okay so I was tagged by @lailuhhh and @rosieblogstuff and I think one other person (i am so sorry i forgor) many days ago and i am finally doing the first sentence of ten works thing. I guess the general consensus is no one knows whether or not this is for WIPs or posted things so like many others I'll just do a combo of both :D

From a wip that is uhhhh 22k and counting long, titled in my google docs as simply "fuck it desi lore," starting off strong with a sentence that I don't think is actually grammatically correct but you know what sometimes the vibes matter more than grammar and you can quote me on that: Later, Desi will feel guilty for it.

From chapter one of Remittent Distress, we have a line that sounds like it's going to be macriley WHICH IT IS NOT- (PS she's just out on a little mini mission she's not dead or anything) During the three days that Riley has been gone, Mac's been coping poorly.

Another chapter one first sentence, we have the first line of what's shaping up to be my next book! Cue the school intercom noise... "Good morning Ravens, happy Tuesday, and happy first day of school!"

Next we have chapter one (not the prologue) of False Dawn, which is a WIP that keeps me up at night and makes me feel far too many emotions at once: Bozer has a strange affinity for sending physical letters.

We have a bit of a secret fic that's up next- set in Tender Mercies universe, except this is set approximately 10 years in the future from Aground, the most recent fic in the series. Mac makes it a single step into the visitation cell before freezing on the spot.

Next up we have the first line of one of my favorite fics of mine, where we get some Sam Cage! (sam my beloved). Get ready for the first sentence of Episteme! Samantha Cage, despite her evergrowing want to be out of the life she threw herself into, isn’t exactly sure how to stay out of it.

Okay so this is the first line at the moment, but might not be if/when I finally get around to writing the vast majority of this fic. After drafting out an entire fic on a plane ride about a year ago, I only actually fully wrote out a few paragraphs. Here's the beginning of it as of right now: “Arriving in forty-five minutes,” comes the eventual answer through Mac’s earpiece. 

Now we have the first line from Past + Fire + Present, purely because I think it's a fabulous addition to the whole point of this post (and also this does happen to be a fic that i am quite happy about how it came out). The first sentence is a little bit lack-luster though... Hands.

Changing things up a bit, this next sentence is from my 95% finished The Martian fic that has been 95% finished for over a year at this point. I really just need to write two more paragraphs and post it at this point, but here's the start! Sneaking out of Beck's quarters as soon as he stepped out to talk to the rest of the crew was probably not the brightest of plans, but I can’t take it back now.

And to end things off, we're going to hop back to Remittent Distress, but this time in the form of the first sentence for chapter three! (Currently working on it, fear not) It’s to be expected.

1. What do you like most about your favourite character?

*cue the instant argument in my head over who's the favourite*

I was literally about to go "look John gives me physics so..." and Scott shouted in my head "what about piloting, there's soooo much maths and physics in that  and Virgil went "I'm a qualified engineer???" and Gordon said "oceanography has a huge focus on applied physics, and what about the biomechanics of the body we talk about as athletes" and Alan looked me dead in the eye and just said "SPACE?!?!"

I'm very physics obsessed and since I'm on summer holidays this is only going to build until I get back to school and get to torture a new set of students with my one true love 😂😂

Uh, anyway, aside from that the unfailing and unflinching decision to do what's right over and over and over again, even when it's hard, and to not only do what's right, but to do it with love and kindness and patience. Quietly getting on and solving the problems and it's the old story of all that pain and it only made him kind (thanks doctor who that's permanently etched into my being now but it's so real and it killlllllls me)

and now I'm all weepy 😭😭😭😭

"She's grown so much, Brains! How's she eating?"

"Scott, it's a machine, it doesn't eat. Thunderbird One's fuel cells are currently operating at 78% efficiency. We need to break 80% if we want those top speeds to be accessible."

"She'll get there," said Scott, cooing slightly as he stared up at Thunderbird One's shining hull. "She's the best plane in the world, she'll do anything we ask her too."

"It's not down to her - it - it's a machine Scott!"

"Oh, you're much more than that, aren't you girl?"

"It's the physics that determin–"

"You listen to me," Scott interrupted, paying Brains no mind. "We all know physics is important, but you and me? We have a bond beyond the physical world, I can feel it. You can feel it too  can't you girl."

He paused, listening to a response from beyond the universe as the sun struck her silver casing and made it sing. Brains looked fit to explode beside them.

"That's right," Scott said, humming in agreement. "When you're all grown up, it'll be you and me, girl, we'll take them on together. Not long now, help Brains with his work now."

Scott patted her hull one final time, and grinned at Brains.

"She'll be good I promise. Forget 80%, I reckon she could hit 85."

