#how to create calculator shortcut

not pro ai or anything, just curious to know what you think. What is your argument against AI making the art process more accessible to people who can't draw.
Generative AI doesn't make the process of creating art easier or more accessible, it just does the process for you. It's not going to make you an artist. You feeding it complicated prompts doesn't change that. You'd be doing exactly the same thing if you commissioned someone, telling the artist you hired what you want them to make and giving feedback until you got the result you wanted. This is just an automated version of doing that. Kind of like how a calculator can make life easier if you struggle with math but you can't really claim to have math skills if you can't solve even a basic equation without it. And I'll be blunt, I don't really care that much if some random person is using it to make portraits of their OCs or something trivial like that. I think it's a bigger issue when corporations use it to cut back on human labor on a large scale. The reason I don't think it's a good tool for people who want to be artists has more to do with this: If you have an interest in being any kind of a skilled artist you have to actually develop the skill for yourself. If you're invested in the quality of what YOU make then you do need to practice and study. AI may get you results you can't achieve on your own but if you actually want to develop skills then you need to do the labor and make art. No one starts out good at it, some people have better instincts or more of an innate talent but every artist who's work you admire has spent some time studying and most, if not all, of them have drawn outside of their comfort zones, hit walls, experienced burnout, been discouraged and for every 1 good piece they show you there are 10 failures and unfinished WIPS behind it. Art is WORK. Even if you love it, even if you are good at it. And that work is not for everyone. No amount of shortcuts, tools, or supplements can make a competent artist of someone who is fundamentally disinterested in the labor of art. And not everyone is going to be able to learn how to draw well. Just like some people will never be good singers or some will never be good athletes. It's not a moral failing or an indication of laziness to not be good at something. But Gen AI cannot give you what you don't have. It's just a shortcut for hiring someone else to do what you can't.

fun fact about me - i am a total nerd! when i was in middle school and introduced to having step-sisters, my father brought out old 2e dungeons and dragons manuals and adventures. i have been in love with the game ever since. BUT - a sadness - i don't really have a group or anything anymore so now it's just a fond memory. in honor of those memories is this post.

Vedic Astrology Observation (based on shows/films part 3)
Very interesting how Saturn creates literal mental hardships on their natives, which can cripple their self esteem. Sometimes this theme can build or break the victim who is on the receiving end of absolute humiliation and oppression. (This applies to Capricorn, Aquarius and Saturn nakshatras. But I often see Saturn nakshatras being the oppressive figure that ignites fear in others.)
Often times, this dynamic takes place in a stress-inducing environment where the leader is a cold, brutal tyrant. One big example that popped in my head is the film Whiplash, where this cruel music teacher is played by Pushya Moon, J.K Simmons. This teacher takes this one particular student through a journey of humiliation, abuse and degradation to get the 'best results' out of him (when it's also about power imbalance for the teacher). The student being played by Aquarius Sun, Miles Teller.
youtube
Saturn sees this as a process of purification. Through extreme harshness, you become a refined diamond. But does one really have to suffer to achieve success? Mercury nakshatras, especially Revati, is where this theme becomes dismantled. Mercury calculates ways to shortcuts, basically getting ahead without extreme hardship. But it's interesting that a Saturn nakshatra native can adopt a mindset that victimizes oneself just so that the relief of success can be rewarded. The assumption that mental hardship reaps the best results out of a person. This is especially what Uttara Bhadrapada represents, self destruction & self restriction to become more 'elevated'.
Another obvious example of a film about being under a tyrant is Devil Wears Prada. Pushya Ascendant Meryl Streep portraying a ruthless, tyrannical figure who has caused a stressful work environment because of the fear she's instilled in others. And she takes this one employee who she sees potential in, and expects perfection out of her.
The performance of the character being inspired Glenn Close's portrayal of Cruella who is also a horrible, abusive tyrant of a boss who terrorizes her employees. And she's Uttara Bhadrapada Sun.
And another tyrannical, cruel and cold character I would like to name is Sue Sylvester from Glee, who is portrayed by Uttara Bhadrapada Moon and Pushya Ascendant, Jane Lynch (who randomly reminds me of Hillary Clinton who is also Uttara Bhadrapada Moon).
It's so funny that 'The Bear' shows an extremely anxiety-inducing work environment and the main lead is of course an Uttara Bhadrapada Moon. Whose unleashing rage in S1 is compared to Shia Labeouf's temper. And it's important to note that Shia Labeouf is indeed a f/cking Pushya Moon. 😭

youtube
The screaming, stress, fear of failure / fear of small mistakes and especially the humiliation that goes on in the kitchen of this series is so Saturnian themed. The environment being unhealthy and unpredictable, the mental hardship which takes toll on your self esteem. I could immediately link this whole post back to Claire Nakti's Uttara Bhadrapada video which opened my eyes in a big way (as I see endless Saturn nak themes instantly), and in real life I witness how Saturn nakshatra people are either humiliating others or they are on the receiving end of that pressure and humiliation.
Xxx
The Black Mirror episode called 'Joan Is Awful' is very Saturnian.

This character Joan is perceived as cold and cruel, which is not her intention. And she one day finds that there is a series made about her life in a very exaggerated way (without her consent). In the series mimicking her life, Joan is played by Salma Hayek who portrays her very coldly, self-centered and mean-spirited.

I like how Uttara Bhadrapada and Pushya can be interchangeable. (Pushya is ruled by the deity Brihaspati who is literally Jupiter. And Uttara Bhadrapada is Pisces which is ruled by Jupiter. Both nakshatras belong in the warrior caste, which means they're not sweet and soft as they're classified as warriors. And both nakshatras are ruled by Saturn, ofc, so all of this means they have a very, very similar temperament.)
I love to think of how Anya Taylor Joy and Charlize Theron share the same character. Anya portraying a young version of Furiosa and Charlize portraying the version we know in Mad Max: Fury Road.

And also, the theme of Joan Is Awful is the exploitation of the anatomy and life of both women (three, actually), and the humiliation they experience as their exploitation is for other people's consumption. The lack of consent which denies them of rights is very Saturnian.
Actually, it's very similar to another Black Mirror episode called Ashley O, starring Miley Cyrus who is an Anuradha Sun.
A celebrity whose anatomy is exploited for the consumption and entertainment of others, which nearly leads to her death. Saturn nakshatras and Saturn rashis may experience the stripping of one's own identity; they may experience moments where they have to make themselves feel small, where they're completely powerless, where they have to hide, or act a certain way to survive.
Also, I just finished watching the kdrama called Celebrity, and I find it so funny that the main character got called 'Modern Cinderella' because she's romantically involved with this handsome, rich CEO dude who became intrigued with her directness. She literally is Cinderella in how her father died after going bankrupt and her family adapted to a smaller life, but she still has the knowledge to run a business/factory (because her father ran factories) which she benefits from. She becomes belittled, humiliated and oppressed until she decides that to gain power is to gain respect. This particular theme is very Uttara Bhadrapada, but this character is played by Pushya Sun Park Gyu-young.

Again, I believe Pushya and Uttara Bhadrapada are interchangeable sometimes. Also, I love how she social climbs her way on top. Which is also very Saturnian. But it's important to note that the premise of the series is also Rahuvian, and the actress is a Swati Moon which is just perfect.
But yeah this is all I got, thanks for reading <3.

