prologue

Deep night. A pale crescent sparkles in the starry sky. A warm summer wind blew fallen leaves and small debris across the ground. There was not a soul around, thanks to which I could contemplate the empty benches that were illuminated by the lanterns.

A tall man, dressed in a long, old-fashioned raincoat, walked alone in the park. On his head was a long, wide-brimmed hat that covered the upper part of his face.

“Not a day, but a sheer disappointment,” the man growled angrily, quickening his pace.

~ Does this happen? For the whole day I could not catch even one victim. It feels like all the females are extinct. One command at a time. ~ - the man continued mentally.

Realizing that today nothing shines for him, the man turned around and headed into a dense forest thicket, which was a few tens of meters from him.

Mostly, the forest consisted of conifers, and occasionally other types of trees could be found. For example an aspen.

Suddenly, the man was able to pick up an incomprehensible noise. Sounds were heard very close, literally a few steps away. Curiosity got the better of him, and the man slowly walked to the source of the noise.

What he saw on the spot plunged him into a slight shock:

A girl was lying on the ground, leaning against a tree. Her body was covered with deep wounds that were severely bleeding. She was dressed in an incomprehensible suit, torn in several places. The girl had long, pink horns on her head. In addition, the girl had sharp teeth.

~ Pretty good prey, it will be very offensive if such a rare specimen disappears ~ - flashed through the man's head.

Smiling broadly, the man tried to lift the girl's body, but the unexpected happened.

Something sharp, at high speed, pierced his palm, causing the man to hiss and withdraw his hand. A black, thick liquid began to drain from the resulting wound. However, despite the serious injury, the wound gradually began to heal.

~ Oh shit, this shit just used magic against me ~ - flashed through the man's head.

Suddenly, the girl's eyes began to fill with tears, after which she looked at the stranger.

- P-please, p-p-help me - Stuttering said the girl, gradually losing consciousness.

~ Seriously? Damn, this is funny. A creature of low origin asks me to save her. Although, why not? All the same, this specimen is quite rare, it would be nice to study it ~ - the man thought. The decision was made in seconds.

Taking her in my arms, I walked towards my brother's mansion. If only he was not at home, otherwise we will be in trouble.

Morning has come. The bright rays of the sun could not penetrate the room because of the dense purple curtains. The girl opens her tired eyes. Stretching, she raised herself slightly on her elbows, after which she decided to look around.

She was lying on a huge bed covered with a soft black blanket. The room in which the girl was lying was decorated in dark purple colors. At the edges of the bed were carved dark oak nightstands with floor lamps. Opposite the bed was a wide plasma TV with a turntable, next to which was a closet filled to the brim with old cassettes.

~ Am I alive ?! Where I am?! ~ - the first thing the girl thought about. The whole body ached, and the bandaged wounds itched violently. The girl looked under the covers and found that she was absolutely NAKED.

~ What? Why am I not wearing clothes ?! ~ The girl panicked. She was so busy examining the wounds that she did not notice her savior, who was lying next to her.

- Oh, you already woke up baby? - asked the man lying next to him. He put his hand under his head and looked at the frightened girl. With a soft squeak, the girl pulled the blanket over herself to cover herself. Pulling off the covers, she saw that the stranger was also naked. In embarrassment, the girl closed her eyes and covered her face with her hands.

- Sorry, sorry, I didn't want to! the girl said loudly, blushing. The stranger laughed, then said:

- Who are you with us? And do not shout so loudly, otherwise we will have problems.

- Sorry, I honestly don't remember how I got here. Why am I without clothes, and so are you? Everything is so confusing. After all .. After all, there was nothing between us? - rattled the girl, blushing more and more.

“I am your wonderful savior, and now you have to repay me with something,” the stranger said in a satisfied voice, imagining how well this morning could start.

- What? I'm not on ... - the girl did not have time to finish, as a tall man dressed in silk pajamas burst into the room. On his "face" glasses were visible. The girl huddled in the corner of the room with a blanket and only now noticed that both were missing any facial features.

- Offender, how many times have I told you not to bring your girlfriends here! You deprive me of healthy sleep and nerves! And if I have bruises under my eyes ?! the man shouted eccentrically, waving his arms.

- If you don't leave the room right now, bruises under the "eyes" will appear very soon - My husband said, ina with a note of irritation - And it was not I who yelled, but she - Offender pointed his finger at the girl, which made her huddled in the corner even more.

- I saved this cutie yesterday as a hero, by the way - Boasting he said. - Now get out, she must repay me.

- Did you save her? Really? You are not even able to save yourself. You usually think of only one thing.

After these words, Trender approached the girl, which made her pressed against the wall.

- Horns? Fangs? So are you a demon? - asked the mod.

- No! I am human. I'm sure of that. They did something to me. - Answered the girl - Maybe I will be of some use to you?

- Well, what can you do? - Offender asked with a malicious smile.

- I can be useful as a maid, or a servant. - The girl answered.

- And the idea is not bad, in this house except me no one cleaned for a long time. But the decision must be made only when everyone is awake.

The Slenderman lay in his bed, enjoying a restful sleep. Hearing a loud cry, he realized that Offender had brought another "girlfriend". Getting out of bed, he went to the wardrobe, where he put on his funeral suit, and then went out into the corridor.

Meanwhile, screams and curses came from Offender's room.

~ How I hate it ~ - the Faceless mentally boiled and entered the room. In the room, he found several bloody spots, pieces of torn cloth, and a naked Offender trying to take the girl in a blanket away from Trender. Seeing her brother, they let the girl go, and she, in turn, fell to the floor.

- What did I say about your victims in this house? - said the man in a serious voice, approaching the girl. The girl herself began to back away. Slender was about to rip her head off with his clawed hand. However, something held back his hand, preventing him from striking.

- Vile demon - the Faceless said with disgust. This was followed by a strong blow with a vector, from which the girl flew into the wall.

- I'm not a demon! No! I cannot be a demon - she grumbled, gradually rising from the floor.

