There's lot you need to consider before going for a tattoo apprenticeship, you have to plan ahead before diving head first into one

Money

You will likely not get paid! It's as simple as that. Alot of tattoo apprenticeships will not pay you to come into the studio no matter how much work you're doing. Its a hard pill to swallow but if you want it you'll find a way to do it!

If your going to go into an apprenticeship then you need to plan for at least a year down the line. Some advice I'd give is get an apprenticeship a year after you decide that's what your going to do. Work a full time job and save every bit of money you can. This is going to help cover some expenses. Tattoo apprenticeships usually last around 2-4 years so you need to be able to support yourself through it. Also during this year try and get a few side hustles going in order for you to make money both in this year and later on. There's a few things you can do here In terms of side hustles

Sell your artwork as commisions- This should be a good way to make money before and during your apprenticeship! Not only will it bring you in some income, it'll also help you by making you practice drawings and building up a social media presence in the meantime which Is essential for when your a tattoo artist to reach your desired clientel.

Sell your artwork on prints! This one is alot more passive than selling commisions but you'll need a bit more of an online presence. You can get this through posting your art, doing commisions ect in order to build up an audience before you do this (I'll talk about social media later) use a print on demand service in the begibibg that way your not keeping inventory on things that your testing the water on. Keep in mind though when looking for a print on demand service that you look at the fees as this may affect your income also list then on places like etsy where the seo is done for you and you can really mark up the price for your products!

Learn to fix phone screens. I know what your thinking this has nothing to do with tattooing but hear me out! You can watch YouTube tutorials on fixing things like iphones and it's actually easier than you think! You can buy the parts and the tools dirt cheap on ebay and aliexpress and then fix them for a decent profit! It's a good way to make money through friends and family and word of mouth but it also means if things you need for your apprenticeship break like your phone or ipad you won't have to pay nearly as much to fix it! Which if your clumsy like me then you can save alot of money!

There's alot you can do in the year before you go for an apprenticeship! You just have to think back to ehen you were a teenager saving up for the latest thing you wanted and finding random jobs to help get pocket money! It might sound all a bit much but you have to set yourself up financially before you go for an apprenticeship. I wish someone told me some of this before I went and got one as before I started piercing at the studio (nearly a year in) I was broke as shit.

Research

You need to do your research before you apply to any studio! It's not like you can throw a dart on a map and see where it lands! Go on their social media platforms, look at their stories (this is a big indicator of what the studio has produced throughout the day! See if its busy or not).

Have a look through the artists work! If you wouldn't want that quality or standard of work on your body don't apply! Also have a look at the styles the artists use, this isn't exactly essential but it can help you if you want to specialise in a specific area! If an artist uses mostly black and grey and tattoos animals then it's a bonus if that's what you want to do to! If not this isn't the end of the world as you cam learn alot and you won't be made to go into that specific style! The best thing to look for is a varied style! An artist or studio that does all different things so you can learn how to become a more well rounded artists as if you can do bits of everything then your going to get more clients. Remember "Jack of all trades a master of none, often times better than a master of one"

It comes as no surprise but you have to understand at least the basics of how to draw and how to apply different media. This year is a perfect opportunity to polish up and refine your art skills and creating your portfolio! I'll touch on art skills and portfolio work in a another post!!

Keigo spends hours on patrol friday morning thinking about his boyfriend and the voicemails he left.

He nearly flies into a billboard and does smack himself into a glass door.

He misses Dabi's jokes about him being a dumb bird.

Does he want to be called dabi? Or touya?

He had his boyfriend who he loves, and he does love him despite how hes acted, calling him and telling him that he would be whoever keigo wanted him to be if he just came back.

He calls in sick to work and hangs up the phone before he can be guilted into going in. He has in the past. When he wasn't dragged in by handlers.

He still locks the door. Even though a handler can't show up and drag him into work or training anymore. Old habits die hard sometimes.

His boyfriend probably flinched when he slammed the door.

The first step to fixing this is a call. It's not nearly enough but it's a start. Provided Dabi/touya picks up.

He picks up his phone and dials 'Hotshit'

It's not Dabi who answers.

Its shigaraki tomura himself.

"Give me one good reason I should give this phone back to Dabi."

Keigo racks his brain for a awnser. For any answer that's going to explain his behavior.

This is someone who considers his boyfriend part of a family he founded.

He would murder anyone who dared to treat tokoyami the way he's treated Dabi/Touya. And tokoyami is just his intern.

"Because I've spent 30 hours thinking almost non-stop about how much I don't ever want to hear my boyfriend sound like he did monday night again." Its true. keigo wants nothing more than to scoop his boyfriend up and show him the care he's been getting since day one.

"I was the one who took his phone out of his hands. I was the one who stayed with him that night and comforted him. Why was I there when you should have been Hawks?" Shigaraki snarls into the phone but despite the very real threat on the other side of the line keigo feels relief.

Dabi/Touya hadn't been alone.

"Thank you for staying with him when I was busy shoving my head so far in the sand the commision should have named me ostrich."

The weak joke does nothing to cover the relief in his voice.

" I was so scared he had been alone and I've spent the last day and a half thinking about how much I love him. No matter what he wants to be called and thinking of how I'm going to spend the rest of our relationship proving to him how much I dont ever want him to change for me. For anyone. Please shigaraki tomura- san, let me speak to my boyfriend."

There is a long pause before a quite "kei" is heard over the phone.

Keigo is not ashamed that he nearly breaks down crying right then and there.

"I'm so so sorry babe. I believe you. I do. I'm sorry. I want to see you and give you as much attention as you've given me, I never even noticed and I want to help you bring that flaming peice of trash to justice if you let me and I'm going to get rid of all my merch-"

Theres a low chuckle on the other end. "Ive wanted to torch that shit since I've met you. It sounds like a date pretty bird. You've got some shit to make up for."

Keigo nods even though his boyfriend can't see it. "I know. I've also got some questions for you if it's okay. Some things I've been thinking about and need to know. some explanations to give. I'm not going to make excuses but I do want to explain myself some."

Dabi/touya gives a quite hum. " we need to do that face to face.Tomorrow pretty bird? Noon?"