Not sure if anyone's asked you this yet but PLEASE drop the walt/mich essay!!!
OKAY i went crazy and did an actual essay. im not joking this fucker is long. i'd open the read more in another tab, just to warn you.
ALSO ALSO! This was just me sitting down and rambling about things. It's a summarisation of my thoughts, and I pared it down since it was hitting 5k (it's about 4.4k words long lmao). If this essay has you thinking of specific questions and the like, feel free to ask and I'll try to answer them!
Now without further ado, my ramblings below:
THE WALTER/MICHIGAN SHIP ESSAY!
INTRO
That's right baby, I'm giving this an intro and everything. Alright, this essay is all about exploring and explaining my version of the Walter/Michigan ship using the characterisation I gave them for the APV verse. First I'm going to drill down into the individual characters, what makes them tick, their backstory, etc, before finally going into detail about how they mesh together as a ship and why they're both good yet terrible for each other.
THE WORLD LORE
To understand Michigan and Walter, we need to understand the type of world they were born into. Furlong Dynamics is a major powerhouse on the Jupiter colonies, owning several shipyards and carving a specific niche for themselves as the weapon-dealer for interstellar craft. They may not be as well-known or successful as Arquebus or Balam in the defence industry in terms of MTs or ACs, but if you're arming an interstellar craft, you sure as shit are going to use Furlong Dynamics weaponry.
Problem is in post-Fires age, that corner of the market is stagnating due to a lack of new interstellar craft being built. Prior to the discovery of Coral as an energy source, humanity had to do long-stasis and slow-walking their way across the galaxy, which meant trade and the like was incredibly limited between extrasolar colonies. With Coral, however, they were able to make tremendous technological shortcuts to create what they called the "C-Wave Drive". It functions a lot like the hypothetical Alcubierre Drive, with Coral producing the insane amounts of energy required and running the equally insane amounts of calculations needed to ensure the craft doesn't crush itself into a singularity (also, Coral has a very strange relationship with spacetime, the scientists found...). An added bonus as well was that these "C-Wave Drives" required no refuelling.
The interstellar craft needed crude fuel for sublight travel and other functionalities on the ship, but as for long-distance travel? There was no need to make pitstops or set aside cargo space for fuel, so many ships got used to just carrying a small amount that would allow them to travel as needed locally, as it would be easy to refuel when arriving at their destination as and when was needed.
Post-Fires changed this landscape drastically. Overnight, the interstellar craft market was rocked by the realisation that the previously thought limitless and abundant miracle substance that made FTL travel easy and convenient was now extremely finite had them all scrambling. The UEG openly seized every single galactic store of Coral from the corporations, citing "galactic security", and all orders for new interstellar craft - amongst other Coral technologies - instantly halted.
By Young Jupiter time (ten years post-Fires), Furlong Dynamics is beginning to feel the strain. They built their empire on focusing predominantly on interstellar craft - their designs, their weaponry, their engines - and their frantic R&D into solving the energy problem the Coral had shortcutted wasn't going very well. All that could be done was continue to maintain the existing ships that existed, as theoretically the C-Wave Drives could run indefinitely until some sort of mechanical failure happened due to wear and tear. As for new ships, the only ones being built were those utilising the old "slow-walker" engines, which meant bigger, bulkier, slower ships, with less room for ammunition fabrication and storage, and more for stasis compartment and fuel storage. Corporations that had specialised mostly in stasis technologies enjoyed an unexpected windfall, while those like Furlong Dynamic began to languish.
But as they say, shit rolls downhill. With the Corporations struggling to adjust to the Coral shortage and the UEG viciously hording the few galactic stores that remained, the working class found their workload increasing - heavily.
Factories that had benefited from the automation of Coral technologies found themselves in the position where they needed heavy reliance of human productive power. Yet they didn't want their productivity to lower thanks to human limitations, and neither did they want their profits to dent by either hiring too many workers, or paying the few higher wages to make up for the harder work. The few worker protections that had been steadily built up over the past few decades were immediately torn down and rescinded, and the working class were forced to work to maintain the corporations' and the UEG's productivity in their factories and fabrication facilities on basically starvation wages.
So, we have a world that has suffered from a fatal blow to the comfortable status quo. Furlong Dynamics is desperate to try and stem the bleed from their profits that the Coral shortage had started, and the boot has never been heavier on the working class's neck. It's an atmosphere that creates considerable tension within the various stratas of society, and the Jupiter colonies especially - known as the industrial powerhouse of the solar system - have become a bubbling pot. Any socialist talk or gatherings are viciously cracked down on by the corporate and government forces, and the workers are becoming increasingly frustrated and antagonised.
So it makes sense why Walter and Michigan initially have a bit of a rocky start, coming from these polar opposites of society. Michigan, the son of a Furlong Dynamic's director, and Walter, a Rubiconian refugee clawing his way out of the slums.
But alright, world context has been laid down, it's time for the character context. First up:
MICHIGAN - THE PRINCE WHO WANTS TO BE A PAUPER
So, Michigan. G1. Hell On Four Legs. Where did he come from, and who is he? To answer that, we need to look at his family... and Furlong Dynamics' leadership.
Every corporation is unique in its structure and the way it handles leadership. For example, Balam is well-known for its unusual meritocratic selection process for its CEO, though that hasn't exactly escaped the nepotism that pervades the upper echeleons of corporate society. Those with advantageous beginnings normally win the meritocratic race: they just have to work a little harder than most. Furlong Dynamics, however, are upfront about their leadership roles being hereditary.
Five families sit on the board for Furlong with one presiding as a CEO, a role that rotates every five years in a set pattern between the five families. This is a system that has worked for almost as long as Furlong Dynamics had existed (almost 300 years by this point), and needless to say that those five families were old money. They're the equivalent of an aristocracy in a hypercapitalistic galaxy.
One of these families is Rivera, which Michigan was born into as Gabriel Rivera. It was expected of him to succeed his father and sit on Furlong Dynamics' board as a director, so from a very young age he was prepped for this eventuality. His father dictated everything in his life, from his hobbies to what he wore and right down to what he ate. He was drilled in everything to do with business, politics and the interstellar industry, as his father was keen for Michigan to be ready and prepped for when he succeeded him, especially as Furlong Dynamics was entering a critical slump for the first time in its long history due to the Coral shortage. He didn't want his son to be the weak link.
Michigan despised this. He hated the people his father forced him to interact with, he hated the two-faced communication and backstabbing schemes he was encouraged to learn and inflict on others, he hated how boring yet stressful this kind of life was. Contrary to his personality later in life, Michigan was reclusive and anti-social when he was young - a direct result of his father's overbearing and relentless micromanaging - and when possible would hole himself up in his room and escape by watching classical films.
Classical films being... war films and action movies.
Though plenty of media had been lost when Earth suffered from ecological devastation, many had been salvaged throughout the centuries. It had begun from Michigan pilfering from his father's collection, something to put on display and boast about possessing rather than watching, and found himself hooked.
Brave soldiers heroically saving their comrades, taking charge of their destinies, denying fate, overcoming the odds, starting from the gutter and rising to the top from their own merits, making fire-forged friends that were genuine and not shallow transactional facades... this type of fantasy entranced Michigan, giving him a craving that he couldn't quite itch with his luxurious yet empty life. He desperately wished he had been born as some poor bastard whose only option was to join one of the corporate militaries, and distinguish himself by commiting acts of heroism, have people awed by him because of his own merits, and not because he is a Rivera and surrounded by brown-nosing sychophants.
It was a delusional dream driven by an intense desire to escape and forge a genuine connection with anyone, and after years of burying himself deeper and deeper in the propaganda belched out by these old action films (the message of 'war is hell' from the more solemn ones flying miles above his head), Michigan decided: he was going to disown himself and become an MT pilot.
Which he managed. To cut a long story short, Gabriel Rivera became just Michigan, the Rivera name used sparingly and only for legal reasons. He left behind the comfortable executive life to start at the very bottom of the pilot ranks, working his way up with grit and determination, denying any advantages or opportunities that came his way due to his blood or name. He wanted to emulate those heroes that he had watched in those films, he wanted to start with nothing and become something, all with his own efforts, and leave behind the Rivera name and reputation for good.
He started acting more like those gunslinger heroes, loud voice, boisterous personality, easy-going nature and possessing a masculine charm. He's always seeking that big, heroic event, that euphoric moment of victory and achieving the impossible against the odds... but he never really found it. Even after abandoning Furlong Dynamics entirely to jump ship to Balam, he realised that it was just more of the same, his battles against downtrodden workers protesting against their inhumane treatment, or furthering corporate interests over some useless moon in the middle of nowhere. There was no glory or higher purpose - just the company's bottom line.
Michigan started his piloting career as a rich kid craving adventure, naive to the true gritty nature of the galaxy. After decades of piloting under his belt and with an intimiate insight on both sides of the corporate ladder - both at the bottom and the top - to say Michigan was jaded by the time he landed on Rubicon would be an understatement.
He learned that there's no such thing as big damn heroes in this shitty galaxy. All the titles and medals he earned were just window dressings to whatever shitty advertisement his corporate master touted to bolster its reputation or sales. He hated his "Hero of Jupiter" title, and he took great pleasure in launching his "medals" off a cliff and into the ocean like they were frisbees. He hated that in the end his father had been right, that becoming a pilot wouldn't let him run away from the corporate lifestyle, it'd just throw him down to the very bottom and get him trampled
In short, Michigan's a man who tried to forge his own destiny by following a childish dream. His naivety resulted in him being trapped in a life that only had one escape - crawling back to his father and retaking the name Gabriel Rivera - and he viewed that worse than being a corporate attack dog with no real freedom. He'd rather die in some shitty hole in a random ditch somewhere over some pointless resource that meant nothing to him. Was it pride by that point, or stubbornness? He really didn't know.
He just knew that he was just another guy suckered in by the corporations' glitzy and false promises.
WALTER - THE AVENGER WHO KNOWS HE'S DIGGING A GRAVE FOR MILLIONS
Walter, meanwhile, was born to a privileged family of a different sort.
A good few decades before the Fires, Rubicon had done the unthinkable in human history: it had broken away from the UEG and declared independence, becoming a self-sustaining colony with a distinct identity - and able to negotiate with the fuming UEG on equal footing due to its sole access to Coral and its development of the C-weapons. The UEG couldn't take Rubicon or its resources by force (though it surely contemplated it from time to time), and so begrudgingly dealt with them as a peer, legitimising Rubicon as an independent colony and allowing it to forge its own desinty on the galactic stage.
While UEG and its many colonies functioned as a hypercapitalist ogligarchy, Rubicon became a technocracy, with the Rubicon Research Institute having considerable sway over the Rubiconian central government - to the point where it was understood that despite the elected 'president', it really was the Institute that was in charge. This gave rise to the 'intellectual elite', the scientists and academics who ran the Institute - the class that Walter belonged to before the Fires.
His parents were both scientists that worked on the Xylem and lived on-site. They were passionate about their work with the Coral and highly respected within their community, but while they clearly loved Walter, he was always second priority to their research and ambitions. Walter was the only child growing up in the labs (at least, the only one that wasn't a test subject of some kind), and only ever interacted with adults - all of whom were scientists or the security staff. He had never left the Xylem either, his concept of the 'outside world' being the small, sanitised courtyard with the lone tree, and the street he could see past the bars of the labratory's secure and gated exit. While he had some freedom of movement within the facility, there were areas he was barred from entering due to sensitive experiments, or to minimise his interaction with detained test subjects.
As a result, Walter became scarily self-sufficient from a young age, and came across as taciturn or emotionally stunted. He spoke like an adult but struggled to navigate social situations in general, unable to sugarcoat his words and coming across as rude or abrasive when speaking to others. While he found himself occasionally curious about interacting with people who weren't harried scientists that barely tolerated his prolonged presence, Walter genuinely found himself unbothered about his isolation. He was lonely, yes, but he occupied himself well enough, and filled the long stretches of time in furthering his education - determined to become a scientist like his parents and continuing on their work, as what was expected of him.
Then his father began the augmentations and everything went terribly wrong.
His mother volunteered to be Gen Zero, the prototype used to present to the Institute to have the augmentation project greenlighted. Initially, things went well. His mother suffered no significant drawbacks, and demonstrated an incredible boost in mental acuity and calculation power that current neural implants couldn't even begin to compare to. Once the Gen Ones were well underway, however, with a significant death rate at that, his mother began to rapidly degrade, physically and mentally. Walter's last memory of his mother was her unable to recognise him and talking to people who weren't there, knowing that it was the Coral's fault somehow.
His father was driven to perfect the augmentations to ensure his wife's sacrifice wasn't in vain. In Walter's words, he began a carnival of horrors within his labs, killing and mutiliating hundreds within his labs in his pursuit of the refining the augmentation process, with the Institute pumping unlimited resources, funding and test subjects into the project. The glimpse of the future Gen Zero showed them had them eager to achieve that perfection, no matter how many bodies they had to stack up.
It disgusted Walter. While he had never been emotionally close with his parents, he had still respected them, and to see his mother reduced to a crazed husk of herself before dying and his father turning into a monster, destroyed the pedastal he'd put them on. Walter found himself fostering a near irrational hatred for the Coral, rationalising that none of this would've happened if Coral had never been discovered - if it had never existed. He wished, vehemently, for it to disappear.
He got his wish with the Fires.
While the augmentations had made Walter view the Coral with a negative lens, seeing the damage it could do in the wrong hands, the Fires cinched it as a traumatic avatar of destruction in Walter's mind. The Coral was too dangerous to exist in their galaxy, not with how greedy humans could be, and blind to the dangers in pursuit of power. But his motivations weren't noble: he absolutely despised the legacy it represented, how he couldn't hear the word 'Coral' without thinking of his father, his mother, and how everything was robbed from him. It seeded in him an obsession, a hateful, vengeful obsession, because focusing on that, on gunning for a tangible entity that you've vowed to destroy, is far easier to stomach than processing the fact that your life was utterly ruined by selfish ambitions and a freak accident.
Overnight Walter went from part of the very prestigious intellectual elite on Rubicon, to a penniless refugee on one of Jupiter's colonies: Ganymede. It was a shock to the system to find himself in a world where food wasn't simply there whenever he desired it, that shelter wasn't a given, and that clinical cleanliness was a privilege, not a right. He fortunately had Carla with him, though, and while the first few years were rocky, they managed to find their footing by creating a scrapping service in the Ganymede slums, Carla using her previous experience in R&D at the Institute, and Walter his education, to repurpose old tech and mechs or salvage somewhat valuable tech to sell on.
From there, they began to plot, to focus their shared hatred and distrust of the Coral to really make sure it was gone for good, that it wouldn't come back. In the filthy slums beneath Ganymede, with a promise made between two emotionally exhausted yet furious Rubiconian refugees, Overseer was born.
But that's its own story.
Walter's endless conga line of misfortune did well to harden him and make him adaptable to unpleasant surprises. He always expects shit to go wrong at the most inconvenient times, he doesn't trust a single person to do the right thing even if he's known them for years (Carla, who all but raised him, he only trusts to a certain extent), and he realised how hypocritical most people could be. Though he was born as one of the intellectual elite, witnessing and experiencing first hand the oppression and indignity the working class suffered in UEG territories genuinely sickened him - and cemented in his mind that this galaxy couldn't be trusted with the Coral at all.
He had to destroy it for good. He had to make sure it could never come back and hurt anyone else. He had to erase every drop of legacy his shit-for-brains father had built and let history bury him forever. Walter, for all of his outwardly cold and emotionless masks, feels deeply and intently, and all of it is bitter rage.
Walter just doesn't know how to process his emotions well - he was never taught, and he missed those vital milestones with his lonely childhood, locked away in an ivory tower filled with nothing but scientists and test subjects. He feels so much over his father, the Fires, the Coral, but has no idea how to sort through it all. So he stuffs it away. He keeps his gaze fixed on the horizon where his mission to destroy the Coral hangs. He tells himself that once he destroys it for good, it'll all go away: these incomprehensible, heavy and painful emotions. The source of them all will be gone.
Imagine that: condeming millions to death because of crippling, unaddressed daddy issues.
THE SHIP ITSELF
Right, with all that context given, onto the part people really care about: so, why does the Walter/Michigan ship pair well? Or at least, why does APV Walter/Michigan pair well.
Michigan's POV:
From Michigan's side, he's fascinated with Walter. Everything about him just doesn't make sense. He's a 'sewer rat', a working class drone that managed to claw their way out of the muck and elevate his social standing through stubborn grit and determination - but his demeanour belies that. Walter demonstrates a level of education and sophistication that the working class just don't have. Michigan has grown up on Ganymede, and despite the high-ranking executives living in their gated communities and busying themselves with the day-to-day running of their businesses, they do keep an eye on what the working class are up to.
The corporations have perfected subjugation and propaganda to an artform. They can only achieve this if they know their target audience. Michigan knows, as any self-respecting Rivera knows, how the working class tick, their current worries and desires, the statistical trends of their few purchases and which style of propaganda they're most receptive to. Walter fits none of the established norms for Ganymede working class - he doesn't even have a recognisable Jupiter colony accent - so he already presents himself as an interesting puzzle for Michigan to break down.
There's also some genuine respect there too. Michigan acknowledges that Water had to work hard to get where he was, and he appreciates that Walter doesn't mince his words or beat around the bush. He's blunt, direct and isn't in the business of brown-nosing or fawning to ingratiate himself. You always knew where you stood with Walter, or so Michigan felt, and admittedly, Walter reminded him a lot of a certain character achetype in his precious films: the underdog, the guy you ended up rooting for just because he worked so fucking hard for what he wanted.
So, to Michigan, Walter's interesting, he's mysterious, and he's a representation of what Michigan wanted for himself. He wants to be like Walter: a poor as shit refugee making something of himself, with a whole future to distinguish himself and build his own reputation, to forge himself in fire! Michigan is mildly envious, but thinks as well that if he sticks close to him, he'll be able to live vicariously through him, to get a taste of dream he really wanted to achieve...
And because he's so fascinated with Walter, he starts to learn all of his tics and mannerisms too. He begins to understand the minute shifts of Walter's expressions, what he leaves unsaid and knowing when Walter is feeling but just doesn't know how to express or word himself. Michigan is the more emotionally intelligent of the two, and very perceptive despite how he acts. Combined with his easy-going nature and his respect for Walter's hardworking nature and competency, this helped him break through a few of Walter's walls - despite Walter doing his best to rebuild them as fast as possible.
Not to say they don't butt heads: they butt heads a lot. Arguing is their favourite pasttime. They challenge each other, and Michigan knows that he can say whatever and Walter can dish it out right back. Walter doesn't give a shit about any potential ties Michigan may have to the Rivera family - he just gives a shit about Michigan waking him up at 6am and asking him to go running with him. He snaps at him, argues with him, insults him... he treats him as Michigan, and this is what Michigan cares about the most.
Walter's POV:
Meanwhile, Walter's feelings towards Michigan are very complicated. He's irritated by what he sees as Michigan's nosiness towards his private affairs, and he doesn't appreciate him trying to figure him out. Mostly because he doesn't want him figuring out his true identity. Walter wanted to sever any and all ties between him and his father's legacy, and he and Carla took great pains to have no one realise that he was the famous Dr Kohler's son. And the disowned heir of the Rivera family? Definitely in the best position to connect the dots.
But Michigan's also the first person to ever just... treat him normally and roll with his verbal punches. People are usually scared away by Walter's cold attitude and sharp words, but Michigan gave as good as he got, and always shrugged off Walter's meaner comments. It left Walter at a bit of a loss, and after a while he slowly desensitised to Michigan's presence. He rationalised that it's just pointless wasting energy trying to chase off Michigan, but the fact was he... ended up liking his company. He had no idea socialising could be so enjoyable, once you learned to tolerate their more aggravating parts.
There's also a colder and more pragmatic side too: Michigan is useful to him, as a son of an executive, disgraced or not. Walter is aware enough to acknowledge that a small chunk of his tolerance is proportional to Michigan's use for him, but in his mind he sees it as an expected part of their relationship. It's transactional, what they share (or so he tells himself). He offers entertainment to Michigan, who in turns offers the same - and lets Walter take advantage of the few perks being "friends" with an executive's son offers.
He tells himself he can't get attached - he has his mission after all - but by this point Walter's good at ignoring his feelings and burying himself under six feet of concrete denial. He clings to the rationalisation that they're just "friends with benefits" for years, that from the beginning they were only making use of each other - there wasn't really anything there. Even to him that sounded hollow when he finally cut ties and left, to pursue his hopeless and doomed mission. He never really stopped thinking about Michigan, the what-ifs.
He hated it.
...
Also they both share a hatred of their respective fathers, so they Get That. They're part of the Dads Suck club.
CONCLUSION
So basically........ they're gay, your honour.