- What about your horns? And the fangs? And what was holding my hand back? I don't think that other creatures can do that - the monster said with a laugh. Offender pulled on his cloak and stood between the girl and the monster.

“Hey brother, this is my sweetheart, so I’m taking care of her. Better get out of here, otherwise you will get in full.

- If you want to get serious wounds, then I will help - Faceless answered aggressively, throwing his jacket on the floor.

As you might expect, a fight broke out between the brothers. While they were fighting, Trender took the girl in his arms and carried her to his room.

While the girl was waiting behind the screen, Trender sewed suitable clothes for her. He sewed the girl an unusual blue dress with a corset. He gave the dress to the girl, after which she got dressed and left. Appreciating his impeccable work, he approached the girl and began to tighten the corset.

“So, you’ll clean the whole house, cook for us, and clean up Offender’s garden. - At that moment, the brothers burst into the room with beatings and small smudges of black liquid resembling blood

- We made a decision: I will give you a probationary period a week. If you can do it, you will live, and if not, then I will kill you. Personally. Now go and make breakfast for four. And cook more - said the Faceless.

- Yes sir - answered the girl. She was heading towards the exit of the room when she was suddenly stopped by Offender.

- Baby, so what should we call you? - he asked.

- My name is 4.13.1.5.6.19.19, but you can call me Gladess.

☆—State of the National Park

Since we last spoke with you all with a group announcement, I am sure it has become very obvious that the group is no longer active in terms of roleplay. As we are no longer enforcing Activity Checks, everyone has generally gone inactive. This we prepared for-- and honestly, had seen coming. A while back when we made that initial announcement, myself and the other mods agreed that the group was not going to survive as an RP group much longer for reasons stated in the post.

The Pokemon RPC just isn’t big anymore, and the audience for a Pokemon roleplay group is even smaller. It is no mistake that a majority of the members we have kept over the past year have been members who have been with us for years at this point. It was always love for our group that kept it going, but now is the time to acknowledge what’s been going on as of late.

National Park, effective today, will be closing its doors as a roleplay group. Anyone who has blogs with us and wishes to continue roleplaying their muses is free to remove the affiliation and continue their roleplaying as they please. It’s a sad thing to see the National Park finally close four and a half years into its run, but it seems like the best course of action for us now. Manectric, Musharna, and I are very busy people, and the rigors of running a roleplay group is becoming all the more difficult, even in the Park’s current state.

However, we all agreed that we wouldn’t want to be rid of the community entirely. To me and many others, National Park has become a very special community to us and it would be hard to completely say goodbye to the connections we made. With the end of the roleplay group arriving, we have decided to keep the NatPark Discord chat open indefinitely!

The group is semi-private, mainly intended for ex-members, but any individuals who are interested in joining us there are more than welcome to ask. We’re not picky-- it’s just a matter of keeping the group well-maintained that we aren’t actively advertising the new chat.

If you have been with our group and have been in the chat before, it’s more or less the same old place for chatting with your fellow NatPark members, except with the inclusion of casual roleplay elements to make up for the lack of proper dash roleplay, including multifandom RP as well. There’s no Masterlist, no reserving characters, just plot with someone and jump right in to some roleplay if you’re feeling an itch to write! We want the community to remain a casual place to hang out.

It’s our way to give back to you guys, the members of NatPark, old and new. It doesn’t matter how long ago it was-- if you want to come back, please contact us! Always feel free to contact me through my Discord as listed above, where I am almost always active all day.

I sincerely thank every single person who has been a part of the National Park in the past for making it what it was. This was an incredibly special place to me, and it means so much that I was able to meet such an amazing group of people. I hope to meet even more of you through our chat! Hey lovelies! It’s been such a long time since I’ve written for the hub, and I am so sorry that I’ve fallen out of touch with you all. Ever since I moved, things have become increasingly busy for me. With work and starting school again, I just didn’t have enough time for roleplay. But I never lost time for caring about each of you.

Every single one of you lovely people have been, and will always continue to be, my friends. The Park has been my pride a joy, a place I never expected to become as great as it was in its prime, back when the community was larger. We’ve seen our ups and downs, good days and bad days, welcomed and lost so many great people. And yet our friends always came back. Weeks, months, even a year... we welcomed them all. It’s so good to see you again! And it was like we hadn’t lost any time at all.

Time does change things. But because the Park no longer does RP doesn’t mean that there isn’t something better for our community in the horizon. Because we’re now a Pokemon Community, and I wholeheartedly think we should invite those who loved Pokemon but weren’t interested in RP to join.

Thank you all so much for being part of this experience. Without everyone’s support, we wouldn’t be where we are. Everyone who has been with us, past and present, was a special part of who we are. We’re not losing RP so much as we are gaining friends. That’s what the spirit of the Park was always about: making friends and having a connection.

I love you all. And I am thankful that I get to spend my time with you. See you soon.

So I’m just gonna get right to the point. I love playing Skyrim, I love playing as my OCs in Skyrim. I especially love modding the living heck out of this game while playing as my OCs and pretty much living vicariously through them.

However, as much as I love this game IT IS SEVERELY LACKING IN LGBTQ+ CONTENT AND THE OPTION TO MARRY SOME CHARACTERS OF THE SAME GENDER AND ONE INSTANCE OF AN MLM COUPLE THROUGH A LETTER BECAUSE THEY’RE BOTH DEAD AF IN THE DRAGONBORN DLC IS NOT ENOUGH FOR MY QUEER ASS!

So what to do? Mods! It’s 2020 and a lot more people are openly accepting and open-minded, right? So finding LGBTQ+ mods should be a lot easier, right? Eh.........no. I’ve spent several days trying to find mods to make my Skyrim playthrough as queer as I possibly can make it, specifically for my High Elf OC who is trans (FtM), very effeminate, has a none muscular body and build and very gay. I think now, after several days of research, tutorials, testing and an endless amount of headaches I think I have the mods to make my play through true to how I imagine and have written this character as.

