"Who is Estonia?"
A series of responses heavily based on little facts of culture and history with the Nordic-Baltic 8. This is just a fun little short way I thought of to talk about their relationships and history. Pretty much everything is a reference to something. This is all for fun! :D

FINLAND
Two out of three of the only independent Uralic countries to exist. You’d think it would be a heavy burden to carry, but it’s easier not being alone.
Even when I was the one to wrong him, Eduard did not change his stance. Guess it's part of being family to not always see eye to eye. It never discouraged him from rushing to my aid even when things were hard for him too. Eduard refused to let any hardship stop him from bleeding for my country. Ridiculously stubborn he is - but it’s been one of his greatest strengths. Of course I repaid him, then he proceeded to do it again. It's like a cycle of fighting for each other's freedom, one I was unable to continue because what I could do had became incredibly limited. These limited set of actions still seemed to mean the world to him. Re-independence had its rough patches, but more than ever were we glad to both be free and have each other again.
Eduard always wants what's best for both of us. He doesn't want any one of us to end up in the hands of our Eastern neighbours and puts so much time and effort into our cooperation and safety. Why do you think he became so dedicated in Cybersecurity? If he can't be a physical powerhouse, he'll be a powerhouse of the mind. Even when I was uncertain of what I will do, he did not pressure me. Instead, he promised that no matter what I decide, he will always be there for me, no matter what.
The only flag I want to see down south is a tricolour blue-black-blue, if the sun one day rises without it then I will know I have failed as a brother.

NORWAY
I didn’t expect us to have many things alike outside similarities that are basic and expected for a northern nation. Never expected that something as simple as common patterns among our sweaters, hats and mittens could mean a lot more in hindsight. Another is the familiar feeling of having been thrown between nations and finally being independent again- even if our stories on that are much different.
When life told him no, he looked for another way- even though his government in exile continued to operate elsewhere, the mere fact that it was founded in Norway seemed to mean a lot to him. Perhaps it was my way of making up for the time he bled for me as well. When his own freedom was compromised, he would not sit idly and watch as someone he cared about was fighting for the same reason. As small as it may have seemed in the big picture, it is the passion and care that counts.
Estonia has always wanted to bridge any gaps between us. Inviting my people to sing in song festivals, making work deals, rushing to create a flight connection for a direct method of transport. It seems like every year Estonia finds ways to bring us a little closer, be it economic or cultural.
I too know the weight of sharing a border with Russia, partially to have so much history of dealing with him.. The Baltic’s strength is commendable.
Keep singing, songbird.

LATVIA
Long ago I used to hate Estonia. We used to be at each other's throats declaring each other “blood enemies”. It's a little funny looking back on it, the way history went on to tie us so close together. Together we saw countless wars, famines, storms, rarely were we separated through it. Sometimes I'd ask him “What do you think the world will throw at us next?” And he'd look at me and simply shrug “We'll see.”
A moment of truth was when we both fought for independence, for two new nations to be formed.
When I was backstabbed by the people who had tormented both of us for centuries, It was then I saw how our relationship had changed over the ages when Estonia without question stepped up to fight by my side. So casually my fight became his fight, no strings attached.
Estonia, his culture and language is notably different from mine, but must that mean we can't be brothers too? What brought us together was our experiences, not our blood. This applies to most of us, all I have been left with in regards to any sense of family is Lithuania. It would be a sad reality to live in if I considered only one country as worth being brothers with.
Estonia with his bond with Finland is the bridge that ties the Nordic-Baltic 8 together, but that doesn't mean me and Lithuania don't contribute to it either!