FTL travel in the Spiral
So for FTL travel in this setting I didn't want to just use some alternate hyperspace shortcut dimension, and the bullshit that J. J. Abrams got up to with treating FTL travel like an instant go-literally-anywhere button in The Rise of Skywalker prompted me to set down some hard rules for how it works in this setting. So here's a post about how FTL works in Calico Spiral.
FTL travel comes in two forms: Foldgates, and Transit Drives.
Foldgates are massive (like, on the scale of the protomolecule ring from The Expanse) rings that permit instantaneous travel over interstellar distances using artificially generated worm holes. Unfortunately due to the immense power requirements and gravitational forces used in doing so, these gates tend to be out at the edges of inhabited systems to minimize any potential damage from some sort of catastrophic malfunction, so anyone using them is still going to be flying for a while just to get there, and then to reach their destination on the other side. Also each gate can only connect to one other gate at any given time and switching connections is a whole process that nobody wants to deal with if they can avoid it, so if your system doesn't have a direct gate connection to where you're trying to go you may have to take a few gate trips in order to reach one that does. Also, not all systems even have Foldgates.
Fun fact, it's generally thought the the Oumaa originally developed the Foldgate technology, and all those subsequently built by the other races were reverse engineered from abandoned ones left behind when their empire collapsed.
The Transit Drive is a ship-based form of FTL travel; basically an Alcubierre Drive in all but name. This means it works by creating a sort of bubble around the vessel (or object) it's mounted on and contracting the space in front of it while expanding the space behind it, allowing for acceleration many times the speed of light. And since this produces no felt acceleration on the ship itself, it's able to do so without instantly liquefying its occupants. Unfortunately this also means thrust gravity doesn't work under Transit, so unless the ship is big enough to have rotating hab sections that means Transit journeys are spent entirely in zero-G. Since the vastness of space means a long Transit journey can still take weeks or even months, many Transit-capable ships are also equipped with cryopods so the crew can just sleep through it while the ship's computer takes the wheel.
Other limitations of the Transit Drive include:
Maneuvering under Transit is impossible, so in order to change course a ship must drop back down to sublight speed and then reenter on a new heading.
A ship colliding with something while traveling at hundreds or even thousands of times the speed of light would be, needless to say, very bad.
A ship leaving Transit produces a blast of radiation as it sheds all the cosmic particles that have accumulated on the front of its bubble like bugs on a windshield, with the size of the blast depending on how long they've been traveling. Because of this ships are forbidden from dropping out inside inhabited systems, so, again, you've gotta start at the edge and fly in on your fusion drive.
Relating to the above, that also means that making a stealthy entrance is...difficult, to say the least, since anyone at your destination is going to know you've arrived days before you even get there.
Transit course calculations have to be very precise, since even the slightest gravitational influence from passing too close to an astral body can throw a vessel way off course.
While artificial gravity (besides that produced by engine thrust or centripetal force) may not (currently) be possible in this setting, they are able to generate it at much larger scales, which means that if somebody were to plunk a gravity generator along a vessel's known Transit path, that ship's computer would read it as a rogue astral body and automatically drop out to course correct, at which point the ship could be disabled or destroyed.
And that's how FTL travel works in Calico Spiral. Fuck you, J. J. Abrams. Learn how hyperspace works you dipshit goober.