Bare with me for a few seconds, I promise I’ll get to the point and this is worth reading. I’m trying to get as much information in this as possible.

Disclaimer:

This mod list is only for the PC version of the game. Look, I’m super, super sorry but basically over 95% of all these mods are exclusively found online and even if they ARE on beth.net they aren’t used at full capacity from what I understand. Believe me, as a mainly console player, it breaks my heart that I can’t include the consoles for this list.

I won’t be linking to just Nexus. I’ve found a bunch of mods outside of the Nexus that are reliable.

I’ll only be working with the Special Edition version of the game. It’s the one I have and am playing on.

I will NOT be covering female body replacers. At freakin’ all. There are literal dozens of mods covering this. There will only be ONE and it is for very specific reasons only.

In my little venture into finding these mods I came across a lot of homophobic, transphobic and downright disgusting comments within the Nexus. I also found out a lot of queer mod authors were driven out of the Nexus because of said homophobic people. This is what happened to Vector and also why SavrenX refuses to upload anything other than weapon, item retextures to the Nexus. Nexus users and community overall is very homophobic and toxic so I’m very sorry if you see or read something upsetting. I advice you avoid the comments (known as posts on Nexus) tab as to avoid seeing some vile shit. Ignore them and don’t engage them ffs, they just want a reaction out of you. There’s no correcting these assholes much less educating them. They ain’t worth your time. Just report and move on.

The majority of the mods linked in this post have been tried by me, if I haven’t tried them out I’ll say so. Again, I’m learning as I go along and believe me this hasn’t been an easy task to find all of these working mods.

No, I won’t be searching or uploading any ports, texture, mesh or mod edits I myself have done. I ain’t confident in how well I may have or not have edited the mods and more importantly that’s as bad as uploading art that wasn’t done by you. Sadly, you’ll have to do these changes yourself. I’ll try my best to link tutorials. Also don’t go and harass the authors for a port or an update ffs.

I’ll most likely be editing this list as I learn more.

Yes, I will leave links from adult sites. A lot of these sites pretty much force you to sign up in order for you to download their content. It’s fine, just make some random account and you’ll instantly gain access to the mods. Just know there’ll be nsfw images, gifs and videos everywhere in these sites.

While I will be referring to male characters a lot of these if not all can also cater to non-binary characters too!

No, I will not be covering sex mods. I have no intention of adding them to any of my load orders and I really don’t care to. You’re on your own for that category. Try Lover’s Lab.

*Body Mods/Replacers/Races:

Schlongs of Skyrim (aka SOS). Not the only choice out there but the most current and fully working one. Pretty much mandatory for a bunch of mods so might as well have it, ya know?

Tempered Skins for Males. Was known as Better Males; pairs up beautifully with SOS. Super amazing work if you ask me.

Shape Atlas for Men (aka SAM). This is literally the god king of all male body replacers. Want a twunk? This mod will do it. Want a regular Joe? This can do it. Want a bear of a man running around in Skyrim? Yeah, girl, this can do it. Ever since I discovered it I have been obsessed with it! HOWEVER, the full working mod is only available for Old Skyrim, maybe for Legendary Edition but I’m not sure. Vector said he had plans to port the full working mod to Special Edition but confessed he was having issues with the scripts. Also afaik Vector’s last updates on working on the mod were back in late 2016 so I think it’s safe to say this beautiful mod will never be seen running on SSE. Sadly Vector just up and left the modding scene somewhere in 2018. It none of our business but from what I read he faced a lot of homophobic harassment from people not liking his body mod or giving him shit because he didn’t want to make a female body mod. He even faced harassment from our very own community.

Not all’s lost though. Some of the amazing modders in Vector’s site have made a working version for SSE.

SAM Light, SAM Morphs for RaceMenu, SAM SE Vanilla Armor Refit, SAM High Poly Conversion, SAM Light Texture Add-on, High Poly Head

The Ultra Femme. Title should be super self-explanatory. Super good if your character is really femme or non-binary or trans. I haven’t tried out this body myself and I’m not entirely sure whether this is compatible with SE or not. RefurbMadness has a lot of mods hosted in her site and still has some in Nexus that are being hosted by the site’s Care Taker. I’m actually gonna link a few later. I honestly suggest going through her site and reading up everything. She’s pretty clear when it comes to instructions, the only problem is she’s not exactly clear on whether her mods are compatible with SE or not. Maybe it’s written somewhere in there, I’m still new to modding and need very clear descriptions (you kinda gotta talk to me like I’m 5 when it comes to mods). I need to check more of her content and test a bunch of things. She also has armor and clothing mods.

Milkdrinker Male Texture and Slim Male Body for SoS (<3<3<3). Both by the same mod author. Sadly only available for Old Skyrim but the only reason why I linked it is because both mods are super easy to convert to use for SSE. Sweetie, if I managed to do it, you can do it too. Watch this, or this or this or try to Google it and see what comes up. Personally I tried the Slim Male Body and it was pretty good. Unfortunately you’d have to refit all the armors to fit either body yourself.

Transgender Race and NPCS SSE. Like I said before I wasn’t going to link or talk about any female body replacers except for one. This one! Look, there are a few out there but they’re extremely transmisogynistic and fetishistic and use a lot of outdated and transphobic language plus they’re mostly sex mods so I will abso-freaking-lutely NOT be linking them. Anyway, the people behind this port are back to working on this mod and have plans for adding transgender men. As of now the mod only has transgender women. They can’t add more genders due to the engine limitations and FYI they used “race” in the title because this isn’t a body mod, it’s actually a race. This is one of the few mods that won’t play well with SoS.

There IS one more body or better said, race, I tried but I really didn’t like it. Mod worked as it was advertised but--well, whatever, it’s for personal reasons that I didn’t like it and it depended way too much on a lot of more mods and it bloated up my LO something fierce so for that reason I ain’t gonna link it. Mod’s called Femboy if you wanna give it a try yourself.