Brains huffed.

"I'll keep that in mind."

For a moment, Scott lingered looking down at the blueprints spread out across the holos.

"Could you send me a copy of that one?" he asked, pointing at the very first technical drawing Brains had done, Jeff dictating his vision at his side.

Brains looked up at Scott, forlorn in the knowlesge that he'd be leaving 'his girl' behind once again as his leave ended.

He sighed and waved a hand, transferring a copy to Scott's device.

"Go on," he grumbled good-naturedly. "Take your baby photos and get out of here."

Favorite color: Red. Pretty much any shade of red. I have my hair dyed bright red. Dark reds feel like a warm embrace. I love red.

Last song: Le Monde by Richard Carter from the Talk to Me Soundtrack. This song just scratches an itch in my brain. Probably gonna try to make a fan edit to it at some point.

Last movie: Uhhhh I'm definitely more of a series watcher than a movie watcher, but I think last movie would be Puss in Boots: The Last Wish? I watched it on a plane ride back in the end June. I honestly don't think I've watched a movie since then. I'll watch like 10 different tv shows at once and several episodes in a sitting, but sitting down for a whole movie often feels like too big of a commitment jsksjsj

Currently watching: A few different things: Parallel World (aka West of Yumen), One Piece anime (very early on in my watching after getting hooked by the live action), Only Friends (GMMTV), Laws of Attraction, The Jungle (GMMTV), Crash Landing on You, and rewatching some of Detective L. [Probably more than this but brain is a messy place where I don't always remember everything. Don't worry, this is it's normal space jsksj]

Currently reading: Other than fanfic, I reread some of the early Sherlock Holmes stories by Doyle the other day while brainstorming an idea if that counts?

Currently working on: A few different fanfics, a Detective L fanedit that is still very early in the works, and a soft pastel art piece of a dragon (a very hobby that I'm very much enjoying).

Current obsession: Been on a real big Sudoku kick for the past like week, doing several of them almost every night. A long time favorite of mine without a doubt

i know this is likely my paranoia speaking, that this could be considered perfomative, and i might be neurotic (no, i am), so i'm leaving this in my #about blog tag.

having aph/hws Pru.ssia as my favorite character does not mean i like the actual ex-political entity, much less that i'd like it back (hell no). i like Gil (the weird persona) and anyone closer to him, thesefore including aph/hws Germ.any - Ludwig (especially considering both entities a continuum), but i am not a fucking wehra.boo or some similar/even worse shit (apologists fuck off).

the last thing i want to do is victimize these two fuckers as much as they are fake anime men, even while having somewhat in mind heta's "but their bosses, sniff". just plain no, but i don't wanna go deeper into this now (x); new: (x + x)

some things are sometimes out of place (wrong era) or unnecessary.

i have yelled to the clouds like an old man about the flags before (twice), about the uniforms, and as well complained about the fucking iron cross in a post tags (sorry. also idk where it is): i barely draw, but personally i'd rather—try to—avoid—sharing—it in anything post wwi-ii, while the chunkier version that doesn't look like it anymore it's on thin ice—like hetamyu iirc, that's also green, so in addition doesn't have mfing white borders like the one that was used in war vehicles (the inner corners) and the usual design. i don't think the fandom will ever completely get rid of it—if fans actually watched the news it'd be more obvious who likes those symbols, whether crosses or old flags... i guess normal catholic ass crosses or ridiculous plus symbols with different coloring could be some sort of middle ground, while anything pre wwi i assume is historical—and post wwii use is sincerely stupid (same or worse with the old flags), unless is in lud's modern uniforms bc they still use the symbol in blue unless is fucking idk, planes, but uhhhh, rather not.

*also i haven't send fucking asks about this, as much as i complain. i think once or twice i have seen posts about this, or more.

edit: new 2024 posts (+3) made in the context of the fandom being unable to recognize rancid shit, or not fucking caring—i worry here meanwhile the fandom willfully interacts with potential obvious bad actors. see other posts i reblogged that day to have a better idea of what i'm talking about...

Dream Trip: I would actually love to travel the whole world, I am not someone who can just remain in one place but unfortunately money is a thing and so is my fear of planes. My ultimate goal was always to get a chance to travel to Australia and Africa because that's where the most fascinating wildlife for me is. Switzerland and Austria is a goal too because I really like the landscape. Also, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland.

Anything I Want Right Now: Some patience and a levelhead is always good! Other than that? Money to do the stuff I like, wanting to pick up wildlife photography again because I miss doing it, learn how to draw and the ability to create my own figures so I can create characters that don't have merch. Uhhhh for social anxiety to go away, more energy in general.
