While I was rewatching ROTTMNT, I would swear there were multiple episodes about Leo fighting in the Battle Nexus. Not just that 1 episode at the end season 1. In my memories, that moment was kinda like the beginning for Leo to realize that he was really good at it, he loved the fame, and it would be the 1 thing that he could do (in secret) completely without his brothers nagging at him constantly.

But halfway through season 2, I realized that those episodes would never come and even after I finished rewatching everything, I just thought Netflix didn't have all the episodes for some reason...

So it turns out that about a year ago I've looked at some fanart and animatics that were based of this populair AO3 fanfic named: Like Father Like Son.

Indirectly, an AO3 fanfic made me believe there were supposed to be multiple episodes with Leo fighting in the Battle Nexus...

but what you guys may not know is that I'm also a big fan of botw and modern au Zelink fics, however, take heed, most of these get a little spicy

Like Real People Do by ScarlettStorm: one of the best post-botw fics out there, lots of pining, I absolutely adore how Link's experience with Gender is portrayed, how he and Zelda are both treated as equally traumatized, as sometimes it feels like there's always one troubled one and one caregiver and I can get that for shorter fics but this one is long and beautifully balanced in that aspect. It also gets real horny at the end and in my opinion, it's very tasteful.

Alone With You by @deiliamedlini: honestly this author has a bunch of bangers, I'm waiting for their pirate au to finish so I can binge it all and I reread their Zelink oneshot collection all the time, this one is their modern high school au where Link is kind of a bad boy who is secretly Fucked Up, and Zelda is a popular girl and surprise surprise, they both get along really well. Normally I hate anything that reminds me of high school but this is the only exception. I love how previous characters are included, like how Link knows ASL bc he's friends with Pipit who is deaf and how Revali is a bitch and I still want to strangle him. Also big sister Aryll is a treasure and this fic does such a good job portraying Link's mental struggles and PTSD and how Zelda is being neglected and I'm also a big fan of the overarching plot of medical issues and trauma.

The Calamity of Link's Cargo Shorts by @zeldaseyebrows: I don't understand how someone can make smut so funny and so focused on Zelda's own self-hatred. Seriously though, there's a lot to love with this fic and I adore Zelda's pov. Sometimes you have to have sex before opening up emotionally and that's okay. Also, it's a modern au too, I just realized how many of these are modern aus.

Strangers in the Night by @zeldaelmo: Another modern au, this time Zelda has a kid from a ons with Link and he doesn't know about it for a bit, I just love Link being a dad and how they both work for a museum and there's just something about the courtroom scene that makes me want to reread it over and over again. Sometimes it's hit or miss with family ocs but Tetra is my favorite zelink child ever. All the fics on this list are ones I reread a lot but this one is the one I'm currently rereading bc it's been a few months lol. I love the domestic but also a little dysfunctional vibes, it's definitely not the normal romcom type of thing but I think I like this more.

K.K. Love Song by @airplanned: Again, modern au, pandemic edition. This one in particular has a certain unexplainable soft vibe, like there's some long-distance, Animal Crossing online romance and idk why I like it so much, I guess I was one of the suckers that got pulled in by new horizons when it came out so there's some strange kind of covid nostalgia and it's nice to see how a functional government would deal with the pandemic. Also, Link's grandma is a treasure and there's something sweet about crown princess Zelda meeting some guy on animal crossing and accidentally making him a public figure by dating him. Honestly, this author has a lot of great fics that I reread a lot lmao.

Farore's Day and Windvane Lane by Jenseits_der_Sterne: modern thanksgiving au, Zelda is a quirky scientist single mom and Link is her neighbor. I love Link being a nerd and Zelda being a bit of a disaster. Like she accidentally almost blows up her kitchen and he's just looking on with heart-eyes, after helping her put out the fires of course.

tbh, I'm probably not the best person to go for fic recs as I just find a few really good ones and then reread them till the end of time and rely on other people to recommend me things to read lmao, I hope this was at least a little helpful anyway.

the more time goes on and the more I think that the way communication breaks over the way people criticize totk and why is perhaps the doylist/watsonian dychotomy, but I also believe, from having seen several things, that it also hinges a lot on whether we come at the game relying on assumed authorial vision (Nintendo's) for clarity, or if people follow more a "death of the author" sort of approach (to simplify immensely).

I don't think either model of criticism is ideal to be honest, but I have seen a Ton of people rebutting some of the criticism going "but Nintendo would obviously want to tell a great story about good heroes fighting against true evil, not do [whatever the criticism is]", which assumes Nintendo's intents as what should be extrapolated upon and taken into account first and foremost, while a lot of the critique side is like "this is the game I have in my hands, this is what it reminds me of, this is the connexions I pull from it, and they make me think about X, Y, Z, which I don't think is ideal", and either does assume intents of Nintendo, or leaves Nintendo and the makers out altogether --but still asks questions about why this wasn't considered or adressed while the game was being made.

Which seems very difficult to comprehend for people from the authorial group, from what I have noticed, since their reply is, surprisingly often, "But why would you assume Nintendo wants to do bad?"

And then we're stuck at a stalemate of mutual incomprehension at what the other doesn't get about the point we're trying to make, and I get weird asks and even weirder reblogs.

I'd say Nothing but Skin and Bone, but that might be just because it's longer and I had lot more to plan out.

Honestly, I didn't really have too many hang ups with either- certainly a couple of moments where I was cursing and struggling- but I never thought about giving up and never abandoned them for months during writing, so...

had an extremely vivid dream in the ten minutes after hitting the snooze button in which an impeccably-dressed british tutor with white-blond hair in a somewhat unfortunate haircut showed up at my door. he was very open about being transmasc, and joked about charging me 15% extra for it, but was instantly like "wait no i was joking" when i said "sure!" i showed him around campus, because for some reason i was a) back in college, b) studying... boston?, c) at a campus that looked exactly like my alma mater, and yet which d) was somehow still in texas

the clearest memory i have is of showing him an expansive food court (actually i think it was the cafeteria at my workplace) and him making the absolutely scathing comment about "can't imagine a better campus to get shot on"

so apparently in between hitting the snooze button and the alarm going back off, i met a really cool guy who, with the exception of needing a better haircut (it looked like a bowl cut) was instantly my best friend/potential love interest

She thought these things, she wrote it down for her host to see later, she did everything she could to make that stupid bitch realize who she truly was, but Han Sooyoung was truly cursed to walk in this stupid form until the age of twenty-two. 

She might have projected a little too much onto Yoo Joonghyuk at times. It was the Dokkaebi King who had to hold her back from changing it too much.

“Miss, I do not think Yoo Joonghyuk would yell at the Abyssal Black Flame Dragon about actually being a woman—”

“I fucking know that, dammit!” Sooyoung snapped, before furiously deleting the whole rant the protagonist gave that constellation. In the brief moments it still existed however, it was so cathartic.

was hit out of absolutely nowhere with the memory of this YA book series I read a milennia ago about this girl who has a medical thing where she can't leave the planet during a time when most of humanity has left to colonize the stars. And she wants to be an archaeologist or sm and they operate these machines to dig and I think they discover something about what happened to earth a long time ago and she has to flee from the govt or sm?? I don't even know if I finished the series but I think the first book was called Earth Girl or sm? Did anyone else read this??