Keigo breathes in relief. 5 days and he finally feels like he can breath without a struggle. "Sounds good to me. I love you."

"I love you too keigo. Now get some sleep. I know you've been running yourself ragged." The line clicks and the call ends.

Lin/Playa Headcanons

This has been a top priority post since I made this blog believe it or not. This will also be specifically a female Playa/Boss character because I personally headcanon Lin as a lesbian

This post also goes out to @syndicateau because wlw Lin rights

Lin had pretty low expectations of The Playa when they first met, she shared Johnny’s opinion of the new girl. Doesn’t look like much and a little bummed out she got stuck babysitting the new girl instead of working with a more experienced Saint

That being said, Lin was however relieved that the new kid was a girl. There’s not many in the Saints at the time and Lin was getting real sick of some of these asshole dudes and their gross comments so The Playa is a breath of fresh air, even though they’re pretty quiet most of the time

Lin was pretty quickly impressed with The Playa. She was efficient, skilled, and followed Lin’s plans, never tried to outshine her or do her own thing because she thinks her plan is better than Lin’s or some crap

And even when The Playa went off the plan, it actually helped the plan instead of just derailing it and putting them back at square one

Not to mention she was also pretty cute and Lin certainly wasn’t going to complain about working with someone easy on the eyes

Lin was also one of the first people in the Saints to hear The Playa talk

She made some witty comment when they were scoping out Donnie’s garage and it took Lin a moment to process it was The Playa who said something next to her

Lin tried to coax more out of the girl be joking how she didn’t know she could even talk but she’s met with more silence and a shrug

She doesn’t have an explanation for replaying that dumb joke The Playa made in her head and ruining her focus after that

It wasn’t even that funny, what the hell

After that, Lin tries to get The Playa to talk more in various different ways. She says it’s just to prove she’s not crazy and that the girl definitely can talk, but in actuality she just liked their voice and wants to hear it more. And the fact that she could in theory have Actual Conversations with her and make excuses to talk to her more was a Big plus for Lin

Her “plans” to get The Playa to talk consist of just leaving extended pauses between certain sentences when she’s talking about her plans to leave her a chance to speak up. And also of directly asking her random questions when they’re hanging out that aren’t as simple as yes or no

The questions plan works a few times. Asking why she’s in the Saints or trying to ask anything about her past really will usually coax a comment about how it’s “not worth the time” or how it’s “in the past so what does it matter?”

The Playa also starts chiming in with more witty comments as time goes on, all of them about as funny as a piece of wet cardboard usually but Lin laughs anyways

She doesn’t have an excuse for that and Johnny makes fun of her for it relentlessly because “Damn, Lin. I didn’t know you had such a shitty sense of humor.” And other wise comments

Speaking of Johnny: He and Aisha both act as (albeit shitty) wingmen for Lin and The Playa because they know Damn Well what’s going on between them even if neither Lin or The Playa will admit it

Johnny gets a rise out of The Playa by always making random comments about how “Hey, you seen Lin today? She’s lookin’ pretty hot—“ and then continues to describe Lin in literally just whatever clothes he thinks of first because he really doesn’t pay attention to Lin like that ever but The Playa does

She always corrects him with an added comment about how weird it is that he was looking because she’s kind of gullible and she doesn’t catch on that he’s just messing with her

Aisha and Johnny both repeatedly try asking Lin about The Playa like “The Playa’s kind of attractive, and you work with her a lot, you thinkin’ about making any moves?”

Lin always responds with the same eyeroll and dodging the question. “I don’t really have the time, Eesh, I’m busy” or “You work with her a lot too, Johnny, you sure you don’t wanna try anything?”

That’s not a no, Lin

Lin starts taking The Playa to Freckle Bitch’s and to street races she’s competing in when she doesn’t need to be hiding or undercover from Rollerz

She says it’s just because she wants to talk business with her or that she wants The Playa there “just in case any Rollerz show up to ruin the fun”

But we all know she just wants excuses to spend time with her and maybe show off a little

Girls totally dig street racers right?

She also starts taking the time to help The Playa learn how to race better and offers to help her fix up her cars for racing

Lin’s actually pretty private about her work when she’s working on her voxel, but she never minds The Playa hanging around when she’s busy with the car

It’s another chance to show off for her of course she’s totally okay with The Playa’s presence

The Playa literally couldn’t understand less about what the fuck Lin is saying when she’s talking technical about all the guts of mechanic work but she listens intently nonetheless

If Lin cares about it then shit so does she

Not to mention Lin’s kind of hot when she’s working on the car and gets all passionate and into it

The Playa is reasonably a little touchy and jealous about Lin stringing Donnie along even for the mission

Lin actually seems to enjoy the time she spends with Donnie and starts mentioning unrelated pieces of information from their time like shitty jokes Donnie made or Donnie being a klutz

The Playa is starting to think she had Lin pegged all wrong and misunderstood all the signals because it’s starting to look like Lin is actually into Donnie and even if she had a chance before she probably missed it now

Johnny and Aisha think that’s absolutely ridiculous because They Know Lin doesn’t swing that way but they aren’t about to be the assholes who out her, even though Johnny comes close one time when The Playa is trying his patience with all this “woe is me” crap

When Mr.Sharp has Lin in the pool hall, it takes him a painstaking anount of time to get Lin to comply and lure The Playa there

She was not about to get her stuck in this situation with her. It’s her problem and whether she’d ever admit it out loud or not, she doesn’t want her to get hurt. Especially not because of her own mistake

Eventually she only complies because she thinks that if anyone could end this with Sharp dead and neither of them severely injured, it’s The Playa

Jokes on her, I guess, huh?

Oh Boy here’s where it gets fun. I’m gonna split the rest into 2 different versions. One where Lin lives and one where she dies.