*Extras (edits, armors, clothes and more):

Enhanced Character Edit SE. Tl;dr this is like RaceMenu but on steroids. It offers way more sliders and because of this it has fantastic potential to mold your character’s body to your personal liking. I used this instead of RM for my High Elf I mentioned earlier. He has a more “delicate” frame and is much thinner than my other OCs and this mod did exactly what I’ve been trying to achieve for a very long time now. Works like a charm.

SSE Luscious Locks for All - Unisex KS Hair. Makes it so that male characters can use all the hair options that comes with KS Hairdos SSE. Guys with long hair! Yummy! <3

Oooooooorrrrrrr you can just install ApachiiSkyHair SSE which has a bunch of long hair options for men to look fabulously yummy! This is the one I’m using.

Femfeet Redesigned SSE Port For Everyone. Look, it’s a foot texture mod, that’s it. Works with Better Males aka Tempered Skins and SoS, so yes, your guys will have pretty feet. Load this AFTER you body mod of choice.

Apachii Divine Elegance Store. This store has so much to offer. Really beautiful clothes and armors, exceptional jewelry, wonderful accessories aaaaaand your male character can also use the nails that are offered by the mod. So if you want your male character to have some stunning and colorful manicures done this mod offers it. They also offer actual claws that also comes in different colors so you can have both styles. Look, imo this is a must for femme male and enby characters. Your guys are going to look beautiful!

Immersive Jewelry - Earring for Male Characters. This enables Immersive Jewelry earrings to be wearable and visible on male characters.

Light Elven Armor for Men, Light Glass Armor for Men, Light Daedric Armor for Men. Tired of women being the only ones to get skimpy outfits? Ja, me too! Here’s some of the armor mods RefurbMadness ported to SSE before she left Nexus. There’s more available for Old Skyrim but you’ll need to convert them over to SSE yourself.

Slof’s Lair. Slof has a collection of skimpy armors, some accessories and even modern clothes (if that’s your thing). They have a link to their Nexus profile on their page but instead of adding all the links I just figured to leave the link to their site so you can check everything they have to offer. I haven’t tried any of Slof’s mods myself though I’m super interested in the Just For Men collection of mods and the Goth Shop (chill, it’s mostly Tera armors without the need to download that massive Tera mod).

Tera Armors Collection - Special Edition. And here’s that massive mod I previously mentioned but it’s actually a really good one. I’ve tested this out on both pc and Xbox One and it looks gorgeous on both!

The Well Dressed Mage. Not exactly skimpy but kind of revealing. Idk, these look lovely af and I wanna try them on my Altmer. Maybe someone else will want to try these too.

Modular Bandoliers and Pauldrons for Males. Pretty simple and to the point. Haven’t tried it since it wouldn’t go with my elf’s more refined bitchy tastes.

Bad Dog’s Skimpy Clothes SE. Some skimpy outfits for guys that were converted over to SE apparently not too long ago.

Bodyslide and Outfit Studio. So none of the stuff listed above is to your liking. That’s where this comes in. Thing is you actually CAN convert female armors and clothes for male use. So download the armors and clothes you wanna use and throw them and the body meshes you use into Outfit Studio. I myself am still learning how to go about doing this and the tutorials out there are kinda hard to come by. Try this video. I followed it and managed to convert a female outfit to fit on a male body I was using. Still need a lot of practice though but am working on it.

As far as makeup goes you can edit the colors of your character’s eyeshadow, eyeliner, cheeks and lips but with ECE or RaceMenu you can edit the colors further. May need to do some extra hard tweaking some choices though, not gonna lie. If I find a much better option I’ll post it.

I’m currently trying to find how the heck to get male characters to wear heels or if there’s a mod that has it. Like, that’s the last thing I need to make clothes complete. I’ll get back to this when I find it.

*Animations:

FNIS PCEA2 - Player Exclusive Animations (Dynamic) SE. So you got your character, you’ve dressed them and done up their hair and all that and to this point it’s all come together perfectly...until your femme male/enby character or your butch female/enby character starts walking and standing idly by and the poses and animations are completely and utterly wrong. Why is he walking like an angry gorilla? Why is she walking like a Victoria’s Secret model down the walkway? Can you switch their animations?

YES!!!

PCEA2--and yes, you will need FNIS to get this working--allows you to make animation changes to only your character. You can even add and/or remove which animation packs you want your character to use! I’ve just barely begun testing this mod as well as adding some specific packs for my Altmer and the pretty female idles works like a charm for him. I downloaded FNIS Sexy Move SE to try this out on him and see if it works but according to Fore it should work as long as you installed everything correctly and ticked the appropriate box to activate the animation pack you want. I’m not entirely sure if you can customize the choices given by each animation pack, probably something as simple as deleting the animations you don’t want and leaving the one you do want. I’ll have to test this further.

*Gameplay and Voices:

Simply Gay Letters. Simple and sweet little mod that adds some letters in certain places all over Skyrim tying certain NPCs to other NPCs. The hinted at couples are all the mod author’s headcanons so if that bothers you I suggest moving on.

Queering Skyrim - Blueflower Necklace. Basically it stops female NPCs from showing interest in your male character when wearing an amulet of Mara. Queering Skyrim - Lavender Menace Necklace does the exact same thing but for female characters.

Same Sex Perks - A Lover’s Insight - Agent of Dibella - Allure. Y’all remember Confirmed Bachelor from New Vegas? Remember how no Beth game has put it in their games again but are totally adding some lazy attempts to include us LGBTQ+ folks? The author has a pretty clear and easy to understand description of the mod in the page. There’s also Gay Insight - A Lover’s Insight Tweak which does the same as the other one but much simpler. I guess it’s up to you and your tastes when it comes to which one to use. I myself am using Same Sex Perks since it adds other perks.

Player Voicesets for SSE - Custom Voice Version. I downloaded this but I haven’t installed it yet. If I understood correctly this lets you change your character’s voice to any of the in game voices. My advice? Go into the page and read everything.

