Housemaiden Euphrasie finds a dark haired teen with nothing more than the clothes on his back, a shitty dagger in hand, and a handful of Vaugardian and Porterian phrases under their belt. So she gives him a place to stay, among her fellow housepeople at the House of Change in Dormont.

And Siffrin grows up there. He visits the Observatory with her, studies that eternally locked door, takes a few classes and learns about the Change God. He clings to her when there's too many people in the cafeteria or when that one new scientist girl starts flirting with """Euphie""". Siffrin reads so many manuscripts of plays, takes classes to learn other languages and acting courses to occupy time and maybe sometimes he visits other cities to explore other Houses (with Euphrasie, ofc). He can help her see who wished for Vaugarde to be saved, and run away faster than anyone and escape the House when the King arrives. And later he can stumble on that study-all girl, rumored to be blessed by the Change God (how strange!) after helping her growing party defeat a particularly large sadness. Then he can see Euphrasie and panic when she starts to speak nonsense, saying something is broken, failing, rotting, and realize that Vaugarde's intent, as pure as it was, has trapped him in time. And then he can cry when he "shoves" her and apologize and she can just hug him and promise them that its ok!!!! Its all over, its all ok, and she's more than happy to bless them on his new journey.

And Euphrasie!! She cares for Siffrin almost like her own child. He has a family, somewhere, but until they can be reunited... she can be a guardian. She can play favorites just a little when she's nominated and accepts the position of Head Housemaiden (she pretends not to see Siffrin cry with pride). She can teach him, and try to bury the past under the changing future with them. She can tell him about the wishes, and they can wish for a savior from the King together. She can cry and hope that Siffrin escaped, or that Mirabelle was able to save him with her blessing. She can see the broken, rotting, failing wish and Siffrin with tired eyes and an exhaustion in his bones, and know that their past- even just a little- has caught up and it has ruined them. She can see the haze of something familiar take over her and wake up to a viscious shade still in the sky, coming from... Siffrin? She only gets a glimpse, though, before she's out like a light and waking up to overhearing Siffrin talk with his party about continuing to travel. She can heal herself as as much as she wants to hold them close again... they deserve to explore the world with a new family. So when she blesses them, she asks they never forget her and the promise to come back and write letters and they whisper "I love you" before parting ways.

Prologue

I’ve been living a lifetime in a house inside a university complex, with a family of 7.  Although the house is small, we got an enormous campus as our playground. It was a nice place to stay at first. I often rode my bike through the campus’ empty hallways on Sunday morning. The view was green with pine tree tips that lurk behind the campus’ walls. Pine scents blown away by a cold breeze filling the air. Nothing can seemed to stop us kids from playing our heart out. We played rangers, we played cops, we were soaking wet with rain drops, we were covered in dirt. For me and maybe for my three big brothers also, this place was once a heaven.

But then as we grow bigger, our world shrunk. The campus is now become infamous, a mass of stranger infiltrate my heaven. They cut trees to seal ground with pavements so they can bring more bikes. The hallways now emits wi-fi, attract people like bugs surrounding lamps. No more empty hallways on Sunday. no more playground for a grown up kid.

Its a shame that houses don’t grow bigger along with people. We were once guppies swimming inside a fair sized aquarium. Now we guppies had grown into kois, swimming on the same aquarium. Too tight to even breathe. The liveliness of our household in no longer a good thing. Goods multiples as needs piling. Sometime soon we kois gonna become a canned kois.

It’s like the household was not lively enough, we have cats as a pet. The first cat we had is a pregnant female visiting over for a lunch. Then she gave birth to another female kitten, that also become pregnant in less than a year. Thus become the beginning of the never ending evil cat biogeocycle.

A street cat is an uncivilized creature. they prone to bring disease and uncute hunter nature. We don’t even intend to gave them overpriced vaccines, they’re just too many. Handling cat foods was a trouble, let alone cat dirt.

Even so they really enhance the liveliness of our home. Cuteness of a cat justifies every bad things in the world! I am infatuated, I’ve forgotten how a life without cat taste like.

Cat birth rate is dreadful. Cats overpopulated the house. When I past my highschool life they number doubled ours, my life was invaded by cats.

Everyday was a hellish loop of cat treating. I feed them breakfast and dinner when not even I had breakfast at those times. Come weekend was my date with cat sh*ts.

Maybe because we live with cat for too long, the housepeople started to became as uncivilized as a cat. Everything turns into chaos, be it our house, be it our life. They just couldn’t careless anymore. I get the feeling like i am the only one who survive this insanity.

The others give up sooner than me. Well, they don’t even gave many helps from the start but now they ignore me and my cats almost completely. Including one particular person who starts this all, is blinded by boredom. So am I, blinded by hatred and vengeance. I hated the situation so much I unconsiously keeping a distance. Someone had to sides with the cats.

Just like a microorganism growth rate curve, we not so long ago were on a stagnant phase. And now as we trace down along the death phase some of us had to leave. Two of my big brothers’re freed from the cycle. Some of my good cats leaving on their own, naturally. Some are kicked out. Some i released. Some are dead, inevitably, or not.

Cats are innocent, even when they’re running mad shattering glasses and plates. Cats are innocent even when they ruin my bed. Cats are innocent even when they gaze at me. Cats are too innocent to be living such an awful short life, Cats are too innocent to be dead in the hands of human.

My good cat Rufus, Random, Lemon, Zwei, Solembum, Meko, Mocca, were just too innocent i can’t bring myself to let them go.

Watching these cycle of birth and death of cats before me were d*mn mortifying. Having all of those ignorance peoples around me were just…

Sometimes i thought to myself ’maybe i am only being dramatic’. But later I thought, no, I am normal. Its just them, failed to saw through these cats, failed to spent time with them to feel lost, failed to being gazed right in the eye by those round unwavering eyes, failed to touched right in the heart by their (somewhat) caring purr.

I have to release them but I can’t. Those people won’t let me. They called me evil for trying to kick these cats out. Somebody are playing the protagonist. Still can you see this house as a sanctuary? Even when you see beneath the ground there’re bones too little for a human bones. I am, unlike what they think of was not their savior, i am a murderer. I have to release them, at the very least they would not dead before me, so i wont repent. I am the worst.

I’ve had enough of this. My live had been circled around cats, cat food, cat shit, dead cats. The house is to small i can't even keep my room for myself. I had enough. this house cannot seem to contain me any longer, me and my vengeance, all must be freed.