Lin Dies

The Playa doesn’t even think for a second that Lin needs her to get her out of the water

Lin’s too fucking badass, she doesn’t need help, she can handle herself

The Playa was too blindsighted by her anger at Donnie and Sharp to think twice about it. She gets out of the water and fucking bolts for the first car she can grab and races off because she’s going to fucking kill Sharp and she’s really going to teach Donnie a fucking lesson for betraying Lin’s trust like that

Lin loved him and he just left her and The Playa to fucking drown? Oh, he’s going to fuckin’ get it

She doesn’t find out until the next day that Lin drowned...she drowned because she didn’t help her

She was so caught up in killing Sharp and how Donnie betrayed Lin that she didn’t think for a second that she was ultimately the one who put the last nail in Lin’s coffin. She is the one who betrayed Lin the worst

Johnny and Eesh do their beat to keep The Playa’s spirits up but Johnny is Johnny and isn’t much comfort or help and she’s not the most comfortable with confiding in Aisha at the time

They do take her to tag along on some of their smaller dates though and Johnny starts putting time into trying to find where Donnie ran off to because “revenge is the best medicine”

Donnie and The Boss really get into it in SR2 when she finds him throwing the flowers into Lin’s watery grave

Donnie’s really fucking confused at first when she’s yelling at him for betraying Lin’s trust and love like he did. He manages to get in a few words that makes The Boss pause for a moment because Donnie definitely just established that he thought Lin and her were together

“You what? What the fuck made you think that?”

“I-I don’t know! She really liked you a-and I just kind of assumed—“

The Boss originally was just interested in revenge but now she’s going to get Donnie to rig some Brotherhood trucks so she isn’t just wasting time while she interrogates him about Lin

Whomp whomp whomp, turns out he and Lin talked about cars, her, and Joseph and there was never anything romantic there

“I can’t believe you thought me and Lin— We were both gay, what the hell, man. I thought you knew about her.”

The Boss also decides then and there that she’s not done with Donnie yet though, she wants him to hurt like she hurt for so long

Lin Lives

When Lin wakes up in a fucking ambulance she’s really fucking confused because she should be dead

She used what breath she had left to get The Playa out, what the fuck is she doing alive and on her way to the hospital?

Lin absolutely cannot believe for a second that The Playa wasted precious time to save her. She didn’t think they cared about others that much, let alone her

She hates being cooped up in the hospital and hates Julius’ babysitters waiting with her while the Rollerz are still around, but honestly she doesn’t mind when The Playa shows up between missions to tell her in detail how she killed Sharp and later Joseph

And after the Rollerz are out, while The Playa still doesn’t have a ton of free time, she still visits as much as she can just to talk

She talks a lot now

Jokes about how much money she’s being forced to dosh out on mechanics while Lin is out of commision

Talks about that one time Mr.Wong hired her to kill a hot dog mascot and about how she fucked up bad enough that it took her $500 at Forgive & Forget to get the cops off of her ass

Tells Lin about how Johnny is ever the classy guy and got his knee blown out with a shotgun from Big Tony because he couldn’t help from making a sex joke about Tanya and how Dex and Troy are constantly at each others’ throats with The Carnales

It’s like the new girl just doesn’t shut up ever now

And funny enough, Lin finds that she really doesn’t mind. She really likes talking to this girl

Oh no, Johnny was right

Lin thinks for a while about date ideas she can ask The Playa on after she gets discharged but they all sound annoying, lame, and way too cushy for her tastes

Ultimately she invites The Playa to her place because “Fuck it, after all the shit we’ve done I don’t care. I almost died and I’m not about to miss my chance again because I can’t think of something like a date idea.”

The Playa is very confused at all the increasingly obvious passes Lin is making towards her when they’re at her crib because they’re still pretty sure she was into Donnie and not her

Lin has the patience of a rock and gets frustrated and gives up within the first hour or two, “How are you this stupid?! How am I still attracted to you?! I’m trying to get into your fucking pants, do you wanna fuck or not?”

In SR2, it turns out Lin had the same idea as The Boss and they ran into each other at the courthouse both trying to break Johnny out.

They work as well together as they always have, it’s like almost no time has passed at all

Ok so! 

This Au was originally inspired by @residentanchor‘s amazing fanfic A Lesson in Practicality and also a little bit by @prettyinaccurate‘s fanged virgil au( I’ll get more into that further down) 

So it takes place in a (currently) unnamed bigger city I based off San Francisco and Sacramento( because I live in Cali and those are the two major cities ive really visited ya know?) The boys are all in various stages of their twenties when they move into a four bedroom apartment together: Patton Foster is the oldest of the roomies at 27, then Logan Masters at 26, Roman Prince at 24, and finally Virgil Collins at 22. They move in together because it all works out for them really, the apartment is in a good distance to all their current jobs, whether by bus or even in Pat’s case in walking distance and with all four of them it was well affordable and was pretty nice. I mean hey it even came with a little communal balcony ( since theyre on third floor of the building) 

Things are understandably a little rocky at first , i mean isnt it always though?

Virgil has alot of anxiety and so he tends not to talk really at all at the beginning unless he ABSOLUTELY had to, mostly communicating in noncomittal noises and soft grumbles, and he was fresh out of collage and barely two years into his job and out on his own for the first time and he wasnt really ready for it either like christ too many people

Patton was bright bubbly and caring. This wasnt his first rodeo with roomies, I mean cmon, hes been sharing a room with his older brother Damian(deceit) on and off almost all his freakin life, nor was it his first time living on his own with strangers(hes lived in two different parts of two when he was job hopping before he settled down in his current part time job)

Roman was extroverted loud and exciteable, he too was used to sharing his living space( he had TWO siblings after all) and before he had moved into the apartment he had tried living on his own and with other roommates while he attended collage, but those just didnt work out well ( he ended up staying with his older brother Remy in his studio apartment across the city while he finished out that semester and searched for a job to keep an income.

Logan was serious minded stern toned and confident, he had a minor degree in teaching that he was slowly repursueing and had been out on his own for awhile before he had moved in. And though cold at first he soon found his group of housemates...enjoyable.

Its about a month into them living together that they learn exactly why despite slowly getting close and getting to know each other Virgil still kept a wide distance: He had entirely sharp teeth.