PC Head Tracking and Voice Type SE. The reason I haven’t installed the previous mod is because I have THIS one installed because of the head tracking but it also comes with an added voice feature so this might clash with the other one. I still need to test whether they do the same thing or not.

Skyrim - Player Re-Voiced Series. CaseyTheVA was kind enough to make a bunch of voices for your character. Just your character. I’ve tested these on Xbox and they are legit really freakin’ good! They seem to have added a lot more since the last time I checked. Unfortunately these are only available on beth.net or for Old Skyrim on the Nexus. You could just download them from the game’s mod page and remove the files and upload them back into the game using whatever mod manager you use. I did this with Cheat Room. Or you can port them yourself from Nexus. Honestly the quality alone is worth all the trouble.

How do you set up a week like this? I mean, the part where you actually manage to get people involved with it?

That’s an interesting question! I assume you mean getting people to participate when the event actually runs?

The main things you need, regardless of how many followers you have: posts that advertise and explain your event, and tagging those posts appropriately!

Some bonus things: something eye-catching about those posts (fanart/sprites and banners for the event), probably multiple posts about the event to keep people thinking about it, and getting help from friends or outside sources willing to plug in and promo your event! Your own followers may help, so never disregard your own blog!

The success of the event depends on: The subject of the event (How popular is the ship/character/series?) and how much effort you put in (Does it look like you actually care about the event? Does it look like you will respect the participants and their fanworks? Do you seem reliable enough to handle the event? Are you approachable? How do you handle criticism and hecklers? Did you organize it well?)

If you want details, I can only give you my own experience with events. (It’s under the cut because, well, I can’t be concise...)

I’ve only ever run one ship week before, and that was completely on my own at the time. I say “on my own,” but I actually did have support, namely my friends and mutual followers on my main account, spreading the word whether they were actually interested in participating in the event, or not! I am very thankful to them for putting up with it XD

There’s also tagging posts appropriately by the characters/ships involved in the event (in this case, Hajime and Izuru). And I really have to hope that the post shows up in the tags. I keep making sure after the post is created that the post shows up where it is supposed to (in other words, don’t put external links in your posts whatsoever! Not even links to polls). Also, you want to make sure to post it at a time you know people are active. To me, it seemed like around 10AM or 3PM PST will work.

People like me actually do surf Tumblr through the tags, so when they are interested in the event (as I’m sure they must be at least somewhat if they are surfing through the main character tags), they would hopefully reblog the post and their followers may be interested and reblog from them, and the cycle will hopefully continue. Reblogs are so important. Likes... don’t tell me much except that you are interested? And that’s a maybe as well.

A lot of it has to do with whether people are interested in what the event is about. Hajime/Izuru is a rather popular character who people love, so not to sound like as if I’m bragging or anything, but I do expect this event to gain traction based on that.

However, even less liked character/pairings can get some traction! I know for my ship week, I put a lot of effort into making sure people knew about the event. I actually went over what is expected, lol. I made polls to get as may people involved as possible and check how many would be interested in participating. I made quite a lot of pixel art leading up to the event, as well, and with each post, it’s another chance someone new will see it and be interested in the event.

And Kamu//Koma Week, for example, would occasionally get fanart made by their friends (mostly pixel art) and answer asks and tag these in the main tags (their ship tag mostly, and the character tags too maybe). They also had some polls made to get people involved- I mean it is both more advertising and it helps get people engaged and hyped about the event.

Both me and that mod relied on the tag system and our own followers. If you do own a blog that has a lot of followers, definitely use it! And if not,it’s very much possible to get attention. Like for me, I don’t have an insane amount of followers, and I have seen people who don’t have many followers have very successful events. Still, whatever followers you have, make sure to reblog your posts on your own blog!

Another thing you can do is respectfully ask for people who do have a lot of followers (like ask blogs, for example) to help you make your event known. If they don’t get to your ask, don’t be pushy with it, please ^^;

For this event, I could rely a lot on the tag system, my mutuals were helping spread the word, and I was able to get @/ask-hinapape to help! (Let’s say we had connections XD) I’ve seen people ask ask blogs and confession blogs for promos before, as well!

Mod Kusamochi, Mod Ahoge, and I each made something to promote the event! I drew the icon, Mod Kusamochi made the header (Also was put on our submission guidelines post) and Mod Ahoge made the “Uncle Hinata” poster on our Mods Intro post! To attract people to your event, having an attractive post is going to help you. Make sure it is something that centers on what your event is about, of course, but also try to make it pretty! Using a lot of colors might help, or maybe it is a moving gif.

It is not that fanart is necessary, either! You can use sprites or official art and just edit it. I mean, for the ship week I ran, I took already-made transparents or transparented stuff on my own and added a background that was actually just the background of other official art, but zoomed in or replicated into a pattern. You can also ask friends to help you out if you’re not that great with making fanart/sprite edits! And if you claim to have no friends, you can always request/commission someone else to help!

Having organization in an event is going to help as well! Make sure you give people time to think about the event you’re planning so that they can organize themselves. A week is very short notice, a month is better, but might not be ideal enough for people to time themselves. When the event occurs is also going to affect how many people can participate. Make sure when you plan it, people have the time to submit something.

You want to have some rules, as well. First, you have to figure out just how is it that people are submitting their entries. For example, most events have you use specific tags. As a mod, you go to those tags and reblog them to the event’s blog. You can also have people submit their entries to the blog, and you tag or mention who created the submission.

It’s also great to have backups! Make yourself available and approachable in case something goes wrong. Do they need more time? Did you miss their entry? Did they accidentally break a rule?

If you need help creating rules, then try looking up other ship weeks for guidance on how they had set up their guidelines!