LITHUANIA
You'd think that with how different our history till the last century is, that I would be a weak link in all this, right?
I would not say so, even if there's some truth in the fact that I am not as close to Estonia as some others might be, it's the continuous effort to bring us together that counts.
Our old history includes fights here and there, the Balt Estonia once held close is no longer with us and with the Finnic brothers he has seen fade - he shares our pain of loss. Our enemies have often been the same, but back then we failed to see unity. What would have happened if we realised that far sooner? We’ll never know.
Our time together under the commonwealth was brief but the time under Russian rule slowly gave us a new opportunity.
The moment all three of us became independent, Estonia was the one to seek ways to bring us closer. Of course the main motive for it was to stand together stronger in the scenario of our east neighbour attacking, it still planted seeds for more than just that.
Latvia may be the one linking the Baltics together, but if it was necessary for me to be the one to reach out and hold his hand instead - I would not find it strange.
I'll always enjoy sitting back and enjoying some ice cream together, basking under a shared free sun.

ICELAND
I know the feeling of not being seen or heard, I decided a change was needed and took the first step. I never expected how much my simple words of “I recognize you as an independent country” would be worth more than gold. I became seen as a true friend, a “fellow small country”, an icebreaker, a name immortalised on a memorial- for just stubbornly expressing my stance? They seemed surprised when I showed my gratitude with a similar gesture.
Neither of us care for large mighty extravagant buildings as tourist attractions, instead we value and guide people to explore what mother nature has gifted us. I appreciate having him around. Even if I were the only Nordic to feel this way - I would still speak up for him.

DENMARK
Resilient, stubborn and always ready to improve - that's how I would describe Estonia.
I was part of the era that turned his history dark, I had celebrated victory for conquering a fierce land. When I had pointed my sword to his throat to submit him to the Danish crown, Estonia stood up and said “I will never die, no matter what you do to me.”
That was a promise.
Instead of looking at me with distaste for what I did to him so long ago, these memories instead are proof that we have always been connected. The flag of my nation - Dannebrog, stands as the strongest symbol of that. Hah! Why do you think Tallinn keeps showing it off all over the place? Give the coat of arms a closer look while you're at it! My guess is it's how Eduard expresses holding something dear.
It was like a hit of nostalgia to come back 700 years after that battle, hearing of Eduard’s fight for independence.
Like repaying a debt of honour, I couldn't sit back and watch a wounded land fight against a giant alone. I knew I had to do at least something, even if the government was not the most supportive of it. Two hundred men out of two thousands who were able to go and able to risk their lives in the end may seem small, but their effort was a success that brought honour to the crown.
This turn in history gave us another chance to start over, kindling a friendship neither of us thought we could ever have, before being struck with another turn that took him away from us again. I sat in silence refusing to accept it until he and his Baltic brothers reminded the world of their existence and stepped up to stand in support.
I made sure to keep the promises I made. I had 50 lost years to make up for, so I gave a hand in as many areas as I possibly could.
I'm proud to be his friend and I know that if he falls then I might too, which is why I know I can never let that happen. Never again will I let that happen.

SWEDEN
Most people don't realise how far back we go.
I saw Eduard at his fiercest point, a land that would strike fear into kings and just as easily burn what he didn’t like. He wasn’t someone to upset and yet I kept poking at him like a bear with a stick.
He allowed my people to come as settlers into uninhabited areas, despite his experience with foreigners taking and taking from him. Those settlers seemingly became a natural part of his nation, honoured even if most of them are now gone.
Something I quickly learned was how studious Eduard is, someone who picks up new skills incredibly fast. To think Eduard steadily became one of the most literate parts of the Russian empire back in the day makes me wonder how much of it was the seeds of education I planted or his hard work in fighting to keep it.
I tried my best to give my part in his fight for independence, turns out my support in this fight had been something his people had fantasized for decades. To think that after the way I left the people would continue to hold Sweden so dear in their hearts as the words “Good ol’ Swedish age” would be carried from generation to generation. Of course once given the opportunity we reconnected, provided a warm welcome.
Guilt gnawed at me every year as freedom had been so easily robbed from him again. I made mistakes. Mistakes I've apologised for repeatedly. Because of all the people given a chance of freedom and a normal life that my land gave - it's been forgiven. Sweden became a place where people could gather and continue the fight in safety - I am proud to have been able to have a role like that.
I am glad to have been given the chance to now stand as close to equals as possible.
All I hope is that Eduard learns to truly value and love himself more, do not let the ignorant voices shake him now.