“ I dunno....I was born with them..theyve always been a sharp pain in my ass...” - virgil, about his teeth

Of course just having sharp teeth wasnt bad enough oh no. You see a few years back when he was about 18 he was young and dumb and made horrifically stupid and reckless decisions under peer pressure and ended up doing something that not only pointedly (haha oh god im not funny) chipped his front teeth but it fucked up his teeth pretty majorly, he went from having a normal overbite to almost having a goddamn underbite and crooked all his teeth, and the only way to fix it( because somehow miraculous for all the damage done it turned out to be mostly reversable aside from the chipping) was getting braces to realign his teeth. So he’s had pretty purple braces over his fangs since he was 18 and they werent expected to come off until he was AT LEAST 25 and he was insecure about them. ( he got mocked for them through his two and a half years of junior collage)

Once the gang finds out they are understanding and helpful and dont make a big deal about it( though virgil gains a significant amount of more vampire related nicknames from roman)

Once they get close and comfortable around each other the apartment is pretty warm and lively! 

Virgil works at the art store as an assistant manager and head stocker( a bit of a dream come true since he was an art student)

Roman works as a part time waiter at a family resturant as well as working at a nearby theater( he was of course a lovely theater major) 

Patton worked at a nearby cafe and bakery as a bit of everything! He helped wait tables, serve behind the counter, and helped in the back in the kitchen( the owners were family friends and he’d been working there almost four to five years at that point, boi knows how to do everything) 

Logan worked at a big name bookstore, and also provided tutoring sessions for highschool students on the side by commision

More FACTS~~

Family ages for the big families go as follows:

Fosters: Damian(28), Patton(27)

Prince: Remy(26), Roman(24, older twin by 10 minutes), Remus(24, younger twin)

Emile is 27 and is a licensed therapist and works as a counselor for young adults that volunteers at the nearby library to ready to children

Remy works as a coffee barista in Emile’s building

Remus does alot of odd jobs, kinda working as an independent for hire and gets a surprising steady flow of work and pay. Hes still a trash man though, but hes a successful trash man( partly thanks to Damian calling in favors with connections)

Damian works at a law firm slowly moving into the position of prosecutor

Virgil doesnt really get along with his family and at some point Emile offers to take virgil in as his adopted brother, with Damian assuring him if he wanted concrete legal papers to start changing his last name, cutting ties with his family, anything needed for it he’d see to it that they’d be providing(something our boi really appreciates)

Remy visits Emile on his breaks since hes literally just...two hallways down and vice versa

Damian and Remus live together in the next, slightly smaller city over because Damian’s work transferred him to a different office in order for him to keep moving up in the ranks so to speak. 

Hes also good at what he does.

Family nights happen whenever they can

Patton got to teach them how to cook alot of complicatied dishes from scratch, a bonding time he adores

Roman got Virgil an Espeon hoodie after they all start dating and virgil loves it and wears it alot around the house because its a thicker hoodie and warm( though he tries to ignore the big ears and the obnovious tail

Virgil also loves visiting Roman’s work on what Ro likes to refer to as “ hellish days” AKA kids day which means goofy kid friendly theme days. His favorite was probably alice in wonderland day when Roman was Tweedle Dee

Roman played J.D at the local theater and likes to hum some of the his songs to switch up the Disney

The balcony is covered in houseplants and and a corner of old blankets and pillows to sit and chill on

Once a month Logan and Patton have what is affectionately referred to as the Cat Discourse

After any particularly rough days at work Patton tends to massage Logan’s shoulders and back to make sure Lo doesnt get any really bad stress knots

in return when Logan sees Patton’s head a hard day he makes Patton’s favorite drink and pulls him into a hug and let the older man fall asleep in his arms while they watch movies

Pat and roman sense each other’s bad days and order in some cliche diner food and hole up in pattons room with Pattons computer and relax the shittiness away with comedy specials and movies 

Likewise Virgil has a knack of picking up Roman’s bad days and always grabs a couple glasses and a bottle kinda cheap wine and they end up curling up together on Romans bed marathoning Disney movies on Virgil’s laptop 

and when Virgil closes himself off more than normal Logan manages to lure him out of his room and they end up sitting out on the balcony quietly talking and stargazing

so loving and fond and soft with each other

you hurt one of them you gonna get BEAT by the others. 

Speaking of getting beat, never EVER mess with Roman or Remus in Remy’s proximity

Remy Andrew Prince can and WILL fuck you right up if you hurt his little brothers. He’s protective.

and where Remy will rearrange your face Damian will ruin you mentally and legally if you so much as mistreat a single freckle on his little brother’s face, despite knowing that Patton is fully capable of taking care of himself. 

Everyone protects Virgil, dont mess with or hurt virgil or you have the pack coming for ya throat

I was able to finish this a bit earlier than I was aiming for so I figured I may as well post it.

The cake was delicious just like Ben said it would be, which had made me glad I’d had some- or a lot. Viv and I had continued to talk for a bit after we came inside, and we continued on like that until we were gathered around.

Flutes of champagne were passed around as the king prepared to toast. I took two glasses from a passing waiter and held one out to Viv.

“More alcohol.” I smiled, as Viv took the glass. “Excellent.”

She pressed the flute against her glass, glancing over at me in amusement. Since my whole no drinking thing had gone to shit I figured I may as well enjoy it. And if this was anywhere near as good as some of the wines and champagnes I’d seen in the cellar then I was going to be a very happy woman.

“You know, I'm starting to like balls even more now.”

I let out a snort at her comment, trying not to choke as I took a sip of champagne. I didn’t think she’d realised what she said. Oh, sweet Vivienne. Of course, I had taken it that way.

“You and me both, Viv.” I bit back a laugh as I held my glass up against the light to inspect the champagne. “Hm, interesting choice.”

The champagne was a bit too sweet for my liking. It also didn’t seem to have been chilled long enough. But taste and temperature aside I sure as hell was going to drink it, especially knowing that my glass alone likely cost more than the dress I was wearing.

Beside me, Viv followed suit and took a sip. Judging by the slight change in her expression she also wasn’t a fan.

“Why?” She asked, eyeing her own glass, before drinking some more. “Tastes like the regular shit rich people drink at these kinds of stuff.”

“Honestly, I would have expected something a bit better.” I leaned in to whisper with a shrug.