You also do not want too many restrictions, especially not something controversial, like “none of these ships are allowed”, or “none of that character”, or “these headcanons are not allowed”. Give people more freedom, and you’ll find you run into less problems. It may even be that no one was planning to draw/write something about the things you restricted them on, but because you restricted it, now they demand you let them. Or, if you had perceived there would be a problem, it might just be that there never would have been one to begin with. Don’t create drama, you’re only going to hurt the event and yourself.

And on the rare occasion, you may come across hecklers. The first time, you might respond. Try to not confront them even if they are rude- remain calm. It may just be that what you think is an insult to the event is just curiosity worded a bit strongly. They don’t like the ship? Explain that all participants are going to use a specific tag or tags they can block, or that they will all be tagged with the ship name, so they may as well block that. Same goes to specific characters. They don’t like how you run the event? Ask them what they wanted changed, or tell them that if they want to create their own event, they can. If they or others keep filling up your inbox- ignore it. It hurts, but don’t give in to the bait. There’s an event you are running with people that actually care for the subject- you focus on that. Don’t bring all the negativity hecklers want to pollute the event with. They want people to feel bad about participating in the event. You stay strong, and the participants will too.

Be open, be willing to make changes, be willing to stand up for yourself when needed, and most importantly, show that you actually care. Make sure that it is known that you find the event important enough to have created it and will treat it with the care and effort necessary.

You can feel the difference between someone that gave their event a lot of thought, and someone that didn’t plan ahead as much as they could have. And I’m not pointing fingers at any particular event- I’ve seen a few events that were not planned that well. But for the most part, I’ve seen a lot of mods who created events they genuinely cared for.

To me, a successful event is not measured how many people participated. A successful event is one where those that participated and the mod(s) feel genuine pride at what has been created for the event. If the goal was to expand a ship, then even one fanwork is more than what it had once been. If the goal is to show more appreciation for something, then even if only a few people actually participated, you now know who it is that shared your love for the subject. For me, I found that the most valuable knowledge- knowing you are not alone in your love for that subject.

All-in-all, if you want to create an event, whether it is a ship week, a secret exchange, or an appreciation week for a character/series/etc, just make sure that you and the participants are able to have fun and that you are able to be heard by the people who’d like to participate.

Low self esteem because of one’s weight is very common. Thin people have built a world that sends barrages of fatphobic jokes, advertisements, models, weight loss products (none work, don’t even try), and contradictory diet plans (again none work) at fat people.

The thing about body issues (of any kind) is that no matter how much you hate yourself for a given trait, you don’t hate it on other people. You might even love it on anyone other than yourself. It’s not logical, but that’s how internalized fatphobia works.

No, she probably doesn’t want to have your body. That’s okay! Clearly what she wants is to -love- your body. These issues distort your judgement. You may see things in the mirror that aren’t really there. You may distrust people you would trust with your life. Why would she lie about this? Faking attraction is hard. She has these issues as well, and she will understand. I could almost guarantee that she compares her body to someone else’s.

She loves you, I promise. Suppose she were bigger than you and felt like this. What would you tell her? Would you get angry that she doesn’t believe you when you tell her that you like her? I think you would understand and do your best to help her.

You might find @fatphobiabusters or @bigfatscience helpful for working through things.

A disclaimer: I have personally not gotten over this problem nor have I received treatment for my eating disorder.

The Search for Silence

Wind swept boughs for man to hang themselves upon. In umber spires did the tormenting emeralds rest, dancing, waving, a rippling sea of synchronized children laughing as rustling claps into the windy air. From these hidden perches the humid heat watched, it’s plentiful eyes never blinking, ever moving, and all seeing. It was here that all sound was ushered forth into an absolute silence. It was here that called him, again and again.

Nortrom awoke, thoughts of tranquil mystery slipping from his mental grasp as he did so, only to be replaced by the drab reality of his own bedroom. Where there was an ever present humidity, now rest his sheets. What was once the crunching of brush under-foot now became the subtle sound of a pillow crushed under-ear. He yawned.

This wasn’t anything new. Since his youth the Silencer knew only absolute fixation of those forests, the Vale of Augury. He would get lost in books, stories, artifacts: anything he could get his hands on about the place. Nortrom never knew why he was drawn there, but deep down in the recesses of his mind was the lingering feeling of familiarity, a beckoning whisper that tickled his ears.

It was getting louder.

In an attempt to advance Nort’s plot a bit and also bring some life to my dashboard, I am proposing a small RPG like exploration campaign though tumblr RP!

This “thread” of sorts will be both an experiment and a starting point for a larger series of things I am doing, with or without others, but for this one I feel that it’s time we went on a adventure, full of combat, dungeons, monsters, and mystery.

How will it play out? How does it all work? Quite simply honestly, and very free form. I will be running one account (this one, during Nort’s replies) as a Narrator of sorts, but the plot still goes by in a normal Tumblr RP way, with each person doing as they wish and directing their character’s actions. The Narrator is only there to push the story forwards and help direct things, to keep the action moving and see to it that we don’t lose sight of our goals. Most of the “action” is all done in RP format, where those involved are free to attack, be hurt, and interact as they wish. Almost none of this will be scripted ahead of time.

SO! WHAT DO I NEED?

I need 2-3 others to run this gauntlet of adventure with Nortrom! And here’s the fun part: They don’t even have to be Dota2 RP related. Anything that might fit in the world can be a potential, (nothing really out of the setting, sorry Sci-fi!) as long as you have a will to explore and quest I can make it work.

So, to apply for this, you have to make 100% sure you can follow a few rules:

1) You have an established RP blog (as in, not just made for this) and a decent grasp on your character.

2) No God modding, unless pre-planned or agreed to by others in the thread.

3) You can commit to get a reply chain done ONCE A WEEK. That means everyone has made rotation in that time, giving you about one post every 3 days. That’s it! If we don’t hit a week but still get that “one reply every 3 days” thing, I’ll be more than happy. This is a 100% required commitment, and I WILL kill off characters in this adventure that can’t do this, unless an emergency comes up IRL. I mean, If you end up hospitalized I’m not gonna be a jerk about it.

