i finished rewatching kipo season 1 in korean dub... havent watched past that... about to start s2 (prob in og english) for the first time i hope its good pls dont fall off🛐
update im like 1 min in and its fun so HERE WE GOOO (watching in eng first, will prob go back and rewatch in kr later)
If I had nickel for everytime Hosan Lee voices a super kind yet very mysterious greenish haired tall men then I would have two nickels.
I am saying this because I cant help but notice how similar V/Kim Jihyun (Mystic Messenger) and Baizhu (Genshin Impact) are and its not just because they both are tall greenish haired men voiced by Hosan Lee but also because Baizhu's lore somewhat is reminding me of Jihyun. It is not exactly the same and by far we dont really know if he- like jihyun- is actually a morally grey character but their personality seems very similar
And I am gonna admit I think I have a crush on Baizhu. I often thought I actually would have been attracted to Jihyun if he did not do what he did in Mysme. So yeah I love him in a different universe now
Hosan Lee - 나침반 (The Compass) Translyrics [Mystic Messenger: V Route Ending Theme]
Trans used: Official Cheritz translation
Translyrics by: FeignLyics
Slight spoilers for V’s route! Very slight.
Walking through the blazing light of the sun
Stumbling through the evening sparkle of stars
I was met with clouds I had never seen
And I lost myself, unsure where to go
I made loneliness a stand in ally
Then I opened up the heaven-sent map
Round and around my compass had then spun, gently saying
North is where you'll go
Where your dreams died, where you belong
South is where you'll go
Where you first loved, where you belong
West is where you'll go
Where I see you waiting for me
Then I stopped
From this moment on,
There's nowhere to go
Our calls wake the blazing light of the sun
And your message cause the sparkling of stars
My head knew that this was all a mirage
My feet would refuse to take me to you
I made agony a stand in ally
Then I closed my future, stuck in the past
Round and around my compass had then spun, gently saying
North is where you'll go
Where your dreams died, where you belong
South is where you'll go
Where you first loved, where you belong
West is where you'll go
Where I see you waiting for me
Then I stopped
From this moment on,
There's nowhere to go
I raced south, endlessly, wherever my feet would lead
Just to see, how badly, it would make everything bleed
But I found, my sun was an empty globe after all
The compass was just me for as long as I recall, woah
North is where I'll go
With my trauma, I now belong
South is where I'll go
With my obsession, I now belong
West is where I'll go
Where you are still waiting for me
Then I stopped
From this moment on,
To you, I will go
So I wanted to go ahead and make a real post about my highlight of the con, the Cheritz panel. I can't believe I was able to go and I'm so thankful and grateful that it ended up being held this year at Otakon.
So my roommate and I lined up early, as we had learned from the Distant Worlds concert to be at the "larger" events well ahead of time. So we were there in time to be let in for the panel beforehand, the burger panel. Which was silly and funny so it amused us.
I was so excited. I was DYING to talk to any of the fans. I wanted to so badly but my anxiety wouldn't allow it. The sound check started and the main host came out, teased us. My roommate, who was not a MysMe fan but was there to support me, loved the host guy, lol.
My eyes were filled with tears during most of the panel. Either from laughing SO HARD at Ho San Yi (V's va, also spelled as Hosan Lee as I've seen), or just feeling overwhelmed because this app means so much to me.
For me, hearing from the voice actors was amazing. I learned just WHY Zen resonated so much with me. Because he ad-libbed so many of his lines to sound more genuine. So at my lowest time when I couldn't believe in love, his voice and quotes to me helped me through and I can guarantee it was thanks to Jang Kim's hard work (and ego???) to give the most heartfelt portrayal. Shim Gyuhyuk (Yoosung) said he wanted Yoosung to feel like a friend and a buddy and modeled the voice after his younger sister and it worked. Yoosung has always had that friend feel to me, more than the romantic one. So it was awesome to hear that and know his intentions came through. Hearing about how Seven came to be (from Sujin Ri's (Cheritz's founder) own experiences) made me appreciate him more. He's never been my favorite but I understand now why he's the central character and it makes his route so much more meaningful.
Sujin Kang (Unknown) speaking about Jaehee was beautiful and I got the feeling he played the game at least through Jaehee's route. It was cute how he hated Jumin just because of Jaehee, lol. He was the oldest va of the group as well but the other voice actors were fans of his growing up and especially watching Youngsun Kim (707) sitting next to him was a treat. You could really tell how they looked up to him.
Basically, everything was an absolute treat. Obviously a lot of people are talking about Ho San Yi (V) and his closing remarks, "Rika... I hate you!" but he was hilarious the entire time. With his constant "I don't like him" comments and how he just trolled everyone, he was great. He kept the host in stitches and his English was great, very understandable, though I hope he didn't feel pressured to speak in English rather than Korean. The translators were great and you always knew you'd be in for a laugh when they'd look at the voice actors like "Do I really have to say that???" XD
I have a few regrets, namely that I didn't get autographs, and that I limited my purchases at the booth. But the biggest thing was that I never got the courage to talk to anyone. Some of the videos going around were from the people on every side of me. You can hear my laughter clearly in one of them. On one of the official Cheritz pictures, you can see my roommate and my bag and arms (but since I'm short, my tol roommate blocked my head lol). I wish, wish, WISH I could talk to Mystic Messenger fans and maybe make a friend but I couldn't make that first move. I tried. I opened my mouth. But my anxiety held me back.
But the panel was still the highest point of the weekend for me. Every second of it was so worth it. I was playing Zen's route all weekend to build up my hourglasses again and I am going to play V's route again after that because, yes, his va impressed me so much, I have to go through and hear and truly listen to his lines again.
Anyways. That's my rambling. It was an amazing experience that I wouldn't trade for anything. To any fellow MysMe fans, if you weren't there, please watch the videos online. It was so worth it. To those who were there, I hope you enjoyed it as I did. I'd love to talk MysMe sometime. Now I'm going to go write more of my terrible fanfiction! I was inspired.
I realised that all the Mysme VAs voicing characters in Genshin Impact voice mainly Liyue based characters
Shim Gyuhyuk (Yoosung's VA)- voices Xiao
Hyunjin Lee (Rika's VA)- voices Shenhe
Hosan Lee (Jihyun's VA)- voices Baizhu
Jung Hwayang (Jaehee's VA)- voices Chongyun.
Jung hwayang also voicing Signora besides Chongyun might be a small exception but it still doesnt change the fact that all Mysme VAs in Genshin Impact voice Liyue based characters