I didn’t want to say it too loud in case the wrong person was in earshot. I’d stepped on enough toes that night, so I was going to be a bit less vocal with any grievances I had.

“Right.” She agreed, taking another drink. “Say, would you think this drink has a pretty high alcohol concentration?”

I shook my head. As alcohol went champagne was pretty mild, though given the carbonation it tended to hit you a bit faster. That coupled with the fact that it usually tasted similar to juice was what made it notorious.

“No, maybe 12%.” I glanced over at her and saw she didn’t look all there. “Hey, are you okay?”

Before she could answer she keeled over beside me as the sounds of screams and sharp pops filled the ballroom. She reached up and put a hand on my shoulder. I looked around in confusion but quickly realised what was going on. Around us, shots were being fired, with guests falling to the floor.

The sour smell of gunpowder hit me, followed by my the familiar scent of iron. Blood.

As I turned back I spotted the same waiter from before who I’d gotten the champagne from. But instead of a tray and glasses, he now held a handgun. After a split second of consideration, I hurled my unfinished glass of champagne towards him. Viv looked up at me as the delicate flute crashed into him sending bubbly and glass shards into his face. There was loud pop as his gun discharged. My ears began to ring, and my heart beat fast as I turned to Viv to see if she was alright. Thankfully there wasn’t a mark on her.

“What did you do that for?” She yelled at me breathlessly, giving me a look of disbelief. “Ah!”

I went to lean in closer to Viv but stopped as I became aware of the searing pain in my arm. I wanted to tell her I hadn’t known what else to do. but found I couldn’t. All I could muster was a cough and a wheezing noise as I gasped for air.

My ears continued to ring as the echoes from the shots around me made my head begin to throb. Viv’s hand tightened on my shoulder as she tried to steady herself. To my surprise, she regained her composure and reached for my other shoulder, where the pain was coming from.

Oh shit.

“Don't freak out but we need to get out of here and get you some-” Viv fell to her knees beside me, taking a few laboured breaths. “Go... find... help.”

I continued gasping for air as the pain spread out from my shoulder, and caused the rest of my body to go numb. I did my best to kneel beside Viv but fell forward. As my arms instinctually went out to catch me I let out a cry as the pain worsened and my vision began to blur.

All because I didn’t like the fucking champagne.

Viv gasped for air, clutching her chest with her unsoiled hand. She gave me one final look before she fell against the ground, unconscious. I did my best to move towards her. I felt the warmth of her skin beneath my palms as I gripped her shoulders through my pain.

“Viv?” I choked.

Black spots started to appear in my vision, while the sounds of screaming and gunshots began to dull. I almost felt warm… and sleepy…

I should sleep.

I let go of Viv and leaned forward against the floor.

What a nice pillow...

After the events of the previous night, I was exhausted. Since waking up from surgery I’d been in and out of consciousness- they’d said the pain medication could do that.

“Lucky” they’d said. Very lucky. It turns out that the quick medical attention I’d received had saved my life. A few minutes more and the blood loss would have killed me- if the oxygen deprivation hadn’t finished the job first.

I was laying in bed, just watching as doctors and nurses went by my room, really unable to do much more. Though that wasn’t my only reason. No one was giving me too many details on the conditions of anyone else and my best hope was catching things in passing.

At some point, I took my eyes away from the door to turn my head to drink. Unable to do much given my injuries the nurses had set up a water bottle with a straw so I could drink when I wanted to- which as it turned out was often given the meds. As I drank a loud noise echoed out of the bottle, warning me that I was nearly out of water.

There were a couple knocks at my door, which caused me to turn my head. I winced as a twinge of pain shot through my shoulder. Slowly. Ben stood in the doorway, holding a vase full of lilies seeming much less put together than his normal self. He had multiple bruises on his face, which I stared at for a moment, before swallowing.

“Everyone decent?” He seemed to force a smile.

“Depends on your definition of decent,” I told him in a hushed tone, as he stepped into my room, shutting the door behind him.

I wasn’t yet able to speak normally, and when I did speak I got tired pretty easily. With one lung out of commision and the other working overtime, it wasn’t a cake walk. Silence was my new best friend- at least for the next couple weeks.

“This might be a stupid question, but how are you feeling?” He asked, walking over.

“Like I’ve been better.” I breathed, leaning back into my pillows, as I eyed his injuries.

He set the vase down beside my water bottle and went to pull up a chair.

“I know, and I know all your injuries, so don’t worry about talking.” His brows furrowed while he looked me over as he sat down. “Just wanted to see how you’re doing”

“Me? Not talking? Good luck with that.” I gave him a weak smile.

I reached out to run my fingertips along his cheek that didn’t have any bruises. I’d had my surgery, was on my painkillers, and had a team of doctors making sure I didn’t develop a post-op infection. I would live. But Ben truly seemed rattled.

“I should be the one asking you how you are,” I said in a voice so soft I wasn’t sure he’d hear.

“Nothing a couple ice packs won’t fix.” He flashed me a crooked smile as he took my hand with his.

I gave him a sceptical look but decided to let it go for now. If he didn’t want to talk about it then now wasn’t the time to ask. That was the last thing he needed.

“And your family… Viv…?”

The last I remembered of Viv was her lifeless body on the floor as I was running out of breath. She’d tried so hard to help me but whatever had been in her drink had stopped her and she had collapsed beside me. Poison. I’d heard the nurses whispering it while they thought I was too far asleep to hear. Dead.

“Family’s okay. I’ve... yet to check on Viv, but from what I heard she’s still sleeping.”

“Sleeping?” I tried to hold back as I felt the urge to cry. “You’re sure?”

I looked away from him and focused on the wall, desperately trying to collect myself. I didn’t want to cry- couldn’t. I needed to keep myself together, if not for myself then for Ben at least. The palace was his home, and home was supposed to be the safest place.

Both his hands wrapped around mine and squeezed.

“Positive.” He told me. “I’ve asked about every single one of you.”

I tried to take a deep breath in order to calm down but only felt pain as I wheezed. Don’t let him see you like this.