4) Let me shorten that: You must reply within 3 days of it becoming your turn. The only exceptions are extreme cases IRL. “losing your muse” or “not feeling like it” are not excuses and will cost you your spot.

5) Some acumen when it comes to english please. I’m a shit writer with bad grammar, so I’m not expecting amazing features here. I just want it at a readable / acceptable level, with some ok flow.

She was unlucky yes, catching fire not even once but yes twice, but at least she survived (I think I would have restarted my game if she did not, I had saved while they were talking on the couch).

A lot of creator actually forget to do the low mesh. I had that for an ear microphone when I was working on my story, so if you took a picture from further away it would disappear, can’t remember what was there instead, probably a ring.

Dickheads of the Month: February 2020

As it seems that there are people who say or do things that are remarkably dickheaded yet somehow people try to make excuses for them or pretend it never happened, here is a collection of some of the dickheaded actions we saw in the month of February 2020 to make sure that they are never forgotten.

The issue with the Tory government being stuffed with morons and sociopaths is that it leads to solutions such as their new immigration policy which equates anyone earning less than £24k a year with being an “unskilled worker” so therefore not eligible for a visa...when in reality that is unreasonably raising the bar, which becomes immediately obvious when you realise that the majority of entry-level positions within the NHS are paid less than that per annum. But fret not, they also have a solution in the sudden gap of 8m in the workforce, namely having the “economically inactive” fill the gap...even though that figure is primarily made up by the elderly, the terminally ill, and students who are currently working on that “low skilled” issue whose post-graduation salaries are estimated at around £18k a year

Unelected bureaucrat/organ grinder Dominic Cummings had a genius idea for proven liar Boris Johnson’s first cabinet reshuffle: eliminate anyone who might possibly have any semblance of an idea of their own (plus Esther McVey) and install a bunch of unthinking drones into the cabinet who will all follow his specific instructions...which sounds a lot like communism, doesn’t it?

We should almost thank Andrew Sabitsky for proving exactly what Dominic Cummings’ directive of “misfits and weirdos” really meant, namely that what Cummings wanted was somebody whose track record includes saying that black people are intellectually and genetically inferior on multiple occasions, calling for forced contraception for the lower classes and attending eugenics conferences, and that’s somebody who fits the profile of being appointed special advisor to the Prime Minister

In the latest example of The Department of Work and Pensions appearing to exist for the sole purpose of committing an ideological genocide on the lower classes, it emerged that they had been destroying reports of former claimants who committed suicide after their benefits were stopped - and had been doing so since at least 2015

Has anyone noticed that proven liar Boris Johnson didn't show up in Yorkshire with a mop and bucket when it was flooded again? Or did anyone notice that, when the official line was given that he didn't want to cause a media frenzy by showing up and instead wanted to put his feet up at a lakeside mansion to do...whatever it was that he was doing, it appears to have forgotten that he didn't mind showing up in flood-hit areas with the resulting media frenzy when there was an election campaign going on?

The estate of George Orwell will want a word with Lee Cain following his role in proven liar Boris Johnson’s “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others” moment where he divided journalists into two groups before a Downing Street briefing, before telling journalists from one of the groups - who were from the Mirror, Independent, Huffington Post and PoliticsHome, that they should leave as they are not welcome

In the latest example of Question Time being an echo chamber for the far-right, they bussed in two-time National Front candidate Sherri Bothwell to sit front and centre of the audience and be the person to ask the first question of the show...if going off on a rant about how we should close our borders constitutes a “question” - although it does constitute a blatant violation of editorial guidelines

Smirking cretin Priti Patel demonstrated her statesmanlike credentials when facing a question about forced deportations in the House of Commons...by getting the hell out of the chamber before she could even hear the full question, presumably because staying in the chamber would potentially involve having to face scrutiny or criticism and that’s not how the Tories work

It’s no surprise that the FBPE mob responded to the first anniversary of the formation of The Independent Hashtag Group for Hashtag Change UK Hashtag Ltd by hand-wringing about how a potential force for good in British politics failed, because if they didn’t they might have to accept that their blindly believing in one “centrist” neoliberal careerist after another, from Chuka Umunna to Jo Swinson to Jess Phillips and numerous other examples aside, played a large part in why man of the people/proven liar Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson is currently Prime Minister

Good to see the Chinese government coming up with the best possible solution to the Super Magic Chinese Megaflu of DEATH epidemic by...adding World War Z to the ever-growing list of books banned by the Chinese government. I don’t know why, though, it's not like it says Xi Jinping looks like Winnie the Pooh or anything...

Of course the English media responded to the Irish election result, where the incumbent Fine Gael lost out to a combination of Sinn Fein gaining the most first-choice votes and Fianna Fail getting the most second choice votes by reporting why this was the case...oh who am I kidding, of course they bloody didn’t, they only looked at through the usual English-centric prism and assumed that Britait was the reason why Fine Gael lost out, completely ignoring there was a unique consensus between all three parties that Britait is A Bad Idea that has also led the bigheaded gobshites from across the water to treat the irish like some second-class citizens who should shut up and fall in line behind their imperialistic masters

Once again the point-missers of the internet seem to think that you can use suicide rates as the basis for a game of Top Trumps, as there was a depressingly vocal section who responded to Caroline Flack’s suicide by comparing the number of suicides related to Love Island to the number related to The Jeremy Kyle Show as if it’s a football match and Love Island is currently “winning” 3-2

It was a busy day for smirking cretin Priti Patel as she had to simultaneously deny *deep breath* that MI5 have been actively withholding sensitive information from her as they see her as a threat to national security (and have grounds to see her as one...), that she hasn’t been bullying Home Office staff since getting her feet under the desk, that she didn’t force anyone out of the Home Office because they wouldn’t blindly follow every insane directive she could think of and it’s just a coincidence that attempts were made to remove Sir Philip Rutnam from the department...at least until Rutnam called her a liar, that is