All of us together, we will thrive as the Nordic-Baltic 8 and all of us are glad to have Estonia be part of it. It wouldn't be the same without any one of us, which is why we will continue to stand together no matter what others try to claim we are.
With love,
Northern Europe

You said that you like sufin/finsu only in sertain ways, could you tell what those are
(Asking because I feel that too)
Love your content ❤
Well... I should probably preface this by saying it's not as prevalent in the fandom nowadays as it used to be a few years ago (wait, does 2012-2016 still count as a few years ago? anyway), but I still notice traces of it in new fanworks as well. Also, please note English isn't my native language, so I apologize in advance if my explanation is a bit clumsy.
.
Anyway, my biggest issues were/are with how the fandom portrayed (and still sometimes portray) Finland as the "damsel in distress", wife and/or mum. He's not. Finland is a man, and should be treated as such. If anything he'd be a husband/partner, dad/papa or simply "isä" (which is Finnish for dad).
Just as anyone else Finland has his strengths and faults, but it got/gets really annoying when everyone treated Finland as that old and bad stereotypical "the woman of the relationship" who basically spent all his time going: "Oh, Sweden, I've been terrified of you my entire life, but now when you suddenly kissed me I realized it was love all along!" in fanworks.
. . . Yeah, no. That's not SuFin. At best that's an unhealthy relationship and should be tagged as such.
For anyone reading this; It doesn't matter if the other person has good intentions or not; never enter or stay in a relationship if you're afraid of the other person(s). It's not healthy or fair to any of you.
.
Then we also had/have fandom portrayal of Sweden. Sweden was an old bad stereotype of "the man of the relationship" and/or just generally a complete monster and forced various things with Finland. Or he was put in the role of "the poor bullied sad teddybear who could nothing wrong and gets beaten up by evil Denmark", on top of almost always being written as basically being owed Finland's love.
Never any middle ground on any of them, even in the few works who reversed the roles. They just went changed the character they slapped a role on and just went to the extreme the other way instead.
And don't get me started on if you liked Sweden and/or Finland romantically with someone else. SuFin-shippers could treat you as if you had just killed their whole family in cold blood.
.
So, when I say I only like SuFin in "certain ways"... I suppose I basically just mean fanworks which treat them as people, with both their strengths and faults and no one forcing the other to do something. For them to actually be treated as two men who actually LOVE each other; without one being an old and bad stereotypical "the woman" or "the man" of the relationship, and/or one being afraid of the other.
Now in Hetalia canon Finland is a cheerful, sweet, but a little weird man who sometimes becomes a bit intimidated when he doesn't understand what Sweden thinks/mean, but he's also someone who keeps pointing out that Sweden is KIND and not actually angry. Finland actively helps and defends Sweden when other people and nations become afraid of him. Additionally Finland has canon good aim and also great physical and mental strength. He's someone who has plenty of canon friends outside the Nordics as well - such as Estonia and Germany just to mention 2 of them.
In Hetalia canon Sweden is a bit of an awkward, shy man who has an intimidating face and difficulty expressing his emotions. However, he's also a former Empire who wasn't afraid of walking across the sea ice in the middle of a blizzard in order to headbutt Denmark in the face because Den annoyed him too much. Sweden is both protective and playful with his family, which can especially be seen in his interactions with Iceland, Sealand and Ladonia - but so far we haven't really seen Sweden have any friends outside of the NB8. All of Sweden's friends outside of NB8 are fanon and/or headcanons by people.
(For those who don't know, NB8 is the alliance between Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.)
It's also worth mentioning that while fandom blew up "M' W'fe"; to my knowledge hws!Sweden only said it ONCE (maybe twice, if I'm forgetting an instance) in canon when he introduced himself to Estonia - and upon noticing Finland's reaction of being called his wife, Sweden stopped. He never called Finland his wife again.
It doesn't matter why the Hetalia fandom thinks Sweden called Finland his wife, or their headcanoned reason why Finland protested against it. The important thing to note from canon is that Sweden noticed and respected that Finland doesn't want to be called his wife and then stopped doing so. It doesn't matter what Finland's reason was; Sweden respects it.
Finland may or may not return Sweden's feelings in canon, but even for people who do NOT ship SuFin I think it's also important to acknowledge that Sweden and Finland are close friends who have known each other for hundreds of years, and Sweden respects Finland. Even if you like another pairing such as DenFin/NorFin/EstFin I think it's important to keep in mind that Sweden wouldn't just turn into an absolute asshole just because Finland loves someone else. Same in the reverse.
From a SuFin perspective neither Sweden nor Finland are perfect, and I'm sure they would make some mistakes while trying to figure stuff out in their relationship, but as long as they respect each other and get treated as people I think it's good.
.
Hope this makes sense. The ask has been sitting in my inbox for a while and this (once again) became a bit of a long post, but I really wanted to try and explain what I mean when I say I only like SuFin a certain way.