“I saw her die. She was on the ground next to me.” I sniffled, turning back to him.

“She didn’t die.” He shook his head, as he spoke to me in a gentle tone. “Viv and other people were poisoned through their drinks, but they were given an antidote in time. She only passed out, never died, alright?”

I leaned forward a bit, trying to keep it all in. Don’t panic. It’s no big deal. You were only shot and a shit ton of people poisoned.

“What the hell happened?” I asked him, with my eyes widening as I pleaded with him. “I’ve heard the doctors and nurses saying people died. And no one will tell me who or why.”

I began to take in shallow breaths as the panic set in. I needed answers. I was sick of sitting in this bed and being treated like a child. I’d been in that room, my friends had been in that room.

“A few guests were the ones who died, no Selected.” Ben pressed his lips together, swallowing before he continued. “As for why we’re still figuring that out. Investigations are ongoing but we’re doing our best.”

“How many?” I whispered, squeezing his hand.

“Fifteen.” Ben sighed, looking away for a moment. “Fifteen people. At my birthday party.”

I took my hand out of his and put it on his cheek. He had nothing to be guilty for. Ben had lived, but he had nothing to be sorry for. He couldn’t have known what would happen.

“And that isn’t your fault.” I shook my head. “So you can’t blame yourself, no matter how much you want to. And it might be selfish of me but I’m happy you didn’t make sixteen.”

He leaned into my hand for a moment. I wished I could take away all of his pain. Ben didn’t deserve what he must have been going through.

“But I am sorry I couldn't protect you, all of you. Prevent all of this.” He gestured to my shoulder.

“Lungs heal, and arteries stop bleeding,” I said, trying to give him a smile. “The worst part of this for me is that I ruined that gorgeous dress and I can’t have alcohol for the foreseeable future. Okay?”

I felt a pang of guilt as I listened to myself lie to him. The scent of gunpowder and blood would haunt me for a long time. And the screaming… I hadn’t really escaped the sound yet. The only time it stopped was when my medication put me to sleep.

“Not okay, but... I appreciate the sentiment.” He did his best to return the smile.

“But you will be, we’ll all be. If not now then eventually.” I stroked his cheek with my thumb. “Even if you don’t feel like it’ll ever happen.”

That part was true. There wasn’t a light at the end of the tunnel yet, but at some point, there would be. I didn’t think any of us could ever forget, we could only let the memories fade.

“I hope so, at least.” He rested his elbow on the bed as he used his fist to prop up his fist.

“I know so.” I grimaced as I tilted my head towards him.

“You should try not to move so much, it's obviously not pleasant,” Ben told me, having noticed my reaction.

I shrugged, which only made it worse. Fuck. People always tell you getting shot hurts, but that doesn’t prepare you for the pain. I’d been kicked by a horse before and compared to this that had been nothing.

“I’m fine.” I lied.

I gritted my teeth as I breathed through the pain. It had to almost be time for my meds again. It just had to be. I’d never been a fan of taking medication but painkillers had become my new hero overnight.

“Ophelia.” He said, slightly admonishing me. “Take care of yourself. Can I call for some medication? Or something to help you sleep?”

“The nurse will come when it’s time for more. And I’ve been sleeping enough.” I tried to sit up higher.

Sleep may have been the only time I didn’t think about what had happened, and I appreciated that, but I hated falling asleep. Every time the medication kicked in it felt like passing out in the ballroom all over again.

Ben put his hand on my uninjured shoulder and gently pushed me back against the bed. I looked up at him with a scowl. I was so over this already.

“Please rest? For me?”

“I hate this.” I sighed.

“Like you said, it'll get better.” He smiled a little, as he leaned forward to press a kiss against my brow. “Faster you rest faster you'll get better.”

“I can’t hear you.” I groaned, closing my eyes, causing him to chuckle.

“I’ll say it again if you need me to.” He leaned back. “But for now I’ll let you rest.”

I sighed and opened my eyes. I didn’t want him to go, but he was probably right. If I wanted to recover quickly I was just going to have to suck it up.

“Will you get me some water?” I asked, eyeing my empty bottle.

“Of course.” He stood up to leave. “I’ll be right back.”

By the time Ben had returned with my water bottle, I must have fallen asleep. It must have been a relief to him. But it wasn’t to me, because the shooting pain in my shoulder made me realise I had missed a dose of medication.

He had done what he’d said and brought me the water I asked for- even leaving a note under one of the bottles.

Loooong List Ahead!

I don’t know why, but there’s been a lot of negativity lately. So.. here’s an idea: I compiled a list of advice for people in the community  (NO its not cocky or any of that troll nonsense xD) it’s just some stuff I think would help better us?

1) If you don’t like someone, or you have THE BEEF, unfollow and block them. Don’t associate with them. Just ignore them. Don’t shittalk them or spread rumours about them. Just block and ignore. Alternatively, you could confront them and discuss THE BEEF in a mature, civilised manner. We aren’t animals. Also, if you just follow someone you dont like only to spy on them, shame on you. Stop. Get a life and stop being petty. You aren’t James Bond, and you’re spying on someone who fuckin plays with dolls like you do.

2) If you see someone you don’t like at a meet, again, ignore them. Or just get over and done with the pleasantries, and THEN ignore them. Don’t gossip or shittalk or anything like that. You’re meeting for your dolls, not for the desperate house wives gossip sesh.

3) If you’re a parent of kids who are too young to understand the fragility of dolls, Its advisable to hire a sitter or someone to look after them if you’ve got a doll meet. If you cant and you MUST bring them with, please ensure they’re well behaved or entertained. Not everyone likes kids, not everyone will like YOUR kids, and that’s okay. If someone asks if you can tell your child to not touch their dolls, please comply. “But her fingers are clean!” “But he’s very gentle~” yes, that may be true, but not everyone is comfortable with others- especially kids- touching their dolls. No matter how well behaved you perceive your own children to be, please respect the wishes of the other doll owners. Not your doll, not your decision.