There's this tendency in some science fiction to go all retro or put stops in some technology, ironic for such a genre. Even myself am guilty of it with Campoestela (different for the Biopunks). It's because the future is coming too fast and it's tiring to keep up. It really is.
Science Fiction, at its core is about "stories where science and technology change human life", at least, that's the definition I treat it with. The thing is, there's so many technologies changing us, so fast, that it's just impossible to keep up. In the 50s, you could keep up, for example, with space rockets and atomics. You could imagine a future where things were mostly the same, except with rockets and nuclear stuff. In 2023, you have to imagine rockets, AIs, climate change, biotechnology, nanotechnology, demographic and social crisis... I mean, you had to consider that in the 50s, too. But the pace of technologic advancement is so fast right now, that you just can't keep up. To create a world that it's just "like today, but with X", doesn't make sense anymore.
And then you just want adventure. You just want the space adventure thing, and fucking Mars and Venus suck, so you have to go to other stars to get your fix, and you don't care how. You want A Guy to go to strange new worlds and meet aliens and have moral dilemmas about it, without caring too much, if at all, about the technology to do so, and how it changes society. And that's not longer, in a way science fiction. You might as well give him magical sailboats that go through the aether (I have, in a couple projects, done just that). You might as well explain it with magic.
But that's not who I am. I despise the "it's magic lmao" shortcut.
I am here, calculating the delta-V and the space infrastructure necesary so that A Guy can be a space trucker. It's fun to me. To build a world, fantastic, but wholly coherent.
#cosas mias#there's a lot about the space adventure kind of science fiction that is fed by orientalism in the 'adventure' genre and manifest destiny#but that's for another post#science fiction

