"demon!hob/priest!dream" 👀 (as if I haven't already been tracking this fic on discord lol)

I for one, am shocked by this. Simply shocked! 😲

So, demon!Hob/priest!Dream is like. Exactly what it says on the tin. I did write a little drabble with it, but further blasphemy is needed.

Have a smutty snippet:

“Okay, the priest did nothing but be ― himself, all pretty and everything,” the man huffs, and Dream can imagine the smirk on the other’s face. “But that’s the problem, you see.” 

Dream lets out a questioning sound, looking at the black curtain, face heating up the more the man talks. 

“Have you heard of masturbation?” 

Dream’s face feels terribly hot, brain supplying him with images of that brown-eyed man, prick in his ― “yes,” he says quickly, banishing the image as soon as he realises.

“Just checking,” the man hums, and there’s a thump against the other side of the booth, black curtain moving slightly under the man’s breath. “I was masturbating, as you do, and I kept thinking about that priest,” the man breathes, and Dream’s alarmed to find himself close to the partition, the wooden lattice close as he looks at the man’s effect on the curtain.

“The priest?” He repeats dumbly, moving back to the other side of the booth. 

“He’s so beautiful, so put-together,” the man’s words are darker and Dream shivers, “I do hope he’s had a good fuck, and perhaps I could do that. I could ruin him for all others, make him want only me,” Dream whimpers, cock hardening in his pants and Dream curses himself for forgetting his rosary, knuckles white as he grips his frock.

"the hand that feeds - monsters" sounds interesting 👀

This is the sequel to the Mafia AU (but I may just end up posting it as a second chapter to the original). Warning for violence and a very unhealthy relationship, but here's a little snippet from one of the flashbacks included in the fic:

There's blood on Hob's hands, and the world around him feels slowed to an eerie halt. He can hear nothing but the sound of the knife clattering to the pavement, Dream's ragged breathing, and his own pulse thudding loudly in his ears. He reaches for Dream's face, can't help himself, and vibrant red smears across pale skin.   "Are you okay?" Please be okay, Hob thinks, and then, I love you I love you I love you.  A tremble racks Dream's body. His eyes are glistening wet, pupils blown so wide they're crowding out the blue of his irises, and he's looking at Hob like he's important. Like he's special. "You should not have." Hob tries to laugh, but what comes out instead is something choked off and ugly. "He would've hurt you." "Yes," Dream says, and his fingers in Hob's t-shirt grip tighter. Hob wonders if Dream can feel the jackrabbit beat of his heart through the thin fabric.  "Then I did what I had to, didn't I?"  And that's that.

3: If this work is an update/new chapter, how do you stay motivated on multi-chapter works?

this is a great question for me because i am so often unmotivated haha. but what's helped me is first and foremost only writing when i feel like writing. i can't force words, it's like pulling teeth and i never like what i've written when i force it. and that goes hand in hand with my other motivator which is patience (something i'm still learning lol). the time between my chapter updates is literally getting longer and longer and that bums me out... but for this last chapter i really did need that break. i told myself it was okay to not think about the AU for a while and just focus on irl stuff.

listening to the playlists that i've made also really helps get the creative juices flowing haha, as well as seeing anyone mention the fic. knowing people are still interested in reading helps immensely.

4: What’s the most challenging part about posting new/updated work? Do you find posting stressful or invigorating?

keeping track of my notes and all the details i want to include, contemplating how they will show up again in the future, or how it will be resolved, or if i should include it at all... i've had to push aside several plot points or just fun little moments that i want to get to but realistically won't fit in a a chapter. i have to remind myself that, for BitB, we literally have 16 more shows to go. i will have time to write everything i want.

and for a new chapter, especially this latest one, im always worried about adding too much fluff. every moment, every interaction has reason. and for Bolt in the Blue in particular, im terrified of stagnancy. as we enter each new city, the chapters are going to change. we're not always going to be on the stage. we're not always going to focus on the city, or on Endless, or on Hob even! my biggest fear is falling into predictability, which is almost the opposite of touring lol.

because of all this (and more, i could go on lol) i find posting very stressful lmao. this fic is my baby and i want so much for it to be good. which is why posting new chapters is very invigorating as well. i'm always eager to finally share what i've written. i still cant believe my silly little band au turned into something so many people enjoy <3

4. Do you prefer writing multi-chapter or oneshot fanfictions?

I prefer to be able to write like at all 🥲 but seriously, I think oneshots? I still have a lot of difficulty with figuring out how to distribute a plot through multiple chapters, which is why I tend to have writer’s block after chapter 2 or 3 (Morpheus’ Orchestra and May Dream respectively). I’m still trying to get back to my multi chapter fics, but oneshots currently are my safe place!

