7 Tips for an Organized and Stress-Free Move
Tumblr media
Even if you decide to hire professional movers for your upcoming relocation, you will still have enough to do while they handle the hard lifting. The following advice can help your relocation day go easier, more organized, and stress-free.
1.     Control Your Time
Generally, allow yourself 12 weeks to plan well before the actual moving day. However, others feel at ease moving in after only eight weeks of preparation.
Ultimately, you want to prevent any last-minute annoyances, like your top-choice moving company being completely booked. This unintentionally means choosing a moving company with a poorer reputation, which could lead to unforeseen problems.
2.     Establish a System
Prepare all of your planned materials beforehand. These could consist of binde colorful labels, markers, list-making notepads, tape, etc.
Next, give each box you're packing a number and list all its contents' names in a notebook. Of course, you could also use a chart on the kitchen wall or a spreadsheet.
In addition, you can create a list of all outstanding tasks using a planner app or planner journal. Spread these out across the weeks and days leading up to moving day. Remember to give yourself some extra breathing room for self-care and unanticipated roadblocks!
3.     View Your New Residence
Big, cumbersome furniture that won't fit through their new home's doors or elevator is a typical beginner error that concerns many new movers.
In light of the preceding, create a detailed floor design while keeping the ceiling height in mind and frequently visit the new home. Measure all your current furniture and ensure it can fit through elevators and hallways without damaging the walls.
4.     Pack wisely.
The most effective way to pack your belongings may be to color-code each box according to the room it will be in.
Put a corresponding sticker for each box on the room door to help everyone engaged in the move understand where everything is going. To prevent confusion, you should box and identify everything by yourself or with other home members.
You don't want to spend the extra fee that moving firms demand packing, even though it will make it simpler to find your belongings when unpacking.
5.     Bid farewell
Color-coded boxes make it simple for the moving company, friends, and family members who are transporting the boxes to their final location. Therefore, don't be reluctant to ask your loved ones for assistance.
After all, moving away from your home can be a difficult emotional event, especially if you leave behind relatives or neighbors who have become like family. After a successful moving day, a pizza party or farewell supper with your loved ones will undoubtedly be a wonderful start to your new journey.
6.     Employ A Professional Group
Don't undervalue the value of selecting a reliable moving company. Checking internet reviews or asking friends for referrals may be the best way to locate one.
A trustworthy moving company often won't demand a sizable financial payment upfront. Aside from this, a reliable estimator won't ask many questions about how much of your possessions will be transported to the new home.
7.     Get Coverage
Keep your valuables close to your heart!
Keep valuable jewelry, family heirlooms, and insurance documents close to hand. Understanding the moving company's insurance policy, including the applicable fees and the protection offered at each level, is vital. Read the small print, and don't be scared to inquire!
Last Words
Aside from the countless boxes of furniture and the daunting checklists, this list of 7 suggestions and strategies should be on your to-do list.
Relocating has earned a bad reputation for being stressful, especially because of the unforeseen challenges it entails. You might be stressed out occasionally by a subpar moving company and other times by an unexpected eviction notice. It's crucial to develop the ability to go with the flow whether you encounter huge or minor setbacks.
Follow these instructions while maintaining your optimism and hope in the same manner. After all, this is a brand-new beginning!

I don't think just thinking about my work should cause me a panic attack bad enough to nearly make me faint.
I don't think the work environment that produces that reaction should be considered a good one

rationally. I know my job has not changed at all its just that I have I think become steadily more irritable/mood disordered over the past like. month. that being said I HATE WORKING NIGHT SHIFTS it's like I can't do anything bc I might do too much and get tired and then I still have to go to fucking work. tired. but if I don't do anything before work I get even more depressed bc then it feels like all I do is go to work.

favorite part of work today was when i told the kids to get into two lines, n this one guy was like "i don't want to" n then started talking to his buddy in mandarin, n so then in chinese i was like, "hey, come here."
n he n his buddy looked at each other n then looked at me with like that faintly displeased expression that means they've realized they can't get away with not being that good at english (or feel terribly isolated from n indifferent to the adults bc they don't speak their language) anymore
and then when i told them to line up in mandarin they groaned abt it for sure but they did drag themselves into a line
#i walked in n this one kid handed me a book to read like a big hardcover graphic novel type thing n said i could look through it#so for kicks i started reading it out loud with all the silly voices n sound effects n blocking#and so then obviously the other children started to swarm me and god. kids have so much body heat#n you can feel it bc they have no personal space qwq#n anyway so i led them all to a different corner of the room and ended up reading 15 out of the 16 chapters of the book#out loud to a big chunk of the kids for like an hour w/a 5 min break halfway through for water#and when i came back the kids were organizing the chairs themselves into a semicircle to give me enough space to perform#i was sweating more than i have in Quite A While by the end bc again. children are So Warm n also being dramatic takes energy#the same kid who handed me the book today last year handed me some pokemon cards n i ended up spending all of spring camp#drawing pokemon from cards as references for kids to color n stuff bc i didn't want to go to the computer n print out coloring pages#so! i should probably stop spoiling/“yes and--”ing kids at work w/my nonsense but it gives them smth memorable at least#but also i am so fucking tired today lol i had to leave class as soon as it was done dash home to drop off my jacket n backpack#i didn't even have time to take off my shoes before entering the house so I Did An Unforgivable Sin (walked around w/shoes on)#n then put on my work jacket n dash out the door again to go to my 5.75 hr work shift o(--(#i don't regret it!! i did tell my boss i was free for afternoon camp shifts specifically bc i wanted these shifts even tho timing'd be tigh#successfully taught a kid to tie his shoelaces today though!!!!! what's w/kids n always using the very tips of their laces to mimic you tho#when you are very clearly handling the parts of the laces right next to your foot. it did click for him tho eventually#the worm speaks

Normally I will tip delivery people no matter what, but if the way you're taking shortcuts on the job is endangering disabled people, especially my family, and making their lives harder? Especially if it's directly risking sending them to the hospital? You're not acting in solidarity with us, so I'm not about to act on solidarity with you. I know how hard customer service like that it but it's no excuse to make life hell for people who already have it hard enough.