Hello again! Thank you for your post that covered my question on what sources of inspiration you used for Athena. It was super enlightening!
I know this is a tall order because the myths are broad, but could you discuss what aspects of characterization and dimensions you feel are often ignored about Athena? This is me practically begging for a meta post, but I genuinely love hearing your thoughts on her because I agree with your assessment that roughly most media tend to lean to simplistic aspects of Athena. I like hearing from your inspiration notes that you thought of Athena’s childhood with Pallas and how she is more of a pragmatic character that has agency.
I have a lot of thoughts on this so this post won't be as comprehensive as I originally intended, I will be briefly covering the points I want to list out. I try my best to base my writing of Athena on the canon source material, but there will be aspects that veer into my own interpretation/headcanon territory. All Iliad passages here are from the Robert Fitzgerald translation.
Anyway, here are the aspects of characterization I think are normally ignored when authors write Athena.
Her calculating nature / intelligence
This one sounds weird because it's paradoxically the first thing that comes to mind when writing Athena. The issue with this is the same issue when amateur authors try to write characters who are smarter than them: They resort to cheap shortcuts and stereotypes to show a character is "smart".
Examples of this would be the overusage of chess imagery. It's a game that wouldn't exist in Ancient Greece anyway, and it's a measure of spatial memorization rather than strategy. In real warfare, everything is variable to change. Chess pieces don't have motivations or biases that could influence their actions. Opening moves in chess have their counters, but real-life tactics allow you more freedom on how to engage with it.
The next writing shortcut people resort to re: Athena's intelligence is how they use her reading books to show she is "smart" but don't really elaborate on what kind of books she reads of what topics she specializes in which is already in the mythos that can give you lots of ideas.
I mentioned this before but when I started TGC I had a hard time characterizing Athena at first because I didn't understand her domains too well. So you know what I did? I picked up books about military history, Ancient Greek laws, political theory, philosophy, and similar. Learning about these things gave me a perspective of "how would the personification of the state act if they were a person?". Ancient Greece was big on the Social Contract, as exemplified in Socrates's speech in Plato's Apology.
There's a lot more to it, I'm not doing it justice at all in this post. But that's the idea. In the Oresteia, Athena created the practice of cross-examination for murder trials, and then immediately proceeded to undermine the entire justice process by attempting to bribe the prosecution (the Furies). In the Iliad Book 4, she disguises herself as a Trojan soldier to trick Laodokos to shoot Menelaus to break the ceasefire-- essentially enacting what we in modern day would call a False Flag Operation. It's so quintessentially Politician(tm) of her to do.
Athena's intelligence comes from how she seeks to improve and make efficient current systems, like her strategy to Ares's warfare. Or her various inventions in mythos. Another one would be her ability to manipulate people and situations to push for the outcomes she wants. You can see this in her various dialogues in the Epic Cycle:
Athena grifting in the Odyssey in a speech she makes to Zeus about why she should be allowed to assist Odysseus.
520: Athena kept the pace behind them, bearing her shield of storm, immortal and august, whose hundred golden-plaited tassles, worth a hekatomb each one, floated in air. So down the ranks that dazzling goddess went to stir the attack, and each man in his heart grew strong to fight and never quit the melee, for at her passage war itself became lovelier than return, lovelier than sailing in the decked ships to their own native land -Iliad Book 4
and this
100: “Son of Lykaon, I have in mind an exploit that may tempt you, tempt a fighting heart. Have you the gall to send an arrow like a fork of lightning home against Menelaus? Every Trojan heart would rise, and every man would praise you, especially Paris, the prince— you would be sure to come by glittering gifts if he could see the warrior, Menelaus, the son of Atreus, brought down by your bow, then bedded on a dolorous pyre! Come now, brace yourself for a shot at Menelaus. engage to pay Apollo, the bright archer, a perfect hekatomb of firstling lambs when you go home to your old town, Zeleia.” That was Athena’s way, leading him on, the foolish man, to folly. -Iliad Book 4
from what I can understand, Athena's domain of wisdom is not just limited to giving insight to people-- but also in obscuring the truth and leading others to their ruin. Which is in line with one of Athena's epithets which is Απατουρια (Apaturia) "Deciever".
Often times in other adaptations, they relegate Athena's intelligence to spouting random facts or a "nerdy" personality. Or they nerf it so that she doesn't solve these braindead plots in 2 seconds. Take Athena from Lore Olympus for example, the Athena of canon would've never allowed any of this shit with Persephone and Apollo undermining Zeus to happen TT_TT if you have to make your characters stupid for the story to work, then it is a bad story hands down.
2. Interpretations regarding Athena's relationship with heroes
This is something I see a lot where Athena is written to have a personal investment in her heroes like they are "her blorbos" (actual words I've seen people on this hellsite use for this). I'd like to direct your attention to this passage from of Athena speaking in Iliad book 8.
My father, now, is full of a black madness, evil and perverse. All that I strive for he brings to nothing: He will not remember how many times I intervened to save his son, worn out in trials set by Eurystheus. How Heracles would cry to heaven! And Zeus Would send me out of heaven to be his shield. Had I forseen this day that time he went down, bidden by Eurystheus, between Death’s narrow gates to bring from Erebos the watchdog of the Lord of Undergloom, he never would have left the gorge of Styx!
The way I understand this passage is that Athena does a lot of "NPC questgiver" tasks for Zeus in an attempt to curry favor from him. It's a calculated choice on her part and not something she does out of the kindness of her heart. A similar situation occurs when Orestes asks Athena for aid, she helps him on the insistence of Apollo.
Regarding Odysseus, I'm sure there is some fondness she has for him-- but that doesn't stop her from allowing him to be struck by storm (as collateral damage for the crimes of Ajax the lesser for raping Cassandra in Athena's temple). Or from her setting up the suitor problem so she could convince him to murder them all.
If you've noticed, all of Athena's champions are some kind of high-ranking warriors. A king or general or prince. You would think that the goddess of wisdom would favor the philosophers more, or would choose more often to avoid violence. But Athena is very quick to choose violence, it's who she is. And she needs a tool that she can use as a blade.
(these are my interpretations, if you disagree thats fine) 3. Athena as a "peaceful" goddess
This one makes me laugh and also drives me insane.
There are two Homeric hymns that directly and clearly contradict this idea.
(HOMERIC HYMNS 5 - 33, TRANSLATED BY H. G. EVELYN-WHITE) a. The Homeric Hymn to Athena
Of Pallas Athene, guardian of the city, I begin to sing. Dread is she, and with Ares she loves deeds of war, the sack of cities and the shouting and the battle. It is she who saves the people as they go out to war and come back. Hail, goddess, and give us good fortune with happiness!
b. The Homeric Hymn to Aphrodite
...Yet there are three hearts that she cannot bend nor yet ensnare. First is the daughter of Zeus who holds the aegis, bright-eyed Athene; for she has no pleasure in the deeds of golden Aphrodite, but delights in wars and in the work of Ares, in strifes and battles and in preparing famous crafts.
What I find insightful about the second one is that it gives a specific reason for why Athena cannot be moved by romantic love. It's because war occupies the space in her heart that love would normally be. Both hymns specifically name drop Ares, so the idea that Athena finds Ares's violence to be repulsive is just blatantly untrue. If anything, she adores it. The time it would become an issue for her is when his rampages act against her greater interests, which is the source of all their duels in canon.
Other proof for Athena being generally violent can be inferred from her characterization in the Iliad, the instances of which are too numerous to list here.
4. Athena's personality defined by her lack of childhood.
I mentioned this in another post, but Athena was born from Zeus as an adult (though in TGC I changed this to being born as a pre-teen. This is intentional and serves a purpose). What we know about psychology today is that for normal social and emotional development, young children need to form an attachment with at least one primary caregiver. Athena being born as an adult means that she would've missed out on important development milestones that other gods would've gone through.
I will preemptively say that before you bring up the "theyre Gods they're not like humans" that as far as mythos is concerned, the way that gods behave and think is almost exactly identical to that of humans. They experience the same range of emotions humans do, as well as grief and trauma. So I will consider that their psychology is also the same with the difference being that they might experience mental degradation not typically seen in humans because of cumulative negative experiences over a long period.
Back to Athena, the only framework she would have to start from literally being born yesterday would be the fragments of memories she gleaned from being inside of Zeus's head. I think this would be confusing for her, as these are from the first-person perspective of Zeus, so using his memories but lacking context for those experiences might lead to an early identity crisis. Athena would then have to play catchup in learning extremely fast everything to fill those blanks.
This is why I think Athena has a hard time forming personal connections. She doesn't have a true equal. Athena's relationships are defined by power imbalances and transactions, and that is how she understands relationships in general to work.
5. Athena's humanity.
I think what bothers me the most about Athena in adaptations is the lack of humanity given to her character. I know I just went over why she's a manipulative machiavellian character, but what I see is that Athena often gets relegated to the Unfun Stick in the Mud character. She exists to ruin the fun of the Fun Chaotic Dudes Dionysus, Hermes, and Apollo. She doesn't have anything going to her except being a snitch and a daddy's girl, or worse, she exists to be "put in her place" by other male gods. This is why I really dislike Fedini's and "incorrect greek gods" take on Athena. I think there's this underlying biases that an ace-coded goddess can't have anything interesting about her, because all media on tumblr and fandom these days are broken down to fucking shipping instead of seriously engaging with the source material. I've seen people call her a Mary Sue or act like she is an annoying bitch for exhibiting personality traits that would be praised in a male character (the traits of a Byronic Hero).
Portrayals of Athena go one extreme or another, either she is a wholly Good goddess or she is a Villain/mere annoyance. It's a real shame to see, because I hope I can show you now that she is a wonderfully complex and morally grey character. I want to see Athena's curiosity and how she tries to understand the world from her own perspective. I want to explore her relationships with Zeus and her siblings like Ares and Apollo outside of the Meme'fication of Greek mythology.
Anyway, that's all I can think of for now, I hope this answers your question. If you have any point you'd like me to explain more, I'd be glad to make another post in greater detail.