I would definitely be interested to read the diplomatic timelines of Estonia and the Nordics! I'm Swedish, so I'll be able to translate the Scandinavian ones as well, if that is allowed.
Somehow, it doesn't surprise me that the Danish embassy in Estonia is the most well-funded, given the strong historical ties. And the legend of the Danish flag of course 😂 Is it true that on June 15th (Danish Flag Day), free Danish flags will be given out in Tallinn, at the location where the flag fell according to the legend?
Hej! Jag pluggar svenska i gymnasiet, men jag vet bara lite haha.
I intend to make a masterlist post of all the Estonia and (country) 100 timelines, but for now I'll give the ones I can. Unfortunately Denmark's seems to lack an easy to find Danish version? Although part of my memory swears it does exist simply lacks the easy switch... For now I struggle to find it, which is a shame, because Denmark's includes a lot of "people don't but SHOULD know this" content. I'll think of possibly doing a summary post about it myself, highlighting the very notable things- although it would take a ton of translation work.
I wouldn't quite underestimate the Swedish embassy either, I didn't get the chance to go inside but I am aware they sure have the budget to host a huge Santa Lucia celebration every year. I was part of the choir who did the Tallinn celebration last year in Õpetajate Maja, it was ridiculously fancy with a lot of important looking people (I saw multiple people who had their chest full of medals, it was insane! Also very crowded, they had to move out the way when we walked in to sing the first song.)
I haven't personally been to the little event they host on Dannebrog day, but looking at their Instagram posts... Very likely. Heck, when I visited and spent an hour yapping with their info specialist she also offered me a free little flag right before I left. They're not the cheap plastic handle ones either, proper small ones with wood that will hold.

I don't know if you awnsered this or not. But I seen you talk to Unofficial Estonia about how Estonia is portrayed in Hetalia/ the fandom. Do you think how the fandom/Hima portray him nowadays is better? I know there is still some poor taste jokes/ takes/ art that are made by like 14 year olds about Estonia and Russia in the fandom. But do you think his over all portal is better?
By the way I do love your blog and rewrites of cannon. I love learning about other countries and their view of the world.
Oh yeah, me and some of the people behind that blog have spoken before about matters such as how Estonia is treated by the Hetalia fandom and worked together on a few occasions.
I do personally think Himaruya has improved a bit when it comes to his treatment of Estonia. Sure, he still makes the Baltics mostly be about the whole "lil guys next to Russia how scawy" which if you know the Baltic countries and people irl then you know we aren't like the cowards Himaruya has written hah.
What I've noticed in recent times with some of the content I've seen (though I definitely need to catch up) is that Himaruya is less focused about the whole Nordic thing with Estonia, he either has learned that the joke is very outdated and based on something very small, or he decided that he's beat that joke like a dead horse enough times now and found there to be much more that he can do.
I appreciate more Baltic content and Estonia and Finland content we've seen, exploring more about Estonia's relationship with these countries. I especially am glad there's more of Estonia just chilling as a Baltic, considering Hima's awful writing has created a side of the fandom that strongly believe the Baltics are a very divided and uncaring of each other trio with nothing holding them together.
So I do think things have improved, even a little. Now let's hope the rest of the fandom picks up on that too. Though I do think for the most part the Baltic side of the fandom has moved on with only a few individuals here and there having those outdated views on us. I also hope the Nordic fans side of the fandom has less people who sit in that outdated bubble too. I've noticed that the Nordic side of the fandom has a lil more of the people who like to target Estonia specifically, but again only some people here and there with majority either just not giving Estonia any attention or being neutral/respectful about it. Though I do think they too are missing out on some great history by ignoring Estonia, especially Sweden and Denmark fans.