7. What’s a trope you love to write?

Idiots to lovers absolutely, people who are just completely oblivious and painfully in love. It’s always a treat to write the moment when they figure it out. Also, hurt/comfort, my sweet, sweet hurt/comfort

Kind of? I have never encountered one and rarely ever had an instance where I suspected I might have so I'm not sure if they really do exist buuuuuut I'm willing to err on the side of caution. So, you'll definitely catch me practising some superstitions just in case.

Eeeeh the Corinthian? Don't get me wrong, ofc he is enticing, but he is also... rather 2-dimensional character for the most part. Stab stab cronch cronch. Evil. We meet him at his late stage murder phase and, idk, I am not that interested in him.

Orpheus! Orpheus! Orpheus!

I feel like there is a small dedicated fandom to Orphy nowadays, but our bodyless son deserves more! What a wonderful character, and how important he is for Dream and his fate.

25. I tend to be very self deprecating about my music taste but at the end of the day I only consider it good when we’re talking about haunting house music. Like what I listen to should only be associated with haunted houses and in that sense it is good.

😺 An animal related headcanon

Hmm, let’s see…I think that Calliope deserves a BIG-ASS DOG. Like, a giant, gorgeous, absolute sweetheart of a collie or shepherd. Big brown eyes full of love for her. The dog keeps trying to sing along with her and it makes Calliope laugh like nothing else.

💝 A headcanon about their love language

Calliope understands the value of being silent with one another! When Orpheus was a teenager, he wouldn’t always know how to or want to express whatever turmoil he was going through out loud, but he’d just sort of linger around her while she’d do her work, and Calliope wouldn’t push him or try to force him to talk. She’d touch him lightly on the shoulder and keep doing what she was doing, just letting him be comforted by her presence.

7. What is your favorite scene you've written so far.

I'm really having fun with what I'm writing for my dirty photos bingo square. I ended up scrapping what I'd written and starting over a few hours ago, but I'm loving it. I blame @aeon-of-neon for rewiring my brain earlier today because now it's nothing but Thirst Over Hob Gadling Hours™. (The scene is Dream going through the photos for the first time, as they get progressively more explicit, and having the biggest Oh moment of his life.)

1 for Bolt in the Blue

1: What inspired you to write the fic this way?

i just kept getting ideas! chapter one to me feels a little disjointed because i had no plans to turn it into the epic it currently is lol. the initial plot was just gonna be Hob staying at the White Horse and the slow burn was going to be more like, Dream and Hob only interact when Endless came to perform there, like a couple times a year maybe. but as i was working on it i realized that was kind of boring and i was like, "you know what's not boring? touring."

so i got chapter 2 going and Hob's lil 3 day getaway? that was supposed to be it. while i was writing ch 2 i was still thinking about going back to my original plan and wrapping up the rest of the slow burn at the White Horse as intended.

but of course i just kept getting ideas on what else could happen while Hob was on the road with Dream. the situations! the sexual tension! my Google Docs file for notes just kept getting longer and longer and after chapter 2 was finished i already had my new plot laid out. Hob would go back on the road and Endless would do a full tour as headliners :)

Dream’s helmet as an “all seeing” device!!!! Come on guys I know the helmet looks funny but it does have an actual purpose. Dream can locate stuff with it, which is the reason why he went after it *before* he went after the ruby.

….Daniel x Hob has grown on me exponentially since reading @moorishflower’s Beautiful, Strange and New. I felt a little disconnected to Daniel when I first got into the fandom, but I think I’m starting to understand the character better and like… it’s giving. I’m not sure what, but it’s giving.