4) If a parent has their kid at a meet and said kid wants to touch the doll, but you’re not down for it, just say no. But be polite. You dont have to be an asshole just because it’s a child. Children are worthy of your respect. If they keep nagging, give a firmer no, and if it persists, tell their parents. Parents of those kids, refer to (3). Not everyone likes kids, but its still good to be tolerant of them. You dont even be to humour them.

5) Some people like to shag their dolls. That’s..  okay.  To those who don’t like it, block those who do. To those who do like it, keep it sanitary. That’s just for your own health though. You dont need resin splinters in your hoo-ha.

6) Some people have… controversial dolls or contraversial themes in their stories. That’s okay.  Our dolls can be beautiful and romanticized, or they can be a reflection of our selves and the real world issues we face. But, if it bothers you, ask the owners to put trigger warnings.  Owners, if someone asks you to put a trigger warning, don’t be an asshole about it.

7) Buyers, please be patient. Like you, sellers have lives to live. Give them up to 3 days to respond before you send another message. Also, please be sure about if you actually want to buy something. It’s best to not waste their time  (which I’m guilty of. Sorry doll owner I messed around!).

8) sellers, please respond to buyers as soon as you can. You’ll come to an arrangement sooner, and make your sale quicker. Also, once you’ve received payment, please send out items as soon as you can. It’ll stop you from being blacklisted as a scammer or being a potential buyer - beware target.

9) This kinda goes without saying, but if you want to call someone out as a scammer, its best to gather all your info and evidence, then make a conviction. You dont wanna say soandso scammed you without any proof.

10) If you’re pro-artist, refer to  (1), especially if you don’t want to see that content. If someone does slip past, try educate them civilly. I know a lot of pro-artist get a bad rap for bullying, but if we are civil we might be able to educate each other. I know it’s hard, especially when some prorecasts don’t budge in their stance, but then there’s no changing it and you shouldn’t let it upset you. (I know. Easier said than done).

11) Pro-recasts. I know you guys like cheaper dolls, or they help get you through your anxiety, but please know that they are very harmful to artists. I know sometimes we can’t help it (I downloaded a cracked version of Life is Strange. Sorry square enix  <\3), but please do go back to support the artists, if even with just an outfit or something. (I’ve bought all my installements of Final Fantasy. None cracked!) Please be sure to tag them as recasts and don’t post in artist-only places. Also don’t hide the fact that you own a recast or pretend your recast is legit. It proves your guilty conscience and shows you know you did something wrong.

12) don’t be nasty to Noobs. If their faceup looks like a preschoolers crayon and macaroni art project, but they’re proud of it, do NOT get them down. We all started somewhere. No one is instantly perfect at faceups. No one ever will be. Art is like humans- constantly improving to a state of perfection, except we can’t reach it. There’s always room for improvement. If you must judge a faceup, please do so nicely with constructive criticism. “The brows are a little wonky. Is it a character quirk? If not, maybe redo the left for a more curious look, or the right for more relaxed.” Be more willing to help. If they don’t know how to improve, help them, or send them a link.

13) Noobs- if you don’t want criticisms, SAY SO. But you need to know your faceups aren’t perfect (see12). You cant expect everyone to love them immediately. Accept some criticism. Ask about what you can fix. And please do your research before you spam confession blogs with questions. That’ll just get you backlash. Also, not everyone will love your first faceup. So don’t open commissions after two tries at an SD.  if you’re confident in your work, only then should you take commisions.

I think that about covers it. If you wanna add stuff or disagree or whatever do it. Its just my opinion lmao. This kinda feels more like a ramble than a confession so here:

I love the smell of resin and the cracking sound of a new dolls’ joints. It’s like ASMR to me and so therapeutic.

How do you get to the point where you can take commissions for writing? Any helpful advice for a fellow fanfic writer? I write a lot and people seem to like it but I don't really know how that all works w/commissions and such. Thank you in advance and I love your writing!

Well, here’s the deal, I never thought I was good enough to open commissions until I did and people started commissioning me, haha. I actually saw a couple of people making fic commision guide posts and after I reblogged them I was like, wait... can I do this too?

So first things first: you’re already a writer (say it out loud! it gives a confidence boost, after all, writing is the only thing you need to do to be called a writer and yes, fic are included, this is a fact, no take backs). And people like your stuff! Awesome!

I actually used the posts I had reblogged as guidelines to write my own commission guide as they divided their prices for amount of money per 1.000 words (1k) and I used the same system. Since I am living in an abusive home and in much need of money, I set my price to$5 - 500 words / $10 - 1k-1.5K / $12 - 2k-2.5Kand I was even a little scared that people might not want to commission me, but to my very happy surprise, I’ve had like five commissions so far! (thank you guys!

Thas is my price table as I made it, but you can either use it or set one of your own for the price you want. It’s really complicated, to set a price on art, but just go with how you feel (how long does it take for you to finish, how tiring it is to get to that 1K, etc).

As to how to improve... Just read and write a lot really. There’s not much more to that than it. Reading other people’s work (books and fics) allows you to see different styles and improve your vocabulary, and writing allows you to see which style is more comfortable for you, and is good practice.

Never forget that, when it comes to art, you are always learning. There is not a highest point - there will be always more to be learned, so don’t feel demotivated for not knowing everything now - instead of aiming to know everything and being constantly upset because you don’t, accept that you’ll always be learning, and have fun in doing so.

Also, as an advice for writing in general, ditch the delete button. Write the crappy draft. Hate it. But dont delete it. Close it and reread it on the next day. Squint at it and see what is not “absolute garbage” (yeah I know how we look at our own work and say its garbage). Fix something here and there, but don’t delete like, entire paragraphs. Don’t delete it. Get off the computer and stretch your legs, drink some water, think about how your reader is not you and has zero idea that you are gonna write what you wrote. It only looks bad for you because you were the one to write and it’s predictable to you.

Come back to it and check it again. Is it good? Maybe it is (give yourself some goddamn credit!). Pat yourself on the back for the good job. Post it on your preferred fic site (AO3, FF.net) and put a link on Tumblr too so ppl can see it. Wait for comments, rinse and repeat.

Since you already have some nice fics, link them on a post like the one I made, so that people can see if they like your stuff. Add the price range and use the platform that suits your best - some people use Patreon, others use Ko-Fi, or direct paypal transfer (since my country doesn’t allow it, I use Ko-Fi).