OMG I can only imagine how they were later in so much trouble
Can see the embassies to have absolutely made that possible haha!
Nordic-Baltic 8 headcanon idea:
@apheehub
Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia during Soviet Union days secretly get visas from Swedish or Finnish embassies in St. Petersburg so they could travel to Gotland and meet Sweden and others.

You mentioned that you worked with the Estonian and Scandinavian embassies and found out that there's a lot more closeness between the countries than people would expect. What are some interesting and unexpected things you learned about the relationship between Estonia and the Nordic countries?
(Modern-day connections would be preferred, as I would assume the historical conflicts are well known. In a Nationverse context, I would like to write about the friendship and cooperation between their personifications in the modern day 👀)
Out of the Nordic embassies the most I've worked with is Danish Embassy, but also I have connections in the Swedish embassy and have spoken to the Norwegian embassy asking about facts of culture etc. (There are in fact a lot of culture and history facts the average person will not know.) I'll note to myself to make a post about Norway especially - even if the facts they were able to give were limited at the time. (I will also refer to my uurimustöö and take the facts I used from there too.)
Unfortunately Finland's embassy has ended up unreachable most of the time, with their cultural institute also being slow about responses (but my guess is that being such an important neighbour has left them very busy, same situation with Latvia.) And Iceland does not have a direct embassy here, needing to contact the one in Helsinki for any cooperation (which I tried and never got a response, again, alright.)
A keyword to know about the embassies is HELPFUL. They're very nice and open to anyone who approaches and wants to know things. They can also be generous about giving free stuff (ESPECIALLY Denmark :''D though I've noticed they just seem to have a higher budget compared to Norway's embassy for example.)
The Estonian embassies in the Nordic nations have also made 100 year timelines of diplomatic relationships, many of which really bring together a nice picture. (the Danish one actually made me cry). Unfortunately they exist mostly in Estonia, which only some having a translation into the other country's native language (Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish) if anyone speaks those then I can easily send the timeline for you to read.
I've found that the Nordic embassies (especially Sweden and Denmark which have active social media accounts (primarily Instagram) also like to actively participate in social events or matters such as Arvamusfestival (opinion festival) and other events that discuss Estonia's quality of life and development. They've always been economically close with frequent meetings about "increasing cooperation". This does not just apply to economical matters but also education and in recent times a lot lot more about defense too (especially now with Finland and Sweden having joined the NATO gang, something which was seen as a HUGE deal in Estonia to the point Estonia made a stamp of Finland about it.) I'll note to myself to also make a post about all the specific times I can recall Denmark being very active about the topic of defense to the point that I often use it as a point in arguments about faith in NATO.
The Nordic embassies have also been very vocal about and advocating for LGBT rights for years, possibly decades. They have always participated in LGBT events such as the recent Tartu pride. They even posted about having spectated the Riigikogu meeting in which the voting about legalising Gay marriage happened. You can say the Nordics have been one of the closest friends of the LGBT movement in Estonia, often raising rainbow flags in solidarity. (So YES to content about the Nordics celebrating Estonia's progress because of how much they've been supporting it!)
One thing I must bring attention to is NORDIC-BALTIC 8! It is a group that has existed since the 90's, right after the Baltics regained independence. This is another reason for why the "can Eesti into nordic" is incredibly stupid, because we already are considered together. (UN officially views the Baltics as Northern European too, grouping us together further.) Besides some international events wanting to put us far away from each other it is quite acknowledged on a nation relationship scale that the Baltics are in region friends to the Nordics. Some say that this regional friendship is the reason the Baltics are among the better countries in the Eastern half of Europe, because we have good developed countries to be influenced and supported by while some other countries were left with not the best options.
(I like to HC that the NB8 all sit pretty close by to each other in meetings.)
I intend to work on posting some of the information I've found, especially when I get time to read some sources I've received but not had the time to fully go through them.
Hope this response at least satisfies you a little <3

