Days 15/16 of 31 for @clovercrafted's Buildtober: Ruins, Snow
For this build, I was inspired by the Hydropathic Sanatorium ruins in Oban, Scotland. I liked the orange bursts of color in the stonework, and it really made me scratch my head when coming up with a block palette.
My partner really wanted me to write a poem for this build, but I can't think of anything, so let me know if you've got a short poem in mind~

THINGS I HAVE ALREADY THOUGHT OF FOR THESE AUS I MENTIONED EARLIER FOR EASIER PLOTTING:
Supernatural AU (bc hello og fandom) - He’s a hunter; best at the hunting side of things, rather than the research side.
X-men AU - Mutant; Hydropath from his mother’s side of the family aka his grandfather on his mother’s side
Wizarding World AU - Gryffindor bc I refuse to mess around with the US side of things atm
just a general Marvel AU - I.... haven’t thought too much into it other than he’s either an enhanced soldier or smth.
Spy AU - Works for Statesman or Kingsman, has an idea of MI6, MI5 and other organizations and is an agent himself.
SPIDER-VERSE AU - VENOM. I don’t think I need to elaborate more than he’s Venom’s host.
I want something where Billy's been living in California and y'all can visit him - think this is self explanatory? maybe?
*SHAKES THE BARS OF MY CAGE* STAR. WARS. AU. PLEASE!! - He is absolutely force sensitive, but he uses it for pod racing and smuggling mostly. He has almost zero interest in being Jedi or Sith. He has a couple stolen lightsabers though that he’s either taken from the Imperials or found in rubbish heaps.
That cheerleader AU I posted at the beginning of yesterday
Good Omens AU - Demon, kinda bopping around doing his own thing but still easily meeting his quota; definitely supportive of the whole war between Heaven and Hell. Not too sure WHY anyone put Crowley in charge of anything???
Pirate AU - Captain of his own ship; definitely has a name for himself and is a pain in the ass for the British Royal Navy.
and Cryptid and Mythical Creature AU - Werewolf; changed when he was young; kind of a loner rather than having a pack or wanting to spend much time with his own kind.
PERCY JACKSON AU - child of hades

there’s a document on gutenberg called Fifty Years Hence, about how the author in 1892 thinks that 1943 will look, and obviously there’s the ‘Honey you’ve got a big storm comin’ moments but also I like these two bits:
1) dude predicts emojis but is off by close to a hundred years
The written language has been greatly enriched by characters to represent signs which in the year 1900 could not be expressed in writing or in printing; as, for instance, whistling, clucking and kissing, barking, howling, groaning, laughter, etc. In fact, every sound which can be imitated by the human voice may be so recorded upon paper that it can be read and reproduced by any one (not dumb) who can read and write.
2) the fact that he’s convinced that oh yeah public bathhouses are definitely gonna make a comeback btw
The law, which is the conservator of health as well as of morals and of peace, compels every house to have bathtubs in proportion to the number of people living therein; and bathing is practically made compulsory. Public baths in which, as in the days of the ancient Romans, men meet for social converse and the transaction of business, are maintained in every town of any importance; medicated and electrified plunges and showers being under the management of experts in hydropathic sanitation.

Atholl Palace Hotel & Museum
Set in the old servant’s wing of the Atholl Palace Hotel, charts the history of the hotel from when it first opened as a Hydropathic establishment in 1878 through to its re-opening after World War II and beyond. There are tales of bankruptcy, colorful entrepreneurs, Victorian servants, unusual and torturous spa treatments, renovations, and wartime evacuees turning hotel to school. The Atholl Palace museum also celebrates the work of Andrew Heiton Jr.,a prolific Perthshire architect, who not only designed the Atholl Palace Hotel but also shaped the character and style of Scottish Baronial architecture across Perthshire. The Atholl Palace Museum is the only museum of its kind to celebrate the social history of a hotel. In 2005, when it first opened it was the first hotel museum in the UK. The Atholl Palace is the first hotel in the world to have its building recreated in Minecraft blocks as an educational tool for a museum.

Normalized Semi-Covariance Co-Efficiency Analysis of Spike Proteins from SARS-CoV-2 variant Omicron and Other Coronaviruses for their Infectivity and Virulence
Preliminary report; Spectrum-based Mass-Charge modeling is increasingly used in biological analysis. To explain statistical phenomenon with positive and negative fluctuations of amino acid charges in spike protein sequences from Omicron and other coronaviruses, we propose calculation-based Mass-Charge modeling, a normalized derivation algorithm with exact Excel and MATLAB tool involving separate quadrant extension to normalized covariance, which is still compatible with Pearson covariance co-efficiency. The number of amino acids, molecular weight, isoelectric point, amino acid composition, charged residues, mass-charge ratio, hydropathicity of the proteins were taken into consideration in the analyses, and the relative peak and dip of the average with spike protein sequences based on hydrophobic mass to isoelectric charges of amino acids were also examined. The analyses with the algorithm provide more clear insights leading to revealing underline evolving trends of the viral proteins. Spike proteins from SARS-CoV-2 variants, seasonal and murine coronaviruses were taken as representative examples in this study. The analyses demonstrate that the Mass-Charge covariance co-efficiency can distinguish subtle differences between biological properties of spike proteins and correlate well with viral infectivity and virulence. https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.11.07.515557v1?rss=1%22&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr Read more ↓