Like art commissions, you can have half the arranged price sent to you before you start working and the rest as you deliver the commission, or have the full price paid at the moment of the arrangement. This is all I can think for now, anon, sorry if I failed to cover anything. Now go forth and good luck! :D

The Aftermath

The sun was rising over the horizon, purples and blues stuck out against a white background of sky just like the purple and blue bruises that exposed themselves along the white skin of the sea of dead clones, the color that stood out the most though was red. Usually red was a color of passion, but here it was a color of despair- the color of blood- the color that surrounded the four boys as they looked around their home. As if it could not be worse they were all filled with the deep stress of dread and despair, they had committed murder before but also before their actions had never held any consequence, the bodies and or evidence of their destruction always seem to disappear by the next morning.

Currently Tord, Tom, Edd, and Matt stood in the center of their living room with a shared expression of shock and a mutual feeling of panic.Matt spoke up first as he knelt down next to one of his own dead clones, he brushed his fingers along it’s jawline and then sighed. “So...beautiful to die so young.” He whispered which in turn earned him a harsh smack to the back of his head by Tom who seemed the most calm out of the four. “We need to get rid of these before they start to smell, what about the director guy? This is his fault right? He should have to deal with the bodies not us!” His voice began to raise at the end of his statement showing just how panicked he was.

Tord looked around for a few minutes before he finally decided to speak up, he seemed unsure of each word and movement he made, slowly taking steps toward their blood splattered front door. “I- am outta here, goodbye frie- oof” He was interrupted though, backing up into edd who had been suspiciously silent this entire time. “You aren't going anywhere Tord, you are going to help us.” His voice was off, something was wrong and he seemed deeply disturbed, locking the front door to keep Tord from leaving and then moving towards the opposite wall to stand near Tom.

Tord then moved away from Edd, tripping over a body and falling back toward matt who instead of catching him let him fall over the table. Tom laughed but it was short lived, who could even be genuinely happy at a time like this. Edd then picked up a clone, throwing it over his shoulder and then moving toward the back sliding door with little to no ‘pep in his step’. “Come on guys, grab a body and get to the back we have some digging to do.” His voice was still just so unsettling, how badly had this experience affected edd? His voice to just be precise was shaky and quiet, his eyes wandered and his face stayed blank. His movements were smooth and choppy at the same tie as if he were a robot that had been over oiled but the truth of the matter was is he was probably suffering from some kind of shock.

Eventually the other men in  the house one by one began picking up bodies and lugging them outside, it was tough, absolutely grueling work, but none dared disobey Edd no one was quite sure what he was capable of at this moment. Tord seemed the most hesitant surprisingly, he did not want to touch the bodies he so mercilessly and easily killed. Matt was trying not to think about the blood which was now coating his clothing and skin and Tom made it very known through his constant complaining that he did not enjoy this one bit. Each body that was moved outside was another grave they needed to dig in their backyard, how would they ever find the room to make such a graveyard?

After about four hours of absolutely horrid work all of the rotting bodies were finally pulled from the foul smelling house to the outdoors, where things looked as if they would get worse very soon. Dark rumblings of distant storm clouds pooled up in the distance ready to drop down on the boys at any waiting moment, the smell of rain wafted some of the rotting scent away which would aid in remaining undiscovered, but it also put them on a time limit. They needed to finish before the rain would hit them otherwise the bodies would become heavy and bloated, much too so to finish the job.

Matt leaned against their fence, his back to the wooden posts, he was exhausted and covered in blood that was now coagulating and drying, it was all pretty much a disaster for him. He couldn’t stand doing this ‘peasant’s work’ any longer, and so he went into the house to take a shower, though he was stopped by someone grabbing the back of his jacket with a white knuckled hand. “You are going to help us fix this, you helped us kill now help us hide the bodies!” It was Edd, tears in his eyes as he pulled Matt away from the door and locked it as well. It was then that the four got to work digging, the plan was to make their entire backyard a mass grave. Six feet deep, sixteen feet wide, thirty feet long. Their backyard was small but it would have to do. Where else would they do this? The front yard?

Once they had buried all of the bodies they were wet from the rain, tired from working, stressed from the trauma, and sick from all the blood. Once Edd unlocked the door all the boys rushed inside and instantly began fighting over who got to use the two showers in the house first. Consequently Tom and Matt won that argument and were the first to hit the showers, this left tord and edd alone to clean the downstairs mess. It all smelled so putridly though that it was hard for either of them to get much accomplished.

In the end, the bodies were hidden and since there were no records to indicate they existed in the first place they were never even searched for. Edd returned back to his normal, happy, cola drinking self and everything went back to how it usually was, no one dared talk about the massacre of the clones ever again.

What’s new?

First off, I’ve added pricing for fursonas and animals in general! I’ve always been open to drawing peoples fursonas, I just hadn’t made a pricing page specifically for it yet. I don’t have as much experience drawing animals, so I’ve made these prices lower than the others because I’d really like to practice with them! HERE YOU GO FAM!

Also, I’ve added a page for additional characters! The percentages are based off of what your commission price will be. Example: A cel shaded, full body commission price would be $40. An additional character would be 50% off of that price, making the additional character $20.

I’ve also added more drawing examples!

By accepting and paying the amount listed on this invoice, you agree to the terms and conditions listed below. The artist reserves the right to cancel a commission at any time for any reason. In some circumstances, the customer may be given a full or partial refund.

The artist reserves the right to post the final product on all social media pages; including, but not limited to, Tumblr, Instagram, Facebook, and Patreon. Until the payment is made in full and the artist has completed their work, all proofs sent to the recipient will be watermarked and low-resolution. Once the work is completed and the final payment has been received, the artist will remove the watermark and send a high-resolution file to the customer.

A non-refundable deposit of 30% of the total cost is required before beginning the commission. After the initial sketch is complete, no refunds will be given. The artist may choose to refund the deposit under special circumstances.

But I dont know if being “In touch” with your aspect was ever really a thing. I mean, when did John become “in touch” with his aspect?