So, woke up today and saw that Estonia's Collezione page has been finally translated to the best of the fans abilities. Safe to say I despise majority of the content we see.
Where do I even begin with this? First lets go to the profile.
Tumblr media
Very quickly things go downhill when the desire to be Nordic is brought up.
Let me clarify, Estonia suggested to join the Nordics with many reasons like- once, during the 90's and got rejected. Most people here don't care of even know about this, we view ourselves as Baltics who have a closeness to the Nordics. Culturally a grey area. Besides, the Nordic-Baltic 8 is a legitimate thing that exists. The way Himaruya depicts Estonia by making him so obsessive with being Nordic is disgustingly inaccurate and a very very old joke. No one is laughing Himaruya, no one is laughing! This joke paints a terrible image of Estonia and how he treats those close to him. Estonia is a small country so its easier to damage how people view Estonia like this.
Besides the Nordic stuff there's also a few smaller thing that bother me.
Shopping at Finland's house? That sounds sweet but makes absolutely no sense. Finland is a much much more expensive country for Estonians, we don't go there to shop but to just have a trip to Finland and go to places like Linnanmäki (an amusement park, Estonia has none). With shopping it's usually the opposite with Finns coming to Estonia for alcohol, materials for craft, or even sweets because of Estonia being significantly cheaper for them.
Also,, favourite food piirakka? Himaruya, it's pirukas in Estonian, and it just means pie. What pie? If you mean Karelian pie then I'll have you know it has more of a presence in Finland than here. Also Estonians are very known to love rye bread, and it is very true, why can't you just put that he likes rye bread? Would it kill you to do even one google search?
Tumblr media
This isn't that bad but I still feel bothered by the return of the whole "Don't we look alike? Could we be brothers?" thing that makes no sense. Sweden is a Germanic country while Estonia is Finnic/Finno-Ugric. I think that is enough to say why this is one of the most stupidest things Himaruya has suggested.
What also bothers me is the whole "The Great Sweden" thing, Estonia definitely does look up to the Nordics because of their reputation for a good quality of life and such, but why is he placing Sweden on a pedestal like this? Over the sea they're neighbours and have a very long history of having once fought but then having formed a strong mutual respectable friendship with eachother.
I am aware that Himaruya refuses to acknowledge these two as friends but it feels even worse for me that Himaruya now depicts Estonia treating Sweden as some very highly person that they couldn't be on similar grounds with at all - as like some whole other class he can't even talk to. It's nice that Estonia appreciates whenever Nordics compliment him but with the way its interpreted it feels unhealthy how he places them on such high pedestals. I don't know how to explain it, but picture it like if you were to make a bigger deal out of a celebrity saying "Cool." to you instead of cherishing when your real friend says a whole paragraph of nice and meaningful things to you. Maybe I'm overthinking this but it just really bothers me.
Tumblr media
It is sweet to see Latvia say how he respects Estonia confidence in certain areas.. Until we are given a panel of Latvia clearly done with how Estonia won't stop talking about the Nordics that at this point he always expects this to be about them whenever Estonia is happy. That is so fucked up.
It's also messed up how Estonia will take any chance to slam it in someone's face trying to tell he's Nordic. Just. Stop. Estonia you do realize your own history exists too? What about Latvia? What about Latvia who you were basically glued together with for 700 years? Does he mean nothing to you?
Now, I left the worst ones for last!
Tumblr media
Where do I begin with this?
Estonians highly value their tricolour, we had to fought more than once to be able to raise this flag and express our pride for who we are. A popular Estonian cross flag does exist, but its only popular among the very tiny minority of people hiding that actually want Estonia to be Nordic, but they're such a small minority and often looked down upon for how they want the flag to be changed.
It is actually terribly offensive to tell us that we should change our flag after all we've been through for it. That is our national symbol and people who tell us to change it don't understand the weight of it.
Also on a smaller note "Estonia is doing whatever he can to get along with the Nordics" is implying Estonia doesn't or struggles to. That is just dragging both Estonia and the Nordics in the dirt because Himaruya clearly doesn't know the relations between all the Nordics and Estonia. It's sad really, to imply that they aren't all even friends.
Tumblr media
Where do I begin with THIS?
Dear mother nature itself do I hope this is a massive mistranlastion! This has to be THE WORST part of the whole page!
Himaruya Hidekaz , do you know an ounce of Baltic trio history? Does the Baltic Chain ring a bell? Have you heard of "Hurt one of us you hurt all of us"? What was he thinking when he thought of saying that Estonia would really watch Latvia and Lithuania basically destroy themselves while he ditches them for the Nordics? That is disgusting to so many many levels I can't even bring myself to speak further about it. The Baltics have a bond that goes beyond being lingually or culturally similar, you can be different and still be close. When one is in trouble we are always immediately ready to fight for eachother and it's been like that for over 30 years.
I'm sorry if this seems rushed or difficult to read but I am just so tired of this whole thing, and the anger I am feeling for the treatment of my small precious country is insane. This has definitely been the final straw for me but I am not going to leave Hetalia for this, no, I am staying to fight because unlike other communities, the Hetalia fandom is more willing to listen.
Please spread awareness of this, this really has to stop and I don't want the general fandom latching onto this view of Estonia.

