"and then ended up cosmically separated; luz lost her fucking mind for years trying to get back to him" - got stuck with a similiar idea I won't ever make a fic out, but it starts with him saying "That can still be arranged" after that overly dramatic entrance, only to then immediately use the staff to stop the human that is rushing at him (Luz tearing up and sprinting for a hug), becuase she is an enemy BUT ALSO because his armour is scalding hot and he subconsciously wants to protect her.
MMMMMMMM. this is a slightly different premise from the dream but i've been thinking about writing hunter memory loss fic for ages.... there's this art of belos removing & burning hunter's memories of flapjack and luz and the emerald entrails that. Sticks With Me.
the thing that really gets me abt that kind of fic is when the body and the subconscious remembers but the consciousness doesn't.... hunter like i don't know you and you're telling me we're family and i know you're lying bc i Don't Know You but i want So Bad to trust you and part of me is So Sure i can trust you... what gives
there's something So Deeply Compelling about the concept of luz """betraying eda""" and """joining the emperor's coven""" because hunter will only trust her if she's another soldier....
and belos being like 🤨 i KNOW what you're trying to do, luz. & luz being like no no i really am sooooo super loyal i've come around to the whole human supremacy thing for realsieeees granpa 😁😁😁🤞🤞🤞 PLEASE let me be friends with hunter 👉👈 the Right way this time 💕🕯️🙏

i would make fun of belos for managing to possess only people who fucking hate his guts and would do anything to get him OUT of their heads once he's in there but now that i think about it it seems like a deliberate choice... sure, hunter was kind of a coincidence, since he was the only one in the house who ended up noticing the goop on the floor, but it was immediately after all the other kids had just left the house. it's so weird that none of them noticed. we know belos was capable of at least some free movement during that time, since we see him around killing deer and stuff, so i think it's likely he waited to slither out until hunter was the only one there.
and then raine. this one is particularly damning. odalia was literally right there. she'd been one of his most loyal followers since day one, and he probably wouldn't have had to worry about much resistance from her at all. she was willing and ready to prove herself useful, but he shoved her aside and went for raine, the coven head who had been plotting against him behind his back since literally BEFORE they even became head bard. it feels deliberate at this point.
if it was that he just wanted a puppet body he knew couldn't fight back, he could've gone for any of the many puppets in that room at all! any of them that hadn't been plotting his downfall before they were collected! and if he wanted a coven head, terra was right there! adrian was right there! they were both loyal to him to the end. there was literally no reason to pick the one who'd been conspiring to overthrow him since day one. but still, for some reason, he thought raine specifically would prove "quite useful". of course, part of it might be that he wanted to manipulate eda, though... i can't see what for? he's only interacted with the collector so far- he hasn't even attempted to talk to her, and he doesn't even know she's still alive, uncollected. i think he deliberately possesses people who hate him. i think he does it to take a sick revenge- hunter betrayed him, so now he gets to watch as hands that were once his kill his friends. raine's never been anything but a thorn in his side, so now he's making them prove their worth in the worst way possible.

This scene hit me really hard in the gut. But i noticed that Darius’s eyes aren’t green. At first i thought he was just doing that morph thing on his hair all the time for the aesthetic. But his eye’s are green as an adult like abomination eyes. Did his appearance change when he became a coven head to fit the coven he was leading? Does this mean that Eberwolf may look completely different? This does explain why Lillith’s hair is still blue if this change is permanent. And why plant bitch has literal vines(?) for hair.
Belos is literally molding these people into being what he defines them as, non-humans with a power to them. To him, thats their one defining trait, and their whole character.

So the moral of the story is essentially that everyone can be helped through forgiveness and kindness, except for Belos. Cool.
… Odalia and Kikimora might be exceptions as well.

I recently saw a post mentioning how Phillip was wearing Caleb's coat after the newest episode, and I lost it so I can't give credit for it the way I want to and I'm sorry for that.
It made me wonder though. We know that Belos changed his ears to fit in, but how much more did he willingly change? His hair changed from brunet to blond. Or at least lighter hair. It doesn't see to have the same... volume? then it did when he wasn't the emperor.
He's got the same eyebags as Caleb and Hunter. His nose and eyebrows have changed. I can't tell if the face shape has been altered at all really due to the beard.
A lot of this could be age, like the eye bags and hair lightening. And some of it could be his 'curse' making him worse and sick.
But knowing that he was willing to alter his ears? I can't help but think some of it was intentional. And that he's so much worse for it too, because if that's true? Belos could have used his brothers features to fit in better.
Cause Caleb liked the Isles, loved someone in it, and probably started a family there. Philip was a pariah that was already murdering people when Luz met him, and only continued to escalate. He knew he trashed his chance at looking trust worthy, and then moved to look more like someone who did.