Well because many people don't have people in their life willing to read through and discuss their art, specially when it's something like RPF or smut. They also might not feel comfortable to, or want to be constantly asking someone to the point its tiring. I have done the "Ok this is where I want to take the story can you tell me what you think of these 3 next plot points I have here and which works best for this emotion i am trying to achieve" with chatgpt and more recently with an irl friend that isn't even in the fandom, and of course the best conversation was with my friend! I'd do it all the time like that if I could, I love engaging with people through what I write or create. And yes, I wouldn't die if I suddenly couldn't use chatgpt to have these discussions, I could still think in my own head through the plot etc, but sometimes it does give you a perspective you hadn't considered.
Gen AI for better or for worse (for worse) is trained in crearive content scrapped from other people. So when it gives me a response like "you could use this moment or trope", it's not much more different than reading a book or fic with the same trope and getting the inspiration to weave it into my own work. Except that yes, as you say, it's a shortcut.
And I agree there's a lot to be said about wanting everything to be faster, immedeate, no love for the process. Writing is much more enjoyable when you do engage fully with the process yourself, pressing ctrl + c, ctrl + v will not be enjoyable besides the immediate reward that will fade away.
That's why I do like the quote I said in the last anon, in which I think that it's a flawed approach to see art as something gen ai can solve.
But I still stand by the fact that it can be used as a good tool (albeit yes a non ethical one for how it's trained and ran). That being said: It shouldn't be the only tool, you shouldn't rely as much on it. It will make you happier NOT to rely on it.
And people in the past didn't need it to create art but there's many things we don't need yet still use. A calculator, a phone, etc because they facilitate things. (And yes we shouldn't overly rely on these other things either)
i think fundamentally we'll have to agree to disagree on what our ideas of chatgpt's use in a creative process are, and that's okay! if chatgpt is genuinely one of the methods you enjoy using then that's great for you, and i'm happy it's working. as i said, my previous response wasn't really aimed at you, moreso a reflection in general
#ask#i do respectfully disagree with your point about calculators - i think art is different#but i think i've yapped enough about AI for one day

@Kittehxx Right so: Paint and Ink are not mechanically different.
There are two models of color: additive (RGB) and subtractive.
Computer screens and stage-lighting are additive color: Paint and ink are both subtractive color.
Thisswhisktoyou is definitely wrong to use subtractive colors in an computer art program instead of on a palette, but the advice to use CMY over RYB is somewhat sound.
Starting with why RYB is still getting taught:
1. It is the older model dating back hundreds of years to at least 1766 and was a long standing and perfectly cromulent model with a significant amount of institutional inertia behind it.
2. RYB and CMYK models are, and people's gon' get mad at me saying this: literally the exact same thing. RYB is not wrogn: CMYK is just a technically specific variation on RYB.
From wikipedia: "the term primary color [are] three exemplar colors as opposed to specific pigments."
That is, in RYB, Red, Yellow, and Blue are not meant to be taken as specific pigments such as cadmium red, cadmium yellow, and ultramarine blue. Rather, RYB are the general categories Red, Yellow, Blue, and the model describes what happens when you combine them. A Red and a Yellow give you an Orange. Which Orange?: Well that depends on which red and yellow you use, but it will be Orange. Same for Green and Purple. The category of secondary colors can be created by combining two examples from the categories of primary colors.
All CMYK is, the only difference twixt, is that it takes that descriptive model of colors and prescribes a precise and specific red (magenta), yellow (yellow) and blue (cyan). That prescription is based on our improved understanding of how the human eye sees color, optimized to give the greatest visual range using the fewest discrete pigments; but, it is fundementally still a red, a yellow, and a blue.
It also includes Black for convinence, which is the secret third reason RYB persists.
3. Painting exclusively in CMY is a pain in the fucking arse.
Yes, CMY gives you the fullest access to the colors humans can perceive, in the fewest number of pigments: and that's fine when a printer is automathmagically doing all the calculations on the combinometric ratios.
But, when doing things by hand, CMY as pigments are awkward to use out of the tube and it is just less work to just use more convinent if technically non-primary pigments as shortcuts.
Like, in an especially active painting period for me, I will over the course of a few months churn through two large tubes of Ultramarine Blue, and one large tube of Cadmium Red. That is 600ml of paint, or just under a quarter gallon in yankee imperial measurements.
If I needed to precisely measure the ratio of cyan to magenta to yellow and premix that much paint just to get approximately the correct color. I might burn down my local art supply about it.
It is so much more convient to use Cadred and Ultrablue out the tube, and use my knowledge of cyan and magenta to adjust the colors as needed than it is to do everything from scratch.

Top 5 Reasons to Choose Taxi Services in Coimbatore Over Ride-Sharing Apps

Introduction
In today’s app-driven world, ride-sharing platforms dominate urban transportation. But in cities like Coimbatore—where local knowledge, timely travel, and reliability matter most—traditional taxi services are making a major comeback.
If you’ve ever been stranded during peak hours, overcharged due to price surges, or dealt with unprofessional drivers, you’ll understand why Taxi Services in Coimbatore are a better fit for many daily and long-distance travel needs.
Let’s explore the top 5 reasons why you should consider choosing these trusted local taxi providers over global ride-share apps.
1. No Price Surges or Hidden Costs
One of the most frustrating aspects of ride-sharing apps is dynamic pricing. The fare can suddenly double or even triple during rain, festivals, or office hours. You’re left with no choice but to pay the surge.
In contrast, local taxi services in Coimbatore offer transparent, fixed rates. The fare is calculated based on distance, time, or fixed packages—no shocks, no surprises. You always know what you’re paying upfront, whether it's a 5-minute ride or a 50-km outstation trip.
2. Local Knowledge = Faster, Smarter Routes
While GPS is helpful, it can’t beat a local driver who knows every shortcut, traffic bottleneck, and alternate route in the city. Most ride-share drivers depend solely on maps, which can often lead to longer travel times.
Taxi drivers from Coimbatore-based agencies are seasoned professionals who know how to avoid school zones at 3 PM or skip congested flyovers during rush hours. Whether you’re heading to Gandhipuram, RS Puram, or even up the hills toward Ooty, these drivers make sure you arrive faster and smarter.
3. Timely Pickup – Every Time
Have you ever waited 15 minutes for a ride-share only to have it canceled? Or worse, experienced multiple reassignments because no one was accepting your ride? This can be frustrating, especially during emergencies.
Professional taxi services in Coimbatore operate with commitment. Most companies have large fleets and assign drivers manually or via dispatchers, ensuring that your ride is not only confirmed but also punctual. They value your time—and it shows in their service.
4. Professional, Verified Drivers
Ride-share drivers often work part-time and vary in skill and professionalism. But local taxi operators train and verify their drivers through proper background checks and in-house training. You get drivers who:
Follow traffic rules
Speak local languages
Assist with luggage
Maintain hygiene in the vehicle
Are courteous and calm under pressure
This creates a much safer and more dependable experience, especially for women, senior citizens, and solo travelers.
5. Perfect for Long-Distance or Outstation Travel
If you’re planning a weekend trip to Ooty, Valparai, Munnar, or even Tiruppur—ride-sharing apps can’t offer fixed one-way or roundtrip packages. You’ll often be charged by the minute or kilometer without knowing the final fare until the trip ends.
Coimbatore taxi services offer affordable outstation packages that include fuel, tolls, driver allowance, and return fare. You can even customize the itinerary—plan a temple tour, add sightseeing spots, or take long halts—something app-based rides don’t accommodate.
A Real-World Example
Consider this: You need a cab at 5:30 AM to catch your flight from Coimbatore Airport. With a ride-sharing app, there’s no guarantee your booking will be accepted. Surge charges apply, and the driver may even cancel at the last minute.
With a local taxi service, you pre-book your airport drop, get an assigned driver the night before, receive their contact number, and rest easy. That’s reliability you can trust.
Conclusion
In recent years, people—especially locals and frequent travelers—have begun favoring trusted taxi operators over uncertain ride-sharing options. Here's why:
Flexible booking: Phone, website, or WhatsApp options
24/7 service: Ideal for airport drops, emergencies, and night travel
Custom vehicles: From hatchbacks to Tempo Travellers
Safe rides: Live tracking, emergency helpline, verified chauffeurs
Cash or cashless options: Pay by UPI, card, or cash
You get the convenience of modern travel with the comfort of trusted local service.
Final Thoughts
When it comes to traveling in and around the city, Taxi Services in Coimbatore offer unbeatable benefits—reliability, fair pricing, and personalized service. Whether it’s a quick ride to the market or a multi-day outstation trip, these services are tailored to meet the exact needs of the modern commuter.
Unlike global ride-share apps, these taxi services are built around local values, long-term trust, and accountability. From booking to drop-off, the experience feels smooth, secure, and dependable.
Next time you're looking for a cab in Coimbatore, skip the app confusion and choose a taxi service in Coimbatore that has your back—any time, any place.

5 Psychological Manipulation Tactics Hiding in Plain Sight
The Human Mind Is a Battlefield—Here's What You're Probably Missing
Most manipulation is not manipulative in appearance. It appears to be kindness. Politeness. Concern. It has a clean face, talks softly, and gives you precisely what you desire—until you understand that you've been pushed, led, and backed up without realizing it.
We assume manipulation is dramatic. But the most powerful tricks are ordinary. And they’re everywhere: at work, in relationships, in texts from people who “just want to talk.” If you’ve ever left a conversation feeling unsure of what just happened, there’s a chance one of these was at play.
Here are five dark psychological tactics that can distort reality—if you’re not paying attention.

