To help you plan and approach your big move, here are 15 tips for packing your home more efficiently. Hopefully they will help you save time and avoid damage to your things during your next home move.
1. Decide Whether to go Pro or Pack Yourself
Packing your house can seem a daunting task, so if you don’t think you can get it done in time or would just prefer to leave it to the experts, consider hiring professional packers to pack your home for you.
If you are hiring a professional moving company to move your items, it may be worth finding out how much extra it will be to pack your items as well.
Hiring professional packers can save a lot of time and stress. Professional packers will have quality boxes that are of a uniform size, which means they will stack better in the moving truck. They will know how to pack items efficiently to fill the boxes completely, as well as ensuring that everything is safely packed to avoid any damages to your things.
Yet, packing yourself will save you money. So it’s worth weighing up to decide on which avenue is best for you and your whānau.
2. Use a Packing List
So you’ve decided to pack your things yourself. The first step now is to get a packing checklist to help you plan your move.
A packing checklist will help you remember all the things you need to pack, some time frames around packing your items, as well as things you cannot pack.
Some moving companies will provide you a packing checklist when you hire them for your home move. If you are moving yourself, check online for a packing checklist that you can download such as this one.
3. Buy Your Packing Kit

Day 1 - 15 days of Productivity
Today I woke up at 6.30am, ready to go for a swim but scrolled YouTube shorts until 8am 😤 no worry! I managed to put on my app block, plus the Forest app. For added motivation I had some chocolate that I told myself I could only eat after I'd studied for 60 minutes. It worked, plus I was able to study for 100 minutes afterwards easily.
So far:
348 study minutes
Made a timeline jpeg for my greyhound ban essay.
Put some old documents and rubbish into a trailer that will eventually go to the tip.
Dropped off some boxes to the charity shop.
Made dinner and did some chores.
Didn't finish my essay, but I'm super happy with how it's turning out.
Got some sad news that a friend of mine's dog is going to the vets tomorrow to pass away, was super sad about this. Feel like I need to add this in here - things come up in life at random times that really affect us, and it's good to have a cry about it.
She was beautiful, always gentle, always getting up to mischief even in her old age. I'll miss her.

8 packing techniques for a stress-free move!
Packing to move is scary, more than exciting! We may be in deep joy, but some things have troubled us from the beginning. If you intend to move on, it's a good idea to say so. Let's say you're moving your base from Kota, Rajasthan, and you're not sure how to go about it. In this case, we recommend calling the professional packers and movers in Kota to make everything go smoothly!
Now you will feel a lot of relief and feel more confident that you will get professional support from the best moving experts! But that doesn't mean you're not responsible for good handling and packaging. You would have a lot of things to take responsibility for and the best part of dealing with them would be making a check!
All of that is fine, but what is not fine is a bad packaging process or haphazard handling of the job. Here are our own packing tips (techniques) that you can incorporate into your move to ensure a stress-free moving experience.
• Track large items first: Since we're discussing packing techniques, this finally brings us to the point where we can discuss the best handling tips for managing large, bulky items. So, before you start, list the items that are difficult to handle and note if you have packages for them. List everything—including large furniture, appliances, and other unique items—that you want to pack and move with extra care.
• Strategy before you start: We'll cover compression techniques in this article, but before we get there, let's clear up a few things! Do not include every small and large item in your baggage check. First, analyze and group the objects according to their nature and structure. Large furniture, large appliances and other heavy items in the home should first be carefully evaluated and only those that will be useful in the future should be packed and moved. Consider this method before you decide to pack anything for your move.
• Remember the principle of packing: Packing households for moving is difficult, but with an ideal process, the whole task can be done smoothly. So what you need to do is have an idea of how you want to do it. If you are just sending your belongings for packing, you will have to think about the necessary items soon after the move and then pack them in a separate basket. Put some clothes aside so you can pack them with your essentials and get through the first few days without opening your moving boxes.
• Handle Odd/Unusual Shaped Items: There are many items that are oddly shaped and somewhat unique and you may not feel comfortable packing them. In that case, don't worry because you can always check out the perfect packing tips and tactics to deal with these items. But if you really want to take them with you, read this carefully. Straining your mind unnecessarily and bothering the movers with huge packing tasks would only force you to spend more money to move your home. Avoid it.
• Get the supplies you need for quality packing: packing goods is nothing short of an art. If you don't integrate the right process and take care of what needs to be done, you can take the wrong step and it can damage your assets. So first focus on everything you need to collect in your place. Get different types and sizes of moving boxes. Special items would need special boxes, so keep that in place too! Wrapping paper, bubble wrap, film, mattress bags, vacuum bags, moving blankets, permanent markers, knives, scissors, etc.
• Choose the ideal packing method: when packing the product in moving boxes, pay attention to the weight of the item. Do not make the moving box too heavy. Always place heavy items on the bottom of the box and make sure the weight of the items is evenly distributed throughout the moving box. Professional movers know the perfect way to do this, but when you prepare your boxes and pack your belongings in them, you need to follow the right process to keep them intact until they are delivered to you!
• Different goods, different technologies: Our households are made up of different goods. Some are delicate and light, while others are complex and heavy, and each item requires different handling and different packaging and protection. If you are packing delicate items, make sure everything is wrapped in plenty of bubble wrap or foam board. Even packing peanuts, napkins etc or even worn clothes etc can be used as additional padding. You can search online for the best ways to pack or even talk to your own team of hiring professionals.
• Learn more about quality packing: You'll find several blogs and step-by-step packing checklists that highlight the best ways to pack to protect your valuables and possessions during your move. You can take valuable signals from them and integrate them into your process so that your goods are well protected from external damage during shipment movement. Know which items should be packed directly and which by character and weight. Make stuffing a priority and make sure everything is well protected in moving boxes.
Hire the best movers and packers in Kota for a seamless journey.
