment absolves Muslims from the blame that Babri Masjid was built by destroying any temple, it judged that Ram Mandir should be built on that land. To start with, Muslims do not hold any negative view of sacred figures like Rama of Hinduism.There are some reports in Islamic sources that Adam, the first man, was Indian. The Holy Quran emphasizes that messengers were sent to every nation, and by that token, messengers must also have been sent to India.

Based on their analysis of Hindu scriptures, many Islamic scholars have opined that these sacred figures may have been messengers. Khawaja Hassan Nizami, Qasim Nantovi, Allama Iqbal, and many others considered them prophets. Allama Iqbal called Rama “Imamul Hind ''. Imam is an Arabic word that means Guide, Guru, Leader, etc.

The story of Rama as told and retold in Ramayana, later literature and folklore, is that of Tyaga [Renunciation/ fidya], Tapassya [Meditation/Tafakkur], Dharma [Divine Guidance/ Deen], Wachan Palan [Commitments/Aqd], Satya [Truth/Haqq], Nyaya [Justice,/Adl], Agya Palan [Obedience to parents / Birr Al Walidain], etc. It would not be wrong to say that the entire story of Ramayana is built around these values. Please note that the English translation and its equivalent Islamic term are presented in front of each Sanskrit word above. This is to indicate that religions, Hinduism and Islam, are based on these universal supreme values and have lots of commonality at their core.

These values are poeticized in this  Ode to Rama by Pandit Brij Narayan Chakbast. It is in classical Urdu, but hopefully, the message is clear. Quoting this powerful couple to summarize the message:

ruḳhsat huā vo baap se le kar ḳhudā kā naam

rāh-e-vafā kī manzil-e-avval huī tamām

manzūr thā jo maañ kī ziyārat kā intizām

dāman se ashk poñchh ke dil se kiyā kalām

So what do we say to our Hindu brethren?

SC said there was no evidence of destruction of any previous temple to build Babri Masjid in 1528, and repeatedly called the destruction of Babri an “egregious crime.” Yet, not a single person has been convicted for that egregious crime.  Does this situation align with the teachings of Satya and Nyay that Rama exemplified in his life?  

Is it okay to build the current Ram temple on a place that was taken away by false claims that culminated in the egregious crime in 1992? Is it in line with the values taught by Rama? Suppose Rama was present today in person; would he agree to what is being done?

While there are differences, rather some huge differences between the theologies of Islam and Hinduism, there are many parallels. Has the time come to focus on those similarities to move forward?

This letter is not intended to cause hurt to anyone nor intended to generate any type of meaningless debate. Rather, it is to appeal to our brethren to engage in serious dialogue to save our motherland from chaos and take India forward based on these ethical values. 

Lastly, we end this letter with a quote from Swami Vivekananda that may be food for thought for the people of our great nation. 

I see in my mind’s eye the future perfect India rising out of this chaos and strife, glorious and invincible, with Vedanta brain and Islam body. [Letter of Vivekananda]

We pray to our master, creator, cherisher, and sustainer to bless our country and its inhabitants.

The period of learning the Arabic language may vary from student to student, considering their grasping power, dedication, and circumstances. Face-to-face learning with a private tutor is recommended. On average, if you stay consistent, it would take you one and a half to two years to at least master the basic Arabic required to understand the Holy Quran.

1. Purify your intention and pray to Allah to assist you. The aim is to seek Allah's pleasure.

2. If your aim is to study the Quran and Sunnah, learning Classical Arabic (Fusha) is mandatory.

3. Organize and plan. Time management is the key. Stay determined and consistent. Shaytan would try to divert you, no matter what; keep the momentum going.

4. Study under a qualified teacher. Show him or her your passion and zeal. If you're learning through YouTube videos, ask any teacher to be your mentor; they'll show you the way and help you clear your doubts from time to time.

5. Start with the basic books. The most popular ones are the Madinah book series, Arabiyyah Bayna Yadayk series, An-Nahw Al-Wadih, and especially Qissasus Nabiyyeen Lil Atfaal and Al-Qirat Ur-Rashida by Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi.

6. At the beginning, go through the basic books of Nahw (syntax) and Sarf (morphology) written in your mother tongue. This will help you understand the concept early and clearly.

7. Clear your doubts and don't be shy. If a concept is unclear to you, don't move forward; ask your teacher a hundred times until you're confident and convinced.

8. Solve as many exercises as you can. Practice consistently. Allocate a minimum of one and a half hours a day to solve the exercises.

9. Make use of dictionaries. Buy a mini one. Download the necessary ones—I would recommend Dict Box, Almaany, and Reverso Context. (I personally use something like 10 applications)

10. Do not write the meanings in the textbook. Maintain a separate copy and note down in it. The time you take to search for a word, learn its meaning, and pronounce it properly helps to remember it. This will increase your vocabulary.

11. Don't drain your time and energy on unnecessary decoration of notebooks.

12. The topic that requires precise focus in Sarf (Morphology) is Haft Aqsam or الأفعال المعتلة (variations in verb patterns). Once you make your way through this, Sarf becomes trouble-free now.

(The application السراج المنير is useful for Arabic verb conjugation).

13. Memorize the Sarf tables. It'll save you time and help you a lot.

14. The topic that requires precise focus in Nahw is العدد (the numbers). The rules are notoriously difficult—they change every now and then. Be patient. Once you make your way through this, you've crossed the bridge.

15. Read the 'Ibārah (passage) properly. Be proficient at identifying the I'raab—telling what the vowel mark on the last letter must be. I'raab is the end-case analyzer of Arabic sentences. The excellence of one's Arabic language will be according to the excellence of one's knowledge of the I'raab.

16. Translate. Translation is the key. From clauses to sentences, passages to paragraphs, translate as much as you can. Translate the text from Arabic to Urdu/English and vice versa.

17. Listening is the most important factor of all. Listen to a series of Arabic lectures with subtitles; it'll help you pick up many words (Subscribe to the YouTube channel "Scholarly Subtitles").

Move further to listening to Arabic lectures without subtitles (You might understand a word here and there in the beginning, but with the passing of time, you shall be able to comprehend the entire lecture). I'll quote Steve Kauffman; he said, “If you develop good listening comprehension, the other skills will come, the speaking will come, even your grammar, your accuracy. All of these things will come if you have had so much exposure to the language that you understand it when it is spoken by a native speaker.”

18. Reading a lot can ensure that you get the repeated exposure yourself. Until words and phrases are sufficiently familiar, you’re probably not going to be confident enough to use them. Try to speak in Arabic with your counterparts or make friends online who speak Arabic.