Emile Cohl
Emile Cohl is a French cartoonist and animator, who's career spanning 300 films, earned him the title of 'the father of the animated cartoon'.
He had been interested in drawing and caricature throughout his life. His big break came in 1878 whilst working as an apprentice to one of France's most famous caricaturists Andre Gill, during this time, Cohl released two cartoons which targeted the French president at the time Patrice MacMahon. These works would have him fined and then jailed for 10 days in 1979, with the president resigning from his position three months later.
Censorship was lifted under the new president, and Cohl joined several artists group. Firstly the Hydropathes and later the Incoherents. Cohl became editor-in-chief of the Incoherents magazine 'La nouvelle lune'. The artists crude and child-like style of drawing gained a cult following both in France and around the world.
It was then that Emile turned to animation at 50 years old. Inspired by John Stuart Blackton's animated shorts such as 'humorous phases of funny faces'-1906, Cohl produced some animated special effects for the Gaumont film company where he worked as a script-writer. He then went on to create his animated film debut 'Fantasmagorie' in 1907. Animation was still an emerging media and so there were no guides on how to animate. Cohl studied Blackton's works extensively before devising his technique using an illuminated glass plate. He would then trace the next drawing. When completed, 'Fantasmagorie' consisted of around 700 drawings. As chalkboard drawings were popular at the time, he printed his drawings as negatives so the black lines on white paper would instead look like chalk drawings.
He joined film company Pathe for a year before moving onto the Eclipse studios. He was also allowed to make films for other picture companies such as Eclair, one of these projects being an adaptation of George Mcmanus' popular newspaper comic 'the newlyweds', all previous adaptations had been live action and so this was the first animated series based on a comic.
In 1914, the Eclair studios burnt down, destroying a majority of their films including Cohl's. The beginning of the First World War also prevented Cohl being able to send any of his work overseas. During the war, Cohl worked on two animated series, firstly 'les dessins anime's de Benjamin Rabier' and also 'Les pieds Nickeles'
Cohl Passed away in 1938 however his legacy of work has continued many filmmakers including; Winsor McCay, Rahul Barre, John Randolph Bray, and Paul Grimault.

This image and many others are available on refrigerator magnets, postcards, etc. Click to visit my shop.⁣ https://mistysworldboutique.etsy.com ⁣ I'm here with a French poster which advertised a former nightclub known as "Le Chat Noir" or "The Black Cat".⁣ ⁣ Opened in 1881 by Rodolphe Salis, it was originally called "Cabaret Artistique". It was intended to be a café in "the purest style of Louis XII," with wrought iron chandeliers, where patrons could drink hypocras in golden bowls and absinthe in the manner of Victor Hugo and Garibaldi.⁣ ⁣ Salis rented the cheapest accomodation he could find, a two-room site in Montmartre. The wine was bad, the decor was poor, but a splendidly dressed Swiss Guard was stationed at the door, tasked with bringing in artists and poets while keeping out priests and the military.⁣ ⁣ Its success was assured by the patronage of writer Émile Goudeau and his literary club known as "Les Hydropathes," meaning "Those who fear water" (hence they drank only spirits).⁣🥃 ⁣ As Le Chat Noir prospered, it grew and in 1885 it moved to a new location. Famous patrons included Paul Verlaine, Claude Debussy and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec to name a few. Another patron was Swiss artist Théophile Steinlen who had a fondness for cats, including them in many of his works. In 1896 he designed this poster.⁣ ⁣ Some of the artists had created a small shadow theatre in the club.👥️️ The shadow plays grew in popularity and eventually the troupe, with Salis, went on tour, traveling throughout France and as far as Tunis and Algeria. The spread of these shows was made successful by Steinlen's poster. The words mean "Coming Soon. Tour of the Black Cat. ⁣ ⁣ Salis had planned to move the cabaret from Montmartre to Paris, but he died in march 1897. With him died the cabaret. The artists dispersed and the club closed down, to the dismay of Picasso and others who looked for it during the Paris Exposition of 1900. ⁣ ⁣ Today the original site at 84 Boulevard de Rochechouart is occupied by an Auchan store, but a plaque telling the cabaret's history is mounted outside. ⁣ ⁣ While the cabaret may be gone, cats are at their height of popularity!😻