Self-appointed voice of all Jewish football fans David Baddiel was as predictable as he was vocal in his disgust at the Oxford English Dictionary changing the definition of the word “Yid” to include Tottenham fans, leading to him howling about how Spurs fans have no right to reclaim the word while pretending that he doesn’t know the reason why Spurs have reclaimed the word, namely their regularly being serenaded with chants about Auschwitz, gas chambers and the Holocaust by Chelsea fans since the 1970s due to the club’s Jewish identity. Littlest Englander contender Douglas Carswell gleefully took to Twitter on February 1st to say the UK hadn’t collapsed into a pit after leaving the EU...meaning that either he doesn't understand that the UK is still in the EU as part of a transition period, or he knows this but knows that his followers don’t know this so thinks doing a victory lap during the warm-ups is normal

I had no idea that there were that many Nazis alive, much less present on one website and had I known, I most certainly wouldn't have been using that website, especially after finding out that the staff seems to be pro-Nazi. If any of you got hate comments on your photos, I'm sorry about that, I just never imagined that something like this could even happen. Until I went into my own personal account, and started noticing the death threats I was getting from people who had an issue with the fact of my Jewishness and Support's habit of locking my account while leaving the Nazis free to go on posting. Is this really 2019? It feels more like 1939. Among the other scummy things taking place on Twitter, I noticed something very bad about the accounts of a lot of the "photographers" posting to that site. On doing a random selection of photos supposedly taken by the holders of the accounts to which they were posted, in a clear majority of the cases, a reverse image search would reveal that the "photographer" was engaging in plagiarism, claiming credit for a photo which he or she had not taken. I was able to prove this to Twitter, providing links to the original photos (most of which were on Flickr) and Twitter responded by doing nothing. I mean, absolutely nothing. They didn't even respond. They didn't care. They were completely OK with the idea of their site being used to pirate content. So that raises the question - what do we do, now? What I'd like to do is turn off Twitter notification for all of my groups, permanently, but I can't. As some of you might know, my father lost our family home a few years ago, being unable to afford the rising taxes that were seen after the yuppies "discovered" the town he was living in, moved in, and got the local government to go on a spending spree. A lot of my possessions, including a stack of papers with my passwords on it, got shoved into storage with all of the other possessions we were able to save on short notice, and I haven't seen them since. At present, I am locked out of the accounts I have online, including the Twitter, IFTTT and Dlvr.it accounts for this group. I'm perfectly willing to acknowledge that my idea in this case was a bad one and turn off those notices, but without those passwords, I physically can't do it at the moment, and I don't know that I'll ever get the passwords back. The movers turned out to be a little dodgy and some of our stuff might be gone. Again, the move had to be done on short notice. The best I can do at the moment is to pass along a warning, and offer a few options: 1. Really, aggressively watermark your photos. Doesn't look good, but people can imagine what the un-watermarked work would look like. Basically, you're self-promoting without saying that you're doing it. Those who wish they could see your photos without the watermarks can come see one of your shows in the real world. This represents a diminished experience for the cheeto-munching online viewer who never steps outside his door, but who cares? Look at how content creators have been treated online. Certainly not with any kind of gratitude, not even with a modicum of decency. 2. Remove your pending photos from the queue. I'll hold off on approving photos for a few weeks, to give you some chance to do this. I'm not happy about the idea of recommending this option and I'm not pushing it. If you've submitted a good photo and you still want it approved (and probably tweeted), I'll be happy to approve it. But when I set up that twitter, I wanted to bring you guys more traffic and give your work more attention, not get it pirated. I was trying to help you, not "love" you over, and just didn't know what a pack of lowlifes I had put you in contact with. 3. We could start a new companion group without Twitter update notification, and just start using that. 4. We could say "this group has been around for a decade, we had a good run, and now it's time to close up shop and turn this group into an archive." Who was it that said "your first thousand photos are always your worst"? We all know about the new plan to throw out all but 1000 photos from each free account, which comes to us thanks to the buyout by Smugmug. Trying to grow as a photographer on the new Twitter is going to be like trying to grow as a writer by doing business with a vanity press. The "fellow creators" you'll find yourself getting into touch with won't be a good influence. Also, let's be honest. While there's been a lot of great work on Flickr, there has been a lot more terrible work for a long time, and the great work seen happened in spite of the increasingly drama-loving community, not because of it. Sometimes, the wisest decision one can make is to not be afraid to admit that something has become unwinnable, and to give up. Even before the Smugmug takeover, I had a commercial spammer drop by and post an advertisement for his adult party planning service. After I reported the advertisement as spam, I got a stern warning from an anonymous employee of Flickr, telling me that if I spammed again, I'd lose my account. I sent a message back reminding the staff that I had been the mod reporting the spam, not the person posting it, got stonewalled and then, when I went to the Help forum to try to find out what to do next, discovered that my ability to post to the Help forum had been disabled, apparently either by the incompetent employee who decided to cover his own backside or (more likely) by one of his friends at work. There's this continuing pattern of sleaze, of people winking and laughing at the very suggestion that they might be expected to deal at least somewhat honorably with others, and it is a reflection of a deep cultural dysfunctionality which I can't fix, and which seems to be growing deeper, not going away. Sometimes, it's time to give up and retreat. There's that temptation to stay and try to win the good fight, but when sleaze turns into the norm, how does one win? Also, what would we be trying to win? In the end, wouldn't we be left fighting for the freedom to entertain an audience that has shown itself to be pleased with the idea of treating us like dirt? When you go out and say something about piracy or arbitrary censorship, how much backup do you ever see from the people around you? Do you want your work seen, and maybe even purchased? Living on $15/day, as I currently do, I'm not sure that my business advice will be (or even should be) taken seriously, but I can think of one possibility: coffeehouses. There are still a lot of independents in Chicago, their walls are usually bare, and they tend to like the idea of using those walls as gallery space. Gives them the chance to squeeze out a little extra revenue. Maybe that's something to explore - sharing your photography in the real world.