Disguising Truth as Hostility Truth is invariably unwanted—not because it's incorrect, but because it's threatening to the listener's sense of self. Inform someone of something unpleasant, and rather than confronting what you said, they'll respond to the way you said it. You were "too harsh." "Poorly timed." "Insensitive.
The actual discomfort is not the presentation—it's the mirror you reflected. When individuals see themselves differently than they desire, they destroy the mirror, not the image. Most will prefer to feel good rather than confront a truth that requires adjustment. This strategy capitalizes on that reflex, framing truth as aggression so it may be discarded without regard.
Created Empathy in this situation to Establish Control One of the most potentially lethal forms of manipulation is dressed in compassion. Individuals will listen carefully, mirror your feelings back at you, and make you feel thoroughly understood—because they are not caring, but calculating.
By being your emotional safe haven, they gain your trust. When you lower your guard, your vulnerability is no longer a weakness, but a weapon. They learn to word things just right to control you, to seed ideas in the guise of your own. It's not empathy—it's leverage masquerading as warmth.
Guilt as a Shortcut to Obedience Guilt is perhaps the most effective tool of manipulation. Rather than presenting you with a direct question, manipulators will sometimes characterize your refusal as moral failure. "After everything I've done for you…" or "I guess I just care more than you do…" Ring a bell?
This is effective because it activates your internal desire to be perceived as good or just. You are not getting out of what you want to do—you're protecting your reputation. And they succeed, not because their argument was valid, but because they convinced you that refusing would make you a villain.
The "Reasonable" Tone Trap Others use calm as a weapon. You bring up an issue. They remain calm and logical, perhaps even superiorly calm. You question yourself. Am I getting too emotional? Overreacting?
This strategy does create an imbalance of power. They sound rational, level, and thus right—while you sound nuts. But the truth is not always serene. Oftentimes it is loud, chaotic, pressing. Quiet language does not make one right. It merely makes them more difficult to argue with without seeming reactive.
Abusing Your Own Story Against You When you reveal your issues or your values to a person, you're providing them with a map of your mind. An experienced manipulator will use that map to take you where they wish. If you informed them that you dislike disappointing others, then they'll become the victim when you oppose them. If you hold loyalty as an important virtue, then they'll present their request as a trial of your commitment.
It feels intimate, because it is. But it's not compassion—it's manipulative. They're employing your vocabulary to advance their agenda. The moment you recognize this, it's disconcerting. And unforgettable.
Final Thought: Awareness Is Armor The most disturbing thing about these strategies is how mundane they appear. They insinuate themselves into mundane conversation, into texts, into sit-downs with individuals you love and trust. That's what gives them potency. But once you've observed them, you can't help but unsee them. You find yourself glancing for the tilt, the nudge, the quiet rewrite of fact.
Not all manipulation is done with ill intent. But all of it is happening.
And the first step toward protecting your peace is knowing exactly how it gets taken in the first place.

The Power Behind the Name: Exploring the Legacy of Kumar Builders Owner
In India’s bustling real estate landscape, the name Kumar Builders evokes images of premium living spaces, architectural elegance, and a commitment to quality. This legacy, however, is not just a product of brick, mortar, and design—it is the result of focused leadership and vision. At the heart of it all is the Kumar Builders Owner, whose relentless dedication to innovation and integrity has carved a niche for the brand in the highly competitive world of real estate.
As India’s urban centers expand and customer expectations rise, Kumar Builders continues to stand tall, backed by its consistent delivery, high-standard ethics, and future-forward thinking. In this article, we dive into how the owner’s vision has helped elevate Kumar Builders into one of the most dependable real estate developers in the country.
Humble Beginnings to an Empire
Every iconic brand has an origin story—and Kumar Builders is no different. What began as a small-scale venture has today become one of Pune’s most trusted real estate names. But this transformation wasn’t a matter of luck. It was driven by the calculated, consistent, and community-focused decisions of the Kumar Builders Owner.
Instead of chasing quick profits, the focus was always on building credibility. And credibility comes from quality, transparency, and customer trust. The owner made sure these pillars were embedded in every stage—from planning and permissions to construction and possession.
A Vision that Keeps Evolving
The real estate sector in India has undergone a major evolution in the past two decades. From traditional single-building apartments to modern gated communities, the industry has adapted to the aspirations of a new generation of homebuyers.
What makes Kumar Builders unique is its ability to anticipate these changes. The Kumar Builders Owner has always been a step ahead—understanding that homes are no longer just places to live but extensions of a lifestyle. Under their leadership, the brand started integrating smart home features, green initiatives, and community-centered layouts far before they became mainstream.
In today’s hyper-competitive market, staying relevant is not enough. You must stay reliable, and that’s exactly what Kumar Builders has done under this leadership.
Building Communities, Not Just Structures
Real estate isn't just about concrete and square feet—it's about creating ecosystems where people thrive. One of the most admirable traits of the Kumar Builders Owner is the commitment to human-centric development.
From children’s play zones to meditation areas, from pet-friendly corners to jogging tracks and green spaces—their projects prioritize holistic living. Families feel not only secure but also emotionally connected to the spaces they inhabit. That’s a rare achievement in this industry.
This community-first approach is part of what makes Kumar Builders stand out from the crowd. Many developers focus purely on inventory. Kumar Builders focuses on impact.
Leadership That Sets a Benchmark
The qualities of the Kumar Builders Owner are reflected in every decision made by the company. What defines their leadership?
Transparency: Buyers are never left in the dark. Pricing, permissions, timelines—everything is disclosed upfront.
Accountability: Delays are handled responsibly. Complaints are addressed quickly. Every customer is treated with respect.
Foresight: Be it sustainable construction methods, EV-charging provisions, or adapting to RERA norms—the owner leads with future-ready strategies.
Integrity: No false promises, no shortcuts—only long-term value creation.
Such leadership is rare, especially in an industry where cutting corners is often the norm.
The Power of Location and Timing
One of the smartest moves made by the Kumar Builders Owner has been their understanding of location dynamics. Whether it’s Pune’s rapidly growing suburbs or emerging Tier-II cities, Kumar Builders projects are always strategically placed near upcoming infrastructure, IT hubs, schools, and hospitals.
This foresight not only increases property value over time but also ensures a better quality of life for residents. Buyers don’t just purchase a home—they invest in convenience, connectivity, and long-term appreciation.
Social Responsibility and Giving Back
A successful business must also uplift the community it serves. The Kumar Builders Owner believes in giving back—and that belief reflects in the brand’s commitment to CSR.
From supporting education for underprivileged children to environmental drives, tree plantations, and women empowerment initiatives—the brand contributes positively to society. It’s not just about developing land; it’s about developing lives.
This is one of the many reasons Kumar Builders is admired not just by customers, but by industry peers as well.
Not Just Homes—Lifestyle Statements
Under the owner’s direction, Kumar Builders has developed more than just residential buildings—they’ve created lifestyle destinations. With amenities like clubhouses, swimming pools, amphitheaters, co-working spaces, and even retail arcades within township projects, the living experience is elevated far beyond expectations.
This attention to detail and user experience is what turns a “flat” into a dream home.
What the Future Holds
Looking ahead, the Indian housing sector will be shaped by digital integration, sustainable architecture, and multi-functional living spaces. The Kumar Builders Owner is already steering the brand in that direction, focusing on:
Tech-enabled sales journeys with virtual site visits and digital payment processes
Green-certified construction for healthier environments
Rental-friendly layouts to suit younger professionals and nuclear families
Expansion into new states to bring Kumar Builders' promise to a broader audience
The future looks bright—and deeply aligned with the changing needs of modern Indian families.
Final Thoughts
Real estate brands come and go—but those that endure are built on trust, vision, and consistency. Kumar Builders is one such name. The reason behind that success? The unwavering leadership and values of the Kumar Builders Owner.
As the brand continues to grow, it carries with it a legacy of excellence and a roadmap of innovation. If you’re planning to invest in a home or are simply curious about how great businesses are built—Kumar Builders is a masterclass in both.
And at the core of that masterclass is a name that will be remembered not just for the structures built, but for the lives transformed.