I just want to let know, that if you, in 2023, still believe in making Estonia a Nordic obsessed wannabe and believe in there being no closeness between him, the Baltics and Nordics, and believe that the Nordics(besides Finland) all dislike him..
Then I'm sorry this blog isn't for you 😅
NB8 supremacy!

How would Estonia act if he's in a Lovecraftian horror situation? Like if he finds something beyond his common sense, would he leave it as it is? would he investigate? Tell someone else? What is his supernatural danger protocol?
Now that is an interesting question!
It all depends on the scenario you have in mind, but I will be flexible on it.
Eduard is definitely a curious man, but he'd preferably be cautious when it comes to something that could have no sense be made of it.
He would still at least try though, to learn what he can about it from a safe distance. If it's a legitimate threat to him or anyone else, he will especially study on how to harm or pacify it. (He would be open minded about the behavior of the creature and won't instantly assume it's pure evil.) Oh he would absolutely tell someone, he has faith in the Baltics and Nordics to hear him out, especially those who may have some knowledge in the supernatural like Norway, but really personally I feel like all of the NB8 know something. If that isn't enough he won't hesitate to go approach others like England or Scotland for example. Yes, their point is that they do magic and such, but for Eduard the line between supernatural and magic is blurry.
Speaking of blurry lines between supernatural and magic, if we do connect supernatural to magic in some way then BY MY HEADCANONS, he would be able to sense it's presence from afar already. As I headcanon Eduard being like a bit of a detector for these things. Especially considering Estonian mythology/folklore/beliefs.

Aye this year is the 30th anniversary of Nordic-Baltic 8's formation.
Lets all make it our goal this year to just really bring this group to some spotlight and make the fandom more aware of it's existence!
Let's all maybe collectively agree on a tag that becomes the usual Nordic-Baltic 8 tag, like #hws NB8 or #aph NB8!

|| Okay hear me out
Among Estonians and Finn's exists a mutual joke, if an Estonian/Finn gets drunk then they can speak Finnish/Estonian. It's meant to poke at how for eachother it feels like a drunk version of the language.
What if: That's an actual thing between Finland and Estonia
When Estonia gets drunk, it's like he gets locked into Finnish whenever he'd be trying to actually speak his own language.
The same with Finland, he gets drunk and gets locked into Estonian.
I like to headcannon that they do know eachother's languages and just this being a thing that happens would be so hilarious.
Estonia, drunk: * starts cursing and ranting in Finnish about something *
Finland, also drunk: * starts also cursing and ranting along in Estonian *
Rest of the NB-8:
