GEE I HOPE THIS ISN'T MORE FORESHADOWING
GRIDDLES DON'T BELONG IN THE SUN
THEY WILL OVERHEAT
AND MAKE ME CRY
But seriously, wtf is TM planning here. Knowing that John's death will turn off the sun makes it pretty obvious they will have to avoid that somehow. So I'm pretty certain this is not a throwaway line. And I will die if my darling girl ends up stuck in the sun.

Someone make a fake hallmark movie cover/poster/something for this AU it'd be amazing I don't care who does it but someone needs to and the only reason I can't do it myself is that I have no ideas

THANKSGIVING (2023)
Tumblr media
THIS MOVIE IS INSANE!!! That black Friday bananza scene will forever be seared into my head. It's chaotic, gorey, and most importantly, 100% believable. As a Canadian who works in retail, I have this horrible fear of black Friday madness, and every year, I realize it's only slightly busier than usual. This kind of scene is reserved for the U.S., and it is another reason I have no intentions of ever visiting. But anyways, the kills in this film border between ridiculous overkill and seriously horrifying. It was nice to see a horror film not take itself too seriously but serious enough that the film doesn't become like a circus act. The plot twist at the killer reveal was 50% predictable. The identity wasn't too hard to guess, but it's harder to figure the motive. Overall, this film is a nice tribute to 80s and 90s slasher film with the right amount of silly and serious. Truly a must see if you never want to look at an oven or a turkey the same again.

Anteatereatingant
In a stunning turn of evolutionary events, ants finally have their revenge! I do think this giant anteater eating ant is impressive (both in size and design), but boy howdy do I hate that disgusting purple maw between its mandibles. Like god damn why did they have to draw it like that. With teeth?????? Ants do not have teeth. Everything else about this ant is 100% acceptable, just not whatever the hell is going on there. Anyway, as I'm typing this I'm realizing that there's not just three of these giant ants, but a whooooole heap of them in the lower bottom right corner. So this poor, adorable anteater has every reason to be cartoonishly worried that it's about to die after feasting on some much smaller non-anteatereatingants. I do have to wonder how powerful these ants are, as they seem capable of turning the sky an incredibly scary purple.
Rating: 8/10, Unless I focus on the name really hard it just looks like a jumble of nonsensical letters

Yea idk how I haven't shared them here yet but here's some doodles of Tabitha and "Apathy" (she ain't got a name yet), the two protags of my ghost story!
Grieving after the sudden loss of her grandmother, Apathy accidentally becomes bound to the spirit of Tabitha, a young girl who was murdered in the 1870s. Stuck together in unfamiliar circumstances, the two must discover how to send Tabitha on to the afterlife, and if they even can.
UPDATEEEEEEEEE Apathy's name is Naomi :)
#i draw tabitha all cheery usually but she has a very very rough time at the start#very vengeful and confused and inconsolable and angry#as one would be if they were murdered#the first drawing was a couple months ago but the last drawing was from maybe like a year and a half ago?#so they look a lil different#i change their designs slightly every time i draw them lol#but yea i imagine this as an animated series!#its a love letter to the PNW (my home baybey) as well as like. my attempt to utilize the vehicle of horror for character exploration#if u know i love midnight mass and haunting of hill house then the mike flanagan jumps out immediately lmao#tabitha bennett#naomi evans#ghost girl story#i dont have a name for any of my stories either#i thought maybe of calling it 'mortis operandi'#but idk what their usual way of doing things would be to make the modus operandi part of the title make sense lol#also the tagline would be something like 'life after death for those who have lost someone and those who were lost'#so then i thought of calling it something like 'those who were lost' but ghosts are kinda a rarity in this universe so#it feels like that shouldnt be the focus of the title#idk im REALLY bad with titles#i think the character writing for these lil dudes that currently only exists in my brain is some of the best ive done tho#grabs u by the shoulders: talk to me about the irony that tabitha teaches apathy how to feel alive again despite being the one who's dead#my art#ocs

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion but I don’t think having a queer character in your horror movie automatically makes it Queer Horror. And by extension I don’t think a horror movie has to have an explicitly queer character to be Queer Horror. It needs to explore queer themes. I’m tired of seeing Letterboxd lists of “Queer Horror Films” that just feature horror movies that have a gay character in them.

what kind of novel is it you have in the works? (at first i was going to ask the standard "what's your novel about" but that's a bit more restrictive maybe, so please pick whichever question has a vibe more applicable to your project, if you want to respond at all that is)
I could tell you my novel is about x character or x scenario or x trope or x happens in it.
But really, my novel is about hope. About community, adventure, change, and hope. I want someone young and afraid like I've been for a long time to one day read this novel and think, I'm not going to die like this.
To think, I'm not alone. Or, I can save myself. Or, there are good people out there who I will one day meet. Or even, I deserve to be safe and happy and free-- I deserve to have my childhood back.
These are all important and extremely valuable ideas to give both children and adults in impossibly horrible situations, and this novel is by and for survivors of abuse, assault, poverty, homelessness, etc. This will be a novel that says "yeah, you CAN'T always fight and defeat your dragons. But you can run, you can find or make a safe place. There is no shame in doing what you need to do to protect yourself. A lot of stories like this one end in tragedy. But not this story. This is a happy, hopeful story that spits in the face of other stories that tell you you cannot outrun the evil. It's a story that yells NO when told you won't make it, that it's always best to stay with the familiar evil rather than taking a leap of faith. This story is a happy story for unhappy people."