Racing Development Post
For Turbo Drift Rally, my goal in GDevelop has been to create a fast, responsive top-down racing game that’s all about precision drifting and track mastery. I wanted the player to feel in full control while still being challenged by sharp corners, hazards, and time pressure. The big focus early on has been getting the core movement and drift mechanics feeling smooth and satisfying.
What I Learned
One of the biggest things I learned was how to simulate drifting in GDevelop using custom variables, force-based movement, and angle calculations. At first, it was difficult to make the car feel loose while still giving the player enough control to avoid spinning out constantly. After a lot of experimentation, I now have a drift system that rewards careful timing and directional input.
Inspiration from Readings
Chapters 3 and 5 of Game Design Workshop by Tracy Fullerton played a big role in shaping my approach:
Chapter 3 helped me focus on identifying and refining the game’s core mechanic—drifting. It reminded me that every other part of the game should support and enhance that mechanic.
Chapter 5 emphasized the importance of iterative design. I took this to heart by building and testing small parts of the game (like a drift corner or boost pad) before committing to full tracks or visual polish.
These chapters helped keep me focused on gameplay first, visuals second.
Design Ideas & Gameplay
The game features:
Drift-based controls (hold Spacebar to drift through corners)
Hazards and boosts (like ice patches and speed pads to change up the track flow)
I’ve also thought about player decision-making, inspired by Fullerton’s point that good games present players with meaningful choices. For example, players must decide whether to go full speed through a risky shortcut or play it safe for consistency.
Final Thoughts
So far, I’m happy with how the feel of the driving is coming together. The next big steps will be polishing the UI, and designing more interesting tracks with unique challenges.

Top 10 House Construction Mistakes That Can Delay Your Dream Home Project
Building your dream home is one of life’s most exciting milestones—but it can also come with its fair share of stress. What starts as a vision on paper can easily face delays if things don’t go as planned. From unexpected costs to poor coordination, even small mistakes can throw your timeline off track. The good news? With the right preparation and awareness of common pitfalls, you can keep your home construction running smoothly and on schedule.
This guide will walk you through the top 10 house construction mistakes that homeowners often face. More importantly, you'll learn how to avoid these hiccups and stay on track to bring your dream home to life.
Mistake 1 Poor Site Planning
Starting with the wrong site can create a snowball effect of problems later. Issues such as an unsuitable location, improper land slope, or poor soil conditions can deeply impact your project.
Consequences:
Structural safety concerns
Delays in foundational work
Pro Tip: Before beginning, hire a professional architect or planner who can test soil conditions, measure slopes, and ensure the site meets all requirements before construction starts.
Mistake 2 Floor Plans That Are Vague or Unrealistic
Imagine designing a house where nothing matches the blueprint. This commonly happens with incomplete floor plans or frequent on-site design changes. When plans aren’t specific or detailed enough, construction teams face constant setbacks trying to “figure things out” as they go.
Consequences:
Extended project timelines
Higher costs due to constant adjustments
Pro Tip: Always finalize detailed 2D or 3D plans before breaking ground. These plans provide clarity to builders and reduce confusion during construction.
Mistake 3 Ignoring the Approvals and Permits Maze
Indulging in construction without necessary legal permits or approvals is a shortcut that goes nowhere fast. These oversights can bring your site to a grinding halt.
Common Delays:
Building plan sanctions
Vastu or zoning clearances (in specific regions)
Utility provider permissions
Pro Tip: Work with legal professionals or permit agents to ensure all documentation is ready before a single brick is laid.
Mistake 4 Cutting Corners on Hiring Contractors
You might save a few bucks initially with unqualified contractors, but subpar work often leads to rework, stress, and blowout timelines.
Consequences:
Delays caused by fixing mistakes
Poor-quality results reduce the lifespan of your home
Pro Tip: Invest in licensed contractors with proven experience. Check reviews, portfolios, and credentials before making hires.
Mistake 5 Not Budgeting for the Unexpected
Even with the most meticulous calculations, unforeseen expenses will appear. Running out of funds is a common issue that can stall your dream project indefinitely.
Solution:
Allocate 10–15% of your total budget for emergency situations or changes as the build progresses.
Pro Tip: Use digital budgeting tools to monitor expenses consistently.
Mistake 6 Poor Planning for Materials
Materials getting delayed, running out of stock, or last-minute design changes can wreak havoc on your project timeline.
Consequences:
Idle construction teams while waiting for materials
Increased costs for rush shipments
Pro Tip: Plan your material list in advance, coordinate supply schedules meticulously, and keep an eye on delivery timelines.
Mistake 7 Lack of Site Supervision or Project Management
Even experienced teams need oversight. Without regular on-site supervision, mistakes pile up and rework becomes a costly affair.
Consequences:
Frequent errors/errors going unnoticed
Wasted time and resources
Pro Tip: Assign a dedicated supervisor with project management experience. Alternatively, utilize construction-tracking software to monitor progress and reduce inefficiencies.
Mistake 8 Overhauling the Design Frequently
Changing floor layouts or exterior designs midway seems harmless but ends up delaying the overall workflow significantly.
Consequences:
Materials that don’t fit new designs go to waste
Labor teams must redo work, thus doubling time and costs
Pro Tip: Finalize and stick to your approved blueprints unless absolutely necessary.
Mistake 9 Disregarding Seasonal Factors
Starting construction without considering weather conditions or local festivals can quickly disrupt timelines.
Common Issues:
Monsoons delaying outdoor work
Heat waves making labor unsafe
Pro Tip: Schedule construction activities during favorable weather conditions and plan breaks around local holidays and festivals.
Mistake 10 Forgetting Future Expansion
Your dream home today may need extra features in the future. Without anticipating these needs upfront, you could end up tearing down walls for utilities, wiring, or future expansions.
Consequences:
Wasteful retrofitting costs
Interruptions to daily life during renovations
Pro Tip: Account for future possibilities such as solar panels, home automation technologies, and ample plumbing for expansions.
How to Stay on Track
Preventing delays in your dream home project boils down to this:
Collaborate with experienced architects, designers, and contractors.
Use tools like 3D renderings, budgeting apps, and project-tracking software for better precision and efficiency.
Always tackle approvals, planning, and budgeting before starting construction.
When you approach your project with proactive planning, you’re well on your way to minimizing errors and delays.
Build Your Dream Home Without Stress
Your dream home can become a reality—without unnecessary delays or headaches. By knowing the top 10 house construction mistakes to avoid, you can tackle problems before they happen. How to Build a Strong Client Base as a Real Estate Agent
Understanding the Value of a Solid Client Base
A thriving real estate career hinges on one thing: people. Clients are not just leads; they are relationships waiting to be nurtured, advocates waiting to be impressed.
Identify Your Niche
Trying to be everything to everyone often leads to being nothing to no one. Specializing in luxury homes, condos, first-time buyers, or investment properties can set you apart.
Know Your Ideal Client Profile
Develop a clear image of who you want to work with. Age, income, lifestyle, family size, and location preferences are all pieces of the puzzle.
Leverage Your Existing Network
Start with the people who already know and trust you. Friends, family, former colleagues, and even old schoolmates can be golden contacts.
Use Social Media with Intent
Don’t just post listings. Share insights about the market, offer advice, showcase success stories, and go live at open houses.
Create a Compelling Website
An agent without a sleek, informative website is losing credibility. Ensure it loads quickly, looks modern, and clearly communicates your value.
Invest in SEO
What good is a website if no one sees it? Optimize your pages with localized keywords, fast loading speeds, and a mobile-friendly design.
Become a Content Machine
Blogging regularly helps position you as an authority. Think beyond property listings: discuss financing tips, neighborhood spotlights, and renovation ROI.
Offer Free Resources
Checklists for home buying, market trend reports, or mortgage calculators create trust and collect leads in one fell swoop.
Host Educational Events
First-time homebuyer seminars or webinars on the current market build your authority while bringing potential clients into your sphere.
Utilize Email Marketing
Monthly newsletters with property picks, market updates, and insider tips keep you top of mind without being intrusive.
Master the Art of Follow-Up
Polite persistence often seals the deal. Follow up on inquiries within hours, not days. Use a CRM to track and automate.
Build Referral Partnerships
Connect with mortgage brokers, interior designers, and contractors. Their clients could become your clients with the right relationship.
Ask for Reviews and Referrals
Happy clients will sing your praises if you ask. A well-timed request after closing can result in powerful testimonials and new leads.
Stay Top of Mind
Birthday cards, holiday greetings, and random check-ins keep relationships warm. Be the first name they think of when real estate comes up.
Use Real Estate Platforms Smartly
Don’t just list and leave. Engage with potential buyers, respond to inquiries fast, and keep listings updated with fresh content.
Advertise Locally
Sponsor a youth soccer team or get your face on a community billboard. Visibility in your neighborhood cements your presence.
Track Your Metrics
From open rates on emails to social media engagement, understanding your analytics helps you tweak your strategy for better results.
Adapt with the Market
Interest rates shift, inventory fluctuates, buyer behaviors change. Stay agile and keep learning so your strategies remain sharp.
Keep Learning
Take courses, attend conferences, and stay in touch with real estate trends. Expertise breeds confidence, and clients can sense it.
Stay Compliant and Professional
Real estate is a field of trust. Make sure your practices follow regulations and always prioritize integrity over shortcuts.
For those looking to get started in the Canadian market, here’s a guide to become a real estate agent in Canada that lays out every step.
